It has any app for huawei mediapad to turn on-off screen widget , thank you
Do you want a widget that can turn off the screen? If so, then you can download widgetsoid. For a simple app that can turn off the screen, lock screen app should be enough. For me, I use notification toggle and lock screen app and put the app on the notification panel so I can have quick access to turn off the screen.

Thank you, turn -off its OK, but how about turn-on withou Power button?
I would also like to be able to turn on the screen without power button. It would be good if there was an app that could turn on the screen based on orientation, ie. face down screen off, face up screen on. However, from what I've read, the gyroscope turns off when the screen is off.
In my current setup (carputer) I'm using the fact that the screen turns on when the device is plugged into the charger to wake the tablet up.

Is there a problem with your power button? Why do you want something like this?
If you have problem with your power button, maybe you can remap your buttons, so any colume button can be power on/off your device (I don't know how to do, just an idea. I'm a newbie )

Hi guys, I got the HTC Legend, and I'm finding it a pain to have to press on the lock button every time to wake it from sleep and so I want to be able to wake it by pressing on the optical trackpoint or any of the capacitive buttons as well.
It really frustrates me sometimes if I forget I've turned it off already and I try to wake it, so I press the power button, and it boots up instead and I have to wait for it to turn on only to turn it off again.
If anyone knows any solution please help me. It's driving me insane. On the iPhone I could just press the home button to wake and it wouldn't turn on the phone if it's off. I'm on stock Froyo 2.2 with sense UI, not rooted. Would prefer not to root and definitely not install a new ROM as it is not my phone and I don't want to mess with it too much. Thanks.
you could use an app like widgetlocker to achieve this. link to market
I'm curious, how the phone turns off when u press the power button to unlock the screen.
Do you have the lock screen setup? It should not be able to turn off untill screen is unlocked then the power button pressed and held again.

Trackball waking cannot be done via froyo sense! If you are willing to root your phone then flash Cm 7.1 as your rom. Then you can go to settings to activate trackball waking.
Other than that you can look around the market for apps that allow this.

what I meant was to unlock the screen while the phone is on by pressing any button apart from the power button, because at night I turn off my phone (the normal way), then I forget if I've turned it off or not, so I press the power button again, and then the startup screen appears - Sh*t! so I have to wait for it to turn on again so I can turn it off.
So essentially I want to press the capacitive buttons or trackpoint so that
1. It will unlock the phone if it is on.
2. It will not turn on the phone if it is off

hmm thanks. But when I looked through the comments everyone finds it a huge battery drain... So I'd rather not.
Thanks for the suggestions guys but if anyone knows an app that can does this it'd be great! So frustrating!

Currently no app except for widget locker and some launchers allow this. The only other way is to root and flash.

I think what he is saying is that he can't check if the phone is off or not.
Why you don´t use the rom from blay0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866849)? It is based on HTC stock version and has several extensions and wake on trackpad. It is very stable and i had no problems with this rom in the last months.
It is a weird problem. Not a killing one, but still it's absurd.
How would I know that my phone is sleeping (standby) or completely shut down (off)?
You may say, just press the power button on backside. But if I do that, that's going to turn on the phone anyway if it was off.
I want to know without turning the phone on whether the phone is actually off or not.
Any idea guys? Any way to find out?

When you press shortly on the power botton- if the phone is sleeping the screen will turn on to the lock screen, if the phone is off it will turn on to the red M initial screen.
That is a really weird question, why should you ask it? if you turned your phone off it is off, if you just turned the screen off it is asleep (shhhh, don't disturb him :silly: )
:cyclops:
I don't want to disturb him, that's what I want.

If the phone was sleeping, I would know as it will show lock screen when I press the power button. But if it was off and I press the power button, it will turn on the phone. And I don't want that. I just want to know whether the phone is off, and if it is off I don't want to disturb him.
In other phones, they have separate unlock button, here it is combined with power. That's the problem. But moto could have made long press for turn on and short press for unlock. I think there is no solution to my problem. :crying: Thanks anyways.

Call your number?
Plug in the headset and press the headset button?
Plug in the charger?
Pair it with wifi/bluetooth and see if connection is alive from paired device?
I'm sure there are hundreds of other creative ways to find out whether the phone is off or on standby without pressing the power button.

I know what you mean, like in the Nokia 700 (or any symbian phones), there are two seperate buttons, where the lock button does not switch on the phone, but instead the power button does. I know some Android devices need a long press to switch on, while a short press does nothing while off, but Motorola doesn't use this "feature".

If you use a CM based rom you can set the volume rocker to wake the phone. If you use a blur based rom you can install an app from the play that does the same.

Thanks!

2. powered on - unlocked (screen is on)
3. powered off.

Anyone else have this issue? When I short press the power button to turn off the screen, it sometimes looks like it's going to turn the screen off then turns back on to the lock screen.
This has caused me all kinds of pocket dialing / pocket shortcut making / pocket emailling issues.
I THINK this issue might be caused by the Screebl app (app that keeps screen on when being held) since I can't replicate it with it off. I really would like to use it though because it's a really useful app. Any suggestions?
I can't half press my power button. It just turns off when I apply little pressure
Must be an isolated issue

It's not a half press. It's a short press (vs long press - which would bring up the power menu to shut down, restart, etc). It turns the screen off, then it blinks back on to the lock screen, but seemingly only when Screebl is enabled. Might just have to drop that app, but I'd rather not because it's damn useful.

Your last paragraph seems as if you've already isolated the problem. Unfortunately, I think you know your only choice. I'd consider contacting the creator of the app.

Hey, I just wanted to confirm that this is not just isolated to your phone. I have had this issue with two phones so far, a Samsung Vibrant and an HTC One S. I've been looking for an answer as well, but so far turning off Screebl has been the only solution. Sucks because I love Screebl.

is there any way that I activate the screen using the power button only?

You can't have both. If you want to do what you're describing go into style and shut off clock always on. Then go into motion and uncheck wake up gesture.
Your watch will now only turn on the screen if you touch the power button.

isn't this something we can come around by rooting?

I am looking for the same solution - I want the screen to always show a high battery efficient clock and only show the main watch face when I press the home button or activate the screen by doing the wake up gesture(as Sony's SW2 does...)
I came to Samsung from HTC and one of the inconveniences I am having with the s9+ is turning the screen off. Of course I can turn screen off with the power button, but I prefer to turn off by a double press or a long press. Since I could not find a way of doing those I tried to use an app to turn screen off. The app works well in turning off screen, but the problem is after turning screen off, I cannot unlock the phone with the fingerprint scanner or any of the other unlocking sensors. I can only unlock with PIN if I turn off screen with the app. This is the app that I have been using. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
Appreciate if anyone can help me find a way around for this problem of fingerprint and other sensors not working after screen off with an app.
It's a security measure.. I suggest using this:
http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.app.softkeypanel
There's a lock button that won't disable the finger print and stuff. Hope this helps
I use an app named screen off. It puts a button on your home screen to shut it off. Then just double tap the home button to turn it back on.

Thanks. I tried that and it works without disabling the fingerprint and other sensors. Only thing is it takes two touches to turn off the screen.
Take a look at Lock Screen Pro, it has an option in its settings that will allow fingerprint and iris scanner to work after locking with an app symbol you added to your homescreen. If you use bxActions you can also lock your device with the bixby button!
Use Nova Launcher, better than Touchwiz and has a setting built in for double tap screen off, no problems here with finger print sensor. No need for secondary app.
Long-press on home button
Try a long-press on the home button. A long-press turns on and off the Samsung S9+.
I knew of its function to light the screen, but was unaware that it would close the display.
Greenify is installed on my phone, and a message appears, stating that Greenify is still working, and that I can press the power button, if I want to stop it, then the screen is off.
