Hi everyone, today I've obtained XXBLFB by OTA on my samsung Galaxy s3 and before I was in lf2 with CF root (last version) .
Since I've updated I don't have superuser rights anymore on some applications, and finally I want to unroot my device, but SuperUser app is still on my phone, and the phone status is : Custom .
I was okay to flash stock kernel but I don't have it, there's only roms , if I re-flash the rom will the root delete himself ?
Because I just get the rom by ota and it's still here .
Please help

You have to root your phone again with the latest CF Root and install TrianleAway 1.51 and reset the flash counter and reset the status. After reboot go in the SU app and delete root and reboot.
Ok thanks i'll do that , but CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.zip is not downloadable right now ? chainfire website isn't working ,do you have this file please ?

if you are unrooting for waranty purpose, just unrooting and unistalling root apps are not enough, you have to flash the stock firmware through ODIN, after reseting counter with Triangle Away. Samsung service center can make out by simply booting your phone, since T-Away can not reset the status of your phone showing "modified" in the status of the phone in about phone menu,
so just follow the steps for these mentioned by Chainfire in his CF-root thread
ZACQ8 is right, just hope your up to flashing with Odin.
Here is a tutorial how i did it:
If you want to use Odin first download a stock firmware from www.sammobile/firmware, pick the rom of your country and download it.
Extract it once from .rar to md5 file.
Readup a bit, it isn`t hard but there are a few things you must know:
1. Enable usb debugging on your phone
2. Go into downloadmode (volume down + power + menu all at the same time)
3. See if IDCOM light up yellow and in the left bottom window it says added when you connect your phone to the pc.
4. Unzip the downloaded file ONCE into a .tar or md5 file if you haven`t
5. Place that file in the PDA section.
6. Do not tick anything, only f.reset.time and autoreboot should be ticked.
7. Start
8. Rebooting automaticly.
Close Kies, also everthing Kies related in task manager before flashing!

I don't really understand, (i'm french) will I be able to totally delete root on my s3 or not ?
Chainfire website won't work
Before with my galaxy s2, event it was root in every firmware, I've reflash a stock firmware and warranty worked, impossible for S3 ?
and, btw I don't have any triangle or other thing, I just have flash counter
edit : finally i'll do that :
"- Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counters, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Boot into recovery and perform a wipe, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Go to SamMobile and get the stock firmware for your region
- Flash that stock firmware on your device
- Let Android boot, go through device setup (without doing any logins) until Android is fully usable again
- Reboot
- Wait at least 10 minutes
- Check Settings->About device->Status and make sure Device status is not "Modified"
- Perform another factory reset
- Boot into download mode and make sure the flash counter and system status are all set to official"
Thanks

Hi there,
A few months ago I rooted my phone using Odin3 v1.85 and CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5 downloaded from here. It automatically installed SUper
However I want to un-root it now and send it back to Samsung to fix a niggling hardware problem. I have my USB cable. I tried to search the existing threads in the forum with no luck.
Can anyone tell me how I can unroot my phone?
Thank you in advance.
try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
download any suitable rom (any would be OK, but try to found one that is from a nearby location) and flash it through odin. after that if anything is not working properly, flash it again.
try to format data, cache dalvik and /system before flashing it through ODIN
flash ur stock rom and ur root will be gone
or also u can unroot it by using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Don't forget to reset custum binary download counter.
So use triangle away at first.
Thank you for all your replies.
I may add, only a few days ago Samsung released an update for the phone (this was done using Samsung Kies). Since then, I am not able to root access my phone (i.e. when I try to use Triangle Away or SuperSU it says "there is no su binary installed")
Does this mean I need to re-root the phone and then un-root it afterwards? Because I can't use Triangle Away to reset flash/binary counter.

I have. It was rooted properly before but after I installed the update about a week ago, it has removed root access from my phone. Do I need to re-root it then, before un-rooting it?

Updates from Kies remove root. Root it again, reset with Triangle Away. Into recovery, wipe data and cache. Fomat /system to remove cf root left overs. Flash stock Rom from your country in Odin. Make sure Kies recognizes the flashed Rom as local

Ffs use the search and read the necessary information, I see the same questions time after time all because people can't be bothered to look for themselves, the galaxy S2 is the easiest phone in the world for rooting, un rooting and flashing custom roms, if you can't be bothered to learn the basics then I can't be bothered to help you (rant over)

recommended this to do
make a efs backup before first use efs pro or k tool
if u want to install a custom rom from recovery
go to recovery wipe data / cacche
then install from sd select the file and ur done
if u want to specifiaclly format it then u have option for that in mounts and storage but after that make sure u flash a rom in recovery
NEXT TIME PLEASE USE THE SEARCH OPTION

Hai there,
I've problem with system status in download mode, on rooted stock xeo jb rom on my gt-i9300.
System status: Samsung official - custom
First problem appears after updating system to jelly bean, cf root-ing and using triangle away - system status remains as listed above.
I've readed, that the problem isn't root, but custom recovery installed with cf.
So:
I flashed rom again, and rooted using s3 toolbox - clear root, without flashing reco. Used triangle away and... nothing. Still Samsung official - custom is showed.
Halp.

Hey, thanks for your reply!
I knew this trick before, but unfortunately, on jb it doesn't work for me. Today i followed those steps again:
Factory format - flash via Odin - flash root using s3 toolbox (w/o recovery) - TA - factory format
And still system/binary status is Samsung official - custom
note that factory format has been made by code.

Why not follow the steps i gave ..
Run TA
Flash STOCK firmware and factory reset after .
Possible of my method does not work its the root program you use .
Also see post regarding rom counter not resetting posted in the last few days .

Does this method works with cf root?
After flashing rom and rooting shouldn't I use triangle before factory reset?

Repeat
Run TA ( you will obviously need to be rooted and i have no knowledge of any other root method bar CF Root )
Flash stock rom via Odin .
Reboot
Factory reset
Check status .

Followed your steps - still the same :<
could you give me link to thread you talking about?

Stag I could be wrong but if you follow JJEgans steps you should be fine but the second u apply root after your fresh install youll get a custom status again. Also if your using mobile odin pro to flash stock rom youll more than likely have ever root selected and again this will keep the custom status as your newly flashed rom will have root.(i.e modified so custom)
That's the problem, on ics i could have official status with root, and working OTA, even with modified nfc.apk to trigger nfc while screen was off, just used TA...
On jb, after flashing cf or other root w/o custom recovery neither factory format and TA works... TA just resets flash counter and system status to Samsung official, but binary remains "custom", so automatically OTA stops working >.<

Hi all,
I've been having a few issues with my S2 (Randomly resetting, freezing, etc) - so I decided to do a factory reset - but it hasn't worked.
When I turn my phone on, it wont go past the galaxy logo. I've tried holding down VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME - but it doesn't boot it into recovery mode.
I've downloaded odin (the phone is rooted) and was told to download a new ROM and then use the PDA button on odin. But the only file type it expects is MD5, tar and SMD. Whenever I download a ROM, I just get a ZIP?
I'm probably being stupid. Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, I just want the phone working.

What ROM do you want to flash?
If it's a stock ROM, then extract the zip file and flash the contained tar/md5 file with Odin.
If it is a custom ROM and only provided as CWM-flashable zip file, then use a stock ROM to flash first and flash the custom ROM afterwards, when everything works again.
Here you can get the latest stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, or pre-rooted stock ROMs from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071, or use Check Fus Downloader from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/ to check for the latest officiallly released firmware versions for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't care which ROM I use - As long as I get the phone working again. I did download 7comp ROM but I couldn't find any .tar files?
I also converted the ZIP to a TAR but odin isn't picking it up ?!
OK - I've downloaded and installed the latest stock ROM you posted.
It seems to have installed, but doesn't go past the splash screen which says samsung galaxy Sii
Any ideas?
[EDIT] - Phone fixed. I was able to load it into recovery mode and cleared cache. woo
Well done ...now try to go on recovery mode ...if should be able to go....do full wipe...then clear delvik cache...then advance- fix permission ..
Then reboot system ....you are done...

Attempted to root the phone but it didn't work.
I followed a set of instructions, and was asked to wait for the phone to reboot. It now has the "!" rooted icon but won't go past the rooted screen.
System restore and clearing cache doesn't set it back to factory default. Any ideas?

Sorry for late reply. I followed a video on youtube showing you how to root the phone. It looked succesfull as the "!" did appear, but it wouldn't go past that.
So I rolled it back using the original ROM and have given up on rooting it. It's a shame as I really liked Jelly Bean

to root ur phone, just dwnld the .tar file of Siyah v4.1.5 fro the link below, then put ur phone into Dwnld mode and connect to ODIN in ur PC and flash by putting the siyah kernel file(.tar) in PDA section, ur phone will be rooted
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/09/08/siyahkernel-s2-v4-1/
PS- do see that u dwnld the file meant to flash by ODIN ie Download tar (for Odin)
Just flash a siyah v.4 rooted kernel through odin.
Hi all,
I use to own a htc sensation and now well purchased my new shiny S3. Read a couple of threads and do not want to risk bricking this as it only arrived this morning.
So the spec of my model is the following :
Model : GT19300
Android : 4.1.1
Base:19300xxdlid
kernel 3.0.31
build jroo3c
Just to confirm, some tut's said install kies on pc before rooting and connect the device at least once before running the root, others state please remove all samsung software from the pc. Which is correct ?
I also have seen this message : IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE THIS TOOLKIT TO ROOT OR FLASH CUSTOM RECOVERY ON A SNAPDRAGON MODEL SGS3 AS THE INCLUDED IMAGES WILL NOT WORK ON IT
How can i tell which mine is ?
So would you people recommend the toolkit way or the other way, as i have been looking at the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
I'm not a complete newb as i had the sensation for 2 years and had that rooted so just some guidance please as this is a new device cheers

I personally used Chainfire's Odin method, which worked flawlessly. No need for Kies, just download Odin and use the .tar file he provides.
If your model number is GT-i9300, you will have the Exynos version of the phone, so you can ignore the warning about Snapdragon processors; that only applies to the LTE US version.
Read the following thread - it tells you everything you need to know.

Thanks buddy Root access has been granted. Is this triangle away compulsory or can i just leave it?
How would i go about flashing a custom Rom now? Stick the custom rom zip on sd card and just boot into cwm and boot from zip ?
p.s don't suppose you have a tut on returning to factory default and un rooting just incase i ever need to send it back

have a slight problem, I noticed i had the stock cwm and wanted the touch version. I downloaded the recovery and renamed it recovery.img and then went and installed odin mobile pro after selecting recovery and internal or external it will not find the file recovery.img ? I then thought i would try to download the .tar.md5 file for CWM TOUCH RECOVERY 6.0.1.2, however upon opening odin on my pc and then trying to boot my device into download mode, it just shows the Samsung logo and refreshes. I have managed to boot the device back on since then.
Update I have tried and read about 20 odd posts and everywhere tell me to get the device into download mode, the device wouldn't,However after several attempts I managed to get odin to pick the img file and flash. Upon booting back up i am now stuck with a Samsung boot logo and feel its bricked? Please Help!!!
