I thought I heard that you couldn't do it on SGS3? But you shouldn't really need too. How many apps do you have installed? and if you have a 32GB memory card, you should be all good

I've got no more than the usual amount of apps that Ive had on my previous phones. thing is my apps, titanium backups and nandroid backups are on my phone's internal memory and not on my sd card so Im wondering what people are doing so that they dont run out of space.

I moved my Titanium Backup files to my external SD card. Gotta figure out how to move Nandroids to the memory card.

Did you move them manually or some other way?

SD card help / question.

Ok, so i have my atrix. Now i dont really get this part.. when i use efile for instance or anything like it. I already had a mnt/sdcard with stuff on it before i even had a sd card. All i had was the internal memory the phone came with. Why is it under sd card?
So i have 2 folders
sdcard
and
sdcard-ext which is my new card i take it because there is nothing in it yet.
Question should i transfer everything to my actual sd card? like backup it all? any info on how to do this or if i should is a good idea. Should i keep my internal memory clean as possible? thanks.
the atrix treats the internal 16gb memory as an SD card hence the SD card name. Now to differentiate between the Internal and External the other is called SD-EXT. Basically what ever you place in the SD slot, be it 16gb 32gb etc, it will show as the SD ext. Where you palce your files is up to you. By default most Apps will use your SD folder instead of SD EXT (titanium backup for example)

Well you can use your computer to move files if you place your phone in mass storage mode, or if you are rooted you can use a program like root explorer. The only things you should need to transfer would be backups of programs or music. everything else is fine on the internal storage. The only things I put on my actual sdcard are my music and documents. I would not worry about transferring anything, internal storage is really just as safe as an sdcard unless you brick your phone.

Apps on SD card?

Has anyone been able to successfully move an app from the internal storage to an sd card on the NT? I have tried using App2sd and Astro file manager to move apps, but every time I move one, it breaks the app and I end up have to reinstall it to the main storage.
How can I move or initially install apps to my sd card?
Thanks in advance.
Moves, but disappears
SuperToolbox moves them to the SDcard nicely, and they work until I reboot. Then they are GONE!
Is there a cure for this?
Apps2SD/ZDBox?
Has anyone had any better luck with this? Both Apps2SD and ZDBox break the app. And at least in the case of ZDBox, the application never even shows up on the SD card when I do a search.
Had to ask: Why would you want to move an app to SD? I understand that the nook has sufficient storage space to handle a lot (something like 13GB) of apps.

in all honesty it weird that you would want to install apps on to your SD card since you basically have 13GB of access for apps. Installing apps from your SD card goes into the data folder on the NT if i am not mistaken, and apps take very little space unless you are downloading games which have like additional content that takes like 1gb of space. Even then you should still have sufficient storage...
you guys know that we can only use 1 gig of all that internal storage, right? because the other 12 gigs are dedicated to Barnes and Noble content...

Have you read any of the threads on the partitioning of the device?

[Q] Best way to clean up Internal Storage?

I have way too much crap on my internal SD card. I think a lot of it is from apps I have downloaded then deleted and other miscellaneous things. My internal storage which is 8 GB, because of the SD Flip Flop MOD, is pretty much full. I dont know how. The biggest folders that I know about is a videos folder which is only 1.7 GB and a folder with some comics which is about 800 MB. Everything else was put on there by third party apps I believe.
So what I want to know is, whats the best way to clean all this stuff up? Should I transfer everything from my internal storage to my PC then format internal storage? If so, this is where it gets a little confusing. Since I have the SD Flip Flop MOD on my Eclipse ROM, when I "format internal storage" is it really formatting my External SD card? Also, Im pretty sure the apps will recreate the files they need after formatting right? But will I lose save data for my games? If so, I guess I should just backup my apps with Titanium backup and then restore the data after formatting?

Are my Titanium Backups in the right place?

Hey guys, I just noticed that my Titanium Backups are stored in sd storage as opposed to the ext. Sd storage? What did I do here?
Have you tried going to Preferences | Backup folder location | Press back button and look for:
/mnt/extSdCard
and look for your Titanium Backup directory?
edit- you have to "Reload application" in TB for the changes to kick in. I just confirmed this on my rooted GS3 with backups made using a GS2.

Mine are stored in /mount/sdcard instead of /mount/extsdcard, when I go to preferences to change it, it won't allow me to "write files to this location? The only thing on my external sd card storage is my camera folder with my pictures in it? But I forgot to put the sd card in my phone until a couple of days after I had it, but I can't imagine that has anything to do with it? Also, I'm only using an 8gb card, but it has 7.39 of 7.40gb available?

[Q] Help managing your storage!

Hi guys!
I have a bit of a problem with my S2 storage. I'm running cyanogenmod. So I wanted to ask you guys how could I best manage all my apps/pics/videos/backups etc.
My current status:
System ROM 528MB, 149MB free
Internal 2.11GB, 637MB free
SD Card 12.3GB, 1.35GB free
Ext. SD Card: 31.9GB, 29.1GB free.
So you see here my problem...I have this huge 32GB SD card that is mostly empty, while all my installed apps go either to the 600MB of internal data partition or to the internal memory. Either way, I barely have 2GB available for data, and a huge partition that now I can't even take for the camera (CM will only save to internal DCIM folder).
Titanium Backup allows to move the data folder anywhere, so it's into the big SD card.
ScummVM allows to save the ROMs anywhere, so also these ones are in the SD card.
Movies/Videos I download are in the SD card.
...And that's it. Whenever I take pictures, I need to remember to move the files manually to the external SD, because the camera app will only save them in the internal memory. What can I do? How can I improve this?
THanks a lot!
Up!
A camera app such as Camera Zoom Fx available on play, will allow you to specify where your pictures are saved.
Also, I am running the latest NEATROM lite based on the JB leak and the stock camera allows you to choose between internal and sd card as storage. This may not be the case on older versions of the stock camera.
Hope this helps with the picture issue at least!

Yeah, thanks. All the Samsung stock cameras allow saving into the SD card. The AOSP one, however, doesn't. Still don't quite understand it.
Anyway, besides the camera, would there be a way to move installed apps (or its data) to the SD card?

I have never done this with GS2 but on HD2 we could create a sdext partition on external sd. This partition would then be used by system to extend internal storage. I think this can be done on GS2 via cwm by partitioning sdcard. You would need to backup your data from external card first though before partitioning.
There is also Apps2SD on google play which will move installed apps to ext card.
Yeah, that's it! I did something like this on my Nexus One on its day. It wasn't perfect but it was good. I'll look into this. Thanks!
