Does anyone else notice that the resound has horrible memory management. I just got it to day and I haven't rooted it or anything yet. I have es task manager and its always saying I have between 50-90mb of ram left which is horrible if I clean the caches I get about 400 back but it fills back up almost in a min and starts slowing down Mabry its just all the bloatware I guess

When something needs room, Android makes room for it. Nothing new.
If you don't want the extra stuff running, then root it and freeze the apps you don't want. Again, nothing new.

I understand that android manages there ram different I just its just that I had an EVO4g (512 ram an 998m processor) and sense 3.5 was my fav Rom for it I guess I just expected the ruu stock would be more impressive on a machine that could handle it but honestly my EVO handle its cache an ram better I never had lag unless it was a beta Rom so just venting I guess lol. But then again they were all developed Rom made to manage processes better and I have never liked stock kennels.

I've owned a bunch of HTC phones but have been having issues with my new HTC Rezound. Whenever I exit certain applications the stock launcher reloads and displays the HTC Splash Screen. Seems to happen most often with Draw Something (but does happen with other apps as well). Anyone else have a similar issue or know of a fix?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I am actually surprised to say this but I am going to say it (knocks on wood) anyway. I know exactly the issue you are speaking of with sense phones in general. have had it happen tons of times on phones from the Droid Eris, to Incredible 1 & 2, TBolt, and they have all done this. I am into week 2 of my rezound and haven't seen it once. {walks away and launcher redraws}.
Are you running any tweaks or mods like the leedroid tweaks?

On my Incredible, I used V6 Supercharger to prevent this (and it worked amazingly well!).
I have V6 on my Rezound, and in the 30+ days I've had it, I've had exactly one re-draw of the launcher, and I really think that was my fault. Check it out!
V6 Supercharger
Thanks for the input. Mine is totally bone stock...I just received it yesterday. On my Incredible it would happen once in a great while. On the Rezound it happens almost consistently. And I wouldn't mind if it didn't take the launcher so long to recover.

Sent from my Dinc... I mean Rezound
I figured as much. But that means I'm constantly out of memory which is odd for a bone stock phone. I even turned off back ground processes that might have been sucking up memory. It's bad enough that it makes me want to return the phone.

It could be a memory leak in an app. If you notice it happening with a particular app try uninstalling it and see how it runs.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I've turned off fast boot and cpu timelines which has seemed to help thus far. Worse case I guess I could just restore the phone and reinstall one app at a time. Main culprit definitely seems to be Draw Something though.

Have you checked to see how much memory draw something uses? I know that words with friends is a memory hog.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Good call. Draw Something uses 72MB which is nearly twice as much as other average apps. In fact I would argue that it's almost unacceptable. I still can't believe the launcher wouldn't have a higher memory priority over other user apps though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I noticed this happens when I use Scramble With Friends. It used about 130 MB of memory. Sometimes more so I uninstalled it. Sense uses about the same amount of memory. I think because the phone gets low on memory it shuts down Sense because it is using lots of memory. Seems ridiculous that this happens, but it does.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Sense 3.5 takes up a ton of memory so when its not used and other programs require more ram sense is unloaded. Once you go back to the home screen it has to be reloaded.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Draw Something, Facebook, Any of those games and whatnot constantly streaming data, seem to decide to use all your ram for no reason. I like ICS for the reason that now you can close stuff when your done with it
So when ICS rolls out with Sense 3.6 they'll hopefully have this fixed. I bought this phone for Sense and I'm just amazed how fickle it seems this far.

That's half the answer the problem is the ram is supposed to dump the apps from the ram in order of least important but for some reason the sense launcher drops to a less important level when not in use (to give back more ram I guess). Like many people have said V6 will fix this problem and is super easy to use so I would give that a try is a great script.

Will take a while to hunt down the app but anybody else have 'LinkedIn' app installed? It just hot rebooted while launching that app from a fresh restart - quickest hot reboot I've ever seen.
It might not be that app but then I went to the Play Store page and there are tons of 1 star reviews because the last update failed on people's phones - more interestingly the most recent comment is from a GS2 user who says latest update reboots his phone.
I've uninstalled it and I doubt I can be that lucky that it's that app and I find it so quickly but crossing my fingers.
Mine rebooted after I opened the Navigation app.

I had the same problem on my previous Captivate and am having it now on the GS III; no rhyme or reason to the reboots that I can see.
I still have heat problem but I played w/ different settings to see what it is.... I had att s3 which got really really hot... So returned it for Verizon s3. Verizon is better but learned that the data (lte/s3) makes it really hot and battery drain. Also the screen, of course.
If you're rooted then go get Phone info and disable lte. I tried CDMA auto for Verizon and it got much better... But at lowered download speed. I change it when I speed the speed... Doesn't require reboot so it's easy to change.
U can also under clock using setCPU.
I don't need it to be fast normally except when playing games... So just have it at 384min and 1024max... I find this helps allot w/ heat as well... U can try and find your setting that's acceptable speed and heat.
Just sharing my experience here.... So good luck.

Happens here too with the T-Mobile GS3. I think they rushed their fabrication process to deliver a high volume and fubared a few hardwarewise. I've even had it lockup/freeze once when not even in the OS but just in the recovery menu's. But yeah, the usual is a totally random unpredictable hot reboot throwing out my resident programs, homescreen, ect. Starts with the screen being frozen and not accepting input, then a short vibration, then back to homescreen reloading and all regular apps and widges that are supposed to run at boot load again. It's as if there's a micro static short or something. Anyway, I'm sick of problem solving and looking through logcats. Going back in for warranty. This is a dream phone except for this ultra annoying bug that it seems not many people have.

Happened to me once or twice (that I noticed) in the two weeks before I rooted (stock UCALEM), and a few more times after. It's just TouchPiz being pizzy. Maybe someone can catch the logcat, but there's nothing we can do about it (except install a better ROM )
How would anyone be able to diagnose this BS
"OK. My phone is hot. And it randomly reboots".
"Crap - u r out of luck buddy. Go change ur damn phone".
Provide ur phone model, ROM version, apps installed. Check ur battery stats.
As a solution - flash any custom ROM which removes bloatware.
I've had the DNA since 11/21 and I'm surprised more people are not complaining about the phone freezing up and rebooting?
I saw the other post about DNA problems and he mentioned Chrome causing the problem. My DNS froze running Chrome as well so I uninstalled that but it still freezes up when I am in the Mail and Gmail application. It does not happen with a certain action in any application so I am not sure why it keeps freezing up and then rebooting.
I do not have a lot of apps but I am using UCCW, Simi Battery Widget, and Android Pro Widgets on my homescreens. Other than those widgets I pretty much only use the Internet browser, camera, phone, Play Music, and Facebook.
Is anyone else having the same problem with their DNS randomly freezing and rebooting?
I don't think it's a phone issue, but more of an app issue? Remember not all apps are truly compatible with this phone as of yet. Sure, you might be able to download the app you want, but it may not play nice with this new device. I say start fresh, do a factory reset, and add apps all over again. I tend to stay away from apps like UCCW, BW, and so on as I think those are not really ready for this phone. Of course I could be wrong though?
If the problem occurs after the factory reset, I say exchange it for a new one, and hope it's a good phone.
Good Luck!
I discovered the same thing yesterday but luckily I was able to duplicate back to Any.DO. So I just step carefully around the app where it works.
I am using Power Widget and Beautiful Widgets on my home screen with no issues so far.
I would take the previous posters recommendations.

I just thought it was weird because I really don't run that many apps and like minimal style homescreens. I had the Galaxy Nexus and used to run all different types of ROMs (CM10, AOKP, Jelly Belly, Paranoid Android, etc.) (4.1, 4.1.2, 4.2) and I never had an issue with that phone freezing up like the DNA.

if you are rooted, you can delete system apps using titanium, root explorer, etc, etc.
Personally, if a brand new phone is having reboots after a hard reset, it would be getting exchanged.

Why did you ditch the RAZR?
I am considering the DNA or the Razr as my next unit.
i have been dealing w/the reboots and freezing now more and more each day. sucks i'm not sure wats causing this to happen.i'm rooted and still on stock jellybean..could it be a kernel or something cause this really didnt start to happend til i changed kernels.
the only i noticed is a few of my apps were not compatible. some apps will run until i select a certain action then fc. some apps start but then shut right down. these apps just arent for the dna yet its ok delete and repeat lol
99% chance Its your kernel. The guys are doing a great job with the new kernels, but only one has been truly stable. DSB's first kernel is the only stable one I am aware of (aside from stock). I am currently on his 1.2.5 and it seems stable, but not 100% sure just yet.

I too saw that on Reddit. I tried it out on my Evo running Stock w/ Goodies, and on my Nexus 7. Installed, rebooted, and played a bit to let things "settle in", and there is definitely a noticeable improvement in speed and responsiveness, on what were already pretty swift and smooth devices.
I haven't tried it yet, but will soon. If this works out in the long run, hopefully the devs can put this in their roms. I wonder if Google knows about this...
Anyone do a quadrant on this yet? I'm curious if it really works or its just a placebo. Also, how is battery life?

From what little I know about entropy pools, the larger this pool (a pool of random actions right?) is & the faster your programs/inputs are able to access it. The more responsive they'll be.
I could be very wrong but this is what I assume is happening here.
This pool that continusly dumps & fills for however many seconds is about 300-400 nomally on our device. With the tweak the pool is 3000+, I think the tweak also increases the speed of the refresh to access the pool by 1 second.
So 1 second (every second this -> 4 digit figure randomly fills & dumps) + 3000+ accessable random numbers (actions) vs. undetermined number of seconds & a pool avg or 300-400.
Again I'm guessing. I haven't spoke of this since my Eee PC & that might've been for a kernal.
I imagine it as a hand/s repeatedly reaching for a few hundered chocolates spinning in a whirlwind (before) & a ton of random chocolates with even faster hands reaching for a few thousand chocolates spinning in the whilrwind (after).
