hiii. i hv galaxy s2 and dell xps 15, both having bluetooth 3.0. but when i transfer data through the bluetooth, it show transfer speed at d max 200 kbps . but as far as i know, bluetooth 3.0 can have a maximum of 24 MBIT/SEC transfer rate.
Can anybody tell my how to transfer data at higher speed..
thanx in advance
Same question here
To get what you want the laptop and sgs2 should both be connected to same wireless network. I suddenly noticed that. In my home wifi the transfer rate speed reaches 1mb per sec. May be in better wifi networks it increases even more...

Are you sure your computer/USB receiver supports USB 3.0?

I forgot to notice that not any bt3 can do high speed, just those are bt3+hs like sgs2.
And ics does not support hs.

i have also face this problem when i was using gingerbread version
from wikipedia: "Bluetooth 3.0+HS provides theoretical data transfer speeds of up to 24 Mbit/s, though not over the Bluetooth link itself. Instead, the Bluetooth link is used for negotiation and establishment, and the high data rate traffic is carried over a collocated 802.11 link."
so that's why they have to be connected to same wifi network

BT 3.0 + HS not supported by ICS
Bluetooth High Speed is not supported on ICS.
You'll get only BT 3.0 speed which is around 200-250kbps.
On gingerbread I was able to get around 2-3MB (16-24Mbps) transfer rate.

Got my S2 and loving it but having a problem with its wifi performance.
It is running slowly ie on a n network speed test gives between 0.1 and 1 MBs down upload seems fine tried different channels etc. Killed all others apps in task manager disabled background snyc, but no difference
Then tried a different wifi access point on my network with similar results so it seems to be the phone. In comparison my wifes phone is consistently around 5 times faster download speed. sucks not to be able to use my new toy properly Any ideas before it goes back?
Thanks

is your router capable of sending G and N signal at the same time? u may have to change either a setting on ya phone to just pick up G or a router setting, this wont be your phone, i work for an isp, see this all the time 1 pc or laptop is N router is N and 2nd pc is G or even B and this causes problems
Thanks for the reply changed the router to n only and the phone is the only device connected still painfully slow. Then tried b/g and the speed test is much faster. Looks like the galaxy dosn;t play nice with the n router I have (home hub 3 from bt)

Some routers with n were released with support for the draft spec. It's possible your router only supports a version of the draft n spec and thus isn't fully compatible with the SGS2 which would be full n spec compatible. Your router may have a firmware update that would give it full n spec. It would be worth a quick check.

Does anyone know if the SII's N wifi works on the 5GHz band? My wifi network with my PC is solely on 5GHz as get fewer disconnections and constant speed through my fibre connection then with 2.4GHz.
Thanks
According to this it supports Dual Band:
http://pocketnow.com/android/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-supports-dual-band-wi-fi-80211n
which was based on this
http://certifications.wi-fi.org/pdf_certificate.php?cid=WFA11164 (does not work in Chrome)
I'm thinking the wifi performance could be poor just like the wifi performance on the Samsung Nexus S phones is. The Nexus S wifi is pretty poor. Does your signal strength show it being full or weak? On the Nexus S you could be 2 feet away from the router and it would still show weak reception.

Thanks mate, exactly what I was hoping. I'll post a review of the performance using my 100MB fibre connection as soon as I get the phone and let everyone know how it degrades around my house.
Is there a bandwidth cap? I am on my wireless n and can't seem to break 15/15 on speed test from my phone but from my pc I get 30/25. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you using the speedtest.net app? It can be very inaccurate. I would try going to the website with your browser set to desktop mode.
Ah, thanks. Still a little slower than my pc but much faster than the app. The app was pretty far off
Switch servers in the mobile app, I've gotten a wide variety of speeds sitting in the same location.

Also make sure in the advanced wifi settings you have it set to 'max performance'... otherwise it's just g, or lower power...
Hello, I am having a problem where WiFi only negotiates the lowest speed possible. In 2.4Ghz its 1mpbs and on 5Ghz its 6mpbs. I've tried three different routers, different roms, aosp, and it always acts the same way. I also have the latest radio version 1.12.11.1210 and running HBOOT 1.12 S-Off. Any recommendations?
Try downloading something and then check your link speed to see if it goes up. I've noticed that mine seems to idle pretty low as well but then goes up to 65 or so while actively using the connection. I'm guessing it displays the current link speed as opposed to the max theoretical speed like Windows does.

Yeah I thought about that too, but it makes no difference. I even tried a speed test and it stays at 1 mbps, when all my other devices go 30+ (EVO 3D, Nexus 7, computer, TV, etc...)
I see that you have tried multiple wireless routers. Is your evo the only device connected? I ask because slower devices can cause a speed cap on your wireless.
Have you tested your modem to make sure its not the issue ??
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always=LTE
Set your router to G only and re-test.
My router works just like yours if I have it set to multi band, (B, G, N, etc.)
When I switch it to use G only, it flies. See attached screenshots. First one is set to G only - second one is auto or multi.

I have a few other devices connected (EVO 3D, Nexus 7, laptop, PC, SMART tv) and they all work fine.
I tried mine on just N and it was sloooooooow. Only when set to G only do I get good speeds. It isn't just me either. I have seen a few post on this forum about this. That's how I learned to try it.

Well I tried setting it to G, but it was even worse. Any other suggestions? Right now 5ghz N is the most tolerable, where the lowest rate is 6 mpbs.
I'm at a loss. Good luck. Hope you get it figured out.

Try disconnecting all devices from it and testing with just your phone accessing the access point. If the speed picks up, then one of the other devices is pulling your standard low.

What type of router are you using atm? Can you toggle between 20/40 mhz channels and short/long guard intervals? Also, I'm assuming you're testing next to the router, no obstructions between it and the phone?

I would suggest turning off the security (WEP, WPA/WPA2) and see if that helps. If it does, try using different types of encryption until you find the fastest.
hello guys,if u dont have high speed internet and want to download new custom roms or anything big for galaxy star then u can do this
steps to do:
#Idea sim(3g enabled) needed
with 0rs balance(for no balance deduct after 3g plans over)
#3g dongle and a pc or laptop
tip:if u want wifi then create hotspot with connectify
#7rs idea 3g plan
activation:just ask your nearest mobile recharge shop to recharge your mobile for rs 7.
#after recharge u will recieve unlimited 3g for 20 mins that mean u can download bigfiles upto 600mb with 450-600kbps speed in 20 minutes.
#download or upload custom roms easily
note:
#this plan is not available on some idea plan charts and plan is currently active-INDIA only.
#i would recommend u to ready all download links in IDM before recharge.
#this plan automatically stops or finish after 12 minutes (at first recharge) so keep noticing.on second recharge u will get full 20 minutes.
#u can activate this plan many times u want in a day.
#zero balance is needed because they will deduct balance without any notice for plan over.
PLEASE THANKS ME IF I HELPED YOU.
but our star isn't support 3g ?!

Sorry, but I can't imagine for what purpose you could use 200+ Mbit/s transferrates on a Smartphone. Regardless of my personal opinion, I have absolutely no clue how to "optimize" the settings to reach these rates. But I will test it for myself so I can provide you some comparative values. :good:
