Rooted via CF Root but no Busybox - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,so i had rooted my sgs2 4.0.3 build XWLP7 via Cf root 5.4 but there's NO BUSY BOX,and all tha apps say i have NO ROOT ACCESS.
What i did was i went to download mode, started odin, put in the cf root file as pda and started it.Everything happened fine. Then i started super one click v 2.3.3 and when i pressed root,it said IT APPEARS YOUR PHONE IS ALREADY ROOTED. i continued anyways and it finished it. then the phone asked me for superuser permission and i granted it. I also flashed the Resurrection remix 2.3.5 and it worked fine. The problem is,none of the root apps work,no titanium backup,no my backup pro.then i got some root checker apps from the market and they all said I HAVE NO ROOT ACCESS and BUSYBOX is not installed. i tried to install busybox via a different route but it also said No Root. Despite all this i am able to use the CWM mode, recovery mode, and the yellow trianglel appears on booting.
Can anyone please tell me where i went wrong, and now what can i do to correct it ?
Thakns in advance

Flash the CFRoot kernel again in the first instance. If that doesn't work, maybe try flashing the other LP7 CFRoot kernel (there's 2 in the thread).

Thanks !

Next time don't use superoneclick. CF Root should work just fine.

Alternative kernal to CF Root for DUKF2 or DUKF1?

I've rooted before on my old backflip, I know the process as that was a busy lil phone to root.
Now with my g2 I'm stumped at finding a proper insecure kernal. I rooted it using the superone click method, I tried installing a supposed alternate kernal for dukf1 using odin, nothing works.
I get root access, but when I go into rom manager, install the latest clockwork mod recovery and reboot, I just get stuff telling me such and such did not install, with an option to either install an update from SD or reboot the phone.
What am I doing wrong, and does anyone know the kernal I SHOULD be flashing, or if any chainfire versions work with dukf1 or dukf2.
I'd love some insight on this!

[Q] No superuser permission after following root procedure

Hi all,
I rooted my galaxy s 2 a few weeks back with no problems. I followed the dummy's guide on a different forum, using odin and flashing a new kernel.
But then I decided to unroot which I did with no problems either -I went into the superuser app and checking the unroot box which uninstalled superuser and removed root on the phone (it left CWM though).
Today, I've decided to reroot it like I did the first time. However, this time superuser didn't install and I don't have root access at all.
Any ideas on what I should do?

Given you're using a method from a different site that people here may not have experience with, no idea. Me, I'd flash a CFRoot kernel (assuming you have an I9100 or I9100T; if you don't, do not flash one of these kernels. You might end up bricking your phone). Instructions in this thread are very clear, take your time & read the first page thoroughly & make sure you understand the process clearly before you try it. The section in bold red which says 'Help ! Which file do I use ?' has the info which will help you work out which CFRoot kernel to use.

Thanks for the reply MistahBungle. That's exactly the process that I followed. Didn't have any problems with the rooting process - downloaded the LP9 kernel, entered phone into download mode, and flashed the kernel using Odin. Got the yellow triangle.
I suspect the problem arose because I 'unrooted' it through the superuser app, which then got rid of the superuser app?
Today, I tried following the same process but superuser won't uninstall. I downloaded the root checker basic app which also said the galaxy s 2 doesn't have root permission even though I followed the same process.

Edit - Although first up, before you do anything else, have you tried installing Su from Google Play ?

Yes I have downloaded and installed the superuser app from the market, but it doesn't have any root permissions I don't think. I also tried opening up the CWM app but it says it needs SU permissions (which it doesn't have because SU is not installed and I cant seem to root it).
What to do? I'm thinking of trying another root method on xda i.e. the busybox one that doesn't require flashing an unstable kernel.

Cannot re-root using CF-root 6.4 on I9300TDUBLH1

I'm having issues after updating to latest Stock Vodafone Australia Firmware PDA:I9300TDUBLH1 CSC:I9300TVAUBLH1.
I cannot re-root SGS3 using CF Root 6.4. It doesn't install the SU binaries nor CWM, but on Odin it shows success patching the CF root 6.4 tar file.
My flash count goes up by 1, seen from download mode screen, but do not see any warning symbol at boot.
No CWM or Superuser installed. All rooted programs complain cannot access root.
Need some help here. Anyone else got their's working? No mention of anything on XDA that it doesn't work with LH1.
I used to have I9300TDUBLF2, and it works perfectly fine before flashing to the latest I9300TDUBLH1 yesterday. Some pointers please.
Hey, this might be pointing out the obvious, like restarting the computer. But are you sure you unzipped the ZIP to a TAR file, or put the TAR file in some other place other than the PDA section in ODIN, or ticked re-partition. But probably not seeings most of those would brick your phone. I got the update to the same firmare and rooting worked perfectly, if not better.
Possibly, you may have to wait till 4.1.1 comes out (said to be tomorrow 29th August), install it, and root when the com has discovered how to
Another chance could be the version of Odin you are running
Hi!
Just try again.
Had to install a couple of times before it worked.
The problem is also explained in the CF root thread.
I am on vodafone AUS as well and I am having the same problem with multiple attempts using CF-Root. I am wondering the the S3 toolkit v5 will work instead?
Thanks

Not able to ROOT 4.1.2

Hi,
I have tried rooting my SGS3 after updating to 4.1.2.
I am flashing CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 via ODIN. It says everything has completing successfully and the square turns green....no errors etc.
When i got to the menu, SuperSU is not present. Apps are not able to get root permissions. CWM is installed however.
Has anyone experience this before? Any suggestions?
Thanks.
try cf-autoroot cos i believe the cf-root is not supported anymore.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273
It can take multiple attempts for the root to kick in. If you don't see the CF-Root script kick in after using ODIN you need to try again.
The other option is to use the Exynos 4 root exploit APK.
It works for me ive done it 3 times. on 4.1.2 xxelkc
dont try exynos exploit or whatever may break your camera
CF Root 6.4 works .

[Q] Says its rooted, but I have no root access

Hello, I am a complete noob with android software and these forum websites.
I bought a the standard Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 a few months ago, rooted it but since then I still have no root access. This is the first time I've signed up for any website to ask for help, because I cant find any solution to fixing it.
I followed a simple guide, which instructed to use odin, and the Siyah kernal. It said the root was successful and superuser + CWM was installed.
On the Superuser Binary Updater, its says the latest version is 3.1.1 but I only have 3.0.3.2. When I try update, it says "Gaining root access... fail!"
The 'Root Checker Basic' app tells me "This device does not have proper root access"
I was suggested to use OneClickRoot. I try it, and it tells me my device is already rooted.
I am using:
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version I9100XXLS8
Kernal version 3.0.31 siyah-s2-v6.0b5
Please help me gain root access without wiping the data off my phone. I dont want to modify the way the system looks or works, all I want is root access. Sorry if this posted in the wrong place, this site is confusing for me
Flash Siyah again (through CWRecovery if the flash was successful enough to install it, if not through Odin again).

I've tried doing it again through Odin and still no change. Is it possible that I'm doing it wrong? After many searches I see there's multiple ways of rooting the device..
Can you please link me to correct instructions for using Odin? Just to be sure I'm doing it right
Siyah tar file in PDA section of Odin, click start. I don't know why people think this sort of thing is complicated when it's really very simple.
