The stock headset is pretty good on the Xperia P. It is actually one step up from the one on the S which is also really good.

[Q] Bose MIE2 headset and Xperia X10 issue

Bose MIE2 and Xperia X10 does not pair. Mic is not working and sound is weird. But MIE2 is working great in other phones.
Did sony ericsson changed the stereo and mic channels in 3.5mm jack. I feel i wasted 200AU$.
Why sony ericsson did not adopt industry standard for 3.5mm jack. I regret buying Xperia X10.
Any solution?.

Oops.. thanks for the alert dude..
Dear all,
I have also stumbled upon the fact my Xperia does not support the MIE2.. However i was also experiencing a weird "karaoke" effect with the sound, when i pushed the speak button on the headset this sound would dissapear.
Lucky for me, i have got an old "Jabra BT3030" Bluetooth headset (Used it for my touch diamond since it was not equipped with a jack-out, along with the old Bose in-ears).
I can confirm, the MIE2 works considering sound when routed through the jabra, however; -Mic button does not function.
So for you out there that have an Xperia, do not purchase the MIE2, get the IE2.. and for those that couldn't be bothered with switching it around, use a bluetooth headset to fool the Xperia ^^..
Good luck,
Dennis

You can get an adapter here, to use other types of headphones with the Xperia X10 without having to press the mic button...

HTH.

3.5mm

As for Sony 2011 Android phones, the 3.5mm is not compatible with almost all normal 3.5mm headset (headset, not headphone, headphone works fine while most headset can't be recognized - when it can't be recognized, it cannot be used for phone calls nor listening music) I can only manage to work with the in-box head set. Even Sony's own headset does not work
So has the Xperia S fixed this issue?

Yes, the Xperia S uses the same 3.5 as the iPhone (and thus most headsets).

I am sorry, but I barely understand your problem. Sony Ericsson phones, so up to 2011 (Arc, Arc S, Ray, Play, Neo, X10, Mini Pro, etc.) use 3.5mm jack using OMTP standard. New Xperia line from 2012 (Sony branded phones - Xperia S, P and U) use CTIA standard of 3.5mm jack (same as iPhone). So headset (with mic) from 2011 phone won't fully work with Sony Xperia from 2012, and headset from Sony Xperia S (2012) won't fully work on phone from 2011.
By fully work I mean, you possibly won't be able to use button to redial, or skip tracks in media player, possibly problems with sound as well. So there is no issue Sony has to fix.

Oh so I don't understand Sony decision about using a different standard on 2011 devices. Now I stick with the headset comes in the box for my ray, or use bluetooth. I hope I can use my beats headset after the ICS upgrade for my ray.

That was an Ericsson decision I think - Sony themselves made CTIA headsets for the iDevices.
I do not think your beats headset will work on the Ray, as I *believe* it's hardware, not software. Otherwise, anyone with a custom ROM on the SE phones could have used the CTIA headsets.
Just received my Xperia play. The sound seems abnormal, muffled, no bass at all. Mine didn't come with earphones. Tried several earphones and headphones but saw no difference. What might be the problem?
I'm able to use all the headset functions from my HTC Desire Z headset (2010) on my Xperia P (2012)
I haven't tried on any 2011 devices though.

compatible earphones for xperia mini pro

hi friends
I have an xmp
earphones were workin good til last night
but today morning de left side stopped workin

but since de 2011xperia series follow de OMTP standards I cannot use jus another 3.5mm earphones
can any of u pls suggest me any that ARE compatible with my mini pro
mostly anything other that de stock ones
thanx in advance
i think you can use any headphones you want... i've tried like 5-6 headphones on LWW, and every single one of them worked, and i dont see a reason why wouldnt they... The only difference is with those headphones that have microphone, and they have 4pin instead of 3pin connector, but that doesnt really matter, audio connector is designed to work with both connectors.
well that's surprising
my friend owned an s2
n currently a note
I have tried both his earphones
n he's tried mine
when he tried mine
de quality was poor
n when I tried his it said
accessory not supported
that's when I read that not al are supported
oly Sony's
jus like de iphone
:-/

Yeah, sometimes it doesnt work the other way around, i.e. the ones with 4pins (original headphones for my LWW for example) wont work in devices that do not support 4pin headphones (audio output on my pc), and it'll either sound mono or even crappier than that But you can buy 4 to 3 pin 3.5mm audio adapter for like a buck on ebay.

I currently have Sennheiser CX55, but i've tested with other Sennheiser headphones i own (HD202, 415, 465) and few older Nokia/SE headphones. All mentioned headphones have 3pin (regular - without a mic) 3.5mm audio jacks.
thank u
I have found de product
Earphone that comes with Xperia Mini Pro is bit chunky, i mean quite cheap one, I like the Live With Walkman Headphone, looks and sound are great.

They actually suck big time... I had SE W580i (also Walkman series) before LWW, and it had MUCH much better headphones...
whats the cheapest headset with good sound quality and sound cancellation?
You're going to need to buy an adapter like the Fiio Lu1 which can make iPhone headsets work with the Xperia Mini Pro.
I really, really hope you're making a clear distinction between headsets and headphones.
Headphones will work 90% of the time, our problem are these proprietary sony headset connectors. Most of the "good" headsets out there (Beats and the like) are designed for the iPhone and similar devices, and our phones don't play ball with them.
I'm using Skullcandy and I think it's pretty good . You know It doesn't hurt my ears :]

I bouht a Ultimate Ears 200vi. It works great with My Nexus 7 but not with my Xperia Mini pro.
Is there any difference in the connector?
Yes there is. Your Nexus (and pretty much everything else) uses a CTIA connector. while older Xperia devices use the OMTP spec.
You could just go ahead and buy a CTIA-to-OMTP adapter, or crack your mic open and reverse the GND and Vmic wires.

Yes, you can.
Bluetooth headphones(and speakers) using BT 4.0, 3.0 and 2.1 will all work with the Xperia X10i.
You just don't get all the features a BT 4.0 Headphone can provide, but it will still work.
