ROM Manager asks to install a different version of CWM than team epic provides here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28113755
Anyone know what the difference is? The only reason I prefer to use ROM Manager is that its easy to name backup files so I can keep them organized when I go between different roms.
Speaking of ROM Manager, anyone having success using it on their GS3 for backups and such?

I had team epics Cwm & it was working fine & writing backups to my external storage as well as allowing me to install zips etc from external storage. I flashed the cwm from rom Manager & it says it can't find my external sd card, so I'm going back to team epics version myself. Some have said that Rom managers version worked for them, but a lot of ppl I've talked to said it hasn't. If you've got a working version, I'd stick with it for now. I hope I've helped you out some...
I just gave it another try.
My update: The CWM flashed from ROM manager seems to work fine on its own (identically to the team epic version, including ext sd backups), but the ROM manager app doesn't seem to function well. It wont initiate a backup from the app UI without an error message in CWM, and the app ui can't see backups on the external SD card.
So the CWM version is fine, but the ROM manager app is still non-working.
(this is on sprint gs3)

If you put spaces in the name of your backup file in ROM Manager you will get a Md5sum error when restoring your backup.
To fix, boot back into your current ROM and using Root Explorer or an equivalent file manager, remove the spaces and try again under recovery. Should work now, unless you truly have a corrupted file....
Also I do not recommend Rom Manager on the SGS2. A lot of people complain about bad backups and problems with flashing or restoring!
There have been problems with some roms and Rom Manager because the CWM recovery that Rom Monager "flashes" is not a real recovery. It is only an update.zip file placed on the internal SD card of the phone. The real CWM is the one that is combined with your kernal.
However, for those flashing CM7 nightlies, it is still a useful tool as it makes downloading and flashing new updates almost a one click and fool proof exercise. Importantly, Rom Manager makes sure that the files (including restoring your backups) are not corrupted or incomplete through the MD5sum check. Not sure if real CWM kernals do the same so I like to use Rom Manager to make sure nothing goes wrong.
For those having difficulty booting into proper recovery from Rom Manager, there is a free app called Quick Reboot which works well.
Hello,..
I have installed CyanogenMOD 7 on my Atrix and now i have some Questions,..
The first is, How i can use the original KEyboards from Motorola, i have copied the Keyboard from my Original ROM but it didn´t work.
The second Question is How can i use my second Storage in the Recovery?
Thx for reading..
You would go to Settings- CynogenMod Settings-and then you would go to Application settings I believe is what it is called then check the box that says "Use Internal Storage" You must reboot for that to work though. And for the keyboard, I don't think it will work because it relies on certain motorola dependincies. But if you want to try, copy it to /data/app

Go to the market and download Gingerbread Keyboard, it's basically the stock keyboard. If you're using ROM Manager and I remember correctly only uses external SD by default and has no option to switch between the two like RomRacer's CWM (which is what I use).
There are some storage options in the CyanogenMod settings that allow you to switch things around but I just left them as they were so I don't want to comment on it and give you the wrong information.
If everyone reads the thread about INSTALLING this ROM, you should be using either one of two recoveries based on what the devs are telling us. Either flash the recovery from Rom Manager *get from market*, or flash this one through fastboot https://atrix-dev-team.googlecode.com/files/recovery-cwm-ext4.img The reason being is that those two properly support ext4-formatting, which is what CM7 uses. Stock Gingerbread uses ext-3, which RomRacer's does not properly support if you look on his thread. But people seem to think it does. Will CM7 install if you use Romracers recovery? Maybe. But I'd be safe and use one of the two above. Now you already HAVE CM7, so if you have one of the two above, you won't be able to use your *second storage*, or External Storage, when accessing the recovery through the above options. So anything you flash you'll have to stick on internal storage. Also, a better option for a keyboard is the new Swype, which I now use and LOVE. Get it here. http://beta.swype.com/

I've never had an issue installing CM7 with RomRacer's CWM. Same with a couple other people I know that use it. The upside to RomRacer's is it has the option to select Internal and External when it comes to flashing a .zip
thx, for help..
i have installed swype again, i think it is the best keyboard,..
Sms delivery reports, work in a single flashing Bell GB 2.3.4: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php? T = 1195922 (similar only in this one all 2.3.4), this information can help to correct? Sorry for my bad English

I recently decided to try MROM (I currently have CM7) so I backed up my current ROM and installed MROM. When I tried to check if I could restore my previous ROM, ROM Manager did not list my latest backups, but instead, listed some really old backups. I checked the clockworkmod folder to see if the latest backups were there and they were. Now, for some reason, ROM Manager was looking in the emmc folder, and not the sdcard (where the latest backups were) and I don't know if there's a way to change where it looks for the backups. I changed the settings to use an external sdcard (I don't know if that would help but I tried) and it didn't help. I then booted into recovery and tried the restore option there and I was able to see my latest backups.
I'm not sure why ROM Manager was unable to see them but booting in recovery worked fine. I want to try MROM (and I know I can restore from the recovery console if I really have to) but I just want to understand why this was happening and if there was another way to restore my backups (ROM Manager saves backups in ext3.tar format and I don't know how to use that with adb).
Don't bother with rom manager. I always get rid of it on every cm rom I try. Its pointless. Your recovery works and its a better option IMO.
Thanks! I would still like to know what's going wrong though, if possible, and also if there's a way to restore a backup saved in ext3.tar format using adb.

Hard to tell. You may never find out. ROM Manager can indeed be weird like that, and is in my opinion unreliable.

The backup is a regular TAR archive (as the name suggests). Most recoveries contain the tar tool which you can use to restore the backup.
title shows the way it is...i've had it UP TO HERE with Boot manager.
I love the HTC Sense 4.1 camera on Newts HTC One XxX ROM but I dont like the bloaty sense framework that It has...right now i'm running AOKP 1.6 Linaro because it's fast and has no sense. unfortunately, I can't have both..and I found out that an app can "dual boot" your phone into 2 separate ROMS so that you can enjoy both. However i've been having NOTHING but PROBLEMS with boot manager. What started off as a simple idea has become a curse spewing nightmare
I'm s-Off and running Snuzzo's kernel from AOKP 1.6
1. I've searched the forums and done everything that other people have said
2. I'm using the Lite Version of Boot Manager since I only need one slot.
3. I have errors with "Error building new boot.img"
4. Disabled SU Logging and even wiped and tried SuperSU instead! (with logging disabled of course)
5. tried to install slot 1 via Zip file AND NANDROID BACKUP. Still having issues!
6. When installs are successful with no errors, when rebooting into the SDCARD Rom it just hangs at the HTC splash screen. mocking me.
7. Tried installing from external and internal storage..same problems...and i'm having a flip flop issue as well in regards to that..**
I'm at my wits end and am about to scrap this whole dual boot idea
**What I will say is that file explorer apps show my SD card as Internal Storage. and the internal storage shows my SDcard files...dafuq?! maybe SD card format?? that's for another forum question though...
If anyone can help me get this to work..I'll thank you and be sure to buy the app. But as for now...I'm glad I didn't spend my damn money!

From what ive heard the app has been abandoned by the developers. I wanted to dual boot too but I got the same error with the error building new boot.img as well so i quit trying. btw are you s-off? the app requires s-off so it can flash the other boot.img of the Sd roms.

yes..I'm S-Off and recently in April of this year the developer made an update to support the Rezound. So even if the app has been abandoned for future devices....it supports the Rezound...and I've looked in the forums and people HAVE got it working on the Rezound. Pisses me off that It's not working for me

Same with me it was part of the reason i went to s-off. Hopefully sometime in the future the dev of the app can update it to fix the bugs.

what about the other people that have got it working???...how come they didn't have to quit?
Maybe the AOKP ROM i'm using is bad (since the SD CARD and INTERNAL MEMORY labels are switched and it possibly is confusing the boot partition)...perhaps I should try installing the AOKP Rom on sense
Took me a few tries but I did this :
Use ext4
Use internal sd
Force screen on
Install from nandroid
For me it's actually easier to just restore nandroids if u wanna jump from one rom to another..
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Squirrel is right ot much easier to just make a nandroid and bounce back and forth..

In AOKP the labels are switched..so use the bullet option "external SD" because the internal SD is labeled as the external.
INTERESTING: when I set boot manager to install to internal (i have to select "external) it STILL installs it to the sdcard but in a folder that says sdcard/sd-ext.
NOT to the actual internal memory. I will move that folder to the real internal memory when the install finishes and see if it will work. If not. I'm almost POSITIVE that the switched Internal Memory and SD card labels in AOKP are to blame...and it that's not the problem. boot manager can f$#k itself.
Edit: I fuking quit. I did everything and the install worked from a sense ROM.but it past the splash screen and hung at a black screen.
I'm such a whore for screencast and that 4.1 Sense camera..i'll stay with One xXx for a while (even though sense ROMS are against my grain)
Boot manager hasn't worked properly with aosp since the mount points were fixed in aosp. It's the way it differs from sense. Using emmc as internal unlike sense which It's mounted as sd card. You can use it to switch between sense roms all you want to but not aosp

im not sure if this is one of the problems but i noticed when i tried to use it earlier that it asked if i was on the newest hboot (2.21) or an older one but we are actually on 2.27 so that could be messing with things
I used to use Boot Manager with 2.25 with no issues, and there isn't much difference between 2.25 and 2.27.
I'm in a very similar boat....I have a recent ota RUU and s-off and bootmanager actually installs for me (yay) but I never have data. EVER. Data never works for any slot roms, only for my phone rom. I hear this is because of AOKP vs sense. My phone rom is Viper rom, and I tried to put AOKP linario for my slot 1. It installs and boots fine but I dont have data. I also tried MIUI but again no data. However if I put them on my phone rom, I have data. I figured I put it on the phone rom, make a nand, put viper back as my phone rom, then nand restore MIUI or linario to a different slot ..... no go - still no data. I think I read here that at this point I can only user boot manager to switch between sense roms and not between aokp/sense.
If it's also true that they dropped support for it I will be extremely sad. I paid for an app that doesn't even work/have suppor then .......
I actually just pm'd both devs the other day. I'd have emailed but their email rejects anything saying "over quota" or something. And their forums give me a 500 http server error.
If you make and headway let me know because I'm lost too
I'm rooted, cwm recovery from the all in one tool, tying to do a nandroid. When I go into Rom manager it says no recovery available, told it to use existing recovery, it makes its backups up a secure location it says...don't remember the file path...but when I try to restore it gives me md5 mismatch (should note still on just stock rooted) backups through cwm work but the second I open file manager it moves the directory from extsd back to the secure one and no longer works. I took the sd card from my s3 which was rooted and just put it in the s4 without formatting it so I still have my old nandroids on the card from that and I don't know if that's what's causing the problem or if Rom manager just doesn't work for this phone yet...anyone else come across this? I think the multiple cwm directories might be messing with it but what to be sure before I format the card n reload everything I want in it being Rom manager doesn't seem to have this phone in its database yet

Romance manager has never worked completely on most devices. Even people in the S3 threads will tell you not to use it. Do everything from the recovery menus
Wayne Tech Nexus
I always used it on my s3 n never had any problems, only reason I even use it is to rename the backups cuz I end up with so many diff rooms and can't remember which one is which...guess I'm better off just doing it in root explorer to rename n know they're going to work...I can't even find the directory that Rom manager is trying to save them to, doesn't seem to exist anywhere but in the app itself

goomanager
I use goomanager and the backup goes to my ext sdcard,twrp,backups,10cc6657,i like goomanager because lets you choose where do you want the backup in the sdcard0 or ext sdcard.
