Battery / case - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Anyone know if this will work with out I717?

Thanks!
Jamie

It probably will. I got this one from amazon. It has a small usb plug that you put into the bottom of the note rather than the built in plug like in the one you linked. This one took a couple of hours to charge since it wasn't empty when I got it. I put my note in it and the case doesn't fit as tight as I would like but it works. I can even use it with the Seidio holster that came with the active case combo. The kickstand felt cheap made. I turned on the charger when the note got down to 41%. A couple of hours later it was at 80% but I was using the note some while it was charging. I believe the output of the case-charger on it is 500Mah. Overall I am satisfied with it. It makes a good alternative to an extended battery. If they would make a holster or belt clip that would work with the mugen battery installed I would jump on that.

It probably won't. I had their EVO 4G version with the slot to charge the extra battery and that didn't either.
if you have a case on your phone do you have to take the case off to make it fit when charging?
Seems like it, may work with the stick on decal skin though. Why can't they make an removeable insert like the iGrip car dock is beyond me....
I would like to know if it will activate dock mode on the phone.

Thanks for the info! I actually think I like that one better than the one I ordered off of ebay a few days ago. I may get this one too and then have one for work and one for home, but I use the Defender at work so that would be an issue...I dont know, just thinking out loud...
I had my eye on that one for about a month and kept searching for a US seller to buy it from as it would be easier to return if anything was wrong with it. I finally found one last week at Amazon that looks like the same one, but rebranded: "RND Power Solutions Deluxe 2nd Battery Charger and Data Sync Cradle / Desktop Docking Station for HTC EVO 3D".
Search Amazon for ASIN: B005DIJOZQ and you'll find it.
The one I ordered arrived today and I am now testing it. So far, so good. It does a good job of charging the phone and holds the device at a good angle for watching shows, etc. I watched two episodes of 'Game of Thrones' on HBOGo using this cradle tonight.
I like the spare battery slot because it holds the battery upright instead of horizontally and uses less desk space. I'm still charging a battery in the slot now, so I can't tell you how well the spare battery slot works yet, outside of noting it is a bit of a snug fit, even for the OEM battery that came with my Evo, but it does seem to fit.
There are two LED lights on the front. So far, the left light remains blue and the right light remains green. I haven't seen them change as I've charged batteries or removed phone or battery from the phone, so I'm not sure they do anything significant at all.
I'll report back when I've had enough time to charge the spare battery in the slot now. I am very interested to hear reports from anyone who buys the Kidigi branded cradle too. I need a second cradle so I have one for the home and another for work, and I'm waiting to buy the second until I've had some time to test this one.
Oh yeah, I can confirm that the RND branded cradle I ordered from Amazon only fits the phone in the original case or at least cases that add no extra dimension to the Evo 3D. Also, the spare battery slot would not fit an extended battery that is larger in dimension than the original battery.

The RND model I bought does not activate dock mode automatically. If it truly is the Kidigi model with rebranding, then I expect the Kidigi model doesn't either.
It looks nice...not a bad price either...

My eBay dock came in today and I love it! Big thing for me is charging an extra battery, which the eBay dock does. Also, my phone fits in the dock with either the HTC silicone case or the Otterbox Impact, but the charging nipple doesn't go in deep enough to trigger charging. I'm sure that could be modified to work quite easily though if anyone cared to, I don't....

After testing the RND dock I posted about yesterday, I have found that the spare battery slot doesn't work very well. You have to fiddle with a battery to get it to make a good contact and it's pretty unreliable for charging the spare.
The dock section for the phone works well, but if you are like me and want a dock that simultaneously charges a spare battery, pass on the RND model.
If someone has a better experience with the Kidigi model, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I still think it likely these are the same cradle branded differently, but I could very well be wrong. The pictures just look too close for comfort for me.
supposedly, the Seidio model, which does NOT have a spare battery compartment, does activate dock mode, and since there are removable inserts, will fit phone with some cases still on them..I ordered one, and hoping for delivery today or tomorrow
copped the kidigi model finally after going back and forth
I really wanted that one as well, but, I don't want to have to take my case off constantly to dock the phone when at my desk; I hope the Seidio dock allows for my otter box to stay on while docked..
I tried to order that Kidigi dock when they first posted it, but even a month ago, they were only saying "tentative" shipping in August...Let us know how it works for you!

Do you have a link or a brand name?

Any experiences on this desk charger from ebay?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Battery...818692?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43aa59c504
Looking to pick one up for primarily charging/syncing but most likely will be just charging since USB charges slower than the wall but I'm not sure if this charger charges at 1A or not.
I just ordered one yesterday. I need it to charge the fat extended batteries in the back slot. I am hoping that that if it doesn't come with a 1.0ma charger, I will be able to use one that I already have and get a decent charge time.
ive bought many ebay docks for many phones from many chineese dealers. these days i only buy from nakedcellphone
Only see one pic in the link when viewing on my phone, maybe there's only 1 pic, not sure. Anyway, from what I can tell, it looks just like the one I have. Mine works great for charging my phone and my HTC and Anker batteries. Phone docks nicely naked, and actually also works with some silicone an tpu cases. Seidio Surface w/kickstand case works, and even my Otterbox Commuter which really surprised me!! The charging tip just barely goes in deep enough to initiate charging with the Commuter. That's the only issue when trying to dock with thicker cases: The phone/case fits in the dock, but the charging tip isn't long enough to initiate charging. I assume that if it was much longer though it would cause the phone to not sit flat because the charging tip wouldn't bottom out in the phone (hope I'm making since here where you can understand me, lol, trying to explain it where it makes since).
Anyway, bottom line is the dock works great and well worth the money. I bought a generic dock for my Evo 4G and it never gave me a single issue. To my knowledge its still working great for the guy who bought my Evo 4G an all accessories... I'm gonna buy a generic Ebay dock for whichever phone I purchase next too. I have yet to see the need to spend more money on a dock with a name printed on it. Most of those don't have a spot in the back to charge an extra battery either, which is an absolute must for me! I probably use the battery charger more than the dock itself. Go for it, you won't be disappointed!!

Extended Battery Case

Short version:
We would like an extended battery case that slips over our EVO LTE like much like a normal case would. This case would however have a USB that plugs into our phone and adds additional battery life. $49.99 will be a good price. Thanks.
P.S. If someone could please link to the site that makes these power packs, that would be great.
Schlong version:
2000 mAh stock battery won't cut it for me. It's big, but not BBC big. I'm use to a big 3500 mAh battery in my OG Hero/Epic 4G.
I need a nice, big, black, thick, powered battery case to go over my unit. This will ensure it's protected and juiced up. Ya, now getting back to the phone....
The thought of carrying around a big power brick to charge my phone is just disgusting and IDK when it became acceptable to XDA users to do this. You didn't do this when you bought your extended battery for your OG Epic 4G. Might as well just bring your charger and plug it in. I do own a 4000 mAh Energizer power brick and it's cool when I go camping or on road trips.......that's it. Not really on road trips because i'll use a cigarette lighter charger. That's much cooler and I get to annoy the driver and passenger as I sit on the floor between them.
I want to charge my phone over night and be set for two days. I need this power. It is not a question of will I use that much. Yes, yes I will. And you will too. We need an extended battery case similar to the Galaxy S II power pack on youtube. Look it up. You will cry out the code for HTC's kernel. Think about it. You know you want it.

I'm looking for something just like that. Hopefully since HTC is moving towards non-removable batteries more companies will put out these kind of products.
i wouldn't mind a case that has a built in swappable battery, and wireless charging
I want one of these for our new phones!!
removed
Having the plug stuck out like that on the silicone portion of the case scares me. Coming from the OG Evo, I'm experiencing the dead usb port problem, which is caused mostly by USB cords being pulled/weighted (e.g. usb cords in cars pulling from below while on landscape). I almost think that something like this needs to be a two piece hard case that slides together from the sides and prevents any flexing of the plug, otherwise we're going to see something like a user accidentally swiping a hard surface with the plug side of the phone and breaking the usb port. Of course, no interchangeable batteries makes this situation a really tough one.
Might be interested if the case WASN'T Silicone... that **** is horrible. Now, TPU or something better like the material used for the Speck iCrap phones, I'm sold!
Check my thread on the official extended battery request.
Seidio is making one.

There is a case being made by seidio
there is a case like that being made from seidio and slated for a july release.....
well i just saw the seidio power case for the iphone, and im very optomistic based on the design for the battery case that it wont add as much bulk as xpal powerskin would add. http://youtu.be/nlfJmmYjPKU
It looks pretty slim before the silicone is added on.
I assume since this is seidio first battery case that their version for the evo 4g lte will look very similar.

Otterbox Defender and Extended Battery Mod, (cutting required)

Ok, so this is my first thread on these forums. If I'm breaking the rules or posting incorrectly, etc. Please let me know how to fix it.
I went ahead and got all the measurements off of various sites before I attempted this. I lost the paper I wrote the dimensions on. But this does work. I used an exacto knife, old pair of wire cutters and a file. I wish I had a dremel to do this, It would've been a lot cleaner and more exact.
I ordered an OEM Thunderbolt Extended Battery, Otterbox Defender Case, and a Zagg Screen Protector. I've been using this setup for a month now and am very pleased.
I spent $65 total on amazon.com and zagg.com for everything.
I first laid the battery in the battery cover and scored the edges. I pushed through it on one corner than began to cut. I filed down the edges. I then laid the cover in the Otterbox case and scored the outline. Then I ran the exacto back and forth for quite a while until I got through on one edge, than began to cut.
Here are my results. I know the images aren't the best quality. I haven't bought a new camera since before I've had my first android.
I peeled a bit of the padding out of the back of the Otterbox case and put it on the battery just to see how much it would push out the silicon cover, not much.
Now I am going to double-side tape the left over rectangle of the battery cover to the battery and get some weather stripping and place it on top of that.
The Zagg and the Otterbox mate well at first, eventually they begin to separate around the edges, I used the spray between them that came with the Zagg shield. The Zagg stays in place though. I haven't noticed any dust or debris since it's started. So far over this month they've stayed together in the center. I don't mind it as I am pretty hard on my phones physically and usage wise. It's hard to tell when the screen is actually on.
If you have any questions that I haven't answered, just let me know.
Thanks for looking.
How well has this been working for you? I have been planning on doing the same thing.

I did something similar with my trident kraken case. I was going to get this otterbox but I didn't because trident has a better selection of colors and so far its been great.

I saw on htcpedia that you can actually use the Defender case without the back plastic piece. Just wrap the silicone outer cover around the phone with just the front plastic on. Haven't tried it but their video shows that it seems to fit perfect.
Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
The problem with doing that is the phone will not fit in the holster screen out and the volume buttons are way to sensitive. If you cut the otter box back and the standard battery door everything fits nearly prefect.

I believe that also voids your (lifetime) warranty. Commuter cases are better anyway, but that's just me..
*Sent...*
You should read the fine print. Its hardly a lifetime warranty. In fact is only for a year. And if you have a flaw within that year, they will only replace it once. Besides, how many things can really go wrong with a phone case? Once it breaks, your probably ready for a different one anyway.
Sent from my rooted slightly modified Rezound using XDA
Just did this last night....and I agree, would be much easier with a dremel. I'm going to borrow a friends to smooth the cuts, but so far, it works like a champ. I used an OEM Rezound extended battery though

Thanks for the pics and info for this MOD I did it a few days ago and I love it you can't even tell that I added the extended battery. I picked up a battery from Verizon website on sale for 29.99 plus my 18% off. Worked out great.
Love the mod. I'm gonna do it my next day off. How solid does it feel? Does anything feel lose on the back? Also do you think this would work with the mugen 4000 mah battery?

Looks and fell you can't even tell you did the mod. I did nice clean cuts the battery cover was so close on my cuts a had to go back with sand paper as I was not getting cell service do to the antenna no connected. So take your time the OEM batt cover already has the outline of the battery so that cut is very easy. after that just lay the back cover in the outerbox and mark and cut you will be very happy with it.
I ended up doing it yesterday and I'm in love
. You really can't tell it's there. The only thing I'm wondering is the dimensions of the 4000 mah battery because I'm wondering if it will work with this mod. Can anyone chime in? Is it bigger then the OEM extended battery?

Well the 4000 mah battery has to be the same around so even if it is thicker I think the outerbox rubber will still give in and pull over it just fine.
Today I did the same case mods.
I purchased a used standard rezound back piece for $5 + $4 for shipping. This way if I screw up I only lose the used back piece.
Well I did a good tight job on the back piece. It's like HTC already put cutting lines inside the back piece to make it easier for us. I used a dremel tool with cutoff wheel. Also used a file to smooth it out.
On the defender box I cut the rectangle a little too low and had to lengthen the hole. But I don't think it matters that the hole is 1/8 inch larger than necessary.
I am generally pleased, but I suspect this leaves the phone more vulnerable to water damage if it becomes submerged in liquid.
Sorry to everyone for not checking on this thread in such a long time. This has had a very solid feel. I love the rezound. Also, as for the 4000mah battery. I looked at the youtube video about it. It is a tad thicker than the OEM extended battery. But I see no reason why it wouldn't fit. The silicon will stretch. I'm actually looking into getting the 4500mah battery from mugen for the thunderbolt to see if that will work. I don't mind the added bulk, obviously haha. I also need to clean my case up with my dremel. I've just been lazy. I can take pics of this phone later to show how it's held up. The only other thing is it is hard to fit the phone in screen out in the belt clip if you want to use it as a stand. With any mugen, imho, it will not fit that way at all. But regular face in, no battery will affect that.
I'd be careful about handing all that cash to mugen. Their batteries are under 80 percent of the claims.

[VIDEO] Verizon Wireless Droid DNA Wireless Charging with a TPU Case

I've been making little videos for the past couple of days since I bought so much little stuff. I'm exhausted. Basically went to a Verizon store, slapped my DNA down on the mat and it started charging. For something to work so well out of the box, I was a little surprised. Usually just about everything requires some kind of setting modification.
What I was really looking for was a case. I hated the fact that they only had a pink and blue TPU case. The Otterbox did show up online, but neither of the two stores I visited had them. For S&G, I went ahead and asked for the TPU case to try it on. It fits pretty snug, and I have other videos on that. What I really wanted to know is if the DNA would charge with the case on. While he was grabbing the case I hovered the phone over the mat. It charged. Good sign there...
After putting the TPU case on, I tested it out and everything worked. As I went home, I was thinking that the case would probably make the charging really slow. By the end of Black Friday my phone was pretty much dead. I got home, put it on the pad, and it does charge alright. I'll try to run the phone down twice in the future to compare the factory charger with the mat.
With the Otterbox Defender Case
EDIT: Added the video of the Otterbox Defender case. A little less forgiving on the placement. Expect charging times to increase even more. Even with the TPU case it looked like the charge took twice as long as with a MicroUSB cable. This is okay if you're going to have it on the charger more due to ease though.
With the Otterbox Commuter Case
Removal of Speaker from LG WCP-700
Many people don't like the speaker because it will cycle once charged and beep over and over again. Other solution would be to get use to it or take it off the charger once it is charged.
Thanks for this! I know a lot of people asked for that. I believe this charger is from the older gen of the wireless charging standard which allows for a distance of 4mm. So most cases should be fine. Don't quote me on this but the newest revision of the qi standard allows for 40mm which will be very nice. (good for building into desks and such)
Also as a fellow owner of the LG pad, having that extra distance would be nice because sometimes the phone has to be readjusted to get it to work.
Also works perfectly with the Verizon Shell/Holster combo. I keep the shell on for the built-in kickstand and it charges without issues.

No problem. I'm going to have to look at the standards now. I didn't think I'd enjoy this feature as much as I do. That was probably because I assumed the phone had to be naked.

Yes please do keep us posted once you get the otterbox because I'm looking at getting the same setup. I already have the black TPC case but want to go to the Commuter versus the Defender.

The otterbox defender case makes wireless charging almost not worth it but i can attest that it does work with the Lg pad from verizon.
Kind of depends on what you're goal is here. I think the wireless charger was designed for longer use from the beginning. Times when you ordinarily wouldn't go through the hassle of putting a phone on the charger, you can.
