how to force preference of the camera.app - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
when I open the camera.app it starts as a photographic camera.
Would it be possible to force the application to open with the video camera instead.
Thanks

It should start in whatever mode you were on when you last exited the app. At least, it does for me on a stock ROM.

Yes it is. If you are using custom luncher like Apex you can do like this. Add (Same way like adding widget)-> shortcut -> action -> camera -> video camera. And you should get icon on your desktop that will directly open video camera. There are at last few launchers that have such possibility, I know Apex for sure, because I checked it while before good luck

[MODED XAPS] Launch camera360 sight with the camera button

ya this is a modified xap which can be made as default camera app to launch with the camera button download from here
fileshub.in/5Da
Instructions unclear. **** stuck in SD card slot.
No really... This is just the Camera360 Sight app which can be downloaded from the store. No "launch from camera button" whatsoever. Move on people.

Only Microsoft Camera is shown as a "Default camera app" option.
During the installation of this Xap we lose Lumia Camera. In the file WMAppManifest the ProductID of Camera360 Sight was changed by the ProductID of Lumia camera.

It does not work on HTC 8x. That's for sure. It may be a different story on Lumias, not sure.

I don't quite understand your question. Do you want to put Google camera at your homescreen? or do you want to just change the icon of the Google camera?
Well if you want to do the first one, then you just have to drag and drop the icon at your homescreen, and if you want to do the latter one then you should install a third party launcher.

Hello Digigoon,
I would like to do the same as iMaxime.
We do not want to change icon in HOME screen, we would like to change application triggered by LOCK screen icon.
That is... we may not be able to have the fast picture feature in-build in Honor camera app, but we would be able to launch the third-party camera app from the lock screen. May be more complicated than that, but could you please help us? Is this even possible?
Cordially,
Xavi

As far as I know, you can't do that with stock ROM (or any that isnt customizable on that way). You'll need to download a launcher or an app do costumize your lockscreen

You may try and freeze the native camera app and install the app you want. If there is no FC, then any shortcut will lead to Google Camera as it will be assumed as the default (only) camera app.
I´ve removed myself some useless system apps and some others just can´t be removed. Never tried camera.
Settings > Apps > Advanced > Default App Settings > Camera.
If you change it from there, doesn't it get changed from the lock screen?

You can use a method described by Paul O'Brian but you will have to dig for it a bit.
I don't recall specifically but he used something like
pm.hide.something
To hide the native app and use the one you want. After that, it will use your custom app.
Tag him in the post and he can clarify more.

[APP] EMUI official 3D camera effect APP

I have noticed that the Chinese version of EMUI has the 3D camera plugin while the international version doesn't. There are other missing camera plugin missing on the international versions of EMUI 5, including intelligent recognition of objects and others. But here I can only extra the 3D module from the Chinese EMUI 5 system to you: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0Lwr5qUZkMbM192UVVMM2Z3UUU
To use it, install it following the instruction on my Reddit thread (you have to give proper permission to use it): https://www.reddit.com/r/Honor8/comments/5u2agk/take_a_photo_in_3d/
Touch and hold the shutter button while moving your camera will take a 3D photo if the plugin is activated.
To view the 3D photo, you have to edit in the Huawei stock Gallery app.
Only tested with Chinese and English interface, your language interface might not be available which I don't know.
Enjoy!
Hey, I tried it out, thanks, it's super cool.
Unfortunately the 3D package keeps running i the background even after I've killed the camera app, and I'm not a fan of rogue apps, so I uninstalled it.
It does work very well though. Very cool.

Possibly you can set in the phone manager to shut the app down in sleep mode.
I know this thread is a bit old. I tried this with the latest Honor 8 Android 7 and it worked, but the Gallery doesn't understand how to view them. However, you don't need to do any of this. Just install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fyusion.fyuse
The name of the APK has fyusion in it, so it looks like this is the same thing except it doesn't integrate in with the stock camera.
Works great!

I have the US version running EMUI 5.0 and it downloaded and installed without an issue. I have the app full permissions and it gave me a shortcut within the stock camera menu. I took a sample image and tried to view and edit it in the stock gallery but it did not work the first time. It only showed a static image. I uninstalled and tried again with no luck the second time either. I gave up and moved on to other things for about 30 minutes. When I opened my gallery for another reason, I saw the cube icon on my photo, clicked on it, and it rendered the full 3D image! I tried it again for 3 more images and they all worked immediately! I have no idea what happened, but I'll take the win!
Thank you for finding and sharing this!
.
Hey thanks for the link... Works like a charm !!! Just amazing !!!cheers !!!
Works great! Thank you.
Install the APK once downloaded,
Settings > APP > 3D panorama > Permissions
Check Camera and Storage.
Open Camera
Slide out Mode selection panel > click 3D panorama
Hold shutter button and pan around the object you wish to take picture of, a little ot a lot, depending on how many view points you wish to get, then release the shutter.
If the gallery app does not show the 3D cube icon while viewing the picture, kill the process then reopen.
Easiest way to kill an app is by clicking the Recent app square, then long press the app icon of the app you wish to kill on the app selection panel, that will bring you to it's App Info page, where you can click Force Stop. Cheers.

App request - shortcut to slow motion video for Google Camera gcam

I have a Pixel 2, I want to quickly get to slo-mo video. Seems like there should be a way to configure a shortcut myself, but I have not found it. Though in my research I do see many other people asking for this.
If it can't just be configured with what I have, I would use an app or widget for this. A homescreen button that starts camera, chooses video, goes to "More", and picks slow motion. Can someone make this please? Or advise me how to make it.

Well, that's closer, I guess.
Still need to get into the "More" menu of the video, then into Slow Motion.

Consider using the recommended on XDA, MiXplorer with the appropriate plug-in and forget about the gallery forever.
Personally, I use a tandem of Total Commander (Developer version) and an old version of QuickPic 3.6.2.

Despite my sincerest intentions, I have not been able to change the settings in Canon Print to take control of the display of the Screenshots folder in the Gallery.
Maybe in the app settings you need to delete the Gallery data to refresh its settings
in per app advanced settings, clear defaults
