PRL 25005 has been released.
Was actually out yesterday.
And my brother, the one who has broken 3 Evo 3D's and probably 30+ other phones, because of lost calls + anger issues, said that with this last update it works great.
I updated mine just a few hours ago. I have noticed my signal strength has gone from 2 constant bars to 4 constant bars but I don't live in the same house he does so I don't ever drop calls.
But either way, test it out... let's see how it is.

A little new... I think it came out a few weeks ago. (it is already on my phone because I did a manual update a few weeks back)

It came out a few weeks ago, i justed updated and i am still on 21080. So as far as i can tell this is the most recent
my wife's orig evo gets forced prl updates.. it just happened 2 nights ago while we were laying in bed, she was looking something up, and it just started updating while she was in the middle of her browser..
I got it, it didn't force it on me tho.. I did it manually.
It is 21080 which is weird because I always had the 6xxxxx labeled ones.

21080 is the latest PRL
PRL Interpretation of PRL Version: 21080

No update here. Still on 21080.
Mine did not push - but updated from 21079 to 21080 upon manual update of PRL
whats the evo 3d gonna use the 800smr band for? just roaming or 3g/4g? will those funky circle antennas have to be on the tower now to get 4g?

eh, mine is doing just fine how it is.
I just recently got stationed in Ft. Gordon, GA and my signal is worthless. Most everyone here is using AT&T and tethering off of 4G while I'm lucky to have 1 bar of 3G. Seriously I can't even stream a 5 minute YouTube video on my phone.
Supposedly there's some girl in my barracks that has a Sprint iPhone who gets good service.
I'm starting to wonder if it isn't my ROM. I'm using the ICS meanROM.

But the leak was built for a carbon copy of our phones. It won't be much different when released officially. If they release radios with the update, you'll still be connecting to the same network.
Just don't get your hopes up for a big difference.

That has zero effect on signal strength. It might effect data throughput but not signal strength.
I doubt official firmware will boost performance over stock sprint firmware we have now.

Sometimes companies tell you what you want to hear to silence you. Are they working on towers? Yes. Will it roll out in October for NYC? Probably not.
Just like my ISP telling me I'm having slow speeds because of a "regional Internet problem" with THE internet. Yeah right. -_-

DFW
With the launch of LTE, DFW was on the list of having LTE. Phone never connected to LTE. After serveral phone calls, I was told the same thing, that the networks where being upgraded and scheduled to be completed in December. I see LTE every now and then now, but not long enough to get any use out of it. Speed Test showed it to be slower than 3G when I was able to connect. I got credit for 4 months (AUG -NOV) until LTE is fully up and running.

how do you know that it will be live in 2 weeks?
If Sprint gave you an exact date, and especially from a representative over the phone, they're definitely lying to you.
While I seriously doubt that's the date, I sure hope it is. I am sick of slower than dialup speeds on 3G and constant weak signal.
NYC and several other major cities have been announced to go live within the next several months, which means NYC can get it earlier than scheduled.....Finally able to use phone to the fullest
Has anyone in the NYC area gotten LTE signals yet? Wonder if they will test it before going live.

As the title reads, for those of you who are running the update that was just released, are LTE handoffs working better? Have you noticed any improvement in LTE as a result of the update?
LTE (which is only available in some parts of my city, Vallejo, CA) handoffs after the update seem to be more-or-less the same here.
Thanks for weighing in Jigsaw. I live in NYC and in my neighborhood we have LTE. Trying to see if I should do the update.
I'm in Kansas City, no change for me.
I get great 4G at work, all the time.
For about a month I had good 4G at home. But lately at home, 4G will show up for a minute or so, then go back to 3G. Never sticks anymore. Don't know what changed, but I didn't change anything on my phone and have even flashed back to stock once to see if that helped.
Did you flash the jellybean update?
I'm in Dallas, TX and it seems the radio update has done me no good. I am wondering if the tower upgrades they are doing is the problem.

I'm in the exact same boat. So it's not just my area that's doing this, then. I don't know what to think about that.
I was consistently pulling down 20-30Mbps and anywhere from 6-10Mbps up until about a week and a half ago. Slightly worrying.
3G speeds are fine with me, honestly. Not really any harm there as long as it's consistently available. The faster speeds were definitely appreciated, though. It'd be nice to know what's happening.
The only reason I'm checking xda is to see if these radios have fixed the lte problem. Kinda nice to see it posted right here. There was a thread the other day about cm10 fixing the eHRPD issue that was removed too. Glad I saw it when I did.

Agreed. My hope was to take a poll of whether or not the update made a difference. I find that many people in this community get excited about the potential of thread closings and enjoy being combative. I'm just trying to create a central thread for people to weigh in on the LTE issue, not clutter our forum with poorly categorized threads.

You could always pick up one of these and stick it on the rear cover to be mashed in between contact points. LOL

Stretch the contacts for the antennas under the rear cover. It made a big difference on mine. There is a thread about it somewhere on here, but it's been buried for a long time.
