So i've seen the we have some pretty great Sense 4 roms available but they drink my battery like Redbull so im back to Sense 3.6 with Chingys ICS rom. Now our Rezound is supposedly not "equipped" enough to run Sense 4 efficiently and yet I look at my old regional carrier C-Spire and they have a new HTC phone called the "HTC One V" running ICS Sense 4 and the phone only has a 1GHz proccessor! WTF! Garbage if you ask me...sorry for the rant.

It's all about the delivery man. Starting a thread titled "HTC SUCKS!" and the reason is that they are not giving us sense 4 which they never said we were getting in the first place is why you are getting the response you are getting.

I believe the more specific reason HTC may give is that the Rezound has a dedicated menu soft key, which I guess would be the hardware. Looking at the phones that are receiving Sense 4, I don't see dedicated menu soft keys...A simple guess, correct me if I'm wrong...

You're wrong. The depricated menu button has nothing to do with Sense 4. The function of the buttons can be modified to perform other tasks, or can be ommitted entirely (like on the Galaxy Nexus), but has nothing to do with the ability to support Sense4.
The ONLY reason we aren't going to get Sense 4 is because HTC wants to make it a feature only available on their new phones to help drive new handset sales. A oldschool Incredible can run Sense 4 just fine, it has absolutely nothing to do with hardware and everything to do with selling new phones.
Remember, Sense 4 was supposedly "slimmed down" to make it faster/easier on resources. Any phone that could handle Sense 3.x should run better with Sense 4, in theory..

No NEON. IMO, that is a fail toward Nvidia since they are supposed to be "revolutionary" and all. The atrix didnt have support for a lot of apps for a long time and became annoying as hell. it needed so much optimization as well since Nvidia didnt do much at all lol. The only good thing about it was the games, which our snapdragons are just as good.. Maybe it got better with drivers, im talking quite a few months back. whenever i got my sensation from the atix i was so happy. (i had CM 7 on the atrix no motocrap) so cant blame it on bloat lol. the g2x was a fail because its plauged with so many issues. makes our screen bleed look perfect. people who complain about it should go to that phone xD

Claims that they (HTC, T-Mobile, anyone) don't want to "disrupt" our user experience with 3.0 on the Amaze are BS, IMHO. Problems with Sense 3.0 do NOT need to be continued ... and the enhancements due with Sense 4.0 are, I think, owed us. I bought this phone specifically because an ICS update in 2012 had already been promised.
I want landscape home screens. I want Car Mode restored. I want a better Dock Mode.
If ICS arrives with same ol' Sense overlay, and the problems I've had with three handsets not fixed, I may not even update.

That's even more bull****, industrial strength. The Snapdragon processor in the Amaze is certainly up to to the job. You've probably heard that the AT&T One X will have an S4, which isn't too different from the S3 in the Amaze.

Not necessarily.... we meet the spec requirements, but they said that devices from 2011 would be met with consideration. Not exactly a guarantee. Plus, if we got sense 3.6 in the last update because our phone "couldn't handle" sense 4, why would they then update us to sense 4+? Okay, I'm ending my pessimistic post of the day now.

I hope that we do get JB, but considering the Thunderbolt is still waiting for ICS, I can't say that I am too optimistic.
But HTC phones will sometimes get two upgrades. The incredible did.
It's really up to Verizon to let it through, I would think. So it's more of a maybe, but I'm not so optimistic that it will happen. Hopefully the Rezound will get JB, though. I'd love me some stock Sense 4 for a change.
Not to be a pessimist, but I feel that there is pretty much 0 chance we'll get an official jb update. There weren't enough rezounds sold for HTC to care, and vzw makes it even harder on them. They aren't going to go through the effort. All the focus is on s4 devices . I'm crossing my fingers that any msm8660 device gets a JB update from HTC so we can pull from it.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Why would HTC spend the money, time, and resources to create a JB ROM that runs Sense 3.6? They never promised more than ICS for the Rez as a selling point, so they owe us nothing.
They wouldn't give us a Sense 4 update because they have already stated in print that the Rezound doesn't have the hardware to run it. But that's only half true.
Of course, many of us are running some variation of Sense 4 now on our Rezounds. So while it is technically possible, some concessions had to be made. The Rezound can't do continuous camera shooting very well. Also, still image capture while shooting video is not possible. These features were a huge part of what made Sense 4 so great to HTC (conjecture on my part, but an educated guess based on the advertising), so their official stance on Sense 4 on the Rezound does make sense.
HTC releasing a 3.6 Jelly Bean Rom seems highly unlikely.

a similar phone to the inc4g would really need to get sense5 to port it (and of course we need jellybean of our own first)
and since sense5 no longer uses m10 files (which is what is typically resized on roms now to fit different resolutions) not sure on the sizing issues
and theres no "building from scratch" its taking an existing rom and hacking it up to work on this device

No, he's right. Sense 4+ is the actual version name above 4.1. We've only gotten 4.1 so far. NBD anyway, Cyanogenmod is much better than any Sense ROM.
I believe the misunderstanding is that Sense 4+ is a different version other than what we have but Sense 4.x is actually what we have. If I'm wrong please correct me.

mdmower sense goes from 2.1 to 5.0, respestive order is
2.1 2.5(2.1 on gingerbread) 3.0 3.5(GB) 4.0 4.1(ICS) 4+(jelly bean) 5.0(only HTC one for now) and I still think 4+ will eventually be rolled out but sense 5 will be a hard port since resizing is gonna be harder

Unfortunately, being on Verizon, we are S.O.L. I doubt we'll see 4+ or Sense 5. I doubt we will even see JellyBean before most of us are eligible for upgrades. So for those like me who aren't in to flashing customer ROMS, we probably will not see it.
well, sure it might take some time before a possible JB update from verizon arrives for us. but personally I'd be fine if that's just 4.1.2 (latest 4.1.x JB that brings us "project butter" ) ...and comes with Sense4+. Sense4.1 already slimmed down the visual effects quite a bit and from my piont of view, Sense5 is slimmed down too much, over-simplified and removes that neat lock-ring that HTC Sense is so much well known for *haha* ... i'd really hate to loose it!

Seriously, is there something you want that is not developed such as a specific rom, kernel, recovery, etc?
I think there is plenty of development for the DNA. What could you possibly want? Everything has already been listed. It's leagues ahead of the Droid Razr I used to have. Let's not forget that a new method for S-off is still pretty new. That's the major reason why development was lagging behind and since then it's been booming. You already have several different 4.2.2 AOSP roms to choose from. Then you have the Sense 4+ and 5 roms that are perfect. I personally don't see how development is so bad.

There are no two ROMs that are the same right now in the original android development section.
If you go try each one out you will see that they really are very different.

Is it because they are mostly built from the same base? I can see that being confusing to some, thinking there is no real development going on.. However, the same base != the same rom. There is real development going on for our device and all other devices on these forums.. I for one feel we have plenty to choose from and things are only going to get better and easier down the road... May have an official Sense 5 rom for the devs to play around with if Verizon gets things going.. I love it here!! Am I wrong? :good: :highfive::highfive:

That was sarcasm. In other words most of our roms have a completely different feel. On the GNex there were a lot of dups for sure.
Considering that this is a Verizon exclusive, locked bootloader, low popularity, CDMA phone, I'd say that delopement here is going pretty good. We have plenty of Roms, consisting of stock Sense 4 based, Sense 5 based, and CM/AOSP based. We even have an alpha build of Sense 5 4.2.2! We also have decent kernel development, 2 or 3 for AOSP and several for Sense. I've come to trust @.torrented and @pio_masaki for giving you the best overall user experience and working with the user to fix and repair not only their ROMs but miscellaneous bugs completely unrelated to them. These two have made it a truly great dev community. Because of these two, I am perfectly fine with the stage of development on our devices. If either of you are reading this, I love you guys!
If extensive development is what you want, get off Verizon and buy a Nexus 4 or a Google Edition HTC One/SGS4

I don't think it has "low popularity" lol... Considering up till a month or so ago it was top selling if not near so on Verizon.

Don't get me wrong, its an amazing phone that could easily compete with the SGS4, but it's Verizon exclusive so it never made it to that status. It was a mistake on Verizons and HTCs part to make this beast a carrier exclusive.

well, considering that verizon sells the iphone and the SGS4 (and the SGS3 if you want to talk about 2012), will them having close to 50% and 30% market share, respectively, i dont really see how the DNA could have been anywhere near a top seller. not to mention the note 2 and others. i would probably label this phone "unpopular". most people have never even heard of this phone. i'm glad they are making the "droid" branding exclusive to motorola. the DNA's exclusivity to Verizon killed the awesome potential this phone had. but still, i think we have awesome development. except, i dont understand why we have 5 million aosp roms.
