[Q] slight problem...no boot - HTC EVO 3D

After searching the forums I decided I'd better post my issue here. My set up before the problem was ZREDX ICS rom HBOOT 1.5 Juopunutbear S-OFF (with the custom boot installed). I tried to flash a battery icon mod (I noticed that the ZREDX rom is odex after this problem, I'm an idiot) and after installation it hung at the boot animation (after HTC screen). So i pulled the battery and tried again, another hang. So i booted into 4ext and restored my system. I looked away from my phone for maybe 10 mins and noticed the screen was off. Tried booting it and nothing. Tried Vol down + Power, nothing. Plugged the charger in, nothing, but I noticed that the red LED was flashing (bright flash, not dull). So I swapped my battery out after reading that alot of people had random dead batteries. Still nothing. I am thinking its a recovery bug, but cant figure out what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried leaving the battery out for about 10 minutes?
Have you tried holding both volume buttons + camera button + power?
Have you tried plugging in to your comp and typing adb reboot bootloader?
You said you restored the system, does that mean you just restored the system part of your backup?

I just took the battery out, so I will let you know if leaving it out helps.
Yes, the volumes+camera+power did nothing.
What I meant was I tried to restore using the 4ext backup i had from yesterday.

Ok, if that doesn't work, plug the phone into the computer, with battery in, and type this in the command window
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
, that should get you into hboot, from there you can select recovery, if you don't see an option for recovery, press power and then you should see it.

The battery didn't work. But getting bootloader from ADB did. Thanks alot man. As it turns out the backup that 4ext created was broken. I hit those tanks buttons, and again, Thank you.

[Q]stuck at splash screen and wont go into bootloader

So I just used Bootmanager for the first time. I was having alot of issues so I rebooted and now it sits at the splash screen and it isn't going into the bootloader. Kind of freaked out.
What do I do to fix this?
Thanks.
are you s-on or s-off?
I'm S-off on 1.49
edit: sorry, I meant 1.40
If u can get to recovery, go to install zip and find the boot manager folder, look in there for a phone Rom folder, their will be an update.zip, flash it and reboot.
I can't get to the recovery. It wont even boot to the spash screen unless it's plugged in.
Pull the battery, put it back in, hold vol down and power, what happens?
Well if it's unplugged it wont do anything. But, if it's plugged in, it goes to the splash screen.
Plugged into what, ac power or USB to comp? Try taking out the sd card and then try vol down and power.
Either the usb to computer or AC. It does it for both.
Took out the sd, no change.
I haven't seen a prob like this, without hboot you'd never see the splash screen, it has to be there. Maybe leave the battery out for a few minutes then try holding vol down+power. If you can get to hboot then you're good but with no hboot your not so good.
Hmm, so my red charging led is blinking now while the phone is off, wasn't doing that before, any idea on what that means?
I know that when I drain my battery all the way till it shuts off, it won't charge and I get the blinking red led. I have to put in a spare battery and let the other sit for a few hours befor it'll charge.
What's it do when u just press power? Just goes to the white HTC screen and stays?
Yeah it does that, I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my vol down.
Does it feel like it "clicks"? Take the case off and try to press vol down+power.
edit..Lol, just tried it without the case and its not as easy as I thought.
It does click, I tried it without the case, it was working earlier today though. The last time I had it on, I was rebooting into recovery and the screen went black and just sat there, so I did a battery bull and that is where I am now, Would something have happened if I did a battery pull in that state?
I wouldn't think so... I've had to pull it in situations like that, generally you just don't want to pull the battery during an ruu update or a pg86img update, when its writing to certain partitions. What recovery are you using and what Rom did you try to flash with boot manager?
I'm using TWRP 2.0 and my phones rom was on mean rom. I put ics playground on slot 1 and was having alot of issues getting the phone to wake up and random freezes and crashes. I attempted to boot back to my phones rom but it wasn't doing it. So I attempted to flash Chads AnthaX ICS playground kernel and bootmanager crashed. so I decided I would just boot into recovery and do flash the update zip for bootmanager.
That is everything I did

It just sounds like something weird happened to your recovery partition. If you pull out the battery and put it back in, then plug a usb cable into your computer. Do not turn it on. Run the command "adb reboot bootloader" (from your computer). that should turn on the phone and put it into the bootloader. From there, redownload your custom recovery of choice to your computer. Make sure you have a .img file. Type in "fastboot flash recovery [NAMEOFRECOVERYIMAGE].img". Now run your custom recovery and restore the update.zip for your ROM.
~co~
I'd be very surprised if your phone is broken. Sounds like an easy fix and I wish I could help more. You really can't do anything without getting to the hboot screen. No ruu, no turning s-on to re downgrade, no loading a recovery from fastboot.... I'm trying to think, maybe somebody else will jump in here and teach both of us somethin.
I know that a couple of other ppl had prob with a certain release of playground and twistedumbrella fixed them right up. Maybe you could hit him up. He's way more pro than I am.

My Amaze refuses to start up

My Amaze has been off for about a week or two and now it wont even power on.
If I press and hold the power button I get no indication that it is doing anything. However, if I press the buttons on the bottom of the screen I get a slight vibration indication that it is indeed getting power to it. Tried booting into recovery with no luck.
Any thoughts?
What recovery are you using? I know most recoveries don't support charging while off. I suggest 4EXT but you will need to charge the battery externally first in order to flash it. Good luck.
do you have an external battery charger to charge the battery out of the phone?
did you try to charge the battery ?
Here's an interesting update.
Was able to plug it in USB and using ADB restart into recovery. From recovery I hit restart and the phone booted up like normal.
BUT, about 5-10 seconds in Android it reboots again back to the black screen with the vibrating buttons. Had to run back to work so I wasn't able to play around with it anymore than that.

if your running a custom rom maybe it got corrupted somehow, happens to my phone often due to the fact im trying to find a way around to cloning one rom to another phone, try to reset your phone back to stock by flashing a ruu stock rom or a different rom, flash 4EXT and wipe everything from the phone (including sd card) don't forget to check and realign the partitions and then toggle usb mode and put the rom on the sdcard and flash it , hope that helps

Battery pull, hold volume down(or is it up? I work on too many android phones..) and power button and it should boot into bootloader. From there reboot into recovery. Flash a custom rom of your choice after doing a full wipe. Problem should be solved unless there is a hardware issue, at which point it must have been dropped, battery issue, etc..
What it really seems like is your battery doesn't have enough juice to sustain power, (I get bootloops when my battery goes really low and I try turning it on). Just let it charge a bit and if the battery isn't holding its charge, then time for a new battery

[Q] ONE Max stuck on "HTC ONE" screen...

I was doing a backup with TWRP and everything seemed to go just fine. Then after a reboot i unlocked the phone to notice that it was leaving the lock-screen icons on the bottom of the page. I still had access to my notification bar and could clear notifications. Figuring that there had just been a mistake in the boot process, I held the power button to restart the phone. Well it never brought up my power menu to restart. Also instead of making me wait ten seconds until it flashed its lights and restarted, it just restarted in like 3 seconds. Now my phone is stuck on the HTC ONE screen and will not respond to anything including hold the power button.
My phone is rooted an s-off. I know that I have not posted at all on here, but I have been rooting and know how at least the basics on adb shell. I just have never had a phone lock up to this point. If I can at least get to recovery, I should have 2 or 3 backups to run. I just don't want to have to wait for the phone battery to die just to hope I can get to recovery.

Are you saying volume up + power button does not restart your phone nor does any help? Check if your phone is detected in computer and if so you can issue and adb reboot command
also since there is no removable battery HTC added a reboot function press home vol down and power that should do the trick
The phone is not detected by a computer, nor will it charge. Vol down and power is not cutting it off. Right now I am waiting for the battery to die so I can hopefully boot into recovery and do a restore.
Vol up + Power was the key. I was thinking it was volume down. Thanks for all your help

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
:victory::victory::victory:
Just wanted to point out I ran into this issue also (Stuck on white HTC boot screen) after wiping my ROM and Vol UP + Power did the trick for me also (and then Vol Down + Power to get back to the bootloader).
i need help, guys
so attempting to install a new rom, i must have dont something wrong because now restarting the phone will leave me on the htc logo loop and restart. i still have access to hboot and fastboot. but when attempting to load into twrp, it shows the team win logo for half a second and then restarts the phone. then i installed cwm and it does boot into it but whatever option i pick, install zip, wipe data, ANYTHING, restarts the phone.
i have no idea what to do. i tried installing a rom using adb sideload but it stops at around 80%, ive tried installing different versions of twrp and cwm and same thing. i think it is bricked. im using the verizon htc one max. the only option i see left is the ruu toolkit but ive only been able to find the sprint version and then it says that bootloader needs to be locked and i have not idea how to do that from hboot, fastboot, or cwm
attempting to install superuser also fails
if there's anyone here that can help, please, any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks =
Sounds like you're flashing the wrong TWRP.

May I suggest following these instructions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51753483&postcount=129
If you're able to complete those instructions outlined in that post, this should set you up with the latest HBOOT, Radio and TWRP (Recovery) for the Verizon HTC One.
Make sure you read the post fully before you start, especially this part:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (Be sure it finishes saying 'successful', not 'please flush again immediately'. If it says the flush again, rerun the command)
If you succeed in getting that done, see if TWRP still causes the phone to reboot and get back to us.

CWM Recovery hanged while erasing... bootloop problem.

Hello, today I wanted to restore my previous CWM backup. So i started with cleaning partitions before restoring. I've begun with system and my phone hang. I waited about 30 minutes, then pulled out battery with hope I'll try again via CWM. The thing is - I can't boot it into recovery: Volume Up/Volume Down+Power leads to normal start up (LG screen and nothing further). So i connected it to PC and wanted to make it right via ADB. Unfortunely it seems I had USB Debugging turned off, and ADB isn't recognizing my phone now... What should I do now?
I have rooted D620r with unlocked bootloader.

You must never delete partitions before restoring a backup especially system!!
CWM will do that for you...
Boot your device in factory reset mode (which simply boots CWM) by doing the following key combination: (while your device is off - pull and plug the battery to be sure) press and hold Vol - and power, when you see the LG logo, release the power button and press it again. Hold them until you see the facory reset mode, then simply enter YES. It will reboot to CWM.

Weird, I was always doing this when I had HTC Desire S
Used this countless times and always worked!
Ok, i've done as You said, something like CWM loading screen appeared, and then went back to LG Screen. LG Screen standing still and nothing happens
The only good thing is that I can access ADB for 20 seconds when CWM is "loading", but no action can be executed - every command ends up with "waiting for device".
Thanks for Your reply, though! :highfive:
EDIT:
I solved my problem by using "Emergency software restore" mode featured in "LG User Support Tool". I got clean, unrooted system now and I need to modify it again but...

Lock bootloader
Hello everyone.
I was just going to try out CM11, but got one question. Is it possible to lock the bootloader and revert everything to stock? There were some talks about new stock ROMs coming out and they might not work after a custom ROM.

Jiayu G4 (God I hate to title it like this, but yes) stuck in bootloop

How the problem occurred
So a year or two ago I bought a Jiayu G4A/T/Whatever they're calling it and safely got it here. I've used the stock ROM for a bit but I wanted to get rid of the bloatware that was still on it, so I eventually ended up with a properly rooted phone with a ROM from Jiayu.es (Everything worked, have ClockworkMod as recovery, accessible via Mobileuncle Tools), which was essentially a stock Kitkat rom made to work for the phone. Now I got sick of the ROM and recently saw the new EMUI version on Huawei's P8 Lite, so I figured I'd look around for a tailored ROM running that, and ended up at "jiayu-emui-3-0-stable" from Needrom.
What I did
1. I downloaded a ROM from Needrom with identifier "jiayu-emui-3-0-stable" (I can't post external links)
2. Backed up my important files following a guide from androidcentral titled "[Guide] How to Backup and Restore Apps and Data when installing new ROMs" that I can't link, and did a full backup using CWM
3. Placed the ZIP on my internal SD card, went into recovery, wiped data/cache (not dalvik, since it wasn't described in the instructions, I think this might be a probable cause) and installed the new ROM from ZIP
4. Rebooted the phone and now it's stuck in the boot loop I mentioned.
What the problem is
Bootloops aren't that much of a problem usually, except this one is... I can't get into recovery mode. From there on it'd be cake, since I made the right preparations, but I can't get into it. While connected to my PC it keeps powering on, showing a splash screen from Jiayu.es briefly (which shouldn't be present anymore) and powering off after 10 seconds, only to come back to the splash screen.
What I've tried
I've unplugged it, removed the battery, waited to get a full power cycle and tried to hold my buttons in these combinations: [power button + volume up], [power button + volume down] - but neither work. It just keeps going with the boot loop. I can succesfully power it down, and when I plug it in from there it shows the low battery image. At the moment of seeing that I thought I could connect to it using ADB / Fastboot, but no luck there either. It keeps saying no devices found, and with fastboot it keeps on <waiting for device>.
My questions
What exactly can I do if there is no way for me to get into recovery mode? Are there any alternatives? How can I get my device to be recognized by ADB? Is that even possible? Why is this bootloop any different from others?

Thank you for the reply!
Yes, it does. I took the battery out and let it lay disassembled for a night, after which I cleaned it a little and re-inserted the battery. With the case back on, nothing happened, so the power button wasn't stuck for sure. When I powered it back on with the power button (no USB attached) it showed the emblem for ~8 seconds and powered off. It then buzzes to show it's powered on again and up comes the splash screen again. Could it be that the ROM was just a rebooting falsehood? Why would it disallow me getting into recovery mode? I really hope there is something that can still force the device into recovery mode / interact with it somehow while in this state.
Oh, I also tried to see if the volume down button was broken but all the contacts seem intact, plus, they worked an hour before I started switching roms.
