I agree with the other 2 posters. It sounds like you've got beta installed.

Second hand phone that someone has flashed a beta test rom on .

Sounds more like your music if you want boom boom bangy bang stuff SGS2 has little headroom for exaggerated bass sounds .You could search for the sound fixes .

What baseband version...also what kernel and build?
Can be found @ Menu-> Settings -> About phone
Why not take a screenshot of this screen and post it?
(hold home button, and press power)

As android 4.03 has not yet been released by Samsung what else can it be but the leaked beta buggy test rom .
jje
Ok since no one here believe samsung released it i guess its not official ! or we suppose its not !! i created this thread to find solution to my problem guys !
so please all advices are welcome !!
should I flash ROM or what ?
if yes how to and what is the best one ! thks
There is no such thing as the "best rom". You have your phone setup differently to everyone else, you use your phone differently to everyone else and your phone came out of the factory slightly differently to everyone else's.
A rom that runs well for me might not run well for you.
I suggest you go the development sections of the forum & read the first few pages and the the last 10-20 pages of the particular threads devoted to different roms. That way you will get an idea of the features/pluses/minuses of each rom, and also see other users' experiences with that rom.
Then you can test different roms for yourself to find one that works best for you.
Edit to add - Re: the Android 4.0.3 thing...Cool story bro, but...you know the rest

Beta ics and not the latest either.
Also must have been something wrong with your old/original headphones.

The latest official release, is some version of Gingerbread. Again, ICS is not yet officially released.
Here, you'll be able to find all official and unofficial ROMs.
Which one is most current depends on your location.
Hello everyone, I've posted a thread like this before, but this one's a little different. I have a major issue. It may not be major to others, but its a big deal for me. Let me explain my situation. I feel imprisoned. I want the freedom to run whatever rom that i want on my phone. But the only rom i can run perfectly is Shostock2. It's an amazing rom, with a few tweaks and mods here and there, its the best rom ive ever used. But as an Android user and flashaholic, I want to try out different roms as my daily driver. But EVERY SINGLE rom I've tried has had one infuriating problem, the headphone volume is way too loud on the lowest level. This problem, however, has taught me how to do many things. I've learned how to decompile apks and jars, deodex and odex apks and jars, and edit smali. By learning all this ive tried to fix the problem by myself. I've tried to increase the volume steps from 15 to 30, but i had issues with that since the volume mutes at 16. I've tried running AOSP roms with Fluxxi kernel and used xxTweaker to decrease the volume level, that works for AOSP but i want to run a Samsung rom. So here is where i ask for help, does anyone know enough about the Android system to tell me which file deals with volume control? Or does anyone have a solution to this problem at all? I've tried looking for files that might deal with volume control but the only thing i've found is "AudioService.smali". Which is what i edited to get more than 15 volume steps. I really need some help guys, my poor ears can't put up with loud music. Right now I'm exploring everything in ShoStock2 to find out why the volume control is perfect in that rom and not in any other rom.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Out of curiosity. Why didn't U just PM Shoman and ask him how to edit this? He doesn't bite that I'm aware of.

Interesting.... I don't do any changes that would effect the headphone volume....That I'm aware of anyway. LOL
Well this sucks, maybe it's just my phone or something. Guess im stuck with Shostock2, which isnt a bad thing since its the best rom ever. I guess i'll try to fix the problem on my own. Thanks guys
EDIT: Btw if i do happen to find a fix, which is unlikely but possible, you guys want me to post the fix? Maybe here or make another thread? Not saying i will since finding the fix will be difficult, if there even is a fix.
Just pm shoman and he'll add it to the op I'm sure.

So this is with corded head phones? Volume while on the phone? Music? Which roms have you tried that it is an issue?

Sorry for the late reply. School has started now. But to answer your questions, this problem is with corded headphones, and the volume is loud while listening to music, watching videos, or basically any sound that is playing through the headphones. This problem occurs with all the new roms that ive tried except for Shostock2. This is the longest time ive ever had to stay with one rom. This problem didn't happen on a few roms such as Phone-Bricker and the older AOKP roms.
There are several mods to get the sense 4.0 multitasking on stock ICS. I was wondering if there's anyway to reverse this mod and instead get the stock looking multitask on Sense 4.0 and 4.1. While the sense look may be slightly more aesthetically pleasing to some, it's far less useful in actual use

I'm on CMX, I was considering switching to meanROM earlier, just until the audio bugs were worked out. JB has spoiled me though, after like an hour I have up and came back. I still think this would be a useful mod for people though

the audio bugs should be worked out soon. your reffering to the headset issue right? thankfully i dont use it alot like that. im more concerned with a louder speakerphone. but look at how much progress cm10 has made in such a short time. im sticking by it. lol once those ans video camera is fixed its perfect....at least for me.

Yeah I went back to CMX within the hour. Sense just sucked in general. I'm talking about the low audio on speaker and headset and lack of being able to use equalizers. I also have issues when playing a 3D game or watching a YouTube video, they both like to randomly freeze and pause ALL THE TIME
so i've been trying to get google now on ICS, and there's a TON of mods out there that supposedly work for ICS...ive flashed a couple and they don't seem to be working, so i've been reverting back to regular google search...
if anyone else attempts this and gets it working, or knows of a mod that would work on our phone, i would appreciate it
for now I will keep looking into the thousands of pages of xda threads about this lol
well I guess no one else cares or thinks google now is cool but if anyone wants it I flashed this zip and it seems to work just fine

I got it from this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
everything seems to be working perfectly for me, except I don't think it's the latest version of google now

Google Now is probably one of the singular reasons I want Jellybean. I loved it when I tried it on a ROM on my original Incredible. I'll be trying that out soon.

Can someone try to set up the sports card I tried but with no success
Same here, I will flash and let you know how it goes, I'm running viper with the older boot_image by the way in case it matters.
Edit: I'll try setting up the sports card too.

When you go into setting to set up the cards and click sports it shows edit team but its greyed out and not able to be clicked on
yea sorry, like I said, this isn't the newest version...apparently all the developers stopped developing this for ICS, and you need to newest version to edit the teams I think
My teams are there though since I use this on my Nexus 7 and it's all synced to my google account lol

bah...I've actually never flashed a rom before on any phone. I usually like stock for the most part...there's just usually a few things I want to tweak with mods or apps
the 3-button re-map mod alone has made this phone so much better lol
but it seems I can't find a way to wake w/ volume on this
Is there a way to fix the flipped camera (for some apps) on the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (YP-G1) while still being able to use the stock rom?
Uhh... anyone?
Seriously? Nobody has a fix for this?

I remembered that in the old CM7 days, using the US camera libs caused the camera to go flipped. However when using the Intl camera libs, the camera was in the right orientation. Perhaps you could try that to see if it'll work?
Btw sorry for taking so long to reply, I haven't seen that post.
Where would I obtain these libraries, and how would I install them?

Sorry that no one really addressed your question. The galaxy player dev community is kinda fading away since, well, the device is getting older and less practical, so there are less users. Anyways, see here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848595
Also, if you're still on gingerbread, you may just want to flash the REDD rom. Check it out. That personally gave me the best gingerbread experience. Of course, cm9 and later in my opinion are all better.
Oh my god... this worked.... THIS ACTUALLY WORKED! THANK YOU!!
