Im using flapjaxx stock ics rom and for some reason i cannot do a screen capture? I had no problems on GB all i had to do was push power and home. Ive tried power + home, power + volume buttons, power + menu nothing works. Anyone else having any luck?
The karate chop method works fine for me. Take the blade of your hand and swipe left to right across the screen.
Others have had success swiping it across their forehead. Seriously.

Or use the s-pen method. Hold the button down on the pen and then touch the screen and continue for about 2 seconds until capture is successful.
I always use the s-pen to take a screen shot. I have YET to get the karate chop method down.

Just did swipe method or karate chop and that works wonders but home and power key still work on mine and my 2 friends notes.

Chop, home+power, s-pen all work on mine using flappjaxxx rom

Me, too. I've tested all the 3 ways to capture. And all the methods worked well. Oh, I had to hold power+home for a little bit longer time to process tho. I normally use s-pen to capture because I wub doodling my screenshots... -_-;;

Anyone else having this issue: my home key needs to be pressed a number of times or firmly before it reacts. I'm affraid the button is starting to go.

Mine started doing it a while back and it turned out to be my screen protector. I was using Stealth Guard protectors at the time.

Hmm, Im not using a screen protector.
Are those buttons along the bottom actually buttons, or are they just touch sensititve?
See if it tends to work better if you press it as soon as the button back lights go off.... I had to return my first vibrant because of this hardware issue.

Yes, it works better when the backlight goes off! Damn it, I don't want to have to return this phone. Its easy to get into download mode...
Could it have anything to do with the rom I'm running? (Obsidian v4) its supposed to support a kernel with backlight notification...

Press the home really hard just once and see if its better I did that now it's perfect

okay so last night i was just messing around with the app drawer when i noticed i could drag the sliding bars across the bottom around even when my finger was basically off the screen , basically touch the slide bar then slowly drag ur finger down until just above the htc symbol (where menu back ect ) then slide normally left to right , now this works with all things like this such as file browsers internet ect. this is crazy did they build a working touch screen section just for the softkeys, i believe this could open up door in development such as gestures (swiping from home to search to go to previous app or something ) possibilities are endless when you have an extra cm of touchsreen space lol anyways i just wanted to get it out there and let ppl and devs know that theres a whole area we are not rly using to the full potential and to see the types of stuff we could create from it
ill attach a photo of the extra area mine goes a lil past the htc symbol
Just confirmed this. In the app drawer, hold & press "All apps" to rearrange, then (while still pressing) slide your finger down/ across the home/menu function keys. The touch screen still responds in this area. pretty cool.
Doesn't work that well.

Interesting...I wonder if its just there for the capacitive buttons but since you started with your finger on the visual part of the display it continues to work with the GUI instead of the buttons.

Wondering if this was because they thought the Rezound could've been released with ICS, but it wasn't ready.

I will not take credit for finding this because I'm sure its already been mentioned earlier than i have searched but.....
When holding the stylus, if you press the grey button on the side of it down by the tip and then press and hold the tip on your screen while pressing the grey button, it takes a screen shot of your display. Lets you draw or write on the image and send/share/save/discard...whatever you want. I found this by accident today.
Pretty neat. I wonder what else this thing does that I don't about. Amaaaazing device....wow.

The screen shot feature with the S-Pen is very well known.
Also, if you hold the button and swipe with the S-Pen you are able to use home, menu and back keys.
Button + Swipe Up = Menu
Button + Swipe Down = Home
Button + Swipe Left = Back
Also holding your phone, using the side of your hand, swipe from right to left takes a screenshot of current display

Lol, no it only works sometimes for me. I wouldnt worry about that. It could be my case or screen protector or both. But besides the mentioned ways you can press the home button and power button at the same time for a screenshot.

Put your hand flat as if you are going to do a karate chop (as the above poster stated) and wipe it across the screen from right to left or left to right (just like a scanner scanning a piece of paper). This will trigger the screen capture.
Mark.

Two things. Need to make sure the swipe to screenshot shortcut is enabled in Settings > Motion. If this is ticked then it works if the front facing camera has enough light. So, in the same way that you need decent ambient light for the phone to check your eyes are open and to use face unlock, it needs the same for screenshots to work.

What is the shortcut to screenshot?? i treid home + pwr, vol up + pwr, vol down + pwr...anybody knows?
Swipe your hand from right to left across the screen. Your hand must be faced sideways like you are slapping someone, where the pinky finger and side of palm is what is swiping on the screen.
P. S. There is a Q&A section for questions such as this.
