Motorola MT870 to Atrix - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've got my hands on a Motorola MT870 (the China Mobile one) and I've read that it's similar to the Motorola Atrix (which I also have and flashed to the NottachTrix ROM) - would it be possible to flash the Atrix ROM on the MT870, since there's a lack of support for the MT870?

I dont think its gonna work...

If im correct the original custom kernels where made with some mt 870 source. Theoricly it could be possible. But you will run into a lot of issues. Ram is limited to 512mb on the 870. That's before even tackling sound and propietory bits.

[Q] Other ROMS on Dell Streak

This is just an wild question, but..
Is there possibilities to get say, the Desire HD leaked ROM to work on the streak?
They have ported it to the Desire, which has very similar specs to the streak..
or is it just a long shot?
I think there might be some driver issues.

Dual boot?

Was wonder If it's possible to dual boot Roms on the fascinate?
sent from fascinate using cm7
Dual booting has been done, first on the Eris, by punk.Kaos himself. Not sure how possible it is on other devices.
Sent from a Limited Edition phone from a Premium app..
Its possible to run ubuntu on galaxy s phones, I saw the development thread in either the epic 4g forum or the galaxy s forum. Thought it was interesting but never tried it

Atrix porting to Droid X2

Over the course of Sunday (9/4/2011) I learned that it is possible to almost flawlessly port Atrix 4G ROM's (excluding CM7!) to Droid X2. They are fully functional minus some cosmetic changes that need to be made for CDMA/Verizon. Over the course of the next week I will be porting some ROM's to Droid X2. If you want to learn more about it then join us on IRC irc.freenode.net #droidx2
This is the best news I've ever heard. Yes...
Just sprung a massive geek B

Your a busy one, Naven! Your hacks here, plus porting these ROMS over, AND your supporting your EC09 kernel over at the Fascinate?! I thank you for your hard work and contributing efforts.

Would these roms be based on 2.3.4? If so, would it giver the better support for the dual core processor?

This is what I'd like to know and just if anyone can say what good ROM's are out for it?
omg if you can port over the alien rom id be in heaven
Basically, go have a look at the Atrix 4G Development Forum. That will give you some kind of an idea. Anything based on Blur 2.3.3 and up and Nvidia Tegra 2 250 AP20H chips seems to be game. The Atrix works well because it is practically the same phone as the Droid X2.

Does that mean no custom roms? Also i hate to say/ ask, why no cm7?
Regardless YOUR SIR ARE EPIC, THANKYOU!!!!!!!
Does that Mean the bootloader could also be ported, in its fully unlocked glory?
I'll Be Looking Forward To What You Bring Over. Everyday Things Keep Getting Better For The DX2 Owners. I Still Can't Believe Dev's Were Gonna Just Pass This Phone By. There's WAY To Much Potential And Thanks To You Naven, You're Making It Happen. Great Way To Start The Week. Thanks Alot!

how would this work? i thought that everything had to be signed for it to run?
Would that mean it's possible to unlock the boot loader too?
Checking out the Atrix threads I came across this...
[MOD] Webtop Via HDMI Without a Dock *NEW* Added support for 4.5.91 (Untested) *NEW*
Would that be possible to bake into an X2 ROM? I'm not quite sure if the webtop function on the atrix is software or hardware based.
You are the man! I can't wait.

No. The bootloader is signed. Even the international [Atrix] users couldn't use the ATT/USA bootloader, one had to be made specifically for them.
Mod :delete please

[Q] Atrix 4G Gingerbread stability

Hi there
I am planning to buy Atrix 4G. I previously had Milestone which I upgraded to 2.2 and I was not satisfied with the performance. Random boots, hang (DSI error) these always occurred on that. I then decided not go for any Motorola device. But now I am again thinking to buy Motorola. So tell if there is such problem with aAtrix after upgrading to Gingerbread. How much you are satisfied with your device on daily usage. I want it as my primary (work & home) device. So please tell about its software reliability. Thanks
The ATRIX 4g is one of the most stable cells out there still to date and on GB it is still stable and extremely fast I highly recommend this cell I haven't had any kind of problems I'm using a international ATRIX 4g and I get service in places where non of my friends do even the ones using the same provider as me
If you found this helpful plz hit thanks

Thanks for reply
I know the connectivity is best in Motorola even my Fire lock GPS faster than my bros S in room as well as in open space. What I am scared is with random boots and hang which I faced in previously owned Milestone. I am getting little money from my brother as I don't have much to buy 1G ram phone. So I want a stable investment as I am travelling soon so I need a good partner .
Your reply was plasent to my eyes. My bro want me to get Galaxy R as its very stable he thinks and I feel. But I like the Motorola GB UI, it's very nicely built.
Did you had hang sometimes running apps or as such? How often are the hang/random boots?
I have never had a random boot even when testing my own apps that were no where close to being done and had it set to hard reboot(random reboot) if things went really wrong witch help show how stable it is so no problems with random reboots and I haven't once had any hangs on apps I suggest this cell over the galaxy R my friend has one and they are a good cell but even my friend is envoys of my ATRIX and to add the cherry my ATRIX scores higher in gaming and productivity then his galaxy R

As a previous milestone owner, I can tell you that the Atrix will make it feel like an old model T.
However, because it has eFuses, you can hard brick it with a careless flash. More easily than any smartphone I've ever had. Other than that, it's a pleasure to use.

No problem, I'll be stick to stock rom
Im pretty sure its 128mb decompressed and I fuighered you where wanting to run stock ROM the Motorola team has really pulled their socks up since the milestone and has been making some rock solid devices (dunno about tablet haven't used one...yet) I suggest getting a international ATRIX (vs AT&T) they are unlocked SIM and don't have as much bloat ware on stock ROM unless you use AT&T then you might want their bloat ware as you MIGHT use some of it to check your account but this is all downloadable for the international in the market besides if you really want you can root your device and force uninstall the bloat ware ie twitter or pvr remote. As you sead b4 tho you are traveling and that alone should be a large step twords the international ATRIX

I still have my milestone and I Just use it as an alarm clock now. It can't face my atrix, both on custom and stock rom.
The atrix is very reliable, you won't regret your investment.

Milestone was solid built. I felt proud carrying it in my hand. I never put it in my pocket when I use to go outside.

Milestone had great build quality but was crippled by insufficient RAM. At a time when other premium handsets were getting 512MB+, moto cut corners and put in 256 - d'oh!
Also the keyboard was atrocious, how could they get the KB so right on the budget dext/cliq but mess it up on their premium phone.

I just got this phone (ATT) 75$ with a new line. I Hope to room and use custom roms, but seems like can be a bad thing if dont know what your doing, i rooted and mess around with old phone HTC Inspire 4G, i did fine on that. I am scared after reading some of the forum posts, but i hate all the bloat ware that comes on stock phones. maybe some one be interested in walking me through it via teamviewer, and talking. I would give a few dollars for your time. you can add me to google, [email protected]
If all you want to do is remOve bloatware, then just root and use titanium backup to uninstall system apps. That's safe and easy.
If you want custom ROMs, then you need to unlock the bootloader, that's where you need to thread very carefully.
