[Q] WT19i CM 7 + Rage Kernel, help? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Phone info:
WT19i || rooted || unlocked bootloader || cwm
android 2.3.4
stock rom
x kernel
build 4.0.2.A.0.58
downloaded latest nightly CM from here: http://www.get.cm/?device=coconut&type=nightly
confused which kernel to download from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24553704&postcount=75
I'm a bit confused. Can you please help me?
Please correct me if this is wrong...
Steps I'm about to take:
Flash rage kernel -> then flash cm7. (or do i need to reflash stock kernel first?)
Questions:
- Can I flash kernel and rom from CWM?
- Will I lose my root/cwm when I do the steps?
- If I accidentally flash a kernel that is incompatible with the rom what would happen?
- Any list of kernels that works well with CM7?
Thanks for helpers.

Help. I'm having a hard time installing rage kernel 2.9 for FXP, after I flash it. It won't boot and it won't enter recovery mode. Because of that, I can't install the cm7.2 rom. For now I went back to X kernel. x______X Help please?
Or do I install the rom first before the kernel? Help pleaseee...
Edit: Nvm, fixed it. Found the solution on the original Rage kernel thread
- "If you used KRsH Kernel or X kernel before you need to restore /system/lib/modules/ with stock files. Or just simply flash this: signed-mango_stock_modules.zip (2.3.4) or this ics_wifi_modules-signed.zip (4.0.4) via recovery."

- Kernel can only be installed via fastboot, read forum or my tutorial for more info. For better battery life, use Rage Kernel 2.7 from that topic. ROM needs to be installed via Recovery.
- Root and CWM are included in the kernel already, no need to worry about that.
- Bootloop.
- That Rage Kernel and the original kernel provided with the ROM(in .zip file).

These modules are only related to WiFi.
First install the kernel, else you cannot install the ROM in Recovery.
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked, then install the kernel via fastboot, then enter Recovery(already in kernel, no need to install) and install the ROM.

[Q] has anyone had trouble flashing Dooms V03 X series kernel on Wolfs V009 Rom

I have followed Doomlords directions on How to flash/test custom Kernels. So i flashed Wolfs Newest V009 and then attempted to flash Dooms V03 Kernel via FreeexperiaRecovery but nothing changes, the kernel version is still stock. I then flashed the Kernel enabler patch and that soft bricked my phone last night. i got it working again and I am wanting to try again but i feel there is a small detail that i am missing. anyone have any ideas? Thankshttp://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Probably you forgot to flash the right chargemon to boot custom kernel as default..you can find it on doom's thread called custom kernels dev..after that you need bootloader bypass files and then boot.img and wifi.ko..

[Q] How to Change/Switch Custom Kernel?

Hi there, i am currently using Wolfbreak's TW009 with BB.54 and zKernel, but i want to switch to Goro's 3.60 kernel (or 3.62) can i just flash Goro's kernel over zkernel or do i need to go back to Stock kernel first?, in that case is there a way to go back to stock kernel without resetting the whole thing? o.o
EDIT: i just flashed the new custom kernel over the old custom kernel, it worked

Make sure ya get all files needed before doing anything Ya need to (1) unlock bootloader, then (2)flash required Kernel for ICS. Then (3)get to the recovery mode provided along with the Kernel.Next, (4)flash the ROM and there ya go, (5)Reboot and Enjoy. Hope Helps

To be precise, If ya in locked bootloader status, full wipe and clear cache partition (note these action will getya System Data wiped along) will get ya back to stock kernel everytime. If ya in unlocked bootloader status, just get ya Stock Kernel for Unlocked Bootloader X10 to be flashed via flashtool, then ya will get it worked, your ROM won't be affected. Just RAM and governors and little tweak added within the kernel you flashed. Hope helps

Question about installing new rom

Hello all. I decided to install Hybrom on my Xperia mini pro (sk17i) but i'm little confused at the moment and don't know what to do. I have installed CM 7.2.0 rom with FreeXperia kernel. If i want to install the Hybrom, i just need to flash stock firmware via flashtool, install Clockwork once again, then install some custom kernel like Rage and then install the rom? Or do something else? And do i need to relock the bootloader to flash stock firmware?
Install stock firmware, install kernel, install ROM. That's all. No relock needed. Custom kernel already includes Recovery so it is not needed.

And when i flash firmware, wipe is automatically done so i don't need to do it manually?

Flashing stock firmware - if you choose it in Flashtool, then yes.
Custom - no, you have to do it yourself before installing the ROM.

Thank you, I really appreciate your answer, but I have one last question. Does the firmware already include rom and kernel, or rom only? And do I have to install newer baseband to it to make the custom rom work?

Stock firmwares in .ftf file already include ROM and kernel both.
Most custom ROMs have their own custom kernel that you need to install yourself. Sometimes it is written in the topic as separate download link, sometimes it is included inside the .zip file, then you need to extract it and flash via fastboot. Check my tutorial, if you need help with it.
Baseband will depend on the custom ROM.

[Q] Xperia Mini Pro with CM9: wifi, azerty, overclocking

Hi!
I just flashed CM9 and a custom kernel on my Xperia Mini Pro (after some noob trouble), but I'm still having some problems.
I already did some searching but really can't find anything that works.
1. I can't turn on wifi, don't know if that's because of cm9 of the kernel
2. My hardware keyboard is now querty, and for some reason the option to change the mapping of the keys in cm9 doesn't work..
3. I can't change anything in the processor configuration
Help would much be appreciated!
Greetings,
Gi11i4m
You have flashed which kernel??

Since I'm new I can't post a link.. But the name of the file is boot_mango_rc3_final.img

You have to flash the cm9 kernel. The boot.img that's included in the zip for cm9. You can't use the Karmarush kernel.
I think I already tried that.. Worked with cm7 but not with 9. How should I flash the kernel now? Can I just flash it or should I return to stock rom first? Or backup my data, do a factory reset and flash the both again?
Also, in the update guide on the cm wiki, it says to use this command:
fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
But I read a lot about people just using the command without "-i 0xfce"
so fastboot flash boot boot.img
what's the difference?
It's the same command. Just open the CM9 zip and extract boot.img, then flash it using fastboot.
CM9 kernel has some problem, it is not succesfully booting up.
"FXP 127" kernel is recommended to use.....
Yeah, it appers that way. I tried a few kernels but the original cm9 kernel doesn't boot (black screen only).
When flashing fxp127, do I have to change the cm9 ROM as well? Or does this have nothing to do with it?
And, is there a site where you can download ONLY the kernels? Cause I found the free xperia project host from Google, but I can only find the changelog of the kernels, not the download mirrors.. I'm currently downloading the whole fxp128 with cm9 since I can't find fxp kernels separately
Okay, I flashed the FXP128 CM9 ROM and Kernel (think FXP127 is for x10?), and this works flawlessly! Should've done that from the start

Root,Unlock BL,Rom,Kernel,Recovery All at once :D

I don't know if I'm in the right place or not, but please help me
I'm at stock rom (latest Italian ics)
and I want to flash custom rom and kernal with CWM, offcorse with root and unlock bootloader
all at once
I guess I can make it easy like the kernel with CWM and root with rom,,, something like that :-/
please if it possible give me only steps and links with each step
and with links to overclocked kernel and good custom ics rom
Forgive me, I know they are all prediscussed before, but in separate ways which is too hard for me :-S
1) unlock your bootloader
2)flash a kernel with CWM
3) flash a rom from CWM
