Hello everyone, this is my first post here so I want to thank everyone in advance for the help. I've never needed to post here because my questions were always answered by someone else's post. But this time I'm in a whole different boat.
Long story short. Found a Droid razr on Craigslist. Owner mentioned it would power up but stay locked on boot. He sold it cheap to me. I figured I could easily do a hard reset and I would be good. Nope. Not the case.
I attempted a hard reset, razrutility, rdslite and nothing has worked. When flashed using rsdlite, it runs its course and then notifies the phone to reboot and low and behold, the phone still gets stuck on boot where it says "Droid". I need help!!!!

Anyone?
You might want to try the two different versions of DroidRAZRUtility. IIRC, 1.6 is for GB bootloaders and 1.7 is for ICS leak bootloaders. Perhaps your phone was upgraded to a leak (unsuccessfully), is now stuck halfway through the ICS update, and needs to be wiped before you can do the real update and get it running.
I found the guide in my signature very useful.
I have a little bit different story with the same problem. I was testing XT912 boards and LCD/Digitizer assemblies. This board was the one I knew to be working. I tested a 3 or 4 LCD/Dig. assemblies without any problem. I then rebuilt the phone entirely, and powered it on. It starts to go through the power up cycle but stops on "Droid". I did a recovery wipe and factory reset and it still does the same thing. My PC acknowledges the phone is connected, but nothing else can be found connected on the PC; Moto DM, Motocast, not even my com ports. I have a feeling I inadvertingly shorted the board, but this is strange...any ideas?

I just tried to flash my phone with the preroot GB flash and it installed and when I rebooted my phone my touch screen will not work. so I tried to flash it back with the sbf and now im at the activation screen but the touch screen wont work. Any advice of what I can do?
try booting into stock system recovery and doing a data format and then try booting.
Someone On Rootzwiki Is Also Having This Problem Can't Get The Droid To Register Touch.
i believe most if not all of us occasionally lose touch responsivness until the screen is turned off and back on which only takes 2 seconds. But this problem is different of course...possibly related...

Thanks mike.
Ive been dealing with this same issue for atleast 5 hours now and im tired of sbf'ing............idk what to do.......
I booted into stock recovery and did a data reset and its still doesn't work. If I did a SBF will verizon be able to tell it was rooted? I don't want charged for a new phone I might just soak this one in some water.

Is you phone charging? I had the same problem, but when I unplugged from charger all worked well (until I plugged it back in). I unplugged, went into recovery, factory reset, then did SBF and presto changeo, My phone responded to my touch
Also...
I have sent many phones back to Verizon, still rooted, and have NEVER been charged. When I call I do not tell them it was rooted. With SBF, as long as you cleared data/Factory reset first, there will be no indication it was rooted ever.
my phone is charging I unplugged it and im going to do a factory reset with out it plugged in and see what happens
Thread moved to proper forum since this is not android development.
still nothing
Hardware problem, get a replacement

i still can't get mine to do anything either.......................and i thought i had good phone because i have NEVER had 1 single problem out of it like all these other people on these forums......
I have a replacement on its way. So tomorrow ill be up and running I think ill just wait for GB to come from verizon this time.
So yesterday I was in a call with low battery when it shut off. Normally not a problem, just plug it into the wall for a while. Well when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't even boot up. It was stuck at the red M logo. The LED showed amber colored as well. I left it plugged in and the light remained amber until 90% battery, where it turned green.
I tried to turn it on and its been stuck on the red M logo. Its been stuck for more than 12 hours now.
I CAN access fastboot, android recovery, etc. I already tried wiping the cache and even did a factory reset. Still wont work.
What can I possibly do? I luckily have a backup phone, but I've had my photon for less than a month, no warranty, and I'm a novice Android user. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Click on the software and tools link and use rsd lite to reflash the stock os onto the phone. If that doesn't work I would take it to the sprint store.
I assume you tried pulling the battery?
I'm downloading SBF now. Hopefully it works, because I live in Canada and we don't have Sprint stores.
And YES, I tried pulling the battery. Multiple times. With every combination (eg, plug in, turn on, then insert battery; put in battery, turn on, then plug in, etc)
the sbf should work but may i ask how you managed to brick your photon? when i just got mine i did everything wrong and i never got even a soft brick so i'm interested what i didn't mess up haha
Quick question: I should be downloading the most recent? Will it make a difference?
And damn, did I actually brick it?? I'm pretty new to this thing, this is my first Android and I've had it for less than a month...
And nothing should have triggered it. I added another line in build (ro.media.setting.1080p or something) and I added another setting in /system/etc/mediaprofiles.xml. I was trying to add 1080p to the camera (unsuccessfully). I didn't remove anything, and even after a reboot it was fine.
It wasn't until the battery died, where it stopped booting up. Just my luck :/
You should probably choose one of the newer ones, just becasue of bug fixes, etc. If you happen to know what version you were running before then I'd choose that. I cant stress enough, make sure the one you download is for the Photon and NOT Electrify! And technically yeah that is a brick lol but its extremely hard to legit brick beyond repair a photon due to the fact that we have RSD Lite and SBF files to bring it back.
Strangely, I found a thread depicting the same problem that I had, although with the electrify. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=14813
Anyways, the problem is fixed, by reflashing the SBF using RSD Lite, everything is back to normal! Well, almost, just have to restore my backup
Thanks so much for your help guys, I wouldn't have been able to fix it without you all!
can you fix a bricked phone??
My Photon has done the same thing! I rooted her and did the Bootstrap Recovery thing. Everything was kosher until I tried to load that stupid Beats Audio. Something happened between me flashing it and the reboot where it locks the phone. I tried to do the Android recovery screen, I wiped, I did about everything I could find. No bueno.
I followed this forum and clicked the software and tools link as instructed. I tried with RSD 5.6, and tried several iterations of SBF's located here and here. I was using SBF - 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_MR-3-CM.
It lets me go into boot mode, and when I try to flash the SBF it appears to go through, but it always fails at the end. Which, the posts state it will do, but my phone will not reboot afterwords. After trying everything I could for a couple days, I decided to just take it to a Sprint store. Mind you I've had this under 30 days, but longer than 14 so they stated it would have to be replaced. They tried to flash, but said they were getting stuck too.
I know that a replacement is pretty much the answer, but just wanted to check one more time to see if anyone had any other ideas, or could point me to other forums maybe? Appears I've done what few have been able to accomplish...brick this joker.
So, my buddies RAZR will not come on for anything!! The phone has no indication that it's charging on the wall charger and the white led - indicating that it's not plugged into a powerful enough source - comes on when plugged into usb. I've looked through about a hundred different threads and site's and tried all the combinations of buttons and tried charging on several different charger (his factory moto, my s3, my tf700, my gf's kindle) but cant get it to come on for anything!! Most of the threads are for for when you have a bricked phone stuck in fasboot on low battery.
Anyway, he's trying to send it back to VZW today and they are going to charge him if it's been modified......which it has. The other day I rooted, installed safestrap and installed AOKP.....
I really want to just get it into RSD mode and flash the stock rom!! I have my girlfriends Kindle Fire 8.9HD cable that came with it and I believe it's a fastboot cable.....might be wrong but I thought you could used fastboot to push the stock rom even while the phone's dead. Anyone wanna correct me on that or help me on how to get the computer to recognize the phone while its dead?!?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

What are the events leading up to this? After you rooted and ROM'd it, did it ever work? Had you checked to make sure the ROM is compatible with your friends RAZR? There is AOKP for the ICS kernel and one for the JB kernel.
Actually, I have to take that back....I only rooted and installed safestrap recovery. Was thinking of another friends RAZR that I messed with - which is running fine on the official aokp and ICS kernel.
He did use pimp my rom to use dual boot animations and said the phone was acting funny. Told him to revert back and I would put a rom on there with more support for theming and what not this week for him.
He said it just died over the weekend, he plugged it up overnight in the wall and no charge light would come on and the phone wouldn't come on in the morning! Getting the white led when plugged into the computer also...

I think your buddy did/installed something he shouldn't have. Your description sounds like a corrupted bootloader, which is odd since it is locked but, no matter. If you can't communicate with it in anyway, he doesn't have a choice, it's got to go back, he's gonna get charged.
Hey everybody, longtime lurker. Going to make this short and sweet for anybody willing to give their insight. I have a 100% stock, never rooted (never even tinkered with) DNA that I bought from Verizon. I've had it for under a year. Today at work I felt it vibrating constantly in my pocket, after a while I took it out to see what the heck was going on and it was just bootlooping at the HTC screen. It is currently stuck like this until it drains the battery, then just starts up again once I plug it in. I've tried searching but it appears most issues are with people who have rooted their phones and are trying to flash back to stock because of issues. Any help would be appreciated. Going to try and call Verizon tomorrow. Also, I tried to boot to recovery, it worked once. And seems to not work anymore for some odd reason.
Only thing I can tell you is try to factory reset and if that does not help try to ruu it. You can find the ruu file if you just search the forum... You will probably lose all of your data though.

Defective, get replacement.
Try, while boot looping, to plug in and save any files you can...
Thanks for the reply's. After letting it charge basically for almost 15 hours, I woke up this morning to see the green charging light which gave me a little bit of hope. I went to turn it on but it just went straight back to bootlooping Calling Verizon soon, hopefully they aren't a pain in the ass to deal with...
I apologize already if this has already been posted before, I couldn't see one that had my issues so I'm making this thread.
OK, so here is my problem and everything that I can think of that I've done to my phone.
Today I tried to restart my phone as it was getting a bit sluggish. When I did it started booting fine then the animation sound stopped while the droid eye was being put together. Now my phone will not pass the droid eye during the boot phase. I press the power and both volume buttons and after a few seconds it starts itself back up again. I do the power button and down volume buttons and it still does the same thing. I've even performed the factory reset twice and it still won't help.... And no matter what I do it keeps booting itself back up on its own.
What I've done to my phone:
I am rooted but never got the boot loader unlocked since i waited too long and the last update wouldn't allow the boot loader unlock methods anymore. I have used titanium backup app to delete some system apps for example the Verizon football one, slacker radio, and any of those useless apps that I never use. I haven't deleted anything lately and have restarted my phone many times since. I have been delaying the recent update hitting no or not now, whatever it says. I thought that I said no today on the system update as well. Even then my phone was working before I restarted it.
PLEASE I hope that there is something that I can do to fix my phone because I'm forced to use my LG Vortex again and my upgrade isn't for another year..... I don't want to buy a new one since this phone has been great and I'm almost certain that if there was a way to reinstal or flash the droid razr m OS that that would fix my issues.
Thanks in advance for your input and please know that I'm a novice with this kind of thing so you will have to explain the process to me. If i have instructions I can definitely follow them.
THANKS!
SORRY
I just noticed that for some reason I got out of the Droid Razr M forum. You are free to respond if you like but I have posted this thread in the right form now.
Sorry again
