I rooted my Nook Tablet in early January from the XDA site and following Albert Wertz video from that time frame--worked like a dream---HOWEVER, the system froze up the other day and i inadvertently set the darn thing back to it's original state---the problem i am having is when i go to the XDA site to root it (where the three links are), the usb debugging will not open up---it is the one for the tgps launcher---I am new to the forums and this site will not let me post the link that goes with it
I have tried over and over and on the nook and two other computers--I have tried to search it on google and such and everthing takes me back to the same XDA site
I know there is now an SD card available but I really like the OLD way---i just feel comfortable with it
I sent an e-mail to XDA regarding what i thought was a bad link but they said it was not their area and to look for help in a forum---perhaps they misunderstood me or they were correct
Can ANYONE help me re-root my Nook Tablet using this method with a good link---thanks so much
i googled it...
how about this link
http://mirror10.downloadandroidrom.com/file/NookTablet/rooting/tgps_launcher.apk
Will try it
thank you...the site looks familiar but i am going to try it now...will let you know how it goes...thanks again
A million thanks
a million thanks just is not enough---i downloaded the link on my tablet and it worked without a hitch!!!!!---you are the best!!!---thanks again

can anybody make a video with all the steps to install a rom on the dell streak with the fastboot and everything some of us just dont get it
If I can follow the very clear instructions on this forum on how to install a custom rom and not have a problem with it... it can't be that hard.
So if you find that you're still unsure on how to do it and need a video, maybe its something you shouldn't be attempting in the first place....
Theres a video for every other phone why cant there be one for the streak

Can you post the link so I kno where to go to do it

Firstly you need to root your streak (i used superoneclick), then you will need to put your streak into fastboot mode to install clockworkmod recovery or streakmod
Once thats done you will need to check what baseband you're on and what version of android you're on (i was on bb 319 and stock Dell 2.2) which means that i could flash DJ Steve's 1.8.1 custom rom straight over mine and it worked straight away. Now i have read that certain basebands have caused problems.
The you need to go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003525 and then follow instructions there and that should be about it.
There are plenty of threads on here explaining in fine detail every step that you need to do, some people have gone to a lot of trouble writing tutorials ... all you need to do is have a quick search.
All the info is there you just need to look for it.....
Trust me it isn't that hard cos if I can do it without any trouble, I'm sure most people can.
i can asure you that when english is not your native language, it's not that easy.
i did it whit my old htc artemis, but i'm still holding it off with my streak. It's working great now with 2.2 and i'm afraid to brick it. The only thing i've done is rooting it for the blinking leds for sms/mms notification. It was a must for me.

I not doubting that it can be very difficult when english isn't your native language, but judging by the grammar and spelling I'm guessing that English is their native language or they are very competent, in which case it shouldn't be that hard.
But the point I'm trying to make is that it seems to be that the poster seems too lazy to search and find the answers on how to do what they want, I mean most people on here will spend the time and read through countless threads to find out exactly what they need to know. I know that the people who write the tutorials put a lot of time and effort into making them easy to follow ... hey if I can do it....
So if I go back to my earlier comment if you can't follow the comprehensive tutorials on here, maybe its something you shouldn't be attempting anyway... just my opinion...

Actually, it can be a real pain in the rump. When I did the recovery install of 322 I spent three nights trying to get it to work. I had issues with rooting, had to use the 1.5.5 version of superoneclick and run it while my phone was restarting to get it to work.
Then when trying to restore from the recovery files I got stuck at the MD5 checksum thing. That was a real pain. It turned out that the tool you use to overwrite/rewrite the checksum was missing from my streak.
I installed a new version of the tool (who's name I'm forgetting now) to make it work.
So yes it can be very difficult. I have programing knowledge but the commands are Linux based and may actually be Japanese.
It'd be awesome if there were a single guide/how to video to follow.
Search before you submit
You ask for a single guide and or video, than use the following link to find it: www.google.com, there are multiple very good single guides how to go through the steps to install a custom ROM. In fact there is a certain web page by DJ_Steve that actually has a link in it that guides through installing his custom ROM, there is also a video, but hey if you want to have your cake and eat too, I guess asking for it to be re-created just for you isn’t that selfish.......
Am almost sure that if you search within XDA for DJ_Steve and click on the link in his signature block might even take you to his web page, but asking for someone to create a video for you isn't that selfish.....

Lol, and I used google extensively in my search for instructions to do a recovery install on my streak. I pulled some parts from DJ Steve's many postings and website, others from android forums in their Dell Streak sections, and still others from just android and linux forums.
It took all of that and raw determination for me to get my streak to 2.2.2.
Don't take offense to someone asking a question.
If you know there is a link for it share it with the person. Maybe that would take you 2 minutes but without the person knowing the correct keywords they may spend hours searching.
I just feel like a video could avoid alot of bricked phones iphone people always making videos whether its easy r hard. All im saying is a video would help alot of us if I knew how to do it I would have been made a video

This is my point... Most people will spend the time and search for the info they need, it's really not that hard on here and google. You did it..... And you didn't expect anyone else to do all the work for you.
I know I spent hours looking at various threads and it was only then was I brave enough to attempt to put a custom rom on my streak, and it was the best decision I ever made.
@deedomond
Just go to http://streakdroid.com and then go to guides, there is a comprehensive guide on every step of the process on there. Or if you don't want to flash a custom rom, or maybe update to a newer stock rom, there is plenty of guides on here telling you how to do it... All you have to do is spend a little time, they are not that hard to find.
I rooted the only problem im having is installing clockwordmod

You need to get the streak into fastboot. Then follow this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326&highlight=Fastboot
Come on, lets not knock on the guy. he has a good point. A video tutorial would be nice. I also find it alot easier to watch a step by step video rather then reading something. I totally agree with him.

Same here! I'm with you a 100% on this! I never had a problem rooting phones especially HTC phones. When I bought the streak I realized things were not so easy and found it to be more difficult to work with the device. to many commands and flashing of software to remember lol.
Hey guys need some nub help.
Im always confused on here, too much leet speak about coding and stuff of that sort.
Anyways, i have my Nook tablet rooted from when i bought it (thanks to all of you) as of Dec 20th. Anyways i spent the last few months in Afghanistan, now i have come back and my nook updated to 1.4.2. Now i spent a few hours reading the forums and cant find what i need to fix it, everything seems so complex. So can someone take my little hand and guide me to what i need and what i need to do.
Thanks for the help..
Semper Fi
Take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488035
It makes use of an SD card image to root your tablet. Or another option you have is try roll back to the 1.4.0 firmware and reroot like you did previously.
You can use the NT Hidden Settings app to blpck the OTA iupdates from happening next time. You can find it in Android Market / Google Play. You can also find a link in the XDA thread in the Nook Tablet forum.
The NT Hidden Settings app does much more too...

Hi!
I am overseas and my girl sent me a gtablet for me since I needed something portable and light..She got it off ebay for cheap...now I know why lol.. Anyway I am a total noob on doing a rom install. I have way too little time and a spotty internet access where I am so I need just to ask the forum gurus here my question and hope that someone will be kind enough to answer and ppoint me in right direction Thanks in advance
I want a rom that will give me access to google play, allow flash, and netflix and hulu to run(when I am in northern Africa the internet availibilty should be better lol so I can use these features.. Those are my main concerns for the rom. Can someone point me to a solid rom that will do what I mentioned before? And could someone please tell me what in addition to the rom I need to download and install to make work? I am using tapui 1.2-5699 build frf91 if that helps..
Again I apologize for being a noon and if I had constant signal I would look thru the mounds of pages here to find what i am looking for..sadly I do not have the access here to do reliably and we have to share what time we get here..so if someone here could take pity and ofer me a good solid rom choice that does what I ask of it and what ever other files I need to download(maybe even a ezy noob guide to walk me thru it) I would be forever in this sites debt.. It is lonely in this part of Africa and she thought this would be helpful..anyway..thanks for your help mates!
For what you are describing, I recommend Frankentab. It is fast, stable, and does everything you listed well. I also recommend that you visit viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com . It has easy to follow instructions and files you need to make the switch. Good luck.

Which 1.2 version is it. They just did the 1.2.5699? upgrade via Viewsonic. It has some issues with rom installation, however if you still have the original 1.2 root version then Frankentab works great. Of course if your using the 1.1 build then you can take a look at HC 3.3. It has been discontinued but will fire up your gtablet just great. Super east to install with CWM and there are multiple video's on installation.
Hey guys,
I was just contacted by TrueXDAnoob about a link to download SalsaSlde.
I checked my extremely old Minus.com account and to my surprise, everything was still there.
I have a rather large collection of ROMS for the Espresso, as well as my own MODS, there and since I don't use that account anymore, I won't be deleting them.
So for anyone who may need something for their Slide in the future, here are the links to help!
ROMS

STOCK FROYO MODS

GB MODS

If any devs come across it and want their work removed, please pm me and I will do so.

whoaaa didn't expect to see you here...hahaha you own this phone too?
Lol! Yup indeed I do! I was just lurking about back in the old days when this was new!
It's mostly a really good alarm clock now, but it still gets some use! I'm amazed at how well it still runs! If only my galaxy had the glass of the slide!

Hey everyone, I'm not sure why, but apparently all download links in the folders I posted no longer work. I can't even download if I'm logged in! I am trying to figure it out though. In anticipation of minus doing this purposely, please let me know if there is anything specific you would like a copy of. If I can regain access, ill upload it to a more reliable source.
Hopefully, it'll just be a server issue and everything will start working again as expected. But if it is not, please understand I do not intend to get anything more than the most important items and any requests. There is just too much and my available space elsewhere is going to be limited.
I apologize for this happening, but hopefully ill be able to salvage some of it. I will update with any new information here.

I have plenty of extra space on dev host I am not using, I can help if needed. Or have you signed up for the new copy.com site? If not, here is my referral link for 5 gigs more for both of us.

Thanks! Ill check that out when I get on my computer. Had not heard of it before.
I've emailed minus asking them about the situation. They claim to answer every email so hopefully ill know something soon.

Just a quick update.
Even though they advertise in large print on their contact page "We Answer Each and Every email", I have not heard anything back from minus.com.
I sent tbem another just a few minutes ago so I haven't given up. But it is not looking good and I doubt ill get anything back.
When I signed hp, I chose them because they promised to NEVER delete a file. Well apparently this is one of several things they promised but didnt deliver on.
In protest, I have to recommend that no one ever use this service! They even removed their faq page and the forum where people could get support.
Im really sorry to anyone present and future who may have needed this stuff. I will give it a little more time for them to answer before asking a mod to close this thread though.

I have been reading a lot post here and while I had just ordered a new tablet I decided to give rooting my Nook tablet a try. I wish I could remember everyone's name here to thank for thier post and help. But I ended up using so many different posts as I stumbled my way to success. So can I please just thank everyone who helps here and the Forum for being here? I did achieve success...which for myself was a great feeling. So I sent back the new tablet and kept the Nook.
One question when I use Goo mgr and up date to a new nightly I always have to sign back in and replace all my apps onto the Home screen . Is this normal? I have to go through all the updates of the different apps etc. Do you have to update every cm nightly or just once in awhile? Thanks again for everyone here.
I don't use Goo so I don't know about that part but you certainly do not have to update all the time! If you're happy with the way things are running, just leave it alone. Maybe read change logs to see if there's anything there that sparks your interest.
