Samsung galaxy s3 problem - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have an AOKP rom running on my s3, a
few weeks ago my mate disabled the options and back button light on the right and left hand side of the home button and now cannot remember how to reactivate this. Now the keys do not light up and I don't like it.
Please help!

Dont know about settings in AOKP ROM but on regular sammy ROM it's in settings/display/touch keylight duration

Don't know if if was done via the AOKP rom or normal settings but I can't the key light option in display settings

I don't run AOKP anymore, I'm on CM9 but I'm pretty sure on AOKP it is in settings and in the settings menu there is a device specific menu. In CM9 it is "Advanced" under "Device" in settings. It should be something along those lines on AOKP as well.

Found it, cheers mate!

Side power button question

Hey everyone, just a quick question, new to android, but if I hold the side power button shouldn't there be a option to disable data network mode instead of going through the settings to turn it off?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Those options are added to custom ROMs. Samsung only has the flight mode option (and power, and silent). If you install a custom ROM on your phone you will have a lot of options. I am not sure if that screen can be changed without a custom ROM.

Not on stock - some ROMs add this as a feature.
Infuse has this feature stock, but sgs2 doesn't,
I use switch 3g on off in the market, it's just a shortcut to the setting to turn off packet data.

Alright thanks so much guys. I will definitely take a look at that app.

The removal is an AT&T "enhancement." The international version has all four options.

[Q] Where is the setting to turn off the lights for hardware buttons?

I am running Cyanogenmod 7.1, I know where is a setting that allows you to turn off the lights for hardware/capacitive buttons, but I can't find it now. Does anyone know where it's at?

I don't seem to have this "Device Settings" under Settings.
I literally spent 2 hours trying to find the setting to turn off the backlight for those 4 buttons. I am positive it exists because I disable it once.
Settings > Display > Touch Key light duration
Oops just saw your on a CM7, nvm...may be in a different area.

[Q] Is there a mod where i can get the recent app menu

I have a rooted galaxy s3 with custom rom but im just wandering the older version of android has that recent app menu in the notification menu which i liked, is there a way i can get it back ?
What do you mean?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Isn't that a HTC Sense thing?
I just hold the home button and use the task switcher..
This is an HTC thing. An old HTC thing.

I agree
Just like the galaxy nexus the on screen navigation keys.... Back home and recent apps button was great because on the galaxy S3 having to switch recent apps by pressing home button will wear and tear button and takes 2 seconds whereas on screen recent apps button was perfect
I know AOKP rom has this on screen keys mod but any add on that someone is developing or has developed for s3 with touchwiz framework would be winderful.... This new TW is beginning to grow on me

i think goluacher also has a recent and running apps in the menu.
Check out "Task Switcher" by gdroid on play store (com.gdroid.fastfive).
Personally I didn't like it, as the curtain doesn't close automatically. But it seems to work fine.
Maybe a developer can bake it back in once some roms start flowing. But nothing I've seen. Let us know!

Good job posting what the guy on top of you posted. How helpful.
There is a new app on the market called Multitask Shortcut, it's not free (only £0.50 though) and I have not tried it but it does seem to do what you are after (check out the video he has on the app page)...

[Q] Sliding shortcut bar

Hello,
My GF's Galaxy S3 got updated to Android 4.1 (version 4.1.2 to be exact) about two weeks ago. After the update there was a small vertical bar with app shortcuts that you could pull from the left side of the screen. A few days ago it disappeared and she wants it back. I've browsed through the phone settings and can't find anything related to it. Also, no luck on searching the web for it either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Looks amazing. Can't wait to try.
After install you get a text to speech force close but after setup it goes and this ROM is working amazing. Thank you so much, been waiting for a ROM like this.

Of course, when I get home my internet service provider is having maintenance and they've disconnected the internet for the whole suburb lol
Installed and running quite nicely. Best of all worlds? Thanks very much for the effort to provide this!
Battery life is the problem. I've lost 60% in 3 hours with no usage at all. Screen off.

I'm hoping that when the ROM has settled in so does the battery performance. Will test over the next couple of days

Anyone got any feedback on sound. Incall sound as well as speaker sound. Using Rootbox I had very low sound. Only the NEAK kernel and mods fixed it. I just wanted to know if here the sound is also low. Thanks.

Having difficulty with expanding notification and stays bar. Also have issue with turning on Accessibility settings for one of my app (only succeed after a few reboots). It seems that I always encounter this issue with RB embedded roms.

Thank you for a really nice ROM! Very good options to configure the ROM to whatever one wants it to look and behave.
I haven't been going through the settings so much today, but here's some minor issues I found:
Settings/Themes: It is no difference between choosing MIUI or MIUI Dark. I suppose MIUI should have "normal" MIUI white background, but instead it is dark grey.
MIUI launcher settings: When setting a ringtone the popup says "Ringtong set successfully", it should be "Ringtone"
I will enjoy this smooth ROM a lot, and go through all the settings and really customize it Thank you!
