whats the best for you? what do you suggest?
Lightflow on Google Play is good. Lots of options for configuring leds on most communication apps.

+1 for Lightflow. Some users report a huge battery drain with this app installed but I haven't experienced that.
LightFlow is good but sometimes it doesn't work and it causes a bug with accessibility making the phone speak out when you open a folder.
LightManager
I'm using LightManager.
It's still in early development but it is simple to use and bug free.
It does what is expected and is very light weighted...

It's not quite bug free - there's an issue with Gmail where it can start flashing again some time after a notification has been dismissed, but after that's sorted it will be perfect.
Thanks. I will check them out.
i'll test the light flow
+1 for Light Flow, its really easy to setup... the difficult part is remembering which colour is for what
Lightflow is awesome but it has bug. To go around it just disable talkback and go into settings-apps-all and disable google text-to-speech and samsung tts.

what do you guys use, whats more "battery friendly?"
I've used NoLED since last august, never had any battery issues. Love the idea that I can look at my phone and see gmail, gtalk, or gosms app icon on the screen if I have new messages.

I prefer bln because noled does eat more battery life because its still turning the screen on, hence: why you have to hit the home key instead of the power key to read your message. Bln is led light only. Downside is you don't know what type of message it is with bln.

Try them both and see which one you like. Neither uses much battery at all. I like no led so I can tell what messages it is.
No LED could cause screen burn in though.

I use BLN. Once you have BLN you can just go into each app that supports led notification and modify the settings there and instead of using the default bln setting you set in the bln app your phone will use those settings instead. So you can change the BLN frequency to help you distinguish between the different types of messages.

How? It doesn't stay in one place. I have never heard of any screen burn in by noled from anyone.
It could really only cause burn in if you don't have it set to move the icons every few seconds.
I prefer BLN just because its brighter, and the unlocking procedure doesn't change.
If he figures out individual light blinks, it will be even better.
I've used both, and haven't seen any excessive battery drain on either. However, both come with apps that let you configure the settings, so YMMV.
So I am wondering if there is a way to turn off the LED lights within Tasker? I have a night profile where it turns down all the sounds, vibrations, etc etc but noticed last night that the LED light was flashing for some emails I had come in. I had a look in the tasker settings but I couldn't see any that would disable the LED?
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
OK, I shall keep up this conversation with myself (the voices in my head make me feel like it's a normal conversation with others though ). I found the setting in tasker to turn off the led - it's in the audio section and it's called 'notification pulse'. In my night profile I have now set that to 'off' but it made no difference and any emails during the night had the led flashing
You can use Light Flow to disable notifications at a certain time, plus you can do a lot of customisation.
You need root.

I reckon, you don't need root w light flow, but other than that bortak is absolutely right. Light flow does all that and perfectly.
Yes, you are totally right. I have installed and uninstalled lightflow a few times already. While it does do that for me, it's just not quite working right. I kept on having a notification light flashing after dismissing or viewing a notification. It just wouldn't stop flashing. That was bugging me more than the extra features I got out of the app, so I've removed it again.

this is because you havemt set the "clear notification style" parameter. set it to 'screen on'. so that once you wake up the screen al notifications are cleared and u wont see that blink again. Normally it is set to 'app entered', where you have to go to the app (or the phone and click on the missed call etc). set it to what I told to all your notifications.
Thanks. I'll take another look at that. I thought I had it set that way but wouldn't be surprised to see I was wrong. I do think that I'd tried entering the app as well when it wouldn't clear, and still wouldn't.
Hi!
Im searching nearly same. Im looking for a solution to switch off and switch on this notofication Led like i want by a tasker or by a widget 1 click.
I dont really like the app light flow.
Tasker is audio>notification pulse
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks rootSU. I had found that, but it doesn't seem to be working on the S3. I found the tasker google group and some similar problems exist there. One is having the same problem as me, and another I think is trying to turn the led on but it's not working; all S3's. Maybe tasker isn't optomised for this on the s3 yet?
I've found lightflow to be hit or miss. Sometimes the led keeps flashing even when the notification is dismissed (have checked my settings, even tried different ones), and the day before flashing for sms's stopped working. Even a reboot didn't fix it. So, I lived without the led's on my S1 and I'll do the same here. I had them on last night and kept waking to a notification of some kind and found that too annoying.
Thanks for the help and suggestions guys. Appreciate it.
Just a widget 1 click to switch would be perfect for me.

I think it works for me but not entirely. That ecpksind why the missus woke me up the other night to complain about the led. Hope it's fixed soon.
Once fixed Fred, you can create a widget in tasker

Don't suppose anyone's come up with any more ideas about this? I have emailed the tasker developers and I don't think they were 100% sure, but didn't think the notification pulse setting was for disabling the led's completely. I still try playing with lightflow every now and then, but the little bugs I have (mostly sms notification led not dismissing without reboot or entering lf app (only thing that works is having manual dismissal but it's a pain)) are still present for me. I also tried it with handcent but was getting no led notifications.
Hey guys,
I figured out a fix for the Verizon Galaxy S3. I know there are differences between the way the international version and US versions handle the notification light, but it might at least give you guys a starting point. You do need root.

Josh
need help jellyverse rom v0.3 i get notified even after turning off the led in the settings it blinks blue not big of a deal but does seem to drain battery after a few hours
Has anyone found a way to do this yet? Notification Pulse doesn't work, at least on the SGS3. I have tried LightFlow in the past, I found it buggy and uninstalled it.
I've been using light manager to manager my led for a while now. Doesn't have the talkback issues I had with lightflow, and free.

Hey guys,
if anyone is still looking for a fix.
I built a little plugin specifically for the galaxy s 3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2117824
I'm looking to customize my notifications and the LED light to my personal likings
I have used LightFlow (trial) on the GS3 but main problems are
I set the vibration pattern to medium and it is always small
The sound goes off before the vibration and LED notification light
Half of the time it doesnt even work at all
I am rooted and using CM10.
Also if anyone can give me a link of the full LightFlow to give it a go
Any help would be highly appreciated
Thanks in advance!
I left CM10 a while ago so can't help in that regard. If you want the full light flow use that thing called google, you know........the search engine

I didn't put this thread in q and a since it's not really asking for basic help.
Moving along, i like the way the led pulses on phone power off with the animated Samsung logo. Is there some way to get the led to pulse like that for notifications? I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more ways to customize the appearance of it.
Thanks in advance!

Well you really shouldn't have put it here because you sure aren't developing anything. You should read the forum rules so you know where to post.
To Your question there are apps in the play store that let you do that.

Not sure what I did but I have Lightflow working with talkback off. I'll mention that Lightflow works best when you have root which I have. My setup does just what I want. Also note that the Note 2 has a setting that enables flashing the LED for incoming messages, voice mail and one other thing I can't recall. The drawback of this stock capability is that the flashing goes off when the screen comes on. I only want the light off when I go to the app causing the LED notification which Lightflow allows me to setup.
Light manager works beautifully andbits free...no bugs

If rooted, the light will stay on when the screen is on using light flow - go into settings and enable root mode and s3 root mode. Unless I misunderstood what you said, in which case, my bad.
Also, once it disables air view to turn on light flow, just go back in and turn on airview

Another vote for Light Manager. It just works.
+1

Anyway +1 For Light Manager

Its probably like the galaxy nexus where it can do pretty much any mix of the colors. Its an rgb led I believe.
Turned it on in accessibility and everything works perfectly
Am I doing this correctly? I have "USA and Canada S3 mode" and "Run in foreground" enabled as well as light flow lite enabled in Accessibility to get this app to work properly on my S4. Are any of these actions redundant or will cause more battery drain? Thanks.
Edit: I disabled "USA and Canada S3 mode" and "Run in foreground" to get the colors right.
i still get some talkback issues when viewing gallery, hope to see this resolved soon

Are you rooted? The usa/Canada mode is inky for non-root. Also, running in foreground is not needed. (not for me at least)
I have lightflow running flawless and I'm absolutely loving how it works with dashclock

Negative. I think my lightflow is working correctly.
I just uninstalled Lightflow. It constantly did nothing for certain notifications, I'm getting texts and having no LED at all even though I have it set to blink orange. It works when I test in the app, it works for a little while, and then I just get nothing.
