Default notification sound changing to an alarm - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I am using one of the Samsung default notification tones. However, after a period of time, the notification tone will change to one of stock alarm tones (regardless if I have rebooted the phone or not). If I change the back to the default tone, it will change again to the same alarm tone shortly after. I have read about issues with the notification tone changing when using a custom tone on the SD card, but I am using one of the stock sounds.
I'm on Bean's custom ROM on Verizon. Not sure if this is relevant, but I am also using the CM9 mms.apk, but I was having this issue before I did that (the stock mms.apk doesn't work on the ROM).

Won't ring after ED01

My girlfriend just got the ED01 update and now her phone won't ring or notify. The phone will still ring for those contacts that she has individual ringtones set for, but that's all. Any ideas? I told her to set ringtones for the important contacts for now.
Have you tried to reset the default ringtones?
Yeah, when you click on Voice call ringtone, settings FC's. Although I hadn't tried it for the Notification ringtone until just now and it worked. The ringtone was set to silent. So halfway there!

[Q] Where is the default ringtone / notification sound?

The default sound is nowhere to be found. I have looked in System/Media and it is not there. The tone I am talking about is when no tone is selected in the selection area. The AT&T tone is selected by default for the ringtones, but nothing is selected for the notification tone. The notification still has a default sound and that's the one I am trying to find. Any help would be great.
I am little confused on what your asking which version of Android and firmware your running. Can you see the ring tone where you go to change it in settings? And if your looking for where in system the file it self is what are you using to go though your files with. Personally I like root explorer but you have to have root I will look to see where tones are.
AT&T ATRIX - VERSION 2.3.4 ROOTED BL UNLOCKED
I am on a rooted Motorola Atrix with Gingerblur ROM installed (2.2.2). The ringtone I am interested in was on the stock Atrix as well. This tone can be found by going to Messaging, Menu->Settings->Notification settings->Select ringtone->Default ringtone. But this ringtone is not where I would expect. My goal is to make this Default ringtone my Phone ringtone instead of my Messaging Notification ringtone. I looked with Astro in /system/media/audio/notifications... actually, I looked in all the folders in audio (alarms, notifications, ringtones, ui) and this tone is not there. Is there somewhere else to look with Astro? Thanks for the help!

You can change your general notification alert tone, and also specifically your messaging alert tone. Perhaps you changed your messaging alert tone specifically, then changed your general one. Check in the settings of your messaging app for an alert tone there.

MMS Notification issue CM 10.2 ROM

Somehow I lost the ability to choose a MMS sound independent of the notification sound. Not sure what happen but all of a sudden after 2 weeks on the ROM it just changed out of nowhere. Weird thing is on the options menu it'll pick and play a sound, after the option closes out it'll show my chosen ringtone instead of the sound I picked, but actually play the default notification sound? The same thing goes for trying to chose a custom vibrate pattern for texts.
