Hey guys, is there a way to remove the rogers logo on bootanimation, i'm rooted ics and i tried the bootanimation.zip( ex.Nexus7...etc) with root explorer, changed permission, but it's not working, thanks
You'll need a custom kernel that supports bootanimation.zip
Hotwire's oc r2 should do you up nicely.

Ok, but it's not working, maybe i still a Rom for the Rogers GNote to be able to make it work..
Samsung is using .qmg files for bootanimation, Samsung themes are created using the Samsung Theme Designer application. When the designer exports a theme, QMG files (originally .PNG files) are compiled and packaged into an SMT file along with an XML file that specifies where the QMG files are displayed in the theme.
This is a pretty old thread, has there been any progress on it?
I'm running ICS 4.04 with the R2 H0tw1r3 kernel and it doesn't seem to support boot animations.
I've tried a couple fixes like flashing bootanimation4u.zip, placing boot animation files in the appropriate directories and changing permissions etc.
The best I've been able to get is no boot animation, even that took a few tries.

Is it possible to run a custom bootscreen on the Samsung Vibrant via stock ROM? I am operating off a stock rom (UVKA7) and the link below mentioned compatibility with running a custom boot animation. Problem is, I am having a hard time getting this to work.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...boot-animation-on-your-rooted-android-device/
The page mentions copying over bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ folder but I find no file in this folder, in fact, it appears the annoying boot screen is a bunch of images.
posible, yes
you would need to download a handpicked bootanim.zip. use super make sure to use R/W(from settings at main) and drop in in the system/media folder.
But this is only achievable through a rooted device
Hello,
What i am looking for is the Stock Bootanimation.zip file that comes with fascinate. What i wanna do is get the PNG files that make up the verizon boot logo. I want to take this and use it to make a boot animation for a diff device.
All i have is the bootanimation.qmg but i have searched and have not been able to find a way to get the images out fo htat compressed format.
Thanks for all your assistance in advance.
The stock boot animation isn't a zip file, it's a .qmg file...
stock kernels for fascinate don't support bootanimation.zip files. The .qmg is a proprietary format chosen by Samsung (shock!) and developed for them by the QURAM Corp. However, many custom roms DO support bootanimation.zip startup logos. (SuperClean 2.92 is a superb example)
The shutdown sequence however, is in .png format, although it also comes with a .cfg configuration file. Its located in /system/media/video/shutdown
Hope this helps.
Any way to get that boot animation? When I rooted my gf's fascinate, it replaced the verizon one with the default "android" in landscape mode.
Little off topic but similiar (not trying to hijack post), can you get the orignal backgound back after changing it to something else? It's not listed in the wallpaper choices.
I'm not sure specifically, but it seems that it depends on the kernel you have if you can install custom boot animations, since the Fascinate (and probably other Galaxy phones) don't really have the .zip support (i'm guess on what i've read).
I'm sure someone will correct me, lol

Are you referring to the background that looked like water? I believe it's been replaced by a different water one and that one is listed under live wallpapers.

No the rock formation background/wallpaper when you first bootup after installing 2.0.
I have my own deodexed, and fully rooted Rogers Rom.
No matter what I remove or add I cant seem to get my custom bootanimation to load.
I added the function of it with dsixdas Rom Kitchen tool, so i get a place in data/local to add a bootanimation. I added one in there, didnt work.
I then looked in system/customize/resources in here I had a bootanimation, downanimation, Rogersbootanimation, Rogersdownanimation.
I removed both Rogers animations, then replaced the other bootanimation with my one.
Still nothing, the only bootnaimation i get is a black screen with ANDROID in the centre.
No matter what i do cant get it to see my bootanimation??
Any ideas
Rename yours to whatever the stock one is called. Rogers_bootanimation probably. You can do the same for the down animation as well. Overwrite the files in the folder.

As you are already on linux, download android kernel kitchen from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659584
Then unpack the cm9 boot.img and in the ramdisk, copy logo.rle. Then, unpack cm10 kernel and replace the default logo.rle with the one you just copied(Cm9's bootanimation). Then repack CM10 kernel and flash it to your phone. If you need to edit cm9 boot animation, then convert the rle file of cm9 to png. Make the changes and again convert it back to rle and place it in the cm10 ramdisk. Everything can be done using the kernel kitchen.
Press thanks if I helped.

He just needs a boot animation, not the boot logo...
You can just make one by editing the images via adobe tool
And then converting it into a flashable zip...
No need to open the entire kernel ramdisk... Thats a too lengthy and complicated method

Oh, sorry. My mistake.
Hi,
I own a Samsung Galaxy A5 (SM-A500G) running on Lollipop 5.0.2. I have recently rooted my device and have installed a Root Explorer. My aim was to change my boot animation. At first, I thought that I would replace the bootanimation.zip in system/media, but then, I couldn't find any zip file in there.
I had many files, but the only three which seemed to be related to boot animation were these :
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
bootsamsungmini.qmg
I am sure that I can also do it by flashing the animation in recovery mode. But, I also like my default Samsung animation. If I had found the original bootanimation.zip, I would make a backup and would be able to restore the original animation whenever I wanted. But, with no original bootanimation.zip, how would I do that?
Thanks..

Oh! I understood that. Newer Samsung devices like this don't support the bootanimation.zip. It uses the .qmg format. At least other people who have this query will be helped...
