Hey pals im thinking to get a new android phone & im thinking to buy Lg optimus 1 . So howz this phone n i see only 2-3 custom roms available for it . BTW howz its speed of handling games n apps on it thnks
Best value for money at the 220euros price range, for sure!
So how much you wanna spend?
What are your needs?
Internet surfing, gaming, music, battery life demands?, movie watching, gps ?
For my needs is more than ok so far, it has everything i need... so..
1) what's your budget
2) your needs
The P500 was my first Android phone. Before I had the Samsung SGH-D500 so a HUGE jump of ages xD Of course I'm not old school I heavily used a iPodTouch 2G before. (Same prices more or less) For ME its enough and I can't wait for a good 2.3 ROM on that device. But if I NOW would have the choice I maybe would wait. Since LG is releasing the first DualCore Smartphone soon. But I took the Optimus One. And I think I bought the right device from the right company at the right time.
It looks good is not to big it can receive calls, SMS and E-Mails and stuff. Playing isnt really possible yet because of a touchscreen bug. Which hopefully get fixed with Android 2.3. And if I take a look on the hardware you get more then you pay. So its really a good choice if you dont want to spend that much money on a mobile phone. Also a good choice would be the Samsung wave which costs around 100€ more but does have extremly good hardware. (Like a Galaxy S i9000) However that one uses Bada NOT Android which was the reason why I didnt took it. But there are only a few good arguments why you should take a Android phone over Bada. So its up to you.

bro what toch screen bug r u talking about ??
sometimes the mobile takes a bit of time to register your touch. say, typing a msg. sometimes you type 2-3 letters & than only the letters will appear. but this is random & its not that it becomes totally unusable. just a bit annoying at times as it limits your typing speed & so will affect games that needs you to make a lot of touch control (no D-pad or scroll here).

It was my first android, and i think it is awesome. Some of my friends are using X8, Wildfire, X10. This phone's hardware worths more than its price, and believe me, it is an awesome choice to step into the world of android!
The only time I've ever noticed any significant lag was during the beginning of each level of Angry Birds. Other than that it has been great.
The phone is nice but check this thread for a common problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894210
nice work
nice work man...Custom ROMS to meet every person's taste.. GOOD WORK !!
This phone is the ideal way to get to know Android, imho.
It has decent performance (mainly because it is not memory restricted as many other phones are, X8 and original Samsung Galaxy come to mind), it comes with Froyo and LG has already promised a Gingerbread upgrade (though that will probably take a while to arrive), and it has no annoying quirks with regards to ordinary phone functions.
I come from the original Samsung Galaxy, which cost twice the amount and is still stuck with android 1.6 and incredibly low RAM memory (okay so the screen was awesome and it had 8GB internal storage). There was also a problem with the proximity detector which meant that I often accidentally hung up on people while talking on the phone.
None of that bull**** on this one, it works really well. I suggest you pair it with noejn's excellent Void. rom (beautiful black theme and very configurable!)
The only other budget android phone which might even be better is the ZTE Blade (aka San Francisco) because it's cheaper and because more ROMs are available.
Other decent budget androids:
- x8: stuck on 2.1, low RAM and no roms available afaik
- samsung apollo/europa: low resolution, stuck on 2.1 afaik
- HTC Wildfire: nice phone, but low resolution and slower processor
- that's about it, at least what's available around here...
- samsung apollo/europa: low resolution, stuck on 2.1 afaik
It already has Froyo.

Certain versions have about 150 MB of free memory available. IMHO that's "memory restricted" for a phone sold today.
Depends on whether we're talking about ram or flash memory I'm talking about ram and no, a phone with 512MB still qualifies as well-endowed!
Sent from my LG-P500 on Void.
would you still recommend void over one of the two gingerbread ports; either cm7 or the other? thanks!
I'd still recommend void over the Gingerbread ROMs at this point. It may not be the latest and greatest, but everything works.
GB roms are in alpha phase, one big benefit with VIOD is that the google Ads are blocked, if google ads are blocked in GB roms, then i am happy to use it...
I believe you can't get Adobe Flash on the phone because of the mediocre CPU used.
Just bought my tab 10.1 like a week ago, but as soon as I turned it on, I could noticeably see it run much slower than my Desire..
By slow, I mean the homepages take so long to rotate, bringing widgets or apps to homescreen or relocating them takes a few long seconds etc
the actual running of apps is not a problem
dunno.. dualcore, 1GB RAM.. thought it would make me wanna throw my phone away but it's completely the opposite atm..
Stock with all the apps loaded and the system not cleaned up, yes the tablet will be a lot slower, the displays anywhere will almost never give you the real experience because its soo overwhelmed with crap to show how fast it is. If you keep tasks killed via the Samsung task killer and don't just leave the tablet to fend for itself then it will be just as fast as your phone, for a faster than phone experiance, root, and install task 14 or overcome and your tablet will cruise and do so much more and fastern than your phone
At least we couldn't brick our cell phones back in the 80s ... they were already bricks

I feel you dude, the tab is seriously slow on touch widz 3.1. Since its using the slowest dual core, the tegra 2.
My sgs2 is much faster in every way. Even apps are smoother.
Flash overcome rom made it much better since its upgraded to 3.2.
But still slower than a phone.
Finally the kang ics rom made it on par in terms on UI smoothness.
Sorry you receive so much bad comments here. Most people don't feel the pain.
After spending so much money, naturally we expect the best experience out of the box.
Sgs2 is great, superbly smooth without the need of any mod or custom roms.
But the tab out of the box experience is just bad.
Don't be a whiner, you already bought the tab, learn the flash custom rom and you'll be happy,
Despite being slower than sgs2, I still prefer using the tab as bigger screen is really much comfortable for browsing.
@Ray1, It isn't the whole idea of raging at someone over a touch device, Hell even the first Glofish/Windows based touch phones were slow as HELL, I just feel that people have forgotten what it's like to have, I don't know, patience?
Sure it's a smart device, but also realize that the loading is based on how much information it has to process, Compare a 4" screen to something that is 10" it's like comparing Windows 95 and Windows XP, In a 4" device you would have everything served asap only because the DPI is lesser compared to the tablet, I feel that your comparison of the fastest smartphone in the market at the moment versus the tablet which was supposed to be an upgrade of the 7" tablet is somewhat unfair. I guess some people can't learn to appreciate, and it's all about bringing up the "car theory" of what is the fastest.
Just so you know, no offence in any of this, but the tablet was built to handle ICS. If the Google Nexus was running HC or Gingerbread, you would even rage at how horribly slow it is. Don't blame the system for being slow, blame the OS, just a minor update, Smartphones had the evolution of smoothness from Eclair>Froyo>Gingerbread where as tablet's are still in their first era of figuring out its era of smoothness, however ICS is the perfection of what HC had failed to provide and they just didn't care about pushing it out onto the next HC update because it would be pointless to try and fix something that was way past it's testing phase, better example would be trying to upgrade a Windows XP when you have an i7, you wouldn't touch the XP now that you have an i7 now would you?
@Benzo I completely agree with you on your POV
Edit 2: I want to keep this on topic.
@xcly - Yes you are right it seems. Many smartphones are faster than tablets.
My wife's Droid (something) I can't remember the model, I just tested switched screens instantly while my tablet takes a second to render the graphics and move to a different screen. Sorry you're disappointed with your purchase.

Is this where that rant was?

So we can complain, but not complain about the complaining? Now that makes my day. LOL
What a double standard. But, still makes me laugh.
EDIT: Looks like this "is" where several posts got deleted, not just my own, because we "complained" with reason based explanations about posts complaining about bananas not being as red as apples. 'nuff said.
@ The Mod who removed my post(s) I send a thank you because it showed how old people get grumpy and vocal sometimes when they disagree with what's being stated.
@Misledz - It appears your latest post doesn't agree with the OP and gives reasoning. So I might expect it to be gone soon too. As will this one probably will be also. I'm off to bed.
get cm9
You should definitely try out the cm9 pre alpha build, my tablet was equally as slow, almost unbearably, to the point where there was lag when using the keyboard. But cm9 is quick and speedy and if you don't mind losing the camera on ur tab for awhile definitely worth the update.
ah well at least i know i'm not alone in this tablet slowness :/
you know.. i would've rooted it the first second i got it out of the box but it's not just for my own use so really don't have a choice on flashing a better ROM
will probably have to get meself a new phone instead lol
Tablets are also pushing more pixels than a phone with the same processor hence the UI lag

its been awhile since i check this thread.
seems that some post were deleted. lol...
seeing how long post gets deleted, i shall keep my opinions as brief as possible.
excuse for tab10 being slow due to big screen resolution is invalid.
galaxy note and tab 7.7 similar resolution, but they are very smooth with no lag.
great experience out of the box.
reason: they use the exynos chipset similar to sgs2.
the performance is great. such as loading apps, actually running them, scrolling, rotating. there is virtually no lag.
My hate here, and rant, is mainly towards NVIDEA and their hopelessly weak procerssor and GPU. tegra2 is failure, tarnish android image. so sad that all first gen tablet uses it. makes majority average users feel android is slow.
lets make playing field fair and compare base on category.
tablet: tab7.7 powns tab10.1 and every other tegra2 tab out there. benchmark and real life usage.
phones: sgs2 powns lg optimus 2x and motorola atrix(use tegra2 as well). if want to be more fair, just compare optimus 2x, since atric has qhd screen.
i always knew tab10.1 use tegra2, but i still bought it thinking there isn much difference(i was so naive at that time). but its really really bad. HC makes it even worst. as the thread starter mention, its really a shame tab slower than phone.
look at the competition. i'm not apple fan, but i admit it, ipad2 is just soooo smooth and fast. (of cos it has its limitation and weakness), but over all user experience is smooth. the tab10.1 in the out of the box state is just.....sad.(dont want to elaborate).
i'm not a whiner. since i spend so much $$ for it.
i force myself to learn about rooting, and flashing rom. now on kang ICS, the performance is in the acceptable range.
tegra2, the first dual core, also the weakest and slowest.
tegra3, first quad core. but i'm not interested, will wait and see what TI and samsung offer.
take a look how tegra 3 get powned by TI's dual core.
being the first does not guarantee good performance.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with MIUI.
I have a P7500 3G with CM9 KANG ICS.
I have used both for web browsing and I did see my phone as faster until I set my CPU of my tablet to 1.4ghz.
It really has made a difference and my tablet browsing is awesome and quick.
I would also try using the Google Chrome Beta Browser. It makes web browsing a dream
Is there any way of speeding up the scrolling between homescreens? I prefer not to root.
Also for me the speed is disappointing. Used to the Ipad and Galaxy S2.
Without widgets it is somewhat faster but widgets is the nr. 1 reason to go for Android.
Huib
Wow this thread is over a year old now lol. You can't do much without rooting I'm afraid..
Disable all system apps you don't use and see if that makes any difference. Otherwise, it's root and freeze more apps or flash custom roms.

Hi to all,
Sorry about the question. Just want some opinion and i dont mean to promote/demote android or wp7.
I have desire HD, but mine having problem with random reboot, poor battery life(after overnight charge can last 7am-2pm)...thinking on getting a phone with better batt life with heavy use on whatsapps and browsing. No gaming or other funny2 apps on android
I should have buy another better android phone but now i already having other android devices (samsung plus 7.0 and Noontec android HD player). Now thinking on getting Lumia 800,do it have a good batt life?
Some say yes, some say no. I found mine decent enough, and I used it pretty heavily.
I did this switch about a week ago, having had a negative experience introducing my Desire HD to a marble floor at high velocity...
Basically I love the phone - the facebook/twitter integration is fantastic.
Probably worth saying though that the battery life isn't fantastic. Just about on a par with my Desire HD, though I do find the indicator to be somewhat overly cautious - 50% charge remaining looks more like 30 on the little display (reached this at 4pm today) ...
I use social sites, push gmail, spotify streaming (1hr), 10 SMS and approx 1 hr calls plus other minor stuff and generally get about 16 hours before charging. I suspect if you use it more you will get less. not a problem for me as it sits on the charger at work, but may be more relevant if you can't do that ...
The only thing I miss from my Desire HD is the Internet Sharing functionality, which is there in WP7.5, just waiting on Nokia to update it ...
The size and display are beautiful - I carry an iPad 2 for things that benefit from a larger screen, but am currently finding myself using the phone more for emails etc.
I heard a lot of negativity around the door covering the USB port, but I quite like it ....
You might want to see what happens with the Lumia 900 as well - that may have a bigger battery and better battery life (or it may not).

As a Lumia 800 user, I find the switch to be very painful and counter-productive. Here are some of the issues that I have encountered:
Extremely poor battery life. I cannot stress this enough. On normal usage (non-smartphone activities), it is fine. But try using Nokia Maps for 15 minutes or so and you will see the battery drain very, very quickly. And Nokia Maps is not even close to what Google Maps can do in terms of features.
No multi-tasking. Imagine this: you are in the middle of an action game when you accidentally press the Search button. Boom! The search interface pops up. Your game? Gone.
STILL NO USB OR WIFI TETHERING/HOTSPOT!!! Aarrrggghhh!!! It's 2012, not 2002.
Over-zealous OS lockdown. No third party dialer (those on the market aren't real dialer replacements). No folders for apps. No USB mass storage (fortunately, you can enable this through a simple registry tweak).
Very expensive games (compared to iOS or Android) with generally lower quality graphics.
Having said all this, your requirements may be very different from mine. It does have a nice & responsive UI, very good social network integration, nice MS Office hub and a nice email application. Some people swear by Lumia 800.

You will definitely like the Lumia 800 if you're coming from a Desire HD (I owned and hated that phone XD) the newer models of the Lumia 800 hasn't had any problems with battery life. For whatsapp and browsing, it's fine. Gaming drains as usual. See if there's anyway to lend one. To see how battery works out for you.
Nice point of view, yes, I don't do game on small device, even on tab I found it hard. But no tethering? How about near future, since my laptop will share internet from phone. I just want a simple phone with social n web browse. Thanks all

Not all games/apps can handle that gracefully. Fusion:Sentient would simply restart the game while Wordament would reset the score (when "switched out" at certain point).
Hi,
got my Luma on Saterday and i love it, i have came from an Desire, the differance is amazing, smooth and fast, will not be hicking this, hope there will be more apps comming out, had to wait a while before the android mrket got some decent apps.
the batteryis hard to judge got mine on all the tme, playing games or music downlaoding music frome zune (for free for 14 days woho)
came from desire s not going back
go for it..you will not regret it..you will get better battery life than the desire hd no matter what..my friend still has a desire hd and im trying hard for him to not convert to iphone..
the lumia is so seamless..so flawless..i had actually converted from the desire s to an lg optimu 7 but immediately realised i needed the lumia..got one from ebay and it really is amazing..try it..just try it..

Ahhh...ok, I have another solution, when you purchase your phone, download the app Skydrive, it's Microsoft's cloud connected to your Hotmail account, so you can upload your photos there and access them through your email account, that way you don't have to install anything and it's easier for you to upload pictures to that and load them on to your phone when you get home to your PC vice-versa.
Bought a lumia Hope its fullfil my needs...but look like it will...need to test batt life

Hi everybody,
I kind of in the same situation. I am currently an Android user, and I really like it, but two things bother me:
- OS Fragmentation, I hate having to install custom roms every time because the official update never comes, and manufacturers usually leave 6 months old devices forgotten.
- Another thing, I've noticed that WP usually have "less powerful" hardware than Android, there is no big race for dual or quad cores... That tells me that the OS doesn't need that much power to run smoothly.
Said that, i have a few questions. What is the expected longevity for this phone? Is it expected to receive the next OS update? and finally, what are the main drawbacks you find for the OS and are they expected to be solved in future updates?
Thanks in advance and cheers

Microsoft and Nokia have been doing quite well as far as OS and firmware updates are concerned. Sure there are lots of country variants for the firmware and they may not be released at the same time, but the wait is nowhere near as long as what Android users typically have to endure.
Also, OS updates seem to be quite independent of firmware updates (correct me if I'm wrong). At least this is the case for Lumia 800. So that makes it a lot easier for Microsoft to push new OS updates to WP users directly.
As for the hardware, you are correct. WP (up until now) does not really require multi-core CPU in order to run smoothly. Lumia 800 is packed with a single-core 1.4GHz processor, so it is quite a powerful phone. My only gripe is the under-powered GPU for gaming. 3D games look less appealing compared to their Android or iOS counterparts.
As for the drawbacks, I have already listed quite a few in the previous page.
For me I think I was happier with android, but the installation of new roms was a great pleasure for me, not a drawback.
The OS runs smooth as anything on its 1.4ghz core and I never use my phone for 3d gaming so I really have no need for a faster proc.
The biggest drawback for me are the following.
-Some of the 'simplification' of the OS is mid-boggling. If you turn down the volume because its late at night, or your music is too loud expect EVERYTHING on your phone to have a lower volume, the ringtone, the alarm, the games, the notifications etc. I have been late for work 3 times now because I had dropped the volume of my alert tones late at night and I subsequently had no alarm.
-The apps are lacking but expanding all the time, sometimes I get a bit frustrated by the 'no results' when searching for a slightly more obscure app feature. Android just has everything.
-The navigation is a long way off being as good as google navigation but is decent all the same, but NO WAY POINTS (stupidity!). That being said I still think google navigation is still a way off the market leaders like tomtom.
Basically for a day to day phone and for its core features, it is excellent. But dont expect to be able to customise anything other than your home tiles (sometimes). If an OS 'feature' could be considered to confuse a simpleton then you can bet your arse it wont be there.

When I played NFS Underground an accidently pressed the Search button, when going back to the game it didn't continue. It started all over. So no not a load of rubbish. Only native apps has continue on "multi-task"
It's not only native apps, third party ones can do it, as long as they're coded for it.
I switch from a Galaxy S3 (which is a ridiculous device in terms of software modification - called TocuhWiz) to a HTC One X+. I must admit it's the nicest Android modification i've seen so far. Compared to iOS it still su*** big times.
Anyway before returning my phone on monday:
- why is so less RAM left on such a high priced model?
- the interface feels laggy and slow
The really great thing about the HTC One X+ is that you're able to listen to music at a low volume level. Any other Android i tested was way too loud.
Don't you all feel a little bit taken like a fool - buying the best phone in the range of HTC (for Europe, i know in America there's a 5" available) and get 1GB of RAM where not really free memory is left. Oh and please don't say it's so good that RAM is used because of Caching. I encountered already the nice multitasking feature of HTC called "closing apps" ...
The poor multitasking on the One X+ is largely a result of HTC's non-optimal tweaking and not a result of 1gb of RAM available on the HOX+. This problem can most likely be fixed by flashing a non-Sense-based custom ROM like CM or AOSP. You also haven't given a particularly good reason of why you don't want to hear about the fact that large amounts of RAM being used on the device is not a bad thing. Would you rather only a small amount be used and instead we get no multitasking? If lots of RAM is such a big deal, why didn't you stay with the SIII?

If you do not like the device, return it. It is as simple as that. Comparisons between touch wiz, sense and ios interfaces will always be pointless as it comes down to user preference. I for one hate IOS for its lack of widgets and the fact that all apps must be on a home screen. I know users who love touch wiz and feel it is one of the most "innovative" skins for android yet. That said lets tackle your complaints. The misconception that 1GB of ram is too little just baffles me. This is a phone, doing phone like activities. Games on android so far do not even use 4 cores effectively (in 95% of cases), your going to tell me they can use 2GB of ram as well? Also it has been shown that the ONE X+ has "faster" ram then those phones running 2GB and can perform on par with them if not better.
It has been a long running complaint that Sense is "laggy" and "slow" this is something that people who know and use android know going in to purchasing an AT&T phone. I personally did not notice sense lag when I was on stock but quickly changed to a custom ROM when they became available. Sense allows you to keep 6 or 8 apps open ( I can not remember) in an attempt to not only allow the phone to run smoothly bur to also conserve battery (it consumes battery to keep several apps open). Please troll elsewhere.
And your volume comment makes no sense what so ever. Most people complain that phones do not get loud enough. If a phone was too loud in the past you should have just used the volume rocker to turn it down.
The comment about the volume is just right. Output of headphones and the earpiece is on most Android phones way too loud.
For music iOS has a simple but very effective trick to adjust volume levels really fine. You can adjust the whole system volume for media and in the range given you can now adjust the volume much finer than on Android. The One X+ is the first Android phone i had in my hands had an acceptable minimum volume for media.
Now for the phone part. The minimum volume for the earpiece is still too loud. Not everyone talks all the time in a noisy environment. If i can hold the phone 10cm away from my ear and still can listen to the other one on the line than the volume is much too loud on the minimum setting. Simple as that. On iOS it's not. So on the media volume rocker you can adjust the volume one more step lower than on a phone call. That's just simple bad software engineering.
RAM isn't used on android the same way it's used on windows. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. You can read more about it here.
1GB of RAM is more than enough for a phone. Yeah having more wouldn't hurt, but 1GB is not going to limit you at all.
As for the interface lag, I don't have much of a problem. Yeah sense is definitely more laggy than stock, but HTC's done a much better job with Sense 4. You can speed things up by installing a smaller ROM (stock ROM is something like 600MB, there's some that are around 250MB), you can use the V6 Supercharger Script and you can install Seeder. That should help most if not all of your lag.
XSafire i really appreciate your comment about RAM and believe me i know this. I'm responsible for a few servers. Anyway i wrote explicit that i already encountered the "closing background apps" Multitastking of HTC. If HTC kills Sense process i'll be ok with that but the MUST NOT close any app i opened.
I'm done with rooting and all the thing. I want quality for my bucks and i had to use Android as my carrier has an issue with AMR-WB and the iPhone5. The more i use Android the more it reminds me of Windows. Somehow all works in someway but no brilliant. Really, why people are wasting money and time and especially time in making a product work which costs hundred of Euros (in Europe ...) ...
I don't want to install custom rom as HTC repair has the worst reputation here in Europe. I'm still on my return period so i'll return the phone.
BUT Sense 4+ and the overall build quality is much better than Nexus4 and Samsung (i like stock Android, but Sense4+ looks like software instead of TouchWiz).
Looks like you need to flash a custom Rom!

Then return it.
I had the One X+ and love all the internal storage. I returned it because between my GS3 and iPhone 5 I didn't feel I gained much. Having said that, the One X+ STOCK, was great! To me, it did NOT lag. It worked great. Playing Dead Trigger on the highest settings without a problem.
Even though the devices with Quad-Core S4 Pro with Adreno 320 is more powerful, and with 2GB RAM, I decided to get the One X+ for various reasons. If I didn't have my GS3 or iPhone 5 I would have kept it for sure.

Well, I've not noticed any particular lag either. And if free ram is REALLY so much of a concern...I can get 500mb+ free on mine by disabling unneccessary services and running the supercharger script, so I don't really think that argument is valid. I mean...it's pretty easy to condemn something without even giving it a chance or making any effort whatsoever to tweak it. -_-
As for feeling ripped off....NO. Not even slightly. It's an awesome phone in my opinion.
If OP likes IOS better, then that's fine. Go enjoy your iphone. :/
i currently own a asus transformer tf700 which has serious i/o memory lag issues that require monthly flashing. i noticed some people seem to have the same problem with n9. whats the general consensus around here?
Get a Surface Pro 4 instead of Nexus 9. N9 let me down. It was laggy when on 5.0, 5.1 solved that. And recently, my N9 shows some signs of screen mess and buzzing when battery is low. Not sure if it's related to software or hardware.

it really depends on what you want to do with it
Watch movies? get a tablet with a 16:9 resolution instead, this one is 4:3
just some reading? this tablet will do fine
Use it for the occasional stuff like word documents, some games etc? it will still do fine
Serious multitasking? dont even bother with this one
hate redraws or application closing due to running low on memory? again dont bother with this one.
All in all i have the device since it came out, android 6 improved battery life some but honestly its just 1 big disappointment device.
As for the post above me, the N9 and Surface Pro 4 aren't even comparable with each other, spec and price wise. (besides the fact its also 2 different OS systems)
All things aside, the biggest downfall for this device is its 2gb of memory and its rather crappy dual core socket. (wich performs exceptionally well in single-thread, just dont expect anything that has to do with multithread and multitasking)
as for the memory, with the amount of pixels this device has you will average 500~600mb ram just to load most assets. they really should have given this device 3gb memory.

Yea i just bought for the black Friday sale 279$ for 32gig because 16 gig is just to small. But after looking thru a lot of these threads and seeing all the issues people have I'm seriously considering returning it. I have had every nexus device since the Galaxy nexus and im blown away by how many issues this device has and by the lack of development and just lack of general interest on the forums. 100$ more and i can get the Samsung tab S2 8.4, i actually really don't like Samsung design but with the lack of quality android tablets its either this or a ipad.

we also own a Samsung tab here wich has 3gb of memory, but frankly that device performance is even worse then the n9 due to samsungs bloatware. The only reason for a Samsung tab would be to buy it then flash cyanogenmod on it on something.
But yes, I do agree there is rather a lack of quality android tablets. tbh I might consider just buying a Surface tablet next, they start out at 500 bucks i believe, wich is like 50 bucks more then what i paid for the N9.
The reason I went with nexus devices is purely because they are as stock and bloatware free as possible, but the N9 in general is just bad. my 2012 N5 still performs fine.
We just have to hope for a N9 2016 or something with a quad core cpu (and that not being a nvidia tegra) and 3 or 4gb of memory.

Yea thats why i went nexus too i have a lot of device's but nothing beats a stock version of Android with quick updates, i cant stand samsung bloatware, TouchWiz but it's hardware is the best out there. As far as the surface unless it's a work devise i wouldn't recommend it. I actually have a Dell Venue pro with Windows 10, full version has a beautiful screen fast processor actually quite beautiful tablet . But windows ten as a tablet is terrible if you are just using it to read and watch movies and basic stuff, especially if you are tied into the Google ecosystem. The lack of quality apps just makes it worse there are work arounds for most things but they can usually **** up and generally at the most importune times. I really tried to make it work cause i like the tablet but i just cant, that's why i got this but I'm weighing my options now after reading thru these forums.
I'm also looking to get this tablet haven't had a tablet since 2013 how are the tablet apps for Android?

Dual core and 2GB RAM works very well for iOS. I don't expect that to mean much but there's no excuse for the performance issues really as a Nexus device is already stripped to bare essentials.
Why do I have no issues whatsoever with my n9!
