Swipe to Write weird behavior - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello guys,
today I wanted to test the Swipe to Write feature again as I didn't like it that much on the arc and noticed the following:
When sliding from letter to letter, the phone won't let me swipe the full word, it will just cut in the middle of the swipe and give out something like this: crzahs instead of crash which i tried to write. Any suggestions? Maybe a faulty touchscreen? As i did a factory reset yesterday because of some app always crashing my phone this can't be a software problem in my opinion.
Thanks!!!

Problem:word selection when using keypad

Hi dual-owners,
Anyone has a problem where when typing using the keypad (slideout keypad) you cant use the navigate button (left/right) to select the predictive word options.
U will need to touch the word option instead.
I think there was only one time where I could successfully use the navigation to select the words when typing?
Is this a common problem??
Thanks

Not me. I always navigate right and left with the button... Have you tried a soft-reset?
still a problem
Yes Sir,
I tried many soft resets - seemed weird at 1st but thought thats the best they (HTC)could do with a slide out keypad.
The navigation button to select word option works when ur not using the keypad (slid back in) but once u start to use it - the navigation button just wont work for me. have to reach up and select a tiny word option (which most of the time i miss) ..
This is my 1st PPC (sold my slow n95) and i love it except for this little annoyance + no wifi
So fellow PPC owners- if anyone has a solution i'll be grateful.
cheers
try hard resetting your device, (note not a soft reset.)
as it works fine on my orange branded touch dual.
it could be related to the operator rom that is on it, but i wouldn;t expect so.
Hi there,
I also have the same problem.
I also tried many soft reset but is the same.
I found PQz II Keyboard has an issue with this problem.
After uninstalling it, actually I had a hard reset and then install software one by one, the problem has gone.
Hope this help.
Yup thanks! all!
Did a hard reset and everything is back to normal (all workin fine now)- oh yeah the blank notification thingy is also gone -
Be AWARE: prior to hard reset make sure ur files in the storage arent encrypted and at least back em up somewhere. Cause my files (pics and music etc) became unreadable after the hard reset . (this is due to the encryption key that was auto-set by the phoneware on my "phone-state" prior to hard reset.)
Cheers

[Q] Now I need Help - Screen Problems

Hello. I'm a long time lurker, first time thread creater.
I have an Evo V from VM that's rooted, s-off, hboot 1.50 that was running CM10.1
Randomly it seems out of nowhere, the bottom strip stopped working. In other words I couldn't hit the calls button, the app drawer button, or the other 3 buttons on the homescreen. The hardware buttons still worked, and directly above the line of the homescreen dock worked. When in an app like greenify I couldn't hit the button to allow an app access, or in messaging I couldn't hit the text box to bring up the keyboard and start typing. When I went to do something that automatically brought the keyboard up I couldn't hit the spacebar, etc. At first I figured it was a hardware problem but now I'm not sure. This is because I enabled the dev option that shows you the input the phone is receiving. The little white dot came up exactly where I was touching, I just wasn't getting a response and I can't figure why. Tried the DU rom and the same thing. Tried the pacman rom and had the same problem. Yet the phone says that there is input there, things just aren't happening. This is further validated with the fact that when in 4ext, anything at the bottom of the screen where the dead zone would be, still works. Restored my CM backup when nothing else worked and for now the dead zone seems to be actually gone. But Idk how long that will last. Any ideas?
I'm guessing it's the pie controls getting in the way.
Go to settings>system>pie settings>trigger area>none
See if that fixes the problem.

Help with app taking over lockscreen???

Yesterday for the first time I got a strange new lock screen I don't remember installing.... When my phone (Nexus 6) is plugged in, and I wake it up, at first I get my regular stock lock screen. But, when I unlock it, this new strange lock screen appears in its place (the first image - which says at the top "0 Words typed today" and "1% beat global users.") When I tap the three-dot menu in the top right, I get the second screen (says "Boost Charge" and gives me option to uncheck.)
Does anyone recognize this? I guess it's possible it's malware of some kind but I am generally pretty careful. It seems like typing stats, but I only have google keyboard, swiftkey and touchpal installed, and none of those seem to be causing this as far as I can tell.
I would like to avoid a factory reset if I can help it, but I don't like the idea of something I didn't choose being on my phone..... Any help as to how this got here?
Same thing happened to me.
Found out it's SwiftKey. Wasn't even using it, so I just uninstalled it.

I've got the exact same thing. Annoying as hell. Don't have SwiftKey installed. Mine I believe is coming from TouchPal.
I got this to stop without uninstalling TouchPal. In TouchPal settings, go into General Settings and disable Daily Summary, which causes another annoying pop-up screen once a day. Then click on Power Boost and disable that. Exit, exit, exit.
I think the Power Boost, um, feature? is causing those random pop-ups.
Hope this helps somebody else. The keyboard itself is pretty good, so I'm sure some people won't want to uninstall it.

Yep, it's TouchPal. I found the Boost Charge one, but hadn't noticed the separate Daily Summary setting-thanks for the heads up.

Mate 10 Pro - Unresponsive on first touch after scrolling

Hey Friends,
i noticed, that unlike other phones, I am having the issue of having to tap twice on the screen to get the phone to react.
More specifically, when I am scrolling up (for example the whatsapp contact list) and I tap on a contact shortly after the scrolling has hit the top the app will not go into the contact despite the tap.
I have to wait 1-2 seconds and then tap for it to actually register the tap itself.
I am having a similar tap issue with the nav bar below. I find myself often tapping twice on the circle to get to home. Somehow the hits are not registering in time/correctly.
To my surprise, there are apps (e.g. the home drawer) that react on the first tap.
Anyone with similar issues?
anyone?

I'm having similar issues but went to settings/ smart assistance and messed with "touch disable mode and glow mode"
Also try settings/ language and imput/ pointer speed.
I'm giving this a try for a couple of days before my return period expires good luck!
Case closed?
I thought i was the only one since i hadn't seen anybody post about it
I finally decided to remove the "tempered glass" which after removal I realized its not tempered glass, but a very thick screen protector (don't know what brand, I got this phone from a friend). So I was hoping that the screen protector is the culprit and YES, after removal my touchscreen sensitivity is better now. I wouldn't say it's performing perfectly, but it's much better than before. No more typo every now and then lol.
Edit:
Still getting trouble (just less frequent than before) especially when im typing fast, the letter S and A usually missed out. For example, i typed "missed" but result is "mised". And spacebar too! So annoying
Also like OP, nav bar sometimes i hv to tap twice.
i have problem with navbar not responding for about 1.5 sec after doing some stuff on homescreen. workaround for me was to switch to different navbar style after phone reboot. after next one delay returns. reported it to huawei and we'll see what happens. im on 8.0.0.129. to reproduce just tap anywhere on screen and then rigt after try to press any button on the navbar.
Same here, had touch issue since day 1. Sometimes it ignores space, sometimes I have a hard time using gesture with OnePlus gestures and so on. Gloves mode help a bit. Probably some digitiser are worse and the software can compensate only so much. I mean you can always use the warranty...

Question Gesture navigation bar inconsistent and unreliable

Hey guys,
I got the Zenfone 9 yesterday and I'm already thinking about returning it. Main pain point at the moment is the Asus launcher, or rather the gesture navigation. Swiping left and right to switch between the applications is not working well for me. I'd say only half of the swipes (left or right) are actually changing the app. I'm pretty sure that I'm not too clumsy, since I don't have any problems on my Pixel 5 with the gesture navigation. Like I said, sometimes it works for a couple of swipes in a row, then it just stops changing apps. Then it works again.
I found 1 thread on the asus forums where a user had similar problem with the button navigation, without any real solution.
I also tried a different launcher (Nova and Neo Launcher), which of course suffers from the third party launcher bug (home screen blank for a second or just not registering clicks for a brief moment), so using another launcher is not an option and the problem with the swiping is present there as well.
Anybody else have this problem? Anything I can change?
PS: I had to do a wipe data via bootloader since the phone was stuck in a bootloop upon first boot, so I'm not offf to a good start here with this phone.
Use a case and tell us. Maybe a problem of palm rejection...
Using a case doesn't make a difference. I also have this problem when the phone is just laying on a table and I'm using just one finger to swipe on the bar.
After searching some more, I'm pretty sure that it is a defect. This issue is so obvious on my phone, I'm pretty sure it is a defective unit.
I guess I'll be returning this phone then......
Never had a single navigation bar misbehavior
