[Q] how to configure google voice for voicemail?

I want to replace my t-mobile voicemail with google voicemail service.
Does this mean that if people call my regular t-mobile number, their voicemails will be left on google voice? The thing is, I configured my Voicemail service to use Google Voice, and I tested by having my brother call my t-mobile number. However he still went to my t-mobile voicemail! Did I configure it incorrectly or am I missing some key component?
Download Google voice from the market, then run through the setup again and sync it with your gmail account, then it will ask you if you want to use Google voice as your default voicemail and disable t-mobile voicemail. Then that should do it.

Google Voice Callback App Unecessary Now?

What is the point of the Google Voice Callback app when the official Google Voice app can make outgoing calls now via the GV number? The callback app is not even needed anymore right?
I have a plan with friends/family lines that I can add. I put my GV number on there, so I can just use Google Voice to call out now for free right? I don't see why the 3rd party callback app is needed anymore.
Please help clarify this for me. Thank you.
Nevermind, just checked my Usage details with my provider. It looks like all outgoing calls via the Google Voice app go through a generic Google number (504-252-0100), which is not my GV number, thus not being counted as a Friends/Family call. OK, guess it's time to reinstall Google Voice callback. Bummer.

Google Voice update - Receiving text massages from Google voice AND messaging app

After recieving the new Google Voice update, I now receive text messages from Google Voice and the default messaging app.
I do not see a way in the Google Voice app to disable text messaging. I only use Google Voice for voicemail. I do not use it as my primary phone number.
Anyone know how to disable this?

The only thing I can think of is to turn notifications off on g voice, but I'm unsure if you'll still receive vm notifications then. I'm currently trying to figure out how to text with stock messaging app as gv number, but there's all these limitations and whatnot. They really need to start providing some better integration and support for gv overall, without Hangouts. Hope this helps somehow.

Play voice message depending on contact group

I am looking for an app similar to YouMail or Google Voice that will just answer the phone and play a custom voice message depending on contact group.
Unfortunately, YouMail or Google Voice are not working in my country.
I don't want to use the carrier's voicemail system but to store the messages on the phone.
