Is anyone else having problems getting Voice Mail notifications? For some reason mine don't show up and I have to call my voicemail randomly just to know when I have one. Is there an app I can download that can help with this? Thanks.
If you aren't getting the voicemail indicator, its most likely a network issue. The MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) Is a text message sent to your phone when a voicemail is deposited into your inbox. If you are receiving sms just fine, but aren't getting voicemail indications, You're going to have to call customer care from a different device, they will basically just reset your location on the network, resend the activation downloads and toggle your messaging services. That pretty much always fixes it.
You might want to also activate Visual Voicemail (just access the application, it will activate as long as your account is set up correctly.)
Thanks for the suggestions, I downloaded voicemail Notifier and it works fine, so I'll just stay with that. I think I deleted Visual voicemail when I was deleting bloatware.

Visual voicemail has been a godsend for me
You should switch your voicemail to Google Voice. Instant notification of transcribed voice mail, as well as free text messaging
Its because you deleted visual voicemail. Reinstall the apk or get it in the mkt it will fix it for you.

I loaded EF 3.5.1 and OTB 1.3 a couple days ago - this is my first time using a non-stock ROM and/or kernel, and overall they're great!
I don't want to use Google Voice's voicemail service, so I flashed the stock Samsung Visual Voice Mail zip that Nitro provided. I then set the Call setting > Voicemail service option to My carrier. I can use the Visual Voicemail app to check voicemails without any problems.
The voicemail icon in the phone app shows the correct number of new voicemails, but when I click the icon I'm taken to the Welcome to Google Voice window to set up Google's voicemail service. How can I get the voicemail icon within the phone app to launch the Visual Voicemail app rather than the Google Voice stuff?
Thanks.
try unforwarding your phone, I believe its *72, but if not try googling it

I used *73 to unforward my phone, and callers get my Verizon voicemail rather than Google voicemail, but the voicemail icon in the phone dialer still launches Google rather than Visual Voicemail.

That is because it is mapped to Google Voice.

Aah - I figured the voicemail app would be determined by the Call setting > Voicemail service option (although now that I think about it, no other voicemail app exists when EF is flashed, and there may not be a way to "associate" one later on) - no worries though.
Thanks for the great ROM, Nitro, et al!
Is anyone aware of an app that will copy google voice texts to the text messaging app on the phone and show them as new messages? I have a texting plan, but service at home sucks. I want to just use airplane mode and have wifi on at home, which works great with the google voice app. BUT I realllllly miss using handcent customization and custom text tones.
has anyone been able to play google voice voicemail from call log.
After recieving the new Google Voice update, I now receive text messages from Google Voice and the default messaging app.
I do not see a way in the Google Voice app to disable text messaging. I only use Google Voice for voicemail. I do not use it as my primary phone number.
Anyone know how to disable this?

The only thing I can think of is to turn notifications off on g voice, but I'm unsure if you'll still receive vm notifications then. I'm currently trying to figure out how to text with stock messaging app as gv number, but there's all these limitations and whatnot. They really need to start providing some better integration and support for gv overall, without Hangouts. Hope this helps somehow.
