My phone won't boot after flashing modem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After flashing the modem LPW through rom manager, my phone restarted and get stuck in a black screen after the S2 logo.
I can go into download mode but not in recovery, single solution would be try flash a rom through odin?

Happened to me all the time, that's really because the version CWW you has wasn't installed by ROM manager.

and what solution you have found?

I would reflash through odin.
Then I'd install latest CWM. I would not recommend Rom Manager for this kind of things on an S2. Better to flash directly from recovery mode.

Hmm. Phone only seems to like one rom

So I recently flashed to aospish_jk2_v1.0. Works just fine. But I wanna goof around with some other roms. But when I try to flash to other roms or my previous stock backup, it goes into the recovery flashing screen for about 2 seconds. Then the phone restarts and I'm in recovery. When I reboot the phone I'm still on the same rom..what should I do? Try to use odin to flash another rom?

are you flashing though the clock work recovery? Is the recovery letters blue or green?
I've found the best way to go between roms is always Odin back to stock, then install the new rom. That seems to prevent most problems.

I used rom manager to flash. But when in recovery letters are blue and it says android system recovery. So I'm assuming clockwork recovery actually hasn't installed?

You need to open rom manager and flash the CW recovery... from rom manager then click on flash to CWR... it will take you to stock recovery, click on reinstall packages.
now you are at CWR and can flash new rom.
Ah. My problem was that I never flashed ce recovery properly. Thanks guys.

Galaxy s3 GT bricked?

First off I know I shouldn't have done this before I was sure what I was doing, but I have done it.
I have used chainfires mobile odin pro to flash siyah's latest kernel to my rooted s3. i put the .tar on external sd. Opened mobile odin, opened file, and pressed flash. It said it's dangerous, I pressed continue and the phone immediatly rebooted, and is now stuck on boot loop.
I had never updated the phone from when it first came out, I just rooted and kept stock rom.
Any help much appreciated,
Thanks in advance.
Try to boot into download mode if this works you can flash a stock or custom Rom and kernel through Odin ans it should fix your problem.
Or try to boot into recovery and flash a custom Rom, either way should fix the bootloop.

As a precaution I'm going to ask if you have the American or international model.

Currently in download mode, going to try to install the latest kernel. Do you think that should work, or should I install custom rom?

I would say you just need to flash the kernel if that's all you changed, the Rom should be fine.

Did you choose kernel>open file>flash?

Phone stuck in recovery mode

I've just downloaded the latest CM10 ready to flash, booted into recovery but now I can't get out. its glitchingwhen I try to move between the menus and the power button to select doesnt do anything.
I've tried pulling the battery out, tried rebooting by holding down the power button, but all ends up back in recovery where I can't do anything.
Never had a problem with it before, phones been working fine and haven't changed anything since booting into recovery, CWM version is 5.8.4.0.
Any suggestions?
When it boots into recovery, try flashing the zip again. Worked for me when flashing CM9 on my SGS.
Can you get into download mode?

I managed to get out of it, but had to spend quite a while pressing buttons. It's glitching all over the place!
Trying to update CWM through ROM manager but that seems to keep on crashing too. Can I just find and flash the latest CWM Touch to update it and stop it glitching?
Don't use ROM manager to flash anything, use Odin or mobile Odin.
In fact, use Odin to flash cf-root, it roots and flashed cwm at the same time.

Oh I did that ages ago, I was talking about updating to the latest version of cwm. Is the best way just grabbing the latest zip from the thread in general discussion and flashing it?
And the only reason I wanted to flash through ROM manager is because recovery mode was glitching so couldn't navigate through the menus properly.

Yep, get the .tar and flash of with Odin or mobile Odin and that's the best way.
In future if recovery is glitchy just boot into download mode and flash a new recovery, I've had issues similar to yours on my galaxy nexus when touch recoveries came out first, flashed back to "classic" cwm and perfect.

You say that Siyah is installed successfully? If yes just grab the CWM version of the ROM (if available) and flash it via CWM.
dont work

i can only get it to download mode and install the kernel, cant write to the NAND or install rom
Remember roms are flashed through CWM, not odin.

Different recovery

Hello I've install the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2 but he's different that the screenshots I've found on the web.
On mine I have this one :
reboot system nom
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe datafactory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
So I can't see how I could install a new Rom from a Zip file for exemple, what is the problem ?
thanks for your answers.
You have stock recovery, not custom. Either you didn't flash correctly or you have stock firmware which will restore stock recovery on each boot.
Go read the sticky threads as you are missing some basic knowledge.

Try flashing PhilZ Recovery for SGS3. It's available in .tar format and you can flash it using Odin and selecting the .tar file in the PDA column. It worked perfectly for me
Goodluck!!
PS: it also supports JB + KK roms

When flashing the Philz Recovery in Odin , untick the Auto Reboot option. After that take out the battery and start your phone in recovery mode.

Yes it works !! thanks a lot and have a nice day !
... I've rebooted my phone and my old Recovry is back
Yes, as I said your firmware will replace the recovery each time you boot. Either replace your firmware with custom or live with stock recovery.
