Is it safe to connect the BA to an audio amplifier/receiver using a modified addapter through the headphone jack?
I have tried it for a short time and everything sounded perfect.

Sure, just make sure you don't overdrive the input of your stereo system by setting the BA volume too high. You'll know you're overdriving it when you start to hear distortion. On the other hand, don't set it very low because then you'll have to crank up the volume of your system and you'll be amplifying a lot of noise as well.
Also, make sure you're using an input that is designed for a pre-amped signal, like a tape playback, AUX, CD or MiniDisc input. DON'T use a phono input as that is designed for low levels.

All I need now is TV out from BA and I can say I have the all-in-one gadget a man can need. Thanks again.

I've got an aux input in my car, and today when I tried plugging in my GSIII, I got met with a faint but annoying whistling sound underneath my music.
It stops if there's no sound being sent over the wire, but the moment a notification (or music) starts playing, it comes up.
Car worked fine with my DX, and still works fine with my friends' iPhones, but I get the stupid sound with my brand new galaxy siii. Oddly enough, it works fine with headphones.
any ideas guys? I'm kinda stumped.
Search ground loop isolation. You are getting dirty power to your phone.

Do you have the phone charging through the cigarette lighter? You can get ground noise from there, and it will be transmitted through the phone to your stereo.
Hm. Let me try again without it charging, but that's strange. Why did my old DX not experience this?
Assuming that's the issue - will a different cable solve the problem?
edit: So I checked the phone without plugging it into the charger. Still get a whistling noise. It's really more like a high pitched hum. I notice that if I don't plug the plug in all the way it doesn't happen (but I think I only get one channel).
I'm getting the same thing, and it's driving me crazy. At first I thought my brakes were going bad in my car!
I've tried different audio players and apps, but it still always get the noise. The phone is not charging, and I did not get this with my old captivate either.
Any ideas?
Doesnt happen in my Porsche. I'm using Bluetooth audio though.

I am having the same issue. First time experiencing it though; never heard it with the iPhone, HOX, or NS
I'm using a line in cable, and when i jiggle it, i can hear the noise change tone at the same time. I have a feeling it might be because it's a regular stereo cable and the microphone combo jack on the phone is not working right with it. But that's just a guess.
It's pretty annoying and its making the phone unusable as a music player.
Happens in my Lamborghini (Dodge Caravan) when using a MP3 player. Usually, if I run my hand down the cable it clears as though it's some kind of static build up in the cable.

try flipping the cable (putting the aux in side into the phone and the phone side in the aux in) it happens to me sometimes and if I flip the cable it clears it out I couldn't tell you why though. also make sure there isn't any dust in the ports or on the cable ends.
That noise you hear is most likely due to the electrical system in the car. I rent cars all the time for work and never know the shape the electrical sys is in so to resolve the issue I bought a Kensington Cable from amazon and now have CD quality sound from any music app including pandora & spotify.

Unfortunately, my cable is RCA on one side (L+R channels split) and regular 3.5mm on other.

Not sure what you mean by "the electrical system" and the "shape" of it. Could you clarify? As I said, I have no problems with other devices in this car.
I would usually suspect something wrong with the car, or maybe a ground loop, but I can plug in my Galaxy S (Captivate) or iPod with the same cable, same everything, just switching out the phone, and the noise goes away.
The way the noise cuts in and out between songs, and when I close the music app, it seems to only happen when the audio chip is getting a signal or is being energized. This is making me think that it may just be a noisy chip :crying:
I was on conf call with SGS3 plugged to AUX, no power charging was going on. And either noise canceling didn't work, or noise was getting in thru AUX line to receiving end. I didn't have problems listening, but ppl on the other end complained, and I had to mute the mic.

I am having the same problem. My HTC Thunderbolt never had this problem. Same car and cables, I get the hissing and popping until I play something. Then it goes away until I stop the music and then it comes back again. Weird and disappointing.
The problem comes from the 4-pin (TRRS) audio jack in the GSIII combined with presumably bad grounding in my 2007 Honda Accord, or the Aux adapter.
I fixed it with a simple DIY solution. I cannibalized a TRRS headphone jack and bought a TRS (3-pin) port from radioshack. I clipped off the jack with a generous portion of wire, then stripped them and cleaned them from their insulation (they are covered in insulating dye).
I connected 3 of the wires to the TRS connector, and taped the whole thing up. No more hum.
Also known as Road Noise. Where the power cable and audio input are too close to each other. Electrical current emits a small magnetic field which will hinder audio quality and promote road noise from the alternator.
This is a very typical senario in car audio install, when you run the power cable and rca right next to each other.
this buzzing noise happens to me every time i drive my car for the past 3 years:
solution: turn down the car volume. if you keep your car volume half-way, then you wont hear it as much, or you wont hear it at all.... you can make the phone volume as loud as you want though. also, as you accelerate faster, the noise gets louder. watch, try it.

The reason I ask this was, 2 days ago just got my car AUX line in cable replaced the L/R RCA adapter casing cracking and hollow sound immediately or after sometime of playback. The AUX cable are plugged into headset output of a Sony MW600 stereo bluetooth that connected to my S3, iPad2/new iPad.
During the diagnost by the car mechanic, he uses AUX cable directly plugged to an iPhone4, the volume come from it was much higher compare to plugged with S3 headset jack. Both iPhone4 & S3 was at max volume but can say it's around 6~10dB different or 250% volume gain with iPhone4. Never did I reliaze this different as most of the time I was using my stereo bluetooth to feed my car stereo AUX line.
Next thing I'd tried, out of convenience for MP3 playback through my car stereo I've decided to purchase a cheap China made Nano5 MP3/4 player (with camera), the one look like the long & slim old iPod Nano with small screen. Playing it through my TDK BA200 iem the SQ was mediocre and with much lesser bass than S3 or iPad3. But to my suprise, when connecting it to my car stereo, the max sound volume was even higher than eiher S3 and iPad3., not to mentioned the bass are also more punchy than the other 2.
With 2 different results,
1. S3 audio playback through TDK BA200 iem, SQ and bass are super, loud and fuller, but through my car AUX line are otherwisely low bass & volume.
2. MIC MP3 playbakc through TDK BA iem, SQ are mediocre, lower bass & volume, but through my car AUX line SQ are good, loud and good bass.
So now I am confused. Should I considered S3 headset output consider low volume? Or it was because of compatibility or impedance issues? Hope anyone good in audio experiences can explain/advice me on the S3 different audio output behaviour. Many thanks!
Btw, my car was Renault Laguna III 2.0A Turbo with original head unit and 8 Pioneer components speakers.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, with normal iem Galaxy S3 headset output considered loud.
My problem was when S3 plugged into my car stereo AUX line in it was otherwisely low volume and light bass.
This is comparing S3 with made in China MP3 player, iPhone4 and the built in CD Player.
I'm still puzzling why was S3 behaved that way.

its already loud enough, but there are ways to boost it further. either use siyah kernel (has loads of option for sound) or franco kernel and feel the difference.

Sorry to bump old thread but ive just got a s3 and the level 15 volume through headphones is low volume actually compared to my htc desire hd it sounds like its on level 3. Any ideas on why this is happening?

its because there is a config issue on the phone. there are ways to fix it but i wouldnt use Volume+ i tried to contract the owner many times and have never had a response. its a waste of money and not fit for the job as it crashes other apps on the device.

Default.conf file can be altered a number of sound output threads on XDA can be read .
Siyah kernel has built in louder vol .

Hi, there's a program on play called 'mixget' which can increased the headphone out gain it doesn't need a rooted phone I used it on the s1 and it seems to work on the s3 under the current jellybean. I love headphones.

i found, without changing kernel or flashing a mod, yu can install AC!D Audio Engine from its official site, it has many audio pluging and conf like Dr.Dre Beats and it should power up/clear/bass boost your audio.
Problem
Now, I've got this very weird problem. When I plug the headphones and play a Midi using the default player (only when using the default player), the volume is low even on 15. BUT this doesn't happen when it plays any other filetype (mp3, etc...) . Also, Midis play louder (as they should) when I open them using another file explorer (ex. Es file explorer) with the default player. Does anybody know how to solve that issue? I can't find anything that can help on the net.

Has anyone noticed terrible noise when using an S3 docking system or cable to output both Audio and Charging?
- extreme hiss and random noise, machine processor noise, crackle etc. (only if charger is plugged in as well)
- after 2 seconds of no sound, you can hear what resembles to be an AUDIO gate...that kicks in and mutes the noise until you trigger your next button sound.
- Even if you listen to a song, and think it doesn't happen while listening to a song...IT'S still there...fighting the song and causing degradation in Audio quality.
- not too mention, phone calls will NOT route through the USB jack, and music and navigation type stuff.
- if you unplug the charger, the sound cleans right up and sounds fine. It's the combination of having the audio and charging outputs all in one.
- ground loop isolators do not help
I have a background as an audio technician and some electronics skills and I did hours of testing and modding...unfortunately! All failed. I own an Ibolt car cradle (which I did most of my testing with), a KiDiGi desktop docking cradle, and I even hand made a cable that could trigger docking mode. All three of these scenarios FAILED with the NOISE factor.
I have resigned to thinking it is a hardware design bug with the S3. I have modified my Ibolt so that it sends out audio from an extra cable that plugs into the Headphone Jack...which as a bonus, as sends Dialer audio.
(I just realized that this is the i9300 thread, and I have a i747m but maybe this thread could help all the same)
I've had three S3's and used USB audio out to my car stereo via 3.5mm. None ever generated any additional noise.

Eddie...can you confirm these points:
1) You have a usb cable or dock that comes out the bottom of your S3, and it splits into USB for charging....and 3.5mm for audio? (NOT THE HEADPHONE OUT)
Is it a cable or dock and would you mind tell me the name of it?
2) What do you plug the audio into?
- stock car audio input
- front aux input on a car deck stereo system (stock/aftermarket)
- rear aux inputs to aftermarket stereo
- other?
3) with the steareo turned up fairly loud, but no music playing, do you hear any noise when you click buttons (assuming you have audio enabled for button clicks in Android settings) When pausing between loud music, do you hear any white noise, machine noise, hiss etc.?
4) What is your S3 model? (i9300?) and what OS version.

I've used the Samsung Infuse and also iBolt docks. Both have the split USB cable for charging & 3.mm audio.

I don't remember any noise when clicking buttons?
But we're talking about AUX input which is analog, so when you turn the volume up with no music playing, you'll always hear some "soft" occasional clicks & hiss.

AT&T GS3 with various ICS ROM's. I don't use AUX anymore because my favorite ROM (AOKP) doesn't have audio out capability when docked.

Thanks for replying Eddie. I am so sick of this troubleshooting this crap sometimes. I am very happy with the S3. It is a giant leap forward from my HD2...in most ways...but not all. I am suspecting the USB audio out on my S3 has a defect.
Right now, in the car, I have resigned to using the USB for power and the Headphone jack for audio send to the AUX input of my Sony car stereo on a custom wired Ibolt docking cradle. I still get some PROCESSOR noise when pressing the buttons but it is about 5% of the intensity of using the stock wired Ibolt, or KiDiGi desktop dock...or my hand wired Ycable. Without the USB charging wired up, there is NO NOISE whatsoever with either method.
Digital Output
Reading many threads last night, I discovered that with some roms/kernels, it is also possible to output pure DIGITAL audio from the S3 USB port into a select number of little affordable boutique like amps which decode and amplify the audio and power spkrs and headphones.
My first S3 had some weird noise when using bluetooth. So I drove over to my local corporate AT&T store and let them know. They walked out to my car with a demo S3 and we tested it and it didn't have any noise at all. So they swapped out my phone for a new one and I've been happy ever since.
Maybe you could try that?

Yup that's it. There are a few examples on youtube. Interesting how it's this TRADE SECRET feature. I mean, I have not seen this advertised anywhere and the places on the net where I found examples....the guys talk about it as if it's this common well known feature. Apparently, next to having one of these setups, the Iphone4 has the the best rating for sound/volume/curve output...almost neck to neck with a dedicated DAC...I think they call it!
I bet if I spent another $100+ bucks for one of these amps, and ran it in my car through a power Inverter (12v to 110v inverter), that I could run the Digital signal out without the interference of my USB analogue out issue. But, I am past that now.

Arkanius...are you saying...
1) You had the same terrible noise when charging in a car.... with usb audio analogue into aux input of car stereo?
2) and that you hooked up a DAC to resolve the car noise issue? If yes, would you mind sharing the DAC model with us and the cable used?
Although I may be digging up an old thread, it may be worth looking into (Currently majoring in Electrical Engineering and having completed two signal analysis classes).
themadproducer, were you able to get a spectrum output of the noise? If it just a set of static frequencies, a cascading array of notch filters may work out
EDIT: reading your mention of the USB charging, its quite possible that if the voltage converter is of cheap quality, the transistors involved in the voltage conversion from 12.0-14.0 Volts DC down to ~5.0 Volts DC may be giving off Radio Frequency noise, with the noise being picked by the audio cable due to physical proximity, akin to cross-talking in network cables ( a form of mutual inductance)
OK so I'm stumped. Got my new LG G5 and it's pretty sweet so far but I'm running into a very weird issue that's kinda hard to explain. Basically it boils down to my G5 not being able to play audio through a normal 1/8 inch headphone auxiliarie input connected to my car CD deck. Before I got this phone I was easily able to connect my old phone to my car's aux input with the same cable and worked just fine but not with the G5. I tried the same cable with other speakers and the G5 plays perfectly though anything else. Other phones play just fine through my car's aux input. Only the G5 seems to send a signal that's very faint and has a lot of static on top of it. It's very strange. I do a lot in audio production and can't explain this unless the G5 outputs some weird audio signal that's not compatible with certain aux inputs lol but that seems ridiculous...
for what it's worth
I noticed that my volume all around is much higher with the G5. My G3 was much less loud. Is it possible that the signal is too strong and the car deck is therefore producing too much distortion - have you tried just lowering the volume on the G5? I'm hardly an Audio expert, but my current settings are all practically on the first notch above 0 for most notifications whereas on the G3 they were all in the middle.
I have also noticed the volume on the G5 is quite loud. I have tried playing through the car speakers at a lower volume and unfortunately I get the same static and weak signal.
Strange thing for me is that it connects to my audio Bluetooth adapter when I am nowhere near the car. I had to plug the adapter into a lighter adapter that shut off when the car does to keep this from happening.
If I can't get this thing to work just plugged into my car system I'll have to buy a Chromecast Audio and plug that into my car decks aux input. I just don't understand why it works everywhere but my car's aux input.
i'm getting more static than music with my g5...might send it back to get another one since i doubt this is a software issue?

Do you get static on all external speakers you try? I only get static when connecting via aux input on my car stereo. All other speakers it works great!

Ugh. OK. Now i gotta figure out how to get to my rear aux input. lol.
That did it. Pulled out my deck and connected to the back aux port just fine. So weird. At least there is a workaround. Thanks MF Doom!
