My brother just picked up an S3 today and we were trying to play with NFC and wi-fi direct. My phone is rooted, his is not (and will not be). The problem is with NFC.... we have tried about 50 times to make that work and most of the time it won't even recognize that the phones are next to each other. Out of 50 attempts we have successfully transferred one photo, which is just not cool!
We have used wi-fi direct, but NFC just sucks... I even watched a few videos that showed how other people were doing it and for some reason it just doesn't work very well. Is it possibly because my phone is rooted or is NFC just not that good? The phones were back to back and touching, we even tried offsetting them (top to bottom) a few different ways, and nothing seems to make it work. We get to the screen that says "touch to beam" and then it just sits there. What the heck is going on?

I was using WatchOn yesterday without issue. Today, I try to turn on my TV's (I have two in the same room) and neither one would shut off or turn on.
I tried uninstalling the updates first, but this produced no change.
I read similar issues with others and found that one person just uninstalled and reinstalled their app to get it working. So I used Titanium Backup to do just that, but the issue still persists.
Are there any other ideas on getting this to work? How about another IR app so I can see if the infrared is still working? My only thought is using my NANDROID backup to see if the IR still works, but I don't want to go down that route just yet.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Just tried "IR Remote" and "Samsung Remote Control IR" from Google Play and neither one of them worked... Getting worried that the IR is broken.
So I tried numerous things to get this to work and decided to call Samsung. They had me try some things that were unsuccessful. They escalated my ticket, twice, and it is now going onto a higher support where I should expect a reply in 3-4 days.
The lady tried to tell me it was because I was in a different country than the US, which I had to stop her and tell her why that had nothing to do with it.
In the end, it was a simple answer that I would share for those who experience this in the future. The culprit was my aftermarket battery! I had ordered a 7500mAh Hyperion battery, which is huge, but does add quite a bit of extra power in comparison to the stock. However, I noticed the IR capabilities were gone... I threw the stock back in (with less than 15% charge left) and the IR worked without issue.
The Hyperion 7500mAh BATTERY COVER DISABLES your IR, despite having a hole on it for the IR area...
I recently purchased a USED S4 Active, and I am having an unusual problem with it.
I will leave my house in the morning. ALl during my drive to work, my data does't work. It's on, it just doesn't have "4g" at the top, and I can't use the internet, etc. Toggling the data does not help, neither does resetting the phone. About the time I get to work (after about a 15 minute drive), my data pops back on.
Today, at work, my phone connected to a stray wifi connection (One that I have used before, so my phone remembered it) just for a minute or two. Once it disconnected from the wi-fi, my mobile data was gone. Just like when I leave my house: It was gone for about 15 minutes, just like before, and then just popped back on like everything was OK.
I don't THINK this is an issue with my particular phone, but if it is I need to know so I can return it. I've searched high and low, but no one else seems to have had this problem. So I figured I would turn to the best!
Model: Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
Android version: 4.2.2
AT&T phone, but unlocked and working under the T-Mobile network.
Bump, i guess.
I have a bit of an update over the weekend. Apparently this isn't JUST from wi-fi. I had it turned off over the weekend, and I still would get dropped data for about 15-30 minutes at a time, about 2 or 3 times a day. I would have full bars, have good phone service, but just no data connectivity. The "Mobile Data" option is on the entire time, it never shuts off.
I'm going to the T-Mobile store hopefully today or tomorrow, but my hopes aren't high. I'd much rather get help from people who know what they're doing.
So I bought my phone from AT&T just as the new M8 was coming out (got a good deal as a result) and ever since that day its been dependable, efficient, and never lagged a single second.
But then the HTC Sense 6 ROM started to act up, opengl issues, and various bugs that drove me insane! So I switched to CM11, (btw no IR or radio or hardware encoding support on it) and all went well until about 2 weeks ago.
Suddenly my phone is sluggish at times, especially on switching applications, and the battery life went from around 10 hours average usage, to 5... Now its down to 3... Not only that but the phone is HOT!
If I even watch a Twitch stream, or YT video, or play a game, or even navigation, camera, chrome, anything with it (including listening to music), the device gets to 43 degrees C. That is with the device out in the air, passively cooling.
If I leave it on a surface, with the back covered up (like in my pocket, or watching a video in my bed) it will go past 50 C, and climb further! At one point in my car while driving, (was charging and navigating, aux was connected so i could get audio navigation through my speakers) I suddenly realized I had past my exit 5 miles back, and had to stop to check the phone...
The phone was not responding to my wake button presses, nor holding it down, it was not outputting directions, and the red LED light was softly lit (not flashing) so immediately I unconnected the charger, and aux cable. The phone still didn't respond, holding power + vol up soft resetting it worked. But what struck me most was how blooming hot it was! It was NOT in direct sunlight, nor was the display on. It practically burned my hands! I had to look up how to soft reset the phone, using my old LG Nitro HD which is my GPS tracker for my car (nifty setup btw).
Now I had an LG Nitro HD which did this sort of thing 24/7 and I could not STAND that phone, since you had to baby the device every second to keep it cool, otherwise you would need to restart.
I have seen numerous threads online about the HTC One getting toasty, and it has before for me, but NEVER THIS HOT! Also this only JUST started happening (its not related to CM11 since I had a backup of HTC's ROM and it did the same thing (in fact it was even slower x.x)
Now here is my question : is this a normal occurrence for smartphones of this age? I think its 1-2 years old... Its past the warranty I suppose (still have the card, and box btw) Is this something that I just have to deal with?
I have used the phone alot while it was charging, and left it on a charger for a long time after it was fully charged... (i thought newer phones had a disconnect for charging)
What bothers me is how suddenly the phone has become stricken with this... problem. It has only been 2 weeks, and battery life is effectively halved, and I am afraid to even USE navigation anymore (unless I hold the phone up infront of an AC vent, which I did all the way home >.< not a fun task since its a manual!)
Thanks in advance!
I had this issue with my M7 for T-Mobile. I would factory reset it and things would be okay for a while until I logged into all of my common apps and realized it would happen again... Some apps make the phone work harder and a lot more on the M7... The way I fixed this was I removed apps I didn't really use and make sure to not be logged into apps that I don't commonly use... The other thing I did was restart after using any video and audio apps... One more thing was I turned on the power saver option with vibrate and cpu unchecked and my phone started acting better...
Edit: if you have insurance through at&t I would go back to complete stock (get rid of tampered flag and red warranty warning included) and let them know it's freezing up. They should send you a replacement and it may help you out...

Yeah actually I just factory resetted the phone, and its absolutely normal now... Furthermore the USB speed is no longer 1mb/s and instead is back up to USB3 speeds!
BTW I did a firmware AND software factory reflash / reset.
i have lg g3 and a days ago the screen start flashing appearing and disappearing i tried everythin i saw on youtube and stopped since they ask me to open it and mess with it inside so anyone faced that before and how it can be fixed
I've seen this issue via the youtube videos. I myself never experienced it, but aside from doing what they state, your only options are to:
1. Factory data reset if possible
2. Take it in for repairs.
3. Do it as it explains in the video.
That's about the extent of it unfortunately.
i agree. unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do. i encountered this issue with my g3 a few months ago. the screen would freeze and eventually fade out. once it faded out, it wouldn't come back on right away. i'd have to wait a few minutes to attempt to get the screen to turn back on. the digitizer still worked fine, so i was able to interact with my phone. i just couldn't see what i was doing. sometimes the screen would work for a few minutes. sometimes a few seconds. it was very unpredictable. i took the phone apart and reseated the connectors for the camera and screen. the screen worked for a few days and then started having problems again.
i was able to install airdroid on my phone to mirror the screen to my pc. that way, i could still control my phone. using airdroid, i was able to run titanium backup to backup my data. i've retired my g3 and am running with a borrowed s5 while i wait for my pixel phone to arrive.
It definitely seems like a lot of these G3s are failing at the same time, which would be at or beyond them being 2 years old. Mine was just shy of being 2 years old by a week. So it definitely seems like these phones fail within 2 years. Funny how it all seemed to happen right after the 4AA update. Not saying it broke the phones because there are plenty of people out there running 4AA without any issues, so this definitely seems to point to just the age of the phones that are failing.
I used my phone every day doing everything. I don't just take/make phone calls, text, browse the web. I play games a lot on it as well when I'm bored (which is most of the day lol), etc.
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening
Really losing hope with this device as have never got it working in my existence of having it (around 6 months) for some reason have come back to try now as a pretty big waste of money when I actually would have a use for it.
I’ll do as best I can to outline everything I can think of but if anyone has any suggestions they are more than welcome.
The basics of the problem are that when I connect the box via HDMI to my TV it show the Beelink logo, moves onto a please wait animation screen, then boots to the home screen for about 0.5/1 second before signal dies completely (or at least the TV displays no signal) and nothing I do seems to be able to get it back (unplug HDMI and plugging back in (at both TV and box end), cycling extensions on my TV). I have tried around 5 different HDMI leads, 6 different TV’s/Monitors (Samsung/LG TV’s (from UK), a Chinese imported monitor and an ASUS monitor all capable of outputting at least 1080p, TV’s can output in 4K), 3 different power cables but all to the same outcome.
I have flashed different firmware versions with no issue to try rectify the problem but still the exact same thing happens, factory reset the device multiple times (although it isn’t setup anyway due to the input error), if I go into recovery the display holds perfectly, doesn’t cut out at any period of time (essentially could leave it on forever and it wouldn’t cut out as far as testing, leaving around 10 minutes and then moving option as didn’t know if it would go to sleep if I didn’t press anything but this remained on for at least 40 minutes with no issue with display).
I’m lost as to what I need to do to get the box to work and while I am tech savvy enough to get by, wondering if someone far smarter than me has any suggestions of what else the problem could be. As far as my knowledge I would think it was software related due to the screen cutting out but holding/showing recovery or boot animations fine, but could be wrong. Didn’t know if it could be something like the firmware trying to set the display to auto but all my displays not recognising whatever signal it is trying to output?
Hopefully someone might have some idea’s for me to try.
Thanks
