Dear Users,
i´m not happy with the ICS Update of my Xperia S. Because of this, i want to go back to Gingerbread. Is there any chance to downgrade from ICS to GB? If it is possible i want to keep my files (music, gamesaves and so on). My Xperia S isn´t rooted and has a locked bootloader. I´ve used the search but could not find any related topics regarding this on Xperia S.
Please help !
Use flashtools to flash gb firmware.

Okay flashing from GB to ICS should work with the flashtool without losing any apps and data? And I can just flash from ICS to GB with this tool?
Sorry for my noob questions, i personally have a galaxy nexus and this ohone is for my girlfriend ;-)
Yes same tool to upgrade and downgrade.
In flashtools you can un-tick wipe user data to preserve all the data but not recommended.
Best way is to backup with a backup tools and restore after flashing what you need.

Sounds good
Can I just flash [FIRMWARE][6.0.A.3.75] Central Europe Generic ? Should work I think? I´m asking better two or three times because it´s important that I dont lose any files
I´ve found this: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239 and there is "Wipe data" marked on! It this needed for a successful downgrade?

Ah I´ve seen now. I think I try to downgrade without wiping user data first. Then i will root the phone without opening bootloader (so i can use titanium backup) and should I get problems with it I will reflash with GB Rom. Should work, or?

You are making things very complicated for yourself.
No need to root, just use any backup application without root access.
Only backup the contacts if you didn't by Google account and sms.
All the files in the sd will be intact.

Yes i know it sounds not perfect what i want to do I´m worrying for the files that arent on the sdcard. She has many games and would not lost the saves. Because I think not all games are saving their files to the SD. What Backup Tool do you recommend for non-root users?

I updated my xperia neo via OTA(the update 2.3.4). I tried to install however after 5 minutes, my phone turned on and it said that : could not install.....(or something like that, i dont remember clearly)
Is there anyone has the same problem?
Sorry for my bad english
is your phone rooted ?
My guess is that you phone is rooted and you changed something in the /system/apps/ folder, so you can't update OTA. You should re-flash back at 2.3.2 and then do a OTA or update with the PC Companion software but in this way you will lose root...

No, you got the problem only if you are already with the 2.3.4, if you flash back to 2.3.2 from the 2.3.3 firmware you should have no problem.
I tried restoring some apps which i had removed and download the update again however, the problem still remains.

Use wotanserver or flashtool. Faster and with flashtool you dont lose your apps and dont need mess restoring apps.

Read the forum and you see.. when updating 2.3.2 to 2.3.4 you got problems with battery. You had right now 2.3.3 and dont mess downgrading. Use flashtool..download latest 2.3.4 ftf and flash it. I did it about 5 times for testings and no problems at all.

I alway when flash new firmaware then i wipe device and after that i havent root.
I use different method to get root back. If your bootloader is open then you can easly make root back.
Use "rootxperia.zip" via clockworkmod recovery.
So. Is you phone bootloader open or on?
Anyone can confirm that?

Its good choice. When you have working computer, then make you updates.
Always good to have a usb cable and a working PC on hand when doing any flashing/updating/rooting etc with your phone. with 2.3.4 once it's installed and if you don't have root, as long as you have an unlocked bootloader you can use rootxperia to root your phone, however the kernel for overclocking etc (doomkernel) isn't working yet with 2.3.4 so i suggest until it is 100% working to stay clear of this, also to stay clear of any downgrades to 2.3.2 when you are on the 2.3.4 firmware.

If this does not fix it, you can also try clearing data and/or downgrading it.

It seems to me that he/she is NOT alone, it maybe a bug from Google or SE, please a couple of days to see if it works again. I got a lesson, upgraded it to .62 fw, flash it back to .58, rooted again, installed ROM Manager, upgraded back to .62 to let Market works till now.
I spent one whole night to overcome the problem, you may wish to wait for a while.
Thanks for replies.
I'm currently on 62 firmware, unrooted.
And all settings are correct.
I also recently clearing all caches app,
but still the same.
I'll try to reset later, if not work,
then i'll try to unlock BL n flash other ROM.
Thank u all...

Without rooting it, you may still wish to do you yourself an experiment to download ROM Manager in order to get the OTA , to see if it works by Wifi. Remove that manager afterward. It won't harm, will it?
BTW, don't forget to let us know the outcome.

Use super one click..rooting your phone has nothing todo with baseband..
1-Root phone
2-Install custom recovery
3-backup current stock rom
4-Download and flash custom rom
5-profit
EDIT: gingerbreak apk. Might work, but im not for sure.

Read more about Basebands.
You are using gingerbread.. it means you are already using NEW Baseband.
You Don't need to change any Baseband. You Don't need any BB fixes.

i am in Greece.. if i flash it with the stock ICS 6.1.1.C.1.0 file which i found here and it's from T-mobile Croatia, i think that my sim will not work..
My XU is simlocked with Orange - Poland and works great with any region ROM (sometimes GPS needs fixing). Have you tried ADB restore root method from Flashtool? For some reason bin4ry never works for me, but Flashtool one (isn't it the same script?) always works.
