Check/ask rom thread re same problem and modems first as its 99% not a warranty problem .
Warranty void anyway with root and custom rom .
jje

Pretty sure the problem is that your modem is incompatible with your firmware. On the S3 the newer roms require a newer modem specific to the firmware.

I've experienced this for the past three days too. Stock OS, latest UK version.
The only workaround I've found is to use the Speaker but this is hardly satisfactory. I'm about to do an (inconvenient) factory reset to see if it cures this and other issues.

change modem

Well three customer service also suggested to use speaker. But let's me honest no one buys a phone just to use a a speaker.

If you are running XX"B"___ firmware, apparently you need to match your modem.
Check post #2 of my modem thread for modems to try

Well omega 9 is based on blg1 firmware and the modem which ships with blg1 is lf3 so it sounds kind of odd you have phone issues when you are using matching stuff.
Maybe try blfb modem since its compatible with omega 9/lf3 and is the modem designed for the UK.

Yeah seems odd if modem DXLF3 is already packaged with the ROM.
And there are other "B" modems to try as well, all documented in post #2
Only takes minutes to test.

[Q] ICS for GT-I9100T

Hi,
Does anyone know of an ICS ROM for the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100T model?
You can use any rom for the I9100. Makes no difference.
Just flash your i9100t modem back on ics works for me.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I already installed an ICS ROM intended for the regular model, and it is very very buggy. The internet connection is very bad.
I did some research on the Web and what I understand it's a problem with the modem. The modem for the T model is different.
I'm in Israel on the Pelephone network.
Hi 7t
I wrote my comment just as you wrote yours, so I didn't see it.
From where can I download a modem for the T model?
Thanks.

As 7tOny4 says, the T thing is about the modem, nothing to do with NFC.
No NFC in Israel anyway.
Thanks anyway.
I have a GT-I9100T and have been using various ICS roms, including the CM9 nightlies, for the past month or so. At the moment, I'm running Resurrection Remix.
The modems included in the latest roms have all worked fine for me, so all I've had to do is re-add the appropriate APNs If for some reason it doesn't work with the included modem, just flash a modem file from your carrier or another local carrier that uses similar frequencies.
There's a collection of modem files from different carriers globally on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
With the official release of ICS today, I expect that we'll be seeing updates to all of the main one-off roms within the next few days, including updated kernels and modems.
I have a gs2 i9100T and running remix ICS 9.6. It is fast, smooth and stable.

You have a very old Gingerbread baseband from september last year. LPS works excellent, I'd give it a try.
Downloading LPS now from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950&page=105
does Vodafone has any different modem for SGS2?
Still facing same issue upgraded modem LPS Its still the same.
Strange thing is Use 2G network and Data Enabled is unchecked itself whenever I had this problem.

[Q][JB] Callers not being able to hear my voice.

Hey guys, I've got this weird issue, which I can't seem to get resolved myself, so I'm here to ask U guys for some help.
Basically I've got the EU version of the S3.
AP: I9300XXDLIH
CP:I9300CEDLI1
CSC: I9300PHNDLI1
Phone has not been rooted, has no custom ROM or anything of that kind. I'm running stock JB.
So now to the actual problem:
After updating to JB, my friends told me they couldn't hear me AT ALL anymore when calling. When both receiving and making calls.
The funny part is that when I call with Viber, Skype or send messages through HeyTell, it all works fine.
Long story short, normal calling -> no-one hears me. Calling over the "internet" -> no problem at all.
So my guess is this is a software-related problem rather than a hardware one?
Anyways I hope someone will be able to help me out, or atleast provide me with some advice!
Thanks in advance,
Raain
Ofcourse it is a software problem. Did you try factory reset?
Or try different mobile operator?

Odin is not the problem. I flashed my phone with Odin while my father flashed it with Samsung kies. Before the JB update we had no problems calling people and after the update we have randomly problems, while we are making calls we don't hear any sounds. Last time i called a person (didn't hear any sounds too) and after a min or 2 i hang up. I called him back and he said he picked up the phone and didn't hear anything.
Jellybean 4.1.1 is the issue, i hope samsung fixed it on 4.1.2
We shouldn't have to change csc after an update from OTA but hey its Samsung were talking about

Help!!

Guys, whenever I try a custom ROM on my S3 (intl), I cant hear any calls I make, but the people on the other side can hear me!
But when I return to stock the problem vanishes!
Is there any solution to this problem?

first time I heard this kind of issues, have you tried making a full wipe after flashing??
also try with an unbranded rom from samsung and see if the issue persists, if not check with the rom developer

Got same problem
Hi!
I've got the very same problem myself.
Solution: when your phone boots, do something to make it beep (like playing around with volume). If the first sound after boot is not a call - it works.
Second, check your Baseband version. Sadly, I can't now remember which one CM10.1 use (I may look int it and post additionally if you're interested). You may need to update either baseband to match CM built-in RIL or flash RIL that matches your baseband after each firmware update. I do second option, but I will recommend using first if you're not a dev
Third, latest CM10.1 nightly (20130711) is totally broken for me - I use 20130709 now

Should I (can I) update my modem?

My understanding is that on the I777 the modem and the kernel are combined in one partition. Although I've installed several different roms so presumably different kernels, my modem has stayed the same: I777UCKH7
Is there an advantage to trying different modems? How would I do it?

Can't believe you have flashed several roms and the modem hasn't changed. Most of the newer roms I have flashed have included the latest ucmd8 modem.

If he's been flashing AOSP-based roms they won't change the modem, so it's conceivable he's had the same modem across different flashes.

I'm confused about why you'd pick one over the other. Are you looking for newer/faster? The best one for where you live? The one that runs best with your Rom? I had a lot of problems after I tried to flash the ucmd8 - May have been coincidental but either way the modem didn't work.

Can someone direct me to information about modems? The development thread referenced above lists a number of modems, but doesn't tell anything about them. Is one better than another? Is the latest one always the best one? The development thread used to have a map, but it has been removed. Are some modems better in some areas than others? I am trying to find the one in my area (central California) that has be best reception in a limited coverage area.
I am running the latest version of AOKP dated 6/24/13 and the baseband version (modem?) is i777UCKH7.

You answered your own question right there - flash them all and give each one about a day to see how your reception is. The map you're talking about was removed ages ago because it became corrupted.
In the end no one can tell you which one is better for you; just because it's the latest modem doesn't mean anything at all, in terms of reception/quality.

Thanks. It sounds like there is no reason to start playing around with modems unless you are actually having reception issues and then it's totally trial and error. My modem (UCKH7) seems ok here (southern CA) so if it ain't broke...
