[Q][JB] Callers not being able to hear my voice. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I've got this weird issue, which I can't seem to get resolved myself, so I'm here to ask U guys for some help.
Basically I've got the EU version of the S3.
AP: I9300XXDLIH
CP:I9300CEDLI1
CSC: I9300PHNDLI1
Phone has not been rooted, has no custom ROM or anything of that kind. I'm running stock JB.
So now to the actual problem:
After updating to JB, my friends told me they couldn't hear me AT ALL anymore when calling. When both receiving and making calls.
The funny part is that when I call with Viber, Skype or send messages through HeyTell, it all works fine.
Long story short, normal calling -> no-one hears me. Calling over the "internet" -> no problem at all.
So my guess is this is a software-related problem rather than a hardware one?
Anyways I hope someone will be able to help me out, or atleast provide me with some advice!
Thanks in advance,
Raain

Ofcourse it is a software problem. Did you try factory reset?
Or try different mobile operator?

Hey, i am having the same problem too. And i did tried factory resetting the phone, but its still not working. Any other advice???

changing csc to your country will apparently do the trick although csc does wipe your phone but.

do you mean the country i am in or the country the phone was from?
edit: btw, i am trying to flash the stock rom for now

I got the same issue and i am pretty sure it's Jellybean because before i didn't have this issue. My operator is Telfort.

Switch out the modem for the new baseband one. Had the same problem after ICS Odin and wanna lite 5.0 flash.

Odin is not the problem. I flashed my phone with Odin while my father flashed it with Samsung kies. Before the JB update we had no problems calling people and after the update we have randomly problems, while we are making calls we don't hear any sounds. Last time i called a person (didn't hear any sounds too) and after a min or 2 i hang up. I called him back and he said he picked up the phone and didn't hear anything.
Jellybean 4.1.1 is the issue, i hope samsung fixed it on 4.1.2

We shouldn't have to change csc after an update from OTA but hey its Samsung were talking about

I had the same problem on my phone with Chinese ICS. I think the ICS bugs or radio version doesn't much with your provider. I don't have problem anymore with this leak, I think;-) I'm not sure though.
Have you tried to change different radio version? You can get it from here.

There is no risk. Now, I'm using PSHAsiaRetail ICS with EU .3 radio.
My signal seems to be better. I didn't miss any sms until now, I think. I'm not so sure though as I m not heavy sms user.
Pls write your experience after you have tried.

Well, since I'm still on warranty I'd say the first immediate thing that i would do is to check this out with my country's customer support, but if all else fails I'd either flash a new radio ! Thanks for the suggestion! Any other possible solutions

I wouldn't think they will have a good answer for it. I tried to complain about this to my provider but no solutions.
Anyway good luck with that! Pls share your experiences.

Hello. I'm also using the current stock ICS, 673.94.324.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03 and I haven't experienced that issue. I've been using ICS for 5 days and it runs smoothly on my Razr, no problems encountered so far. However, I experienced it once on my old phone, I just pulled out my sim card and put it back again. Try using another sim card?

I've tried pulling the SIM card but to no avail, still no messages ( Tested ) , I don't think the SIM card is the source of the problem here since I can send texts, make calls and access the internet but it's just that I'm getting loonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng delays over the retrieval of texts. But then again I'd try any possible means but the Razr is using a MicroSim
For the past 6 days, i'm on ICS stock PSHAsia and i'm also have the same problem. What i did just dial *#*#4636#*#*, click on phone information, scroll down until you see SMSC and just click refresh. Worked well for me

When calling, cant hear other end.

Hello some times when making a call i cant hear other end of the call. And after that when i try to make a call just getting bep bep bep and i have to restart the phone. Does any one else experience this should i take it to warranty?

Check/ask rom thread re same problem and modems first as its 99% not a warranty problem .
Warranty void anyway with root and custom rom .
jje
Pretty sure the problem is that your modem is incompatible with your firmware. On the S3 the newer roms require a newer modem specific to the firmware.

I've experienced this for the past three days too. Stock OS, latest UK version.
The only workaround I've found is to use the Speaker but this is hardly satisfactory. I'm about to do an (inconvenient) factory reset to see if it cures this and other issues.

Well three customer service also suggested to use speaker. But let's me honest no one buys a phone just to use a a speaker.
About changing modem version, can any one sugest to witch one? For Omega 9

If you are running XX"B"___ firmware, apparently you need to match your modem.
Check post #2 of my modem thread for modems to try
Sent from my GT-P6810 using xda premium
Well omega 9 is based on blg1 firmware and the modem which ships with blg1 is lf3 so it sounds kind of odd you have phone issues when you are using matching stuff.
Maybe try blfb modem since its compatible with omega 9/lf3 and is the modem designed for the UK.

Yeah seems odd if modem DXLF3 is already packaged with the ROM.
And there are other "B" modems to try as well, all documented in post #2
Only takes minutes to test.

[Q] Indian Rom XXDLJ5 writes secretly SMS to india

Hey folks,
yesterday I flashed the newest rom XXDLJ5 (India).
Everything went just fine.
Now i looked at the connections on my online bill.
I noticed that my phone has written (shortly after flashing the rom) secretly a sms to
this number: +91 9560345888.
Google could only tell me that it is an indian number.
There is no hint on my SGS3 why it has written this sms.
I set this number as spam in my sms app, so i hope this was the last time this happened.
That costs me 0.13€ everytime...
Does anyone have an idea why this happened???
Thanks in advance...
Few people facing same problem but it is for one time only ie for 1 st boot only ....

Every New Official ROM flashed , sends an SMS to a different number as noticed in all my devices after official update.
So thats for one time only where SAMSUNG registers this device of having flashed the official version on their handsets.
This is also introduced in the ICS builds for S2 and Notes too.

Ok thank you so much! Flashed 2 times the LJ5 :/
Not going to touch the India rom anymore. Plus it performs weaker in games than LJ4.
After buying the Indian S3, most operators provide complimentary data packs. I got 3GB for the first two months. So maybe it has something to do with that?

Also the Galaxy Note JB ROM sends SMS
Not only the Galaxy SIII, but also the Galaxy Note N7000 Jelly Bean official Indian (South Asian) ROM sends SMS to the Indian number +919560345888 each time you flash the ROM or perform a factory reset. This has been a mystery! See my post here!
I will NEVER install TW rom on any of my Samsung devices. That really sucks my money 5 months and today I faced this. I have I9301 and loved to flash custom tw roms but my bill increases every month mysteriously for sending sms to this number. Samsung and your little tricks........

Help!!

Guys, whenever I try a custom ROM on my S3 (intl), I cant hear any calls I make, but the people on the other side can hear me!
But when I return to stock the problem vanishes!
Is there any solution to this problem?

first time I heard this kind of issues, have you tried making a full wipe after flashing??
also try with an unbranded rom from samsung and see if the issue persists, if not check with the rom developer

Got same problem
Hi!
I've got the very same problem myself.
Solution: when your phone boots, do something to make it beep (like playing around with volume). If the first sound after boot is not a call - it works.
Second, check your Baseband version. Sadly, I can't now remember which one CM10.1 use (I may look int it and post additionally if you're interested). You may need to update either baseband to match CM built-in RIL or flash RIL that matches your baseband after each firmware update. I do second option, but I will recommend using first if you're not a dev
Third, latest CM10.1 nightly (20130711) is totally broken for me - I use 20130709 now

[Q] Network issues

Hi everybody,
My friend's mum has an SII which has run into a few problems.
Its always set on Emergency Calls Only. Also, whenever she tries to make a call it gives a message saying that it cannot register to the network.
Build: JZ054K.I9100ZSLSJ
Baseband: I9100XXLS8
I can provide any additional info if required.
I thought it would be a modem-related problem- its something that's come up in the Galaxy S I9000 forums (where I usually am)- but I'm not really sure about that. ZSLSJ is the 4.1.2 rom for Hong Kong. Its stock and unrooted.
If it helps (especially for any NZ SII users who might know), I'm in New Zealand, and the phone's on Vodafone.
The motherboard has been changed as well to try fix the problem, but it hasn't changed anything.
Any help/guidance/advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I don't think so. I think its a standard I9100, though I will check later today.

Nope, it isn't the T version.

So what have you tried? Is your imei there and ok? Have you tried to reset your apns?
RR 4.2.2
The IMEI seems to be intact.
I've told my friend to try flash other roms- tried the NZ one as well, same problem. Reboots don't help. His mum doesn't want to factory reset so we haven't tried that yet.

Really sorry to revive an old thread, but the problem's come back again. It was fine for a bit of time until now- the SII's still saying it can't connect.
Would flashing the NZ 4.1.2 solve the problem? Or is there any other way to stop this happening?
