Getting S2 Fully back to GB Stock - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
I had recently upgraded to ICS as it released in the UAE a few weeks back. After i had updated i found that the stock camera application was very bad.So i decided to go back to GB using odin.I flashed the PDA file and everything went fine. But now it seems like the camera is still like ICS,and there are a lot of force close pop ups,i cant seem to do update OTA.I have never rooted or done anything on the phone other than downgrade to GB.Guys so is there a way to fully go back to GB.

u can flash an official GB rom from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
hopefully u can get ur GB camera with no force closes.

first of all, make a full wipe (cache, dalvik, /system and cache/factory resets). then flassh any Stock/cooked GB rom.can i suggest u Darky rom?? is the best for GB. excelent sammy rom based rom.

No, you need to wait for your region. You can of course flash one of the releases but you may get problems and end up having to wipe the phone to solve them.
You can get everything back except for your settings. You'll have to do the dance but everything else is recoverable.

I always find it best to wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik at a minum but before that you could always backup your apks and data using titanium backup or Mybackup root
flashed the swedish JB stock rom over the UK 4.04 stock rom earlier today. Doesnt seem to have given me any issues so far and all my settings have remained. Ill full wipe if i start getting any problems but so far everythings fine

I have an OTA update of about 25 mb but, it gets stuck at 25% & ultimately fails after reboot.. Tried either stock recovery or unrooted condition but, no joy.. Should I have both conditions at the same time or is something else the culprit. ?? Note that, I have installed Vertumus JB Domination theme which might've modified the build.prop...

Reverting back to ICS from leaked JB

Hey guys, need a little help here.
I know this is a silly question but still I wanna make sure, nothing goes wrong
I'm on leaked JB XXLSJ firmware and I want to revert back to ICS 4.0.3...So i just simply need to flash back the 4.0.3 via odin, right?
Because i read it somewhere, few people downgrading from leaked JB to official ICS FW had bricked their phones.
So i just need to flash the .tar file via odin or I need to do something extra?

What most suggest is to use a kernel without brick bug just to be safe, though many say it only occurs when going 4.0.4
When I went from LSJ, I installed PhilZ kernel where theres a function for a clean rom wipe (PhilZ settings i think its called)
Then after that to be safe I did the full wipe, cache partition and manually format /system and /data (don't wipe SDCARD)
Then installed an ICS rom again, its always best to do a clean wipe just to make sure because there will be differences between JB and ICS.
I've gone back and forth from ICS and JB many times now and so far everything is ok:good:

You could click Thanks instead of writing Thanks
1)Download latest PhilZ Kernel
2)Boot to recovery
3)Flash PhilZ Kernel
4)Reboot to recovery
5)In Recovery - PhilZ settings - Clean wipe for rom install
6)Wipe data/factory reset
7)Wipe cache partition
8)Mounts and storage - Format /system , Format /data, Format /cache
9)Install your ICS rom

Dont be a fricking idiot, That will brick his device. You forgot to tell him install custom kernel after flashing rom.
Just go back into download mode and flash Siyah kernel (.tar) and then you will have custom kernel and ability to boot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset. Once this is done rom should boot fine.

Steps are like these..
--Go into download mode after flashing custom rom.
--put latest siyah kernel's .tar file into PDA and then flash.
--Wipe data/cache.
--Reboot.
Right?

Actually sorry my bad and apologies. Must have not noticed he specifically wants 4.0.3 not 4.0.4.
No real need to stay on 4.0.3 though when you can get rid of bug by flashing cutsom kernel on 4.0.3.
Help
Im stuck in recovery after trying to flash back to stock and getting stuck in hidden, how do I get out of this dummies guide please.

Camera not working :(

AOA...just bought samsung galaxy s2 and wanted to root it.. i guess it is refurbished but i checked it thoroughly so it is the international s2 a.k.a GT-i9100
I flashed it using odin with siyah kernel, loaded CM10.1 and flashed it via CWM....
1.wipe data/factory reset
2.wipe cache
3.wipe dalvik cache
4.install cm10 and gapps
5.reboot
All was okay until Camera not working both front and back cam arent working so i di alot of research tried the last 5 siyaah kernels, tried to flash cm9 (ics) but no it still doesnt work... in some forums it was mentioned that it would work ig i revert back to stock firmware..
So my questions is please help me to either solve this camera issue preferably on JB or ICS then... OR please guide me to which exact file of sotck firmware should i download.... which works best with our networks... (its 500mb+ takes time )
Thanks in advance
Note: not a noob, have experience flashing custom goodies on note, backflip, captivate, etc stuck on this though
Update: flashed stock firmware via odin got it from samsung-updates.com. It is ics
Still no luck camera not working... Now when i checked for updates in cellphone its showing me an update so im trying that... P.s hardware isnt an issue b/c checked camera when the phone came in on GB..

Short story: Read the OP of every ROM you flash. It will say something such as "Coming from another ROM" and have instructions. The condensed version is:
-Full wipe for changing between android versions
-Full wipe for changing between ROMs
-Don't (have to) wipe for upgrading the ROM to a newer version of itself. (unless stated to in thread to do so, & android version doesn't upgrade/downgrade)
So what about change from neatrom to disaster it need full wipe like u say >full wipe for changing between roms
And do u mean by full wipe = wipe cach + wipe data + wipe devkin ?
Okey ..but what about system formating when I should do it ?

Always do a full-wipe to avoid issues! (bootloop,force closes,random reboots,freezes,etc..)
mate download 2 things gsromnuke & gskernelwipe by hawkerpaul (flash them like u flash rom) and everytime u want try new rom use gsromnuke and flash new rom , if u want flash new kernel use kernelwipe before flash how mate previously said to avoid problems.
a about rom compability as long u flash rom designed for ur device i asume u got international gt-9100 u will be safe dnt matter its stock, custom stock or cm.

stock rom problem

hey guys, i have the international version of S3, I9300. . I searched a lot for an ics stock rom, and finally found it.. installed it with odin, all good, now rebooting..but its stuck at samsung logo.. and it stays there, and if i go in recovery it shows some red errors, something like ''can't find system dir, or data'', and can't mount them.. installed another recovery, tried twrp, and cwm.. and i saw that system partition is 1044 mb occupied, so the rom is there, installed.. but.. can't boot.. also, every ics rom tried isnt working, just isn't booting.. only 4.1.1 + ... i want to try ics because im fed up with ram problems and poor battery life.. it should be 1 gb ram, and my battery is 2850 mAh ... :/ ...some help.. thank you
after flashing ics rom, boot to stcok recovery. select wipe data & cache then reboot. first boot will take 5-10 min.

ps.. tried cm9, still stuck at boot..
You can't go back from a newer JB-firmware to ICS easily: it has another efs-format (makes loose IMEI) and needs another bootloader. Use search function to inform.
ICS isn't necessary for good battery life. Try NCS-ROM (JB) or Slim (KK or LP).

i will stick with NCS ROM, good ram management, very light rom.. KK is boring and not baterry friendly.. and lollipop is too laggy.. so ics isn't worth it on S3?
I used NCS for 1 year, but JB isn't safe anymore. So I'm on SlimLP. It runs fine, if you don't install elephants. As batteryfriendly as TW. ICS is out of area IMO and tricky to go back.
But if you have such strict opinions about various Androidversions, why do you ask?

well,i tried so many roms and my favorite android version is lollipop..but every lp rom tried ... the ui feels laggy.. can't compare it to stock lollipop on other phones , and that is annoying.. my opinions are not that strict, its just.. every android version left me with an impression.. btw, what do u mean with JB isn't safe ?
security leaks...

You can go back to jb to ics. If you face imei lost problem, u can easily fix it by flashing modem.
Try this Ics custom rom. Epsilon Project - ICS - V3 and use older version of cwm recovery to flash this rom.
I tried this rom a month ago good battery life than other roms. But ics rom don't support more new apps
I suggest you to try Liquid smooth KK rom Use greenify and Amplify to get good battery life.
