I have sammy kernel installed, i tried all the included governors and schedulers, all of them OC'd at 1.9Ghz and i still don't get better Vellamo or GL benchmark results. Stock unrooted, i was able to get 2350 in vellamo, now OC'd to 1.9 i barely get 2100.
Has anybody else not seen any improvement while OCing and actually felt a decrease in performance??
not all CPUs are the same, yours might not be able to handle 1.9 try bumping it down a little. There are also a lot of variables in these crap if you ask me benchmark apps, just because you OC doesn't mean the scores will always go up. Just use it and see if it feels smoother to you or if it's sluggish
Well i'm able to go down to 1ghz and still get a very smooth experience...even the vellamo score was around 1800 for a 1/3 of the cpu
I'm really satisfied with the S4 Snapdragon, it barely heats up
Benchmarks mean nothing. My old atrix had better benchmarks than the gs3 (both stock) and that phone is half as fast as this one. Go by feel and day to day use. Not buy some random numbers that appear on your screen.
If it make you feel better I officially give your phone a bench mark of 999999!

Perhaps the only point I'm about to make is to reiterate that benchmarks don't necessarily have any connection to real life performance...
...I'm pretty sure that with my Evo4G and CM6 w/ Snap clocked @ 1190 min/max I was pulling in 2400+....last year....hell, maybe more... I don't remember....aside from benchmarks that kernel wasn't much different from any other of the fastest kernels of the day.
Then again, we all know that the Snap kernel wasn't playing fair....and 1190mhz is pretty much 1200mhz, and there is a good chance that only measures one core well, or at all.
Relative to actual hardware I'd imagine relative to my ~2400 score of last year the Evo3D should probably pull in closer to 5000....relatively...
...benchmarks mean almost nothing and this is a great example of why and how.
32 FPS on the spiral thingie is awesome, think i got like 8-11 on the evo4g, even on CM6/7 at 1.2ghz etc.
and that glowy part after the tunnels would bounce in the 8-12 range as well.
I honestly never cared much for benchmark apps but I know some people do and since I have one there at work I figured lets do a favor for some that are wondering about it

I've been running some really basic tests on the new Roms and kernels that are starting to pop up and I want to know if any of you agree with me on this. While using Cherryblur v1.4d and the stock ATT kernel I can get around 3500 on Quadrant Standard (I know its not the best benchmarking tool out there). Thats on a fresh reboot 2nd run. Then I flashed Faux123 OC, pushed the clock speed to max 1.1 and min 1.1, set on boot, ran the same test. Fresh reboot, 2nd run and got the exact same score...weird. So if this is the case whats the point of the OC? Has anyone else seen similar results? Or is there perhaps something I'm missing?

You are only overclocking by 10%, even if it was 50%, Quadrant is not a cpu benchmark, what will impact it most is the 3D bits and the database tests. Data2Ext on the htc legend will almost double the scores with a fast external sd card used for data.
For these kernels you should be asking yourself, where did the source come from and is it a later version than what is compiled stock, and was it even designed for the Atrix?

Ya...quadrant isn't really designed for CPU but I'm pretty sure it takes it into some type of performance boost. Like on my Nexus the same .1 overclock boosts the Q score a good bit.
Yeah, quadrant scores are sketchy at best.
My cm7 nook color OC'd to 1300 scored 3100+
As by the title, I get a low score on CleanROM 3.7 based on ICS 4.0.3. My result is just 1700. I haven't found any benchmark result based on this rom but I know that stock should get at least 2400-2600.
Has anybody benchmarked on CleanROM?
Why does it matter? Bragging rights, or pissing contest?
Actually the score doesn't really matter but I've noticed a slowdown after flashing CleanROM.
Haven't noticed any lag at all.
Have you benchmarked quadrant? Also, the slowdown is more noticeable when scrolling menus and some heavy designed websites.
I don't know why people bother with Quadrant, it doesn't work correctly on dual-core phones anyway.
Actually don't really bother on it. But, as I said started to be doubtful of some lags compared to the stock rom and I used quadrant just to create an idea if this was really the case.
By the way. Ver 2.0 is optimized for multicore phones.

Use Antutu.
Tryied Antutu and got 3387. Checked a bit around and found that a score of 5000-6000 should be normal.
Ok, rerun antutu after restarting the phone and got around 6200. What really bothers me is that even after killing all task and running any benchmark, I notice that scores are usually noticeable lower than on a first run after restarting. And more important, the phone is slower. Seems like services are still running and using available resources.
I use Advanced Task Killer by the way.

Don't ever, ever, ever use task killers on anything past Froyo.
They harm the phone and do not do anything, it's all placebo that it does.
There's countless threads about it.
Delete it.

Imo the only benches I care about are GPU benches. Quadrant is utter garbage, remove it and do yourself a favor. Nenamark 1 / Nenamark 2 for GPU benching is nice.
well, scrosler puts fastboot in his rom, which kills all running tasks that are not core.
Myself, I'll occasional open System panel app if the phone is acting up. Very occasionally.
On cleanrom I haven't noticed any slowdows.

1800 is a VERY good starting point.... I ran a kernel when I had the International variant and it was FAST!! I think it was called "Bullet" kernel...?

I was looking stuff up on that today. The highest I could find documented was 1900 on the cpu and 800 on the gpu.
For everyday usage, overclocking is useless, even for gaming. Undervolting can be beneficial, but from what I've seen, the latest processors get approximately the same battery life on stock voltage as they do undervolted.

hey thats good to know...like i stated though. if there ever was a phone that needed over clock this one IS NOT it. i cant bog it down right now and believe me ive tried. someone out there might can but i cant.

I just like to play around with different kernels but the kernel I was using def made the device snappier and I had some killer benchmarks! But you are right though! Custom kernels on this device is not really necessary...
I plan on building a custom kernel then, hopefully tomorrow night or possibly Saturday. I do have some plans to improve it, but nothing related to the CPU or GPU going faster, just having other stuff operate better and getting rid of anything not needed.

I hope I don't get another lemon CPU... my TBolt's would only overclock to 1.4G, anything above and it locked up.

That's better than me. I could run 1200 for weeks but at 1400 about every other day it would restart randomly.

HA. My TBolt stayed stable at 1200, but ANYTHING higher than that and it would crap out on me.
I could run my bolt stable at 1700 all day. Kept it at 14 for a month no issues. Stayed at 13 the rest of the time. Course at 17 it was like it was running on a watch battery with the amount of time it would last. Lol
Eh I ran 1.6Ghz on my Thunderbolt 24/7 and with the 2750mah battery it lasted me days.
On a phone like that there was a significant improvement to the end user that justified the overclock. Now on the Note 2 I'd expect there to be very few who would want an overclock at all. I am part of the very few however. I play a lot of emulators on my phone and for N64 and Playstation I need all the raw CPU power I can get. Yep, even on this beast of a phone I still get some lag and stuttering on those emulators. The reason being is the same as PC gaming. AMD thinks that by adding more and more cores to their processors they can win the performance arena. Unfortunately they are wrong. Intel has the right idea, 4 cores is plenty now let's improve the efficiency and performance of those specific cores.
Same goes for our phones. Quad core is the most I'd ever want in my computers, anymore is just a waste. Now let's get better architecture for the processor to maximize clock-for-clock performance. And overclocking those cores helps it in apps that don't support more than one or two cores, because the baseline performance for each core is boosted.
So yeah, can't wait for a 1.8Ghz kernel
I'm on my my second sghi777, on my first phone I never had a problem overclocking as high as 1600mhz on cm7. Now on my new phone I can't seem to overclock past 1400mhz without freezing issues, I have been using ics and jb roms but other than that there the same phones. Anyone have any insight to why I'm having issues? I'm currently using jellybam with siyah 4.3.3
All phones are different. All within limits but still different.
I run mine at 800mhz daily, and i see absolutely no reduction in performance. It's really unnecessary to overclock that high. It will run even slower due to how much hotter it gets. The only difference you'll see is in benchmark scores.
