I'm trying to figure what rom to use. I can't really seem to decide which is faster. Is there another rom that you guys think is stable and very fast?

Try both and see which one you prefer.
I like Fusion since it has almost gotten rid off the touchwiz crap.
right now i am running this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773018
it is a great ROM, and it flies. i do not have any lag fix installed and i have absolutely no lag at all. and touchwiz is completely removed
I was loving Bionix 1.9 but I Odin-ed back to Stock JI6 because I think Froyo is coming out soon. It was released internationally last week and the Captivate already has it.
I am sure Fusion is very nice but I got sick of flashing new ROMS every other day. Just my 2 cents.

this is my first ROM and i am running Bionix 1.9.1 for a few days now. stable so far, works as advertised. i am running bionix191_JACS_OCUV_VOODOO and i have also installed SetCPU. if you decide to go with it please make sure you take a look at this before you do anything: https://sites.google.com/site/projec...allation-guide. if you follow the guide you should have no probs.
i have noticed battery life improvement after installing 1.9.1 and reconditioning battery, it has been unplugged since about 7:30am and after 3 calls one lasting 40mins while on blue tooth and constant work e-mails i am sitting at 63% at the time of writing this. so in 8 hours i have dropped 37% its a big improvement from before.
just my experience

It really comes down to preference. Is there a speed difference from 1.9.1 to Fusion 1.0? Most users think that Fusion is faster, but I came from 1.8 so I can't comment on it. Fusion is awesome. If you don't mind TWiz than go with 1.9.1, however, if you're like me and can't stand TWiz, go with Fusion 1.0. It is amazing.

You will likely be waiting for awhile. Froyo hasn't even been mentioned for the Vibrant yet. The Source code was released for 2.2 but that is a far cry from a working fully functional ROM. You do realize you don't have to keep flashing the most current ROM they release right?

Yeah I was going Flash crazy and I must admit it is addictive LOL. Anyway, every Bionic ROM was slightly different, for example one had JI2 modem for better battery and the next one had JI6 for better data. I had to see for myself which one was best for me. Eventually I decided to go back to stock with the latest official JI6 OTA update to receive the Froyo OTA .

Hey there, don't get your panties in a bunch.. That ROM actually didn't fully remove touchwiz like you claim. There are some things that are still touchwiz there like twframework-res
But if your choice is Fusion or Bionix.. go with fusion
I've tried both... Go with Fusion if you don't use the TW launcher. If you are unsure about LP, its very cool.
I am running 1. 9 and I love it so far but I do miss cm5 on my mytouch slide :-( I hope it does work out for cm6 on the vibrant.

^ Eugene makes a very solid ROM and is usually slightly ahead of the other DEV's here. (I.E.- He has released (I believe) 3 builds of Froyo so far) where most other DEV's are just getting started on Froyo. Most DEV's use Eugene's work as a base for their own ROM's. I started with Eugene's ROM and have since moved to Bionix out of sheer personal preference. I like the look and feel of the Bionix ROM's more than I like Eugene's.
That being said, when he gets the GPS fixed on his most recent Froyo ROM, I may just have to flash it up to see how I like it
I think he got gps working on his newest 2.2 rom. I could be wrong though. I'm going to give that a run tonight
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I haven't tried either yet - still in OCD research phase before trying anything new and scary like a custom ROM ...
That said, I'm leaning toward Bionix. I understand the difference between the two is effectively whether you prefer Touchwiz and LauncherPro. They're both otherwise on relatively equal footing.
I've tried LP with homeswitcher and honestly it's nifty but it's niftiness couldn't outweight my familiarity with Touchwiz. This vibrant is my first android phone so that probably speaks volumes as to why I had no previous conceptions of what the UI ought to behave like...
I'd suggest to the OP to also just try out LP with homeswitcher prior to flashing a ROM and you can easily see for yourself which format tickles your pickle more.
Any touchwiz froyo roms that work good and improve performance? I am one of the few that really likes the touchwiz theme on samsung but would like to upgrade to Froyo.
Nero v5 TW Edition
If you want TWiz, then why not go with the latest Samsung froyo leak - KA5? I am using it and its snappy, fast, and bug-free as far as I can tell.

Agreed. Stock KA5 froyo is much better than the stock eclair. Even without a lag fix, it's snappy and responsive. If you don't need the full custom rom experience and like touchwiz, it's a good one.
This is probably close to the official OTA - if samsung ever gets around to releasing it.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm also running the stock KA5 but I added the voodoo kernel on top of it.
It's been great so far. I had one issue where the phone wouldn't lock but a reboot fixed that and it's only happened once in 5 days.
All the lockups and crashes my phone was having before are all gone. Plus battery life seems to be better.
I came from stock JI6 with OCLF.
Also, it was pretty easy to do with ODIN and I kept all my apps and data.

Thanks. I used it to upgrade a friend's Vibrant. I use Axura myself but both of my friends who has a Samsung Vibrant is tired of waiting on the Froyo upgrade and finally broke down and asked me to help them out. They however just wanted the stock so that is what they got.
+1 for Nero 5. Have never had one FC with this rom. Flawless.

There's a plethora of roms out now on gingerbread and I was just curious about what you guys think is your favorite GB rom.
Which one do you think has the best battery life with good performance too?
Least bugs?
Simply Honey 5.0 w/ 1.2 Bullet kernel. Badass Rom \m/
Simply Honey 5.0 or MIUI revamped

how much battery life do you get with that? I might try it out if it gets over like 15 of moderate use. I need to have my phone last at least that much to call my carpool after a workday.
I cant stand the jvp,q,r roms, i only do gb with cm7 roms cause ive tried samsung roms and they were all laggy and unstable and not even that much faster than froyo... cm7 got rid of all those issues....

Miui fan here, tried a few others but the stability and eye candy of Miui keeps me coming back. Battery life is so/so depends on your 3g usage, I don't OC/UV so i use miui stock, not revamped.
Simply Honey 5.0 !
Biffmod 1.3. Fast Rom with great battery life. Nothing flashy. Just my cup of tea.

I want to try this rom, but I am having troubles installing it.
I've tried "via sd card" in CWM. No luck.
I've tried via ODIN and can't find the 512pit (maybe it was 512tar) file to flash (it's on my desktop).
Is there an install guide for noobs somewhere?

Could someone put together a stock ED05 froyo rom. Please!!!
I want to put it on my wife's phone and she is used to the stock rom, I have tried other roms bit I'm tired of her complaining about this and that. I just need it dodexed, debloated, and rooted. So I can put an accurate battery on it and restore with titainum.
Thanks in advance.
Edit:
I suppose I could debloat it myself.

I would suggest GeeWiz which is very close to a stock debloated/deodexed and it already has an accurate battery built in.

I just rooted my phone and I'm anxious to put a good solid ROM on here.
Since upgrading to stock ICS from gingerbread (pre root), I've had nothing but problems, so I'm hoping a custom ROM cam solve this. My gps and notification sounds don't work, and the battery life has gone down the tubes.
I basically looking for a great stock gingerbread rom, or a stable ICS ROM that can provide me with the original stability and functionality this phone once provided. Suggestions? I am currently using the 3.0.35-siyah v3.4.2 nomswap+ktoonsez kernel.
Thanks everyone!

Believe me, I'd love to go from ROM to ROM, but I'm a bit busy (grad student) and I cant say I enjoy hacking my phone...the whole process freaks me out. Just doing this out of necessity so I don't need to go back to that stupid iphone. Looking for suggestions from people's experience. I hear AOKP 7.1 is really good with battery and GPS, but I alo hear the kernel is what determines battery. Truth on both fronts?

If you're looking to replace stock gingerbread, then as 122ninjas said I would recommend going with ShoStock2. It's my daily driver. If you go with AOKP or another AOSP type ROM, You'll have to find substitutes for all the touchwiz -based applications that you're used to.

I could say the same thing for PhoneBricker even though it is no longer supported. Point is, as you know ninja, ROMS and kernels play differently on each phone. Also, each gives a unique user experience.
OP, flashing correctly takes about 10-15 minutes not including download time. So, not having time doesn't work as a reason. Not being rude. It's easy to do while you're:
Taking shower
Using the restroom
Washing the dishes
While you're surfing FB on your laptop/PC

Nice, Ill give shostock a go today. Gotta admit, the AOKP Jb stuff looks awesome with all the customizable options, but I feel with more bells and whistles comes more issues. I assume JB ROMS aren't going to be as stable.

No offense taken! I think my trepidation comes more from my experience with this phone....I did that official ICS update and it ruined my phone. Got a new one, and a ton of bugs made me frustrated. Once you start flashing stuff with CWM the deepest trouble I have been in is needing a factory reset. But if you are really scared then go ahead and download all the return to stock + root files and mobile odin and stuff. I just did that in case of emergencies.

Takes that long for the ROM to flash. Then add kernel cleaner and Gapps. Then reboot + re-optimization... Taking closer to 10 minutes. Add a few more minutes and you've got a great estimate of 10-15. EVERYONE has 10-15 minutes in their day to flash a ROM considering it's hands off once you press "go". See my examples.
The post above this has a great tip for anyone who wants to be prepared for the worst.
