[Q] The battery will not charge from Usb! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've installed cMiui on my Samsung Galasy SII and i noticed that plugging the usb cable to the computer the phone starts the animation of the battery but it does not charge.. i have changed kernel with siyah and finally I did a wipe-battery but nothing has changed..
Charging with adapter is OK, but i need however I would charge it with the usb..
help me, thanks

In ExTweaks in Misc card you'll see charging voltages. Change all values to 650 mA (each USB port has 1000 mA so it isn't risky).

Thanks for reply.
Today i test this setting.. I hope to resolve
However, it seems strange .. The default setting should be 450mA like now?
Before with stock formware the battery is always charged me via usb

Solved
Thanks przemcio510..
I solved with your setting!
Now charging via Usb it's fine :good:

Phone charges with only 96mA

Hi,
My phone charges extremely slow when connected with USB to my MBP.
I checked with the OS X tool "USB Prober" and it says 96mA, checking my old iPhone it shows the correct 500mA.
What might cause this, and how may i fix it?

No one knows?
At what power-level was your phone when plugged in? Because when it was already in the 90's, it charges slowly since the LiIon charge cycle is meant to work that way.
Oh, that might be a very good point. I will let the battery drain a bit before i plug it in the next time.
It seems to draw 96mA still, even if the battery was down to 75 %.
This would mean, your phone needs about 19,8 hour to load to 100 % from 0%. (1900/96)
It is correkt ?
When connected to USB it definitely sounds correct, it takes extremely long time to just move one percentage up. Even when the phone is not in use, and the display is off.
19.8 hours should mean 5 % an hour, and that sounds very correct.
Do you have also the problem, if you charge via a AC adapter ?
While I had it I found out that if you take a car charger or a usb cable and solder the two inside pins together (the data lines) it tells Android you are on a wall charger and charges at the higher rate.
If you use a special usb charger cabel, it should work
Using the AC adapter it charges normally.
I will see if i can mod one of my cables to short the data lines.
Thank you
Are the SGS II enumerated properly, that is the USB drivers are loaded so you can browse the SD card or connect with Kies or similar? Before a USB device is allowed to draw more than 100mA it has to negotiate this with the host. And the USB port has to be capable of delivering 500mA but since your iPhone shows 500mA this should be ok.
I think so, yes. If i chose to mount the SD cards i can fine browse them and upload files etc.
I can also use ADB when connected.

Same situation here...
The phone negotiates only 96mA with my Win7 PC; other devices, on the same PC, negotiate 500mA and the phone charges fast with wall charger.
Does anybody know hot to bring my phone to 500mA on PC?

If you dont mind flashing a kernel try dori or gustavo's. The app where you set the kernel level params, e.g. synapse or stweaks, has an option where you can set the current the phone can draw from a usb connection. By default its 500 ma only.
Btw,did you see the same results with different usb cables/ports/pc?

Fast USB Charging Speed with Stock Kernel

Hi there,
In speedmod kernel there is fast USB charging speed to same speed as AC charge feature.
I want to ask is it possible to enable fast USB charging speed in stock kernel/CF-Root? Maybe CWM flashable script?
Thank you.

even the fast USB charge mode cannot match ur AC charge speed ma8
the mode just ensures that when u connect 2 the computer the mass storage is disabled and ur phone will only charge no data transfer happens

I don't think so. I can still copy data to USB when USB charging in speedmod kennel. It is only related with the charging voltage modification.

[Q] How to make wall charger charge as AC instead of USB

I bought this wall charger from Amazon and when I charge my phone with it, it shows up as charging via USB instead of AC which means it'll be pulling 450 mA instead of 650 mA. Is there any way to make it detect the wall charger properly?
Voltage is controlled mainly by charger, not phone, so I think your phone charges with 600 mA.
But if you charge with lower voltage, your battery will live longer.
I believe you have to short the middle two data leads.

The only way to do that is by increasing USB charging current to 650mA.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
LoL ! I have official wall charger which i got with my Galaxy s2 and my phone detect it as USB btw it happens on a custom rom that i am using.
I used ex tweak app from play store ( Works only with siyah kernal) and set usb to 650 mAh
Like I said, short the two data points.

Battery charging problem

Hello friends... I noticed the battery charging problem with strange way in my galaxy s3. I'm running android 4.3 cm based custom rom with googy kernel. My charger does not charge correctly as it was doing. I'm using stock charger with stock cable & was working well but now i noticed since 3 to 4 days, whenever i plug the charger it shows the running charging indicator but it won't going up the percentage for long time. For example. if the battery percent is 20% then it shows the opposite response in descending order like 20%, 19%, 18% like this. Very strange issue. As it should charge the device upword like 20%, 21%, 22%. If i unplug the charger & then plug the charger again then sometime it starts charging correctly in ascending order as i was running well. I checked with another cable but the problem still same. It solve the problem with plug & unplug the charger then can charge the device with normall. Plz help to find & solve the problem. Sorry for the bad english. Thanx
Goi back to stock rom, see if problem still exists. If it does then your kernel or rom is the cause, bugs are to be expected in early releases.

If it is the cause of early releases or kernel then after the unplug & plug the charger why it starts charging well? I mean if its sure it is cause of kernel & roms then why sometimes the problem sovled after unplug or plug. Well i will change the rom to 4.2.2 which i was running & will check the issue again.
try to change the usb cable
that's work for me!
and maybe works for you

Use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free
Monitor the MAX value (others do not matter).
Check with your charger what the MAX value reports. Also test on Computer. If you have 2 cables (which I assume is the case) test both on PC and Both in wall socket

Sir i checked with stock cable in waal socket max value got- 1000, on the other hand I got 300 max value on pc.
Another cable MAx value in wall socket is- 400
On pc max value is - 300
Ok so with wall socket + stock cable, charging should be normal (1000 is normal). If it still charges slow, you're experiencing drain

i checked again to determine the problem clearly & noticed that whenever i properly insert the cable to mobile's usb port after unplug & plug then it starts charging well & good speed. I wonder if it is the problem with usb jack or cable's usb. After all what you think ?

I noticed same problem with my phone some time ago.
i used powerbank recently and it started not charging.. when i charge and use phone, battery is discharged. i thought the batteries inside powerbank are old. changed.. but sometimes charged, sometimes not or very slow. then i noticed that problem persist when i charge phone at home too. i unplugged and plugged cable, then chargin was normal..
My friend has problem with cable some time ago too..
I hope it it problem of cable, not phone...
You've eliminated the charger as the cause so now only remains the software or the charging IC in the phone.
As per my my original suggestion, flash a stock ROM (not a leak or beta -flash the offical 4.1.2 for your country) to test. If the problem still remains then your phone needs a new motherboard.
I had been having the same problems when I installed CM 4.3. I have gone back to the stock rom that came with the phone and the problems have gone.
Is this cause of of higher value of charging with fast charging kernel support? Bcoz i had charged the device for some time with 1300MA value.
The link below with MickyFoley's tip was the solution for me, now everything works fine again after a lot of struggle...

no, they are one-piece wall chargers.
and with time milliamperes decrease to 300 ma with all the chargers

If there are 3 cables, there only rests the socket of your phone or (unlikely) its charging-control. Otherwise: try another cable.
They are without cable.. Samsung travel adapter without usb..
You think the problem is with charger ?
Sorry, I didn't understand. No, it's very unlikely that 3 loaders fail. I supppose it's the socket of your phone or the internal hardware. So let it repair.
