[solved] Stuck on boot screen. Help! - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Edit: This was solved by reflashing cf-root, which restored both recovery and cache to safe versions. Now I need to boot into recovery with Home+VolumeUp+Power and restore a backup.
I was flashing and testing new versions of clockwork recovery (using Heimdall, not Odin). Now the phone is stuck on the boot screen (it doesn't play the audio or get to the boot animation). I can still boot into download mode, but I can't boot to recovery. I've flashed other versions of recovery, including versions that I know are good. I've pulled the battery. What can I do to get my phone back? I don't think I've done anything besides back up the system and flash a new recovery image!
Anybody know what to do? Next thing I can think of is flashing CF-root again, but that seems dangerous if there might be a better way.
Thanks!

[Q] Recovery img flashing (Stock 2.1 rom)

Hi,
Due to HTC's special touches, the recovery image doesnt stay flashed, and on normal boot its flashed over (meaning if i try to go to recovery after a normal boot, i get the red triangle stuff, and have to pull the battery). I was wondering if this would potentially cause troubles if i was trying to flash a custom ROM from recovery? in other notes, i do find sometimes i have to pull the battery 4 or 5 times to get it to normally boot (thats without holding the buttons >.>).
Thanks in advance.
HTC HERO recovery image flashing problems
I am having exactly the same problem!
I did a quite a bit of research on how to root, backup and flash my HERO and every guide I found describes the process using Universal AndRoot + Rom Manager and it seems there should be no problems. I already rooted my phone successfully, installed Rom Manager and flashed either ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1 or RA Recovery 1.7.0.1 which are able to boot but only once. The next time I reboot I get the red triangle warning and it loads into stock recovery (by pressing vol_up + powroff buttons), so the custom recovery lasts only one boot cycle. I was able to backup but I don't want to risk to wipe and flash since there is a chance it might stuck in the bootscreen loop afterwards and I won't be able to do anything.
There is a thing with s-off and SPrecovery which helps to resolve the problem but it doesn't look like there is anything for HERO.
Any help would be appreciated.
ps I tried to manually flash recovery from inside the phone and from windows command line with the same result.
forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/8182-how-to-root-your-hero
posted some similar comments over there, and the only init script that i can find when in recovery.
Yeah I posted my question there too.
I was able to find some information about the issue (he is talking about Villain ROM but I think it doesn't really matter):
pulser_g2:
Repeat the process again, as I think stock ROMs try and overwrite the recovery each time they boot. When you finish the process, immediately nandroid and flash VR12. That will then flash a new recovery, AmonRA 1.6.2a, and you will be sorted

So it looks like we should just go ahead and flash a custom rom which, in theory, will eliminate the problem.
yeah was tempted to just flash, but sending duck my system img for him to dissect anyway.
yeah worked fine, running cm6.1 now
Yeah once you root you have to flash a custom rom before reboot or u loose the root
I learnt it after lots of reboots and re roots.
but now I wanted to know if I could save the original rom which i have as nand backup to make as an update.zip like custom rom for safe keepimg
I flashed CM6.1 -based TastyFroyo 1.2 and I can confirm custom recovery stays flashed now.

Recovery Loop

i had cwm 2.5 and needed to upgrade to 3 for a rom i wanted to try. i used odin to flash cmw 3.0.0.8.
but upon reboot after the flash i ended up in the stock samsung recovery. and now all boots goto this recovery, cannot boot to the rom anymore. so i flashed back to cmw 2.5 and same thing, stuck in this recovery boot loop.
anyone know how to solver this issue? thanks!
i found if i disabled voodoo while in cwm 2.5, i was able to flash an image back on. and the recovery boot loop went away.

Bootloop into recovery and recovery won't load

So I was trying to downgrade twrp since it was showing my data partition size incorrectly. I flashed a 2.6 version, went into kk killer then select reboot into recovery. I guess the flash either failed or that version isn't supported.
Anyway, I am stuck in a bootloop where the phone is trying to boot into recovery and it won't load recovery. Is this thing bricked? It would probably boot into the rom, but I can't stop it from trying to boot into recovery.
I did search and couldn't find anything useful about a recovery bootloop.
:: Delete this thread... found out how to get into odin. Gotta be quick after a battery pull.

[Q] recovery boot looping

Selling my galaxy S4 which is running cm12.1 rom and the guy who bought it wants me to keep it on cm and keep the bootloader on the mdk build.
for some reason i thought it would be a good idea to go into the phone, go to backup and recovery area and do a factory reset. the phone rebooted, and now its just looping at the TWRP screen. it just flashes it every few seconds, doesn't seem to be rebooting the phone, just recovery. if i pull the battery and throw it back in, phone will try and boot back into recovery and I have the same issue.
is there a way to reflash TWRP via odin? or even clockwork mod? just need something to get into recovery with or how else can i fix this? I really want to avoid doing an odin flash back to stock MDK, then rerooting and then reflashing a cm12.1 rom.

[SM-G925V] Boot Loop without recovery, only download mode

From everything I have been seeing and reading there is no custom recovery for the Verizon brand of the edge 6. I have been searching high and low and I can't find the stock recovery to load into it. I can only get into the download mode. I tried to reload stock firmware for my model and just keep getting the boot loop. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
I have tried to download a new set of recovery firmware but it still gets stuck in the boot loop. It seems like the phone will not boot until the recovery is fixed.

When flashing the stock firmware, part of the flashing process is to flash the stock recovery. So when you flash stock firmware does it pass in Odin?
