Unlocking HTC EVO 3D (SPRINT) CDMA. - HTC EVO 3D

Hi All,
I recently purchased HTC evo 3d sprint cdma phone from US and brought to India. The seller told me that it is unlocked and rooted etc. But now it is not showing any networks here in India.
How will I check whether the phone is actually unlocked for use with any networks?
Can I unlock the phone from sprint?
I have unlocked the bootloader today. But no Idea about carrier unlocking.
Thanks in advance.
Eldhose Paul

Wrong section, plus isn't this kinda thing against the XDA rules?

@Op, I've moved your post here to HTC Evo 3D section questions & answers.
Chef Central is about developing apps and rom cooking.
Please use the correct section next time, thank you!

CDMA phones like from Sprint do not need and cannot be locked or unlocked (network wise). You need to register esn with your carrier (not illegal). If they will not let you, you'll have to change the esn (not sure of your local law about this, but illegal in the USA)

Thanks for the information. I will check with the local network operators.

What can I do with a rooted phone?

So I want to root my EVO3D. Once I've gone through the process and completed it, what can I do with my rooted phone?

well having a rooted phone allows you to post in the proper section
this belongs in the Q and A section
but in all seriousness it basically unlocks your phone and allows for complete ownership over the product without being locked down by carrier or manufacturer

Normally I'd refrain from this type of behavior but..
Obvious troll is Obvious.
Why come here asking about what you can do with a rooted phone when you've got experience flashing CM7 to your CDMA hero? The "EVO 3D CDMA Development" Sub forum is for ROM/Kernel releases not Q&A. There's a specific Q&A Section where this question has been asked in this thread and answered Here in post # 2.
you can brick it, I wouldn't root for the life of me.
Now that I actually realize what I asked, I'm appalled. I post this again in the correct section, actually asking a real question... at least as real a question as my mind can currently come up with. My defense is that it's 2:30 in the morning. Anyway, I asked one of the moderators to delete this so please head over to the Q/A section.

[Q] Will the HTC EVO V 4G get it's on forum?

Just curious if this phone will get it's own forum or will it stay under the 3D forum? I figured since it was on HBOOT 1.57 and the older phone has 1.5 or 1.4, there would be some difference in dev work. Just wondering is all. Thanks to everyone here that has answered my questions btw!

As far as I know, the cdma ROMs and such will work on the vm version. Having said that, it would be nice to have a separate forum to make answering questions easier. The mix of cdma and gsm in the Q&A forum makes answering questions difficult.

I agree with you coal686. I notice most of these roms are also for Sprint and it confuses people that have VM. It's overwhelming coming from a Motorola Triumph with a few good roms, to all these HTC roms! There's alot of them! Seems MMS is the biggest issue when installing it on the EVO V 4G. I think it's because of a VM way of handling MMS.
Thanks.
I would like to see the EVO V 4G get its own section as well. It's just a footnote in the EVO 3D forum right now and I'm having to do a lot of sifting to find stuff relevant to my device.
I would be interested in a forum as well
im thinking about getting this phone is it worth moving from a samsung galaxy s does it overheat much when heavy gaming the galaxy heats up a bit
I would say it should get it's own subforum. Much to hard to find posts relevant to this phone.

Agreed, I think as the Evo V community grows we will eventually see our own subforum.
It'd be really nice if they could make one, because I just got this phone, and the mix between relevant and irrelevant info is sorta fustrating.
The Sony Xperia Ion has its own section...what a lemon it's turned out to be.

To be honest, most people searching for help won't know the difference between GSM and CDMA, which will cause even more wrong section posts.
I don't think the EVO V needs a subforum since it's essentially a CDMA and can run it's ROMs, correct me if I'm wrong.
1+
And not necessarily, everything that works on the 3D doesn't always work on the V 4G... (see mainly, MMS/SMS and data)

If not its own forum, at least give it a sub forum thingy. Like how there's a CDMA and a GSM forum.

Me also; Ditto; Agree; +1
My Evo v 4G arrives today. The community is growing. It may be time for a sub-forum, specific to our device, which clearly has some ownership and interest behind it
a sub-forum ~
Please a sub-forum. Evo V is a strong device and will definitely stick around for a while. It deserves a sub-forum on XDA ~ slight changes between Evo V and Evo 3D make their roms not 100 percent compatible. a sub-forum will definitely increase clarity of information.
Anyone who hasn't already can check out the evo v forum at androidforums.com. Everything is geared towards the VM version.

Please stop posting questions in the general forum, kindly post all questions in the Q&A section.
No, the Amaze cannot be flashed to a CDMA network, it's a GSM device.
just ask sprint if they have sim cards

sorry, im new to this.
It's fine, Just make a new thread in the correct forum (Mods don't seem to clean out this forum sadly >.>). It's just that for some reason, the HTC One Trouble shooting forum has gotten the most threads that aren't related to HTC One at all.
