I am wondering if this is a know issue or possibly a bug with CM7. Today I was messing with settings and I turned off the syncing setting. After doing this I got a google voice error. I then turned syncing back on, but still got error. I went to the market and tried to do a update and kept getting the -101 error (which from what I could find is a know error code). To resolve it as explained in the xda forum was to remove google account and sign back into gapps. Well the only way to remove your account is to reformat and start from square one. If this is a known issue, then I guess this post will be good for newbs like me as something not to do EVER. If not maybe it is something that can be resolved by the devs so not to happen. So far this is the only issue I have found, this after setting up 5 NT's for co-workers so I have tested and messed with a lot of setting.
Update: I found that this issue was not caused by disabling syncing on device. Coincendence of time of issue. Issue is caused by basically taking a CWM backup from one NT and restoring to another NT which is essentially a clone copy. When wifi is turned on to both devices is when the error occurs and I am thinking is a naming convention issue. If a resolution is found I will update the post. Thanks go to those that helped me by making me keep testing until I actually found the root issue.

Not allowed --- "This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the setting application, under privacy."
Trust me if it were that easy I would not have posted. Thanks for the response though.
if the above mentioned doesn't work just delete accounts.db and reboot
hard reset your phone by settings , privacy options .
then reconfigure your phone .
"if the above mentioned doesn't work just delete accounts.db and reboot"
I tried to to the delete accounts.db method and as soon as I launched market it created the account and the save issue was still present. I still had to do the hard reset and reconfigure as stated below.

That is what I did do. However, the question is, is this a known isssue with all android devices if you disable sync that you have to hard reset your device and reconfigure or is it a glitch with cm7. I have never had a android device before so I can't test it to see if this is just how it is.
Thanks.
Now that I think about it more, if you were trying to delete the only (last?) account on the device it makes sense to make you reset. The first thing you must do when booting up is add an account ... if you want to delete the only account, it makes sense that the device would need to be restored to "out of the box" (so to speak) condition.
Perhaps what one could try is adding a second account, deleting the first, readding the first, and deleting the second (optional).

I did have 2 accounts and it doesn't give you an option when you reformat, it just wipes. Trust me I tried to do anything to avoid having to reset everything. What I didn't understand is after formatting why I could not restore my backup. I tried and same error. I had a backup off another NT I setup for a friend it worked fine. I really don't know I just know that at no point should anyone ever, never ever, turn sync off or you will be spending half the day setting your tablet up again.

Hmm ... why don't you post the exact steps you took. I'm willing to attempt this to see what happens, but I want to know exactly what you did.
Sort of related to this. I changed my Gmail password and now none of the Gapps work on the NT. When I open the Market it asks me to add an account but the window closes. Same thing happens in Gmail.
I installed NT HIdden Settings but I dont see the option to add or change the Google Account.
Any ideas?

Issue now has been duplicated and I know exactly what I did to cause the error. It has nothing to do with changing the sync setting on the device. It was just coincendance that it appeared at that time. I have been setting up multiple devices for friends of mine. A couple of the like how my device was setup so to save time, I loaded cm7 on their device and then using my backup made from cwm I used that to restore to their device and I had a exact clone. I deleted the acounts.db, cleared data setting on market app and rebooted and everything work, until, turning on wifi to both devices. Bam error occurs, which I assume is do to matching naming convention/mac addressing. The funny thing is whatever device is turned on first crashes and the other stays running normally. And you are right deleting accounts.db and clearing data on market worked to restore once I figured out what was happening. The other day I had left the other device wifi on the whole time so every time that I did the delete it would just fail again until I did the reformat. So after saying all this I will ask you (I sent Celtic a PM explaing issue) is there a way to give a somewhat cloned device a unique name so not to cause a conflict. I see under development that there is a device name, but I would not know how to go about changing correctly.
Thanks for the help so far. That is what I guess for trying to take shortcuts when working on so many NT at the same time. I also have a NC that I am also working on. Good experience I guess.
My phone was in the the store, I noticed it was a bit flaky when I attempted to download an app, sometimes it would work, other times not at all.
Yesterday there was 'an issue' with the Google Play store and free apps, if you attempted to send the app from your PC, it appeared to work as usual, however nothing on the phone happened, and if you attempted to download the app from the phone itself you got 'Error Completing Purchase'. A workaround was to clear the cache from a Google service (I forget which one, it did not help), anyway since the apparent 'fix' for there issue, my phone no longer appears on the Google Play Store at all.
I called Google and spoke with a really nice woman, who looked and asked if my phone was rooted, when I answered yes, she advised this is why it is was dropped, apparently Google does some kind of backup check for root users and does not add phones to the store that are rooted, which kind of makes sense, you register your phone when you first get it, and it's obviously not rooted, if you root and flash a custom ROM you again register however this time, Google checks to see if your rooted and does not add a duplicate entry to the Google Store.
Apparently my phone was dropped as part of the 'fix' for the Google Play Store, no idea how many others were dropped. I would have to revert back to stock to get it added back into the store again.
EDIT: I just checked the download page and It shows I am not rooted, which lends to the idea that there is indeed a second hidden root counter in the Galaxy S2.
If this was all common knowledge I apologize but I spent an hour searching for an answer and never found one.

Probably Mystic's.
Call google CSR back and this time, say "no, my phone isn't rooted".
They will provide you all info you need.
that happened to me yesterday, I just re-flashed the rom and it worked again
Well, apparently the Google Person I spoke with took pity on me and re-added my phone because it's there now.
She and I had a long discussion on the topic of rooting, and she is in complete agreement that the manufacturers are in the wrong. I can think of no other industry where a vendor maintains such a level of control over your device that YOU paid for.
Anyway, my phone is now back in the Google Play Store, so I guess this thread can just die.
Oh and LilChris I'm running Phone Bricker, lol. I PMed you yesterday lol.

No problems here, I'm running the rooted LD3 leak. My only problem is the "My Android App" section won't show anything past the letter "G".

Im curious as to why Google has ignored a very important issue..The issue is restoring your android device apps with system settings...I came from Apple and one thing I can say you didnt have to worry about restoring your device and apps and not losing game data etc. It's sad that google has ignored this for so long.Someone would have to require root in order to achieve this.....I was wondering what are your thoughts on this as well...

This is because of the way Android works. System settings change alot of the time from one update to another. So restoring those settings will most likely cause issues as where it is trying to restore to will no longer be valid. Google has also added app data to its back up and restoring and google backup does back up some settings like wifi and a few others. Unless you are using a nexus you cant really lay the blame on Google.

That is also the OEM as ota updates dont wipe the device.
I have an issue that I cannot pinpoint the cause of figure out a solution to. Maybe someone here can help.
My Sprint G3 is always crashing and rebooting the launcher (phone doesn't turn off, just closes evwrything). I'd be in the middle of any app and it will randomly close every single app. The running apps page always displays after every crash. It's as if too much ram is being used, but it will happen even after a fresh phone restart and launching something simple like WhatsApp.
My phone is rooted via the Stump one click method. I don't have any type of rooted mods enabled, only Adfree. I use Nova launcher (paid & updated).
Is there some sort of event viewer that will log the activity of the phone so I probably someone here can see what might be causing the phone to crash? I'm tempted to Unroot and restore back to stock... But if I can avoid that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Maybe it's Adfree then. There's a special version that some people are using. It's in it forum somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.
In the meantime, uninstall it and see if it goes away.

Thanks. I've reverted my adfree hosts file and uninstalled it. But I think the issue persists. If I try to use any app that clears cache, specifically Clean Master, when it's doing the scan of apps it'll crash midway through the scan. If I go to system settings > Apps & wait for all the downloaded apps to load the details, it'll crash there too.
This is the oddest thing.
Edit:
This visual may help. It's a video of me running Clean Master & seeing how it just crashes. I can replicate this issue every time like this, but the crashes are random when using other apps.

Ok, so I began uninstalling some apps that I thought may have been the issue... Which they weren't as the crashing still continues. I decided to reboot under safe mode and the problem occurs there too.
I honestly cannot recall if this began before or after rooting with stump. I may have to Unroot & factory restore. =/

I'm at a loss... The 2 things I mentioned can be the culprits, but not for you I guess. Some other ideas?
Did you uninstall Stump after getting root?
Have you froze or uninstalled any system apps/ priv-apps?
It might even be Nova is having issues.
That's all I got.

Tried to unroot but the phone doesn't move past the "Firmware Update. Do not unplug the phone..." screen after holding Volume Up & plugging into the computer. I installed the drivers before hand. But the "CDC Serial" doesn't update. I attempted to manually update the driver by browsing for the folder, but no go.
I may end up having to go to Sprint and exchange the phone for another one.

TL;DR version = Yes, I did fix it. Factory restore did the trick.
A few days after my last post the phone wasn't as bad as the video. It would still crash and reset but mainly after heavy app usage or when trying to clear app cache using any app like Clean Master.
Once my storage reached about 40% used and I couldn't clear the cache, I began to get constant Play Store error messages. No apps would update. I think it was error 483 or something close to hat number.
Since I couldn't flash back to stock because the drivers wouldn't install, I gave up and tried a factory reset. I nearly sh-t myself bc once I confirmed the restore, the phone didn't want to automatically reset per the instructions. I pressed the button multiple times and nothing. I pulled the battery and when I turned it back on, I got the initial screen with the "powered by android" and then black. It did not wanna do anything. Pulled battery again, same outcome. It left it for maybe 10min and still nothing.
I was ready to go back to sprint and see if I could exchange the phone. While researching the closest store, the phone beeped and the initial android setup screen appeared. This was about 25min of waiting on a black screen.
The phone is now back to working order and it's still rooted. There must have been a corrupt file that was erased/restored once the g3 decided to behave.

Congrats!
My G3 is crashing in the similar manner as the video you uploaded.
Except that it only happens when I'm in office connected to office wifi with almost no cellular reception.
On top of that, as far as I could tell... only two apps are causing the launcher to crash... the game Clash of Clans and LINE.
Very very strange....
Is there any kind that actually works? I keep fishing around on Google play and everything is either old, doesn't work, or is full of sh*t, or a combination of all 3.
Welcome to XDA
If you're running Android 9 or higher simply do a factory reset. There are no known rootkits that can worm out of the user partition, once that data is wiped so is the malware.
Don't reload it again after the factory reset.

Which would be how? Would I need a app or something for the pc? And if so do you have any recommendations? I have the mixsilver file manager on my phone (pixel 6 "Not pro"). Would there be a way I could find it thru there? Also my device is not rooted. So would I need to root? I'm sorry if this gets on your nerves. If so tell me, won't hurt my feelings. I'm literally a noob at this stuff. I've been trying to teach myself and just do trial and error but im getting in over my head and don't wanna accidentally brick my phone or worse.

With Avast or AVG Antivirus you can do a pretty good scan of your apps, even system apps if you want.
For Factory reset see here https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/4596836
or go here on a PC (you need your Pixel connected by usb to the PC then): https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection

Chrome ****tin out 3 gigs of data a day. I have unlimited so it's not that big of a deal but still.....and some of the options I had in settings like "permissions, enable/disable, clear data/cache" that I know for a fact I had not too long ago are now greyed out or nonexistent. Also sometimes when I bring up "location" thru the settings menu everything is supposed to be "off" but there's 2 or 3 that look like they are switching back to say "off" as soon as the page shows. 1 of them outright takes several seconds to display any "on or off" setting at all. I've found a "Verizon" system app on my phone, some kind of Samsung telephony thing. And it seems like I can input a change to settings or something and when I look at my phone in the morning everything I had set up is back to it's previous settings.

For what it's worth, the Verizon system app comes with the phone in case you use a Verizon sim.
If you end up clean flashing or factory resetting, I would not restore any apps from backups. I would reinstall everything fresh or you could just be putting the malware back on your phone, if that indeed is what you have.

Just redownload them. Google remembers your bought apps or subscriptions in your Google account, so as long as you use the same email/account for logging in to Playstore after Factory reset you're good.
Your contacts normally are also synced to your Google Account, so you get them back also then.
