First of all if this is in the wrong section I'm sorry.
Today I was tethering through tether app in flex's rom my phone and I got an incoming phone call. I wanswered but noticed the data was still working on my computer and I did numerous trials all confirmed working. So here's the question...is this a feature we just didn't know about that can indeed be unlocked by our talented devs here. Try it you'll see

That's called svdo and this phone supports it. Even stock.
Very sorry buddy but this is old news.
It's SVDO. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653145

The LG Viper has this as well, as will other new Sprint Android phones.
Lol wow I had no idea. Looked like a fool but love my phone even more now!!! Guess mods can close this.

Will the EVO 3D work if not activated from sprint, I'VE heard it will but I am curious to this fact, also if I can get passed the setup because I live in Canada.

I used mine for almost a day (used wifi only) before I caved in and activated it online. There are quite a few who are doing as you said ..work the phone without activation. As for being in Canada .. can't help you on that problem.

I like your picture of a cat with a helmet.
See because I hate cats (sorry I have my reasons) and to me, a cat with a helmet means I can kick it out of my way and not really 'harm' it because it has protection on it.
Im JK but I do hate cats still.

I don't want to use the phone, I just want to use the features since the nexus s is my main phone to make calls and I plan to tether my nexus to my HTC EVO 3D so I can access all of the internet features.

On setup, just hit back when you get to the first back button...if that does not work...starting in a clockwise fashion...touch the corners of the screen with the top left first then hit the android..this also bypasses the setup feature. It's been a while since I did this..so you might verify doing a google search.
Yes you'll be able to use apps and all that without activating it. Obviously you won't be able to make phone calls. Most android phones don't need activation to get into the OS.
I've tried searching but haven't quite got a concrete answer but is it possible to flash the 3D to Verizon?

As far as I know not the Sprint Version as far as the gsm Evo 3d I don't know. The radio's don't work and I don't think even if they did Verizon would allow it like the little guys do (coughs boost cough) Even so the Boost network is Sprint's that they pay to use. I do know that Verizon PRL works on our phone but it counts as roaming and sprint will give you the boot for using it too much. I only use it when I visit my father as it's the only way I can get a signal and use it SPARINGLY until the wife and I drive home.
No, you can not.

I think technically speaking, the CDMA EVO 3D will operate on Verizon's 3G frequencies. WiMAX will not work through a Verizon account.
In order to get the device to operate mainly on Verizon and be registered to a Verizon account would be another story and process .. not sure Verizon would support or faciliate this process, let alone allow.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will jus get a new phone lol =)

No worries, if you're getting a new phone w/ Verizon I'd say sell your Evo3D for about 250-300 on ebay/craigslist and then wait for the Galaxy Nexus.
Or the Rezound.
Or the RAZR.
Some nice phones are comin' out on VZW this coming quarter...
AND they just updated their data tier plans; doubled every plan's data for the same amount of moolah.
I recently obtained an EVO 3D from Sprint and successfully flashed it to Virgin Mobile. I got SMS and Calling working, but Data keeps cutting off every minute or so. I know its not permitted to talk about ESN changing or cloning, but I would like to know if anyone has gotten their EVO 3D working in Virgin Mobile with data constantly working?
You would think by now when people end their topic with a "?" that it should probably going in the "Q&A"

Moved....By the way if your going to use a ? in your thread title then i would hope you would think that it belongs in the Q&A section
I figured it would get moved, but since most people that answer questions about flashing and mods usually post them in the development section, I figured I would give it a try and post it there. My bad

Thank you, with your suggestion my 3G started working correctly! Also, I don't know if you have actually found a solution to the MMS, but my MMS is working with this ROM Patch, its in another forum, but I'll still post the link just in case. androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/600667-patch-sos-m-vmshooter-mms-patch.html

Yes please. That's would be awesome. Thanks

nice to see another person using an Evo and going with Virgin
i have an Evo 4g and just figured out how to get it connected to CDMA workshop. Was able to get my spc.
The problem with this whole thing is my donor phone had its usb data connection disabled by Virgin prior to shipping, like they do with all their cheap phones. i have the mdn, msid, meid...and as far as esn goes i still dont understand if esn is the same as meid. I dont even see anything in cdma workshop that says mdn or msid or meid
I might be on board too. Damn divorce has got me cutting a lot of corners. What is your actual total monthly payment?
okay im very familiar with android, been runing and messing with it since beta on G1, but on our device is it possible to enable a persistant 3G connection while in a voice call, i know this process is done on all Verizon Android Devices via Build.Prop and other additional tweaks but can it be done on our devices? and can this be done independant of WiFi or WiMAX (Since it will be going the way of iDEN)

Verizon Corporate PRL? Sounds................exclusive. I want it. Haha jk. What's the difference from a regular PRL?
While I was on a call the other day I decided to browse the internet during the call....FAIL
I wondered if there was something wrong with my phone so I tried it on another call after I restarted my phone and still not internet during call. I called T Mobile to ask them about this and they told me that the HTC One does not support that feature.
That just sound crazy to me because I was able to do it with my 2 year old myTouch 4g.
Has anybody else tried or experienced the same?
Does anybody know any information or a fix to this?
I searched around the threads for a while to see if anybody noticed this or made a thread about it but I didn't see anything. If there is other information regarding this please direct me.
Hmmm I can't say about web browsing but I can confirm you can send and receive text while in the phone. I'll try browsing next time I'm on a call.

Is your device a tmobile HTC One? Were you on 4g when you tried to browse while on call? Do you even get 4g service? Browsing while in call requires for you to be in 4g.

Is your device a tmobile device? I seen some thing on the web where people with dev edition or people using att device with tmobile couldn't browse while in call. Is the reason I ask. If you have a dev edition on tmo network, that might be the problem.

UPDATE
Update:
I did a complete shutdown, not restart. Then I powered my phone back on after about 5 mins. I later tried to browse the internet while on the phone and...IT WORKED!!!
I dont know why but Im happy. So if anyone else is having this issue try that.
Sidebar:
I spoke to a Tmobile rep about the issue and he told me that the HTC One does not support on call interenet browsing.....
Cleary he was clueless...smh lol
It has worked fine for me while connected to bluetooth Ford Sync I was able to post comments on Facebook while on the phone in Honolulu on 4G, pretty sure anything other than 4G and wifi it won't work

I believe that what you experienced is just a general, minor Android bug. I've owned numerous devices, and everything from the mytouch 4G, to the Nexus 4, has given me a rare issue where sometimes when I'm making a call, I'll try to load the web, and see that I have no data. In order to regain my data, I'll have to end the call, wait a few moments for the data to fully restore itself, and then I can make the call again and use the web.

I think it is normal for data connection to not work properly right after your phone/IMEI/SIM is first activated with T-Mobile's system..... always takes a reboot.

Glad you got it to work. That rep you talked to was indeed clueless: browsing data while on a call isn't a "feature"; it's how the freaking network works. All GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ networks allow you to do this (in the US, this is tmo/att). CDMA networks work differently and don't allow EVDO use (3G) while on call. I think most verizon phones with LTE do allow you to use LTE and voice at the same time, though it might depend on the exact baseband setup. CDMA, blech.
