Hi people! I have noticed something really strange, today at the same hour geniewidget app (news and weather from google) has stopped loading any content from the server on my two devices. I have tried it on my sister's phone to prove if for any reason it was something related to my google account, and as I thought it wasn't (as far as I know this app has nothing to do with the google account...), and I proved it also over wifi and 2G/3G data. So I think it must be a problem from the server, and there must be more people with the same problem. Does anyone have noticed this? Maybe it's a problem from my country/region (I'm from madrid, spain)... does anyone know the reason for this problem and if it's going to be solved? thanks in advance! cheers
i'm having this issue too, i'm from italy...
same here, UK!!
+1 in the UK on Gnex JB.

Same problem here. Appeared right after I upgraded my Nexus S to Jellybean.
same problem here seems google have broken something there end :crying:
Glad I'm not alone here.
Same issue here.Yes, definitely problem with the server.
Thanks guys!! So if it's a problem from the server lets see if google can solve it soon... cheers!

Well...........not really.
You still cant set the weather manually. You'll have to check the "use my location" box to get the weather working.
And as soon as you've done that, the news changes as well.
i.e;
UK weather, US news....................use to be possible.
As soon as you check the "use my location" box, US news changes also to UK news!!
Hope they'll fix it soon.
it stopped working since google introduced this:

I am incalgary alberta but my prime thinks im in san antonio. my weather widget thinks this, speedtest app thinks this and google maps thinks this.
anyone know what to do to fix this?
and a side question. i know my speedtst ping result will be higher due to the distance to the server, but would my download speed be affected?
Any ideas? Shouldnt it be able to get a fairly accurate result from my wifi/ip address?
I tried connecting through a portable wifi spot i set up on my phone but no change.
Enable GPS and get a fix with it.

I assume your using the default Asus weather widget? If so tap it & seein the settings if the "manual" location is set.

Hi.
I have been using UCCW for a long time now and i cant get it to update the weather when i want... I have manually set my location and each time i want the weather to update i have to go in settings, choose auto-location, then set location manually again, then press back and now it updates.
Anyone know how to fix this? I'm running Omega v40 with stock kernel and have tried with other roms aswell.
Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem but the tempuratre and weather is always wrong. It says it's 84-91 degrees f and raining outside even when it's 45 degrees f and clear and sunny.
I disabled degrees c so it's in degrees f but will just never show the correct information and seems to have problems updating (set to update while phone is off every 15 minutes). Tried going into settings and changing weather providers from yahoo to OpenWeatherMap but nothing happened; disabled auto location, re-enabled auto location, set manual location to my city and state... nothing I try seems to work. Anyone else having this problem?
I'm on Galaxy S3
Model Number: SCH-1535
Android: 4.1.2
I was using OpenWeatherMap as the weather source. Found it stopped updating yesterday. I switched to Yahoo and it worked initially, but now seems to not want to update sometimes as well.
Not sure what the heck is going on yet.

I arrived here from a Google search for "uccw weather not updating."
I am on a stock, UN-rooted Nexus 4. Weather won't budge. I'm not even sure what makes it update when it occasionally does, but it's completely unreliable as a source of weather information, that's for sure.
A fix would be awesome.
Both providers in uccw wont even find my location even if its on yahoo weather website...its just crap (better before)

Seems like when you change the weather from OpenWeatherMap to Yahoo and then back it updates, but after that it doesn't update. Maybe the auto update is broken because it updates manually. I have emailed the developer but he hasn't responded.
Everyone should email this issue to the developer so he is aware of it.

Is there a way to install an older version when the weather was updating and working?

I'm guessing the dev doesn't really give two sh*ts since this has been reported here and on google play and he still hasn't fixed it.
Hopefully I'm wrong and he's fixing it now, but it's been broken for quite a while.

Yeah, you have to change the weather provider back and forth just to get it to update. It's a pain in the butt. I use minimalistic text. Works great.

HI. I have bought Samsung Galaxy S3 a month ago and everything goes really nice. But yesterday i realized that the stock weather widget that it has it gives me wrong location. That was not happened when i bought the phone. I tried everything to fix this but nothing worked. The truth is that I like it very much and i do not want to replace it with something else. Is there a way to fix it???

I don't like to do that!! I hope someone come up with an idea how to fix this!!!
It happens on mine too. It takes me far far away in South Africa. Anyway, all I do is that I disable location services and turn off "show current location" in widget. Then I re-enable location services and turn on current location. It gets me right then.
Having sort of same issues on mine and moms S3 and my Note 10.1.

I had that problem too, couldn't solve it, ended up not using stock widget.
When I enter mh location by hand is ok. It finds it. But I move a lot to one city to another. And I do not want to have this problem because I bought a smartphone that costs 600 euros and I have problems with that!!!! Does anyone knows if samsuns will release an update to fix this??!!!???

At the very first week the widget was given me all the cities. But then it stoped.. when I go to see the map that the widget has it show my location and in the wright street i can say. But it doesn't show me the name of the city. Maybe they are doing some kind of update in the cities. By the way very cool disition for you.. i will give it a try.

Hi!
I'v got a serious problem with the S2 of my wife. She wrote very much notes to the Calender of her S2. The notes are important, because it's about the growing of our little son. Informations like first tooth, first smyle and things like that. My wife made an firmware update using Kies. After that she didn't have the calender app, instead there was the s-planner and no entries at all. All information has gone!
No backup in kies, no other backup. S2 had the original firmware from T-Mobile germany from Oktober 2011. An old Gingerbread I guess.
I searchd the whole files in the phone and found a "calendar.db". I opened this file on windows-pc and found the missing entries, but only the emtries, the text, without any information about the day or time. This information seems to by a kind of cryptet.
So here is my question: is there any chance, to read this cryptical calendar.db, better make it readable on windows PC?
I tried to downgrade the FW to Gingerbread, so I have the calendar app back, searchd for the calendar.db and raplaced it with mine. But wehn I open the calendar the app forcecloses.
Any idea, any helpfull hints?
Thank you,
Michael
Sorry for the english... I do my best.

I guess she didn't sync the calendar with her gmail account?
Yes, that's the major problem. She used the calender with default settings and that means no sync with nothing.

If you had some kind of backup, you could recover. However, as there's nothing to restore, you're boned.
As I wrote above, I have only the calendar.db. But no idea how to extract the information out if it.
Gesendet von meinem SM-N9005 mit Tapatalk 2
Best you can do is root the phone & copy the calendar.db you have over to wherever it lives in the file system & overwrite the obviously empty one that's there at the moment (after you reflashed the firmware you got a fresh copy of this file).
But...You've already had a look at the entries in this db & it appears they're incomplete, so don't get your hopes up. Try it & find out.

If you have access to calendar.db you can use sqlite3 to access to it, either directly on the phone, or copy it to a PC and work on it there. I remember just at G1-times there were already threads for it ...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Thank you all for that ideas! I'll try and tell you what happens. I guess the calendar.db file is complete, but the part of information which contains the date and time is kind of crypted. I already tried it with copy and write over the original calendar.db, but this made the calender app running into forceclose every time.

Same issue on stock Nexus 5. Saying "remind me to do X when I get home" or "when I get to work" have completely stopped working. (They've worked fine for more than a year) I can still specify home or work when I add a reminder manually, so Google hasn't lost my location settings.
Glad I'm not the only one. Seems like a bug, or they've decided to remove this feature. (I really, really hope they haven't.)

Very strange. Location based reminders other than home and work seem to see work fine... maybe it is server side at Google end. Hope not!

Something else I noticed: Go into Google Maps and remove your home address, then try "remind me to (something) when I get home." You'll be asked to set your home address, then the reminder will be saved correctly. Unfortunately, the next reminder won't work.
This makes me think it's a bug. It's still interpreting "when I get home" correctly, it's just choking when it tries to actually use your address.
Hopefully this is affecting everyone so they notice it quickly.
I've posted it on the Google products forum and 2 other people are reporting it.

It seems this is a widespread issue with trying to set reminder for Home or Work locations with voice or text searches.
Google are apparently aware of the issues - https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/en/google$20now/websearch/_Y0QQKclsIg/edp6sl_wWdcJ
hope we get a fix soon.
I've been posting on that Google Product forum thread regarding this matter. It occurs on my OnePlus One, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7. Interestingly, when you say, "navigate to home", it recognizes the home location and works as expected. It's only for location reminders.
