so my thunderbolt had gotten wet and died. however the void sticker is still black and intact. the battery sticker is still not indicating water damage. are there any other indicators in this phone?
Take the back cover off, its one on the top side of the battery, and its one on the left side of the phone in a little "peep hole" that has a void sticker on it
I got pushed into the water at a party. Phone in pocket. Let my phone dry out for three days. Popped in a new battery and it works fine. Hope your luck is as good

you know it's funny, my old HD2... i threw it out the window once while i was driving and went back to get it. it was still just fine a side from a few scratches. another time i had it laying on the center console and some jerk pulled out in front of me, had to slam on my breaks and the HD2 went flying at the windshield.. it ended up causing a major crack(spiderwebs and all) and had to get the windshield replaced. yet the HD2 was still fine.
one day i accidentally spilled a few drops of water on it and no matter what i tried(drying out, putting in bowl w/ rice, etc) nothing at all work. the thing was dead.

If the battery and. The sight hole on the phone are both a solid color then it has water damage according to Verizon, if red background with white letters or numbers visible then water damage they can't hold you responsible
Bolted Down....

where is the "sight hole" can you take a photo of what it should look like and its location?
i believe i found it. it seems to be viewed threw the gap on the lower left side.
Possible fix
I once got my phone wet and first thing I did was shut it off take out the battery and put it into a box of dry rice, the rice will pull the water out of the phone, leave it in there as long as you are able to. worked for me and my phone was watered by sprinklers for like 10 mins.
water damage indicators
Besides the one on the battery and the clearly visible one on the upper right of the phone there is a hidden water indicator in the crack along the left side of the case. BELOW the void sticker. You will see a light rectangle outline in between the between the pairs of holes below that void sticker. Look in the crack right next to that rectangle. You might need to shine a light in there to see it clearly.
I just discovered this when debating whether or not to try to get a warranty replacement. The visible indicator is fine but the one in that crack is half red and half x's.
Where are all the water indicators on the atrix?
Water Tags
When I brought mine in, they just checked the battery tag (on the battery) and the tag just to the right of the sim card.

What should that little sticker on the battery look like if it is or is not wet?
white with a little red x pattern. If it is all red, it got wet.
I think you can grab an OEM replacement battery off of EBAY that still has the dry sticker.
My battery is fine and is white with red x's. I'm having a hell of a time with this red sticker beside the sim card...
you may be able to buy a liquid damage indicator off of say a site like ebay and then remove the back cover and replace the sticker....keep in mind there is a third liquid damage indicator on the backside of the motherboard between one of the main connectors and the vibrator.
so...
1st one is to the right of the sim card, which is supposed to be white, turns bright red when touched with water
2nd is on the battery it is normally white with red x's, it turns red when touched with water
3rd is underneath the motherboard, also white, turns bright red when its water damaged. It isn't stuck on very well so in theory you could probably just scrape it off with a piece of plastic and just leave it missing...
in the process of disassembling your phone you will probably make it obvious to any tech that takes it apart that you did disassemble it.
in talking with different techs sometimes they open the phone up and check the 3rd one, sometimes they don't...
Hi guys, I was wondering how the water sticker is supposed to look like? I bought my evo 3d used, but at the time of sale it seemed completely fine. However, the stickers on the battery and inside the battery slot on the phone have red stripes going through it...is that normal? Thanks to anyone that can answer this.
That's normal and there is one on the back of the phone right below the headphone jack that should look the same.
I believe the red turns white when wet. I know I thought it would be white--->red but no.
The red lines once wet bleed and turn the whole sticker red. Its happened to mine

My theory is they put the red stripes on there so you can't bleach them if they get wet because they used top be poor white and turn red or pink when they got wet.
Hello Everyone,
I did a search but I didn't see anyone else posting something about this, but it seems likes my display glass is starting to separate from my phone about halfway down the body. The glass is now a hair higher that the actual plastic body on the left and I can physically push it down and the screen actually shows a wave, like when pressing too hard on an LCD or touching a non-touchscreen. I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue?
I am trying to determine my best option for warranty service as I used the transfer the upgrade trick on VZW and don't want to throw up any red flags. I also want to keep my battery door because I have the wireless charging sticker on it.

Well that's no good! Sorry to hear that, I've not seen anywhere online either where people are having that problem.
As far as your options go though... Not sure you have many. You can either pay someone to replace the screen, if it's repairable and you can find someone.... Or obviously you'd have to just go for the insurance... I'm curious, how would you throw up any red flags if in fact there is something as obviously detected as your screen? I've not done the " upgrade trick " myself so bear with me if that's a silly question.
Well I might be able to get replaced under Manufacturer Warranty as there are no signs of damage. I also do not have insurance on the phone.
I'm having the same problem, the middle left edge of my screen is lifting up (very slightly) as well. Light bleeds through the edge of the screen and the lcd changes color when I press with moderate pressure. I plan on contacting Verizon for warranty support tmrw.
So I spoke to VZW and they told me that the screen lifting off from the bezel is considered a physical defect rather than a manufacturers defect so it is not covered under warranty support. FWIW my phone has not sustained any major drops or any major damage at all...
Do you guys have the qi sticker on yours? Mine does and it's a really tight fit... I was thinking that maybe it could be pushing out the screen
My Verizon LG G3 screen is now separating from the midframe on both sides in the middle of each side. It is up about a 16th of an inch, can be pushed easily back down but doesn't stay. Light leaks from the edges.

I discovered I had a spare sd chip and spare sim stored under my battery. When I removed them both, reinstalled the battery and qi circle case, the light leaking was gone.
Looks like the G3 is pretty flexible and that the display is not glued down except at the corners. If you crowd it in the back, the display can bulge out the front of the frame. This doesn't mean its broken or defective, just tight.

Same thing has happened here on the left hand side only. I must admit I decided to store a spare SIM under the battery and a day or so later noticed a raised edge on the left side of the screen. I immediately realised this must be the case and removed the spare SIM but now the left side it ever so slightly raised, I notice this most when using the phone in the dark/dark areas as light bleeds out along that raised edge.
I may try get a replacement but since this is the second thing that occurred with the LG G3 for me (first was cracked camera lens) I may just come to the conclusion the LG cant cut it against my old Galaxy S3, which is still going without fault all these years. Might just be eyeing up a new S6 sometime in the future.
Just coming here to say that this is also happening to my device, only on the left side, as well.
I am trying to activate the warranty to get it fixed.

Me too.. Gonna see about getting it swapped
Did you guys bought your phone New from the store ? Like Verizon ?
This issues sound like the aftermarket LCD screens sold on eBay. I have bought 3 LCD screens from eBay. For the LG G2 twice and one for the G3. Once installed and a few uses on the phone, parts of the glass lifts up from the LCD and frame. That's cause they're high quality not genuine LG screens... They don't have the good loca glue on the screen.
I am experiencing the same problem. i only bought it in June 2015 and I don't know how that happened because I haven't even dropped it once.
I am thinking to claim the warranty. Because it seems like the glue has come off of it.
Yup. Mine is doing this too now... awesome! Left side as well. This is my 3rd G3 since July 2014 - I'm done with LG.
From what I've seen on other phones, the screen is often held on by some kind of adhesive. Considering this phone gets red hot if you do two things, like talk on the phone and try to web browse (like so hot it's hard to even hold), it probably slowly breaks down the adhesive holding the screen on.
My vs985 display lifts a bit in the middle along both sides, but only when I have a spare sim or sim adapter attached back there with the battery.
Doesn't take much.

Same. Light leaks out the Sides

A solution would be a case that cover that area of the phone. for example:
http://www.amazon.com/G3-Case-Bastex-Heavy-Protective/dp/B00PIYNE7Y/ref=sr_1_12?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1448743612&sr=1-12&keywords=g3+case
It's that Wireless Charging unit in the cover that brings the display up. Notice how the bleeding disappears when you take the cover off.
If you're not big on wireless charging, I suggest you perform operations on your backcover and get that bump out of there.
My LG G3 seemed to be having the same problem as well. It has beeen lifting slightly on both of the long sides and if it is on i can look at the side of the phone and see light escaping from the display. I orginally thought the my screen was somehow bent, but out of curiousity i inspected the back on the phone. In that i found that somehow my battery seems to be pushing my display out of the midframe... When i take the battery out the screen returns to the midframe on its own. When i try to put the battery back in it pokes out slighlty then when i put it in completely the display pops back out slightly on both sides again. I dont know how to fix this issue but if someone could figure it out that would be appericated.

Have you tried a new battery? Is your battery swollen? Sometimes they get bloated when they go bad.
I don't know why this happened. I'm using the tempered glass screen cover. Can anyone say what it this and what should I do?

Run some of the extra tools in AnTuTu to check if it's an actual screen problem.
Might be a "bubble" under the screen protector - can you "move" it with your finger when applying pressure?
Is it a spot where the screen is brighter? If so, I think it's a defect related to the backlight. I bought a cheap replacement screen for my Nexus 5 when I broke my original one and over time it's developed more and more bright areas. I suspect something is delaminating causing uneven backlighting. I believe it can also happen due to water/liquid damage, but in my case phone phone did not get wet.
Actually, I just tried twisting my phone and also applying pressure to the screen and noticed the LCD reacts (flashes) in those areas when I press hard, so I think it may be an issue with the LCD panel itself, not the backlight. In any case, I doubt there's much you can do about it, and be warned it could get worse (I used to have a spot or two near the bottom of my screen, but now I have them all over the screen.) In my case I've just learned to live with it, telling myself having paid $35 for a screen which developed this problem is a lot better than living with a cracked screen, and I'll have a new phone soon, but I would not expect this problem with a new phone.
