Out of the 3:
Samsung galaxy ace
HTC desire C
Huawei ascend g300
Which one is the most fast and fluid and the most "future proof". Not in terms of software updates but in terms of which one would work just as fast in the future?
Thanks

I guess you should compare the phone specs, as mentioned out of 3 by visiting here : www.gsmarena.com

It has got 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Adreno 200 GPU and 512MB RAM, so the H/W seems legit. But its still stuck with Android 2.3. You may even want to check if there is active development going on here at xda for customizations or ROM upgrading.
EDIT: If you're interested you may look the features of Galaxy Ace 2 I8160, it looks pretty cool too and slightly more features than Huawei and cash difference maybe not that high too.
Well the Galaxy Ace has by far the best battery life and Samsung phones always have the best Rom customisation scene so you can always keep your OS looking fresh.

If it gets ICS, then Huawei is a :good: from me.
But don't consider going for Ace now. Not that I'm saying its a bad phone, but its hardware is outdated and no enough RAM. Rather considering Ace 2 or Ace Plus will be good.
Now I've completely changed my mind after looking at some monthly contracts. Don't think the Huawei is an option anymore. It's between these:
HTC one V
Sony arc s
Sony Xperia U
Anyone offer any guidance on which to go for or even go for another?

- Every Phone coming with minimum 1GHz Clock speed (Arc S = 1.4)
- Only Xperia U has secondary camera (video call) but don't have SD card slot, it means you only have 8GB of internal memory, out of which 4GB is only usable.
- All coming with 512MB RAM.
Anyways HTC One V is the latest out of three with default OS as ICS. Other Sony phones should get an ICS update. And rest, the decision is upto you for which model you should go for. If you don't consider about Secondary cam, then One V is a done deal, and also performance wise it should be fair good as the hardware is updated to 2012 (Bluetooth is v4.0).
Good Luck!
Basically, they're all good, right?
Would the extra 400MHz of the arc S make a huge difference? Or the dual core of the Xperia U?
Also (slightly off topic), would a dual core processor, clocked at 1GHz be superior to a single core processor clocked a 1.6GHz? What are the benefits of more processors?

If you're gonna buy a new device, I would not recommend to buy the models that have been released one year old or so. Maybe its personal choice, but I feel that way.
That extra 400MHz may make a difference if you tend to overclock the processor to run the games fine without lag or so. I'm not sure anyways. But you told you're only interested to keep it as Stock and not interested in modding or flashing custom ROMs. Anyways I guess 1GHz is fair enough as every phone nowadays is coming with that clock speed, so its likely that Games should support.
If my knowledge is true (it could be wrong too, lol) I guess a dual-core processor performs more than a single-core even if the single-core is clocked at 1.6GHz or so. You should seek some more advice about this, because I'm not sure about what I said. But seriously, you want to go for Xperia U? It doesn't have SD card slot, all you have is 4GB of usable internal memory for apps/games. If you're a type of person that installs almost everything from Play Store, it doesn't have enough room for it to fit within 4GB memory. Otherwise, its fair!

I Came from the i9000, the only thing better about that was the screen.
There is no lag like the Samsung it juts works in fact it all just works strictly speaking we dont need a custom rom on this as it's pretty good as stock (not that we arnt trying of course)
So if you love games buy it, if you like games buy it, if your not bothered about games dont buy it.

If you won't miss the much better screen of the Fascinate, the Play is a very good choice. It has a very solid Interface without much fluff, is developer-friendly, has awesome gaming controls, solid (not great) cameras and good GPS. The screen however isn't all that great. It has good colors, but the maximum brightness is pretty crappy, it's not very visible in sunlight and the picture sometimes 'drags' a little. Nothing that would ruin the run, but it's noticeable.

I agree, the play is great for gaming but it is lacking in power compared to some of the latest phones.
My buddy got a free play and let me play with it 4 a night. If your a gamer, the controller is a serious selling point. On my desire hd, gaming is fun but touch screen sucks. On the play, I was loving gaming. Played ocarina of time. Set the controls to hardware and left the c buttons on screen. Ran smooth too. Same with final fantasy 9 on fpse. No lag at all. I get lag on my desire hd which is overall a better phone spec wise
Maybe it has a better video card? Or its optimized 4 gaming so specs mean nothing.

i have a desire HD too and agree GPU performance is better on the play, quallcomm said it developed more mature adreno drivers for the play, maybe once the play is hacked, a dev like snq could port the play drivers to the DHD
Adding in another yes, mine just came in the mail today. After spending the night with it I am absolutely pleased with my purchase. Finally, I can game properly on my phone. It's a really responsive phone, too. Gingerbread is snappy on this thing.
Yes!
Play is a really good phone, I love it`s controls and on stock firmware it really is good unlike with some other phones I have had where I just wanted to change to a custom rom because of them being boring or buggy.
Play may not have as powerful a processor as some other smart phones, but it`s gpu makes up for it and gives the power it needs for great gaming.
Sony do need to get their asses in gear for the Playstation releases though, right now their line up is crap and not getting much update.

Yikes! Just got my brand New Galaxy Tab last Tuesday and now I've been informed that there is a Note 10.1 around the corner.
The "only" difference I've seen so far is that it will pack a 1.4 processor, stock ICS, and external sd card slot.
Since I got this one in Costco is returnable. However, I think the Note will start @ $500 (maybe more...)
I dunno... You guys think is worth the wait?
It's just that I have a SGS2 and is sooo much faster than this Tab. Will flashing a custom ROM to this tab make a difference in speed?
Thank you for taking my question.

You missed the whole point huh, the pressure sensitive stylus?
Value is a subjective thing though, only you know what you need out of the device. Going with the note will surely mean a longer wait for development of custom ROMs. If the added features make up for that as well as the delay between launch and shipment then go for it.
Me personally i find the idea of the stylus intriguing but then the ram limitation (the 1gb of ram, not sure if this is an Android system restriction at this time but I'm guessing so) is cause for pause for me. We all look at lag critically and i always wonder how additional system ram would improve that. If increasing it on a standard PC improves performance to a degree then surely on a tablet it would as well. Of course that would add additional cost but I'm sure many would spring for premium models with more memory. I bring up this issue because of Samsung partnering with adobe on the inclusion of Photoshop touch with the note. Moving towards marketing tablets for graphic production using the stylus needs to come along with the ability to do it well without the lag and unresponsiveness shown in the demos. Surely there are driver optimizations that can help yes but anyone who uses Photoshop regularly to do production knows that ram is hugely important.
Baby steps though, the note is certainly a welcome addition to the tablet arena. If an LTE one comes out in the next year is certainly consider it.

Return it and keep saving to get the galaxy note 10.1. I read a couple weeks back they were holding of release til june to switch out the dual core processor for a quad core processor. I think it would be worth returning any tablet to get the galaxy note 10.1 if this rumor is true.

I love it I have the international One with the Tegra 3! Be careful about the build quality though. Buy it locally o if you have any problems with it just get a quick exchange. My first and only one X has been perfect from day one but on the forums there has been quite a few complaints. My favorite part is the screen because it's so crisp nd realistic! The camera is fantastic and the battery life seems to get better over time. I ended up buying a small external battery for $30 bucks which gives it one full charge, so I'm not complaining. Sense ui is nice but I like to switch between aosp roms and sense roms regularly. Sense roms are much better from my experience. It's a nice device beside my Transormer Pad 300t.

The one core running is the "5th" core that is used for lower intensity tasks like browsing and what not. Supposed to preserve battery. Once you start something more intense all 4 kick on. Hey,
I would recommend you the Lg Optimus, since it has a big display, which means you can play better, Single-core processor(1ghz), pretty good battery (1700 mah) and a large internal storage, which means you can keep apps in internal store (4GB internal storage, which of them 2.4GB usable). Moreover it has a very good camera, if you care about that (5MP, 30 fps and 1080p recording). It comes with ICS, so probably developers will upgrade it to Jelly Bean.
Hope that helped, and click Thanks button if so...

I have been wanting to buy a new 10 inch tablet and these two seem to be the best ones currently on the market.
While I like the design of the tablet Z, I am wondering if some of you can provide insights regarding the comparison... lag, disk i/o performance, resolution, etc.

I read lots of PDFs and webpages so I like Nexus' higher DPI, and its lower price does not hurt, either. However, I am not sure how Sony's full HD display looks like in real life when compared to the Nexus 10... I am also curious of people's feedback for the Sony-skinned Android. Is it useful or intrusive? I have not used Sony's mobile devices before so I have no idea...
However, Sony's design and the feature of water resistance are the reason that I am leaning toward the tablet z...

First thing, the first two Sony Android tablets were managed by the Vaio team, not Sony Mobile team. Second, at least it seems, Sony is trying to get their stuff done and provide some good updates to all of us faster than the last years.
Some users with nexus 10 seems to ahve a bug with it randomly rebooting and wifi dropping. My wife has the nexus 10 and faces such issues. bit disappointing considering i thought stock android would be more stable.
Go for the XPERIA TABLET Z, it's just objectively better.
Also, Companies like HTC and Samsung are interferring significantly with the Vanilla Android, changing everything, while Sony only makes a few Design improvements and adds some features. Like eg small apps. TouchWiz and Sense are big changers while Sony only tweaks a bit
Well, it seems that Sony is doing a great job here releasing the aosp code officially. Hopefully they will keep doing this! =D
And, yeah, sense and touchwiz sucks.
