Verizon: How do you restore LTE after flashing an AOSP ROM? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I was messing with AOKP, but I lost my data there. Nandroided back to a TouchWiz ROM, and I'm stuck on 3G data only. What do I need to do to get back 4G?
Edit: A factory reset via *2767*3855# on a TouchWiz ROM will do it, but I'd like to do it without wiping.

Reverted back to stock no service

So I was running a Shomans rom really liked it but decided I wanted to run 2.3.6 again rooted so I reverted back to stock build and now my modem dont seem to be working anymore it picks up signal then right back out my wifi works fine but cant make any calls or anything. Ive cleared data/factory reset even ran with a unrooted build but same issue.
Check your apn settings
Depends on a lot. Apn settings. The modem ur using. Did u do a full wipe between builds. (No this is not factory reset. A full wipe includes wiping /system /data /cache /dalvik partitions.) What apps do u have installed? Anything to turn on/off data like a power saving app?

full wipe, no miss
Ok, Sorry for the delay in response. So what it looks like is my modem it will have no service turning on then goes in and out and just drops it for a while. I starts working randomly. Like from Edge to 3G nework change I lose service. I went from ShoMans build to the stock build. I didnt wipe everything just factory reset. As Im a noob and just starting to get into all of this I dont really know how to do that step.
Just a interesting observation. I took my sim out and sd card restarted my phone and instantly had signal. Emergency calls only but it had service from the start as mine goes in and out for 5-10 mins before having and maintaining a signal. Wierd.
Well Ive fix the issue it wasnt a full wipe that solved it. The Build I used to go back to stock something was wrong with it. I grabbed the build from Entrophys back to stock. It was creepyncrawly's post that took it back to a stock build and able to fix the modem from going in and out. Thanks Creepy!
The one that didn't work was probably a bad download, or a bad flash.

Enabling 1x/3G data on Non verizon (Reliance -India) Fascinate

Hi!
I have a Samsung Galaxy SCH-I500 (also named as verizon Fascinate/Mesmerize) which i bought from Reliance in India. Everything has been working smoothly including 1x/3G data too on stock roms. But it was using android 2.2 froyo. Not content with it, currently i have flashed the TSM resurection 2.2 Rom with KGB kernel. Everything is working fine. But when i try to flash any rom other than Touchwiz roms, my data stops working. I have used the data fix files for ICS for verizon as well as non verizon (by massaint) but still it just does not connect. The Roms (have tried THS Bld 2, MIUI ICS, and AOKP M6) but with the same results.
My observation:
1) If i do not wipe data, cache & dalvik while flashing any Custom TW roms (like evil fascination, geewiz 2.8. or tsm res 2.2), I get 1x/3G connectivity.
2) If i wipe data, cache & dalvik while flashing any custom TW roms, I lose data connectivity on any above ROMs.
3) At any time if i flash back to Reliance stock roms I get back data connectivity again.
Due to this i am not able to flash any mtd based roms as it (i presume) wipes everything & hence i get no 1x/3G data.
PS: To enable 1x/3G data on stock rom (froyo) i have to go to settings-wireless & network -Mobile network-Reliance Netconnect (here i use Dial: #777; username: mobile no ; password: mobile no. Only then the phone connects to the Reliance data network.
Unfortunately, there is no such option to set the APN on any custom TW Roms and neither on AOKP/MIUI/AOSP ICS. Infact, i heard/read the APN settings cannot be changed on ICS roms.
Is there anything i can do about this.
Can anyone help me out with a solution for the same
Swapnil
You need datafix for gb by massaint for TW ROM
For ICS you need data fix ICS
Try this :
- Ask your operator how to update OTA either to activate or to update the prl.
- Try to re-inject your number. i'm not from us. in Stock ROM (Verizon) i still can use my data and call, even the provider is verizon. i assume you're using stock ROM not from verizon. try to restore to stock ROM verizon, and see if you can see the data. the patch is for verizon i think, not for your operator. i hope you get what i mean
*try to restore to stock Verizon and then inject your number. try if you can do workaround there, if you succeed, you can use the patch for sure.
I have tried many times to odin stock eh03 from verizon but it always gets stuck at modem.bin and finally odin fails. I have tried it with other stock roms as well from verizon and different carriers with the same result. Somehow, I am not able to change my radio (modem) and it stays at stock reliance radio ie ek10. I have switched between many custom roms (froyo and gb too with the same radio without any problem)
I have asked this previously too but have not got an effective answer.
I have also tried both the data fix files on gb and ics as well but with no positive results. Also used apn backup and restore from market but even though it writes file settings to apns-conf.xml in /system/etc folder, I do not get 1x/3g data

Rezound on Cricket and on Leaked Global Rom need help to upgrade to global ota

I am on Cricket. I had the corporate store flash and get 3g working. (however if your do factory data reset it will wipe the flash)
I want to get to the latest ota.
I am rooted via HTC Dev with TWRP
I want to upgrade to the latest ota stock rom or similar but will I lose my Flash to cricket like I did when I did a factory data reset?
I will use twrp to back up my stuff..
You shouldn't lose your flash to Cricket. Just flash a rom like you normaly would. If you do firmware upgrades, then you might lose your flash.

If you had your phone "flashed" to Cricket at the store, it is quite possible that you will lose your settings on a factory reset, a few users have noted that here as Cricket uses some service that isn't really "flashing" the device, just making a ton of changes like these and some of the settings get lost in a FDR... Although it is my understanding that most Cricket stores will reflash the same phone again at no charge (it must be the same phone though, same ESN/MEID).
What version/ROM are you on now?

Using latest NuSenseSIX-MAX ROM, Won't stay connected to LTE

After trying several ROMs that would not connect to VZWs LTE network (Cyanogenmod, LiquidSmooth), I decided to go for a stock-ish ROM: NuSenseSIX-MAX which is an HTC One port. It installed without a hitch and says its on LTE but then after about 10 minutes, switches to 3G and won't go back to LTE unless I reboot the phone, and after 10 minutes, back to 3G. I installed the latest firmware and baseband (1.02.01.0207) so that isnt the issue. Anyone experience this? Have any ideas?

Any luck finding a fix? I am having the same issue.
You guys need to flash a stock recovery and perform a factory reset with the stock recovery installed.
Many aosp roms corrupt the NV radio partitions and nothing will fix that except stock recovery.
So back up anything important on the device, grab the stock recovery, load it up.
Then either from hboot, or rom settings menu, or from stock recovery (exclamation point/phone image/volume up+power to get menu) factory reset.
That will fix the NV radio partition that corrupt.
Then you can reflash a custom recovery and set back up your rom.
This is the only true fix for this issue.
Yes RUU will fix it too because it does the factory reset with stock recovery as well, but that's not necessary, just having the latest firmware, stock recovery and doing the reset is all it takes. :good:
Same rule applies on the m7 and m8 as well...

Tried this - no love.
Steps done: Flashed stock recovery, chose factory reset from modified hboot, flashed custom recovery and PA 4.6 ROM.

Number one cause of the problem: Aosp roms
First thing you went and installed after fixing the issue: Aosp rom
I've been having network issues as well for a couple of months now. I think it's actually a Verizon issue as I just got a certified replacement device that's having the same problems as my old device. The issue seem to have coincided with the latest update/as well as Verizon's switch to xlte for certain phones. My signal strength/bars is a lot weaker than before. I also have a lot of drops to 3g and 1x in a 4g area that seems to have trouble switching back to 4g. When I called to report the issues/get a replacement device they said that they are aware that many DNA users have been having issues since the latest update. Hopefully we get another update to fix these issues. Also I've never loaded anything aosp on this device. Just stock and viper.

I had this issue for a very long time. Couldn't stay connected to 4G to save my life. But as Santod said, you need the stock recovery and stock hboot, then do a factory reset from hboot. I have been connected to 4G for the last 3 days since I fixed this prob. Now waiting for my new sim tray. I actually RUU'd to stock 3.06 and still had little to no 4G. Factory reset and instantly connected to 4G. Gave it a whole 24hrs, no issues or disconnects, then weaksauce and firewater. Now back on Viper and I haven't seen 3G or 1X for 3 days and counting. Hope it helps.

Ok, so I flashed stock recovery and stock hboot and did a factory reset from hboot - however my previous rom still loads... shouldnt the factory reset delete the rom? I'm not sure how to verify the factory reset worked.

Factory reset only erases /data (without wiping /data/media) /cache and resets NV partition.

GAPPS Fail on Nandroid Recovery

I have been running various flavors of AOKP ROM's on SG3's for several years now. I recently obtained a refurb S3 and set it up to do the usual.
It came with stock TW 4.4.
Using ROM Manager I installed CWM and made an image of the stock phone. I then installed my AOKP variant and loaded my apps, blah blah. All is good.
I've since decided I want to revert back to TW for awhile. I restored my nandroid and I get the interminable GAPPS failure messages. I have on occasion been able to get it to calm down and have a working phone, usually be uninstalling play app and clearing framework services cache. This is extraordinarily painful and doesn't always work. I've done all the usual, reinstall GAPPS, etc., and basically it is a MAJOR headache just trying to get the image to function.
But....When it does work the phone does not see my SIM card, IMEI, nothing.. I have no mobile connectivity. Restoring the AOKP nandroid brings me back to a fully functioning phone.
So my questions are:
Can anyone explain to me why the TW nandroid is giving all these GAPPS issues and how to circumvent/fix it?
Why is the system seeming to lose my IMEI/SIM info? Is there a way to fix that? Should I have done something different in my setup/nandroid creation?
Lastly - I don't quite understand how CWM works. There is a recovery image. When I do factory reset, is it resetting to this recovery image as opposed to the factory TW? I seem to think so, when I do a reset I see the android version is not what my factory one is.
Thanks all.
