[Q] problem with app, files ... - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
i have some wierd problems.
- when I install or uninstall an application, it works but when i reboot my cell phone the applications installed are gone and the ones uninstalled are back.
- when i copy a file through webdav from my HD and when i reboot, the file is gone.
I don't have SD card everything is on the internal memory.
I already tried the "android recovery" with the power buton and the volume buton but nothing changed.
the ROM version, 2.3.4, on my cell phone is coming from motorola France.
can you help me ?
should i try to flash again my cell phone ?
Is it possible that the internal memory is locked ? if yes how can i unlock it ?
thanks for your help

Try SDMaid to clear remaining files of uninstalled apps. If this does not work, reflash your recovery, it might be corrupted, best recovery is the CWM, its pretty much compatible to most roms. There is also TeamWIN's recovery which is touch based recovery which is quite good to.

CWM is basically Clockword Recovery Mod by RomRacer, you should be able to install original ROM. Just download it from the Motorola Website the rom will have its own setup built-in so you can run the update directly through the computer and should be fine.

[Q] recovery mod

Hey guys,
I am doing this rom flash for a mate of mine.
I am trying to flash the tastyginger rom, but i am having some real difficulties while flashing the rom.
He has a dutch htc hero from hi. He has the latest rom according to the update utility thingy. it is the 2.1-update1 version. i believe i've read something about nand locks, and i think his phone has exactly that. the first step to flash a new rom is to root the phone. Rooting the phone works, gives no errors.
But when i try to flash the recovery image, it says it cant find the flash_image file.
it is should be located in the system folder on the phone but it isn't. i've tried to install it with android sdk, but the thing just is really acting weird. htc sync isn't working with the phone. it says there isn't a phone in the usb.
Now to make it clear, can somebody give me a clear tutorial on how to flash the thing correctly? I've done this before on my hd2. i've flashed the cyanogen 2.6 rom to my phone.
have you tried rom manager to flash rom its the easiest way i know. the way i rooted was with universal androot apk then installed rom manager clicked on flash clockworkmod recovery then went to install rom from sd card in rom manager scrolled down to the rom i wanted to flash choice it and pressed ok i then select backup existing rom and wipe data and cache and pressed ok then it will ask reboot and install and press ok and let it do its thing then wait untill it reboots and it should of installed rom which you wait to boot should have a custom splash screen that comes up and wait until your prompted to input details and such. hope this helps.
hey, thanks for the advice.
i let him try this method, but when he chose the htc hero gsm to install the cwm, the app refused to install it and gave this error message:An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands.
I forget to mention that the method you posted, that we already tried it.
But thanks for the effort!
pretty certain this is the tut. i used, i also had to use the gold card method -.-;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253
rom manager has been down lately everyone has had trouble flashing clockwork recovery, but ra recovery second from bottom is a secondary choice however other features of rom manager might not work if you use this you will have to boot into recovery manually.you also need super user to use this as well.
http://zenthought.org/content/project/flashrec
Use this apk, i have always used this method!
Download clockwork or ra recovery rename it to recovery.img and copy to sdcard
Backup recovery with flashrec
then type sdcard/recovery.img
flash recovery and done!
I've done the recovery succesfully at the guys phone. It works bloody well. Thanks dudes! You can lock it up if you want to.

[Q] Huawei u8230 no speaker sound and cant isntall any app -----

Hi there.
My girl have a Huawei U8230 from PT TMN, first i ROOTed it, than i flashed it with a custon rom from AntonioPT.
Well, from there, anything was running great, i installed some apps for my girl, and on the next day of doing that all, she came to me, and sayed that the phone were sound dead, no sound at all from the speaker (the big one), i made a call to the phone and she heard me, so the problem is on the other peaker.
i think its quite strange if the speaker just died, so i whent to CWM and reboot the phone on recovery mode, that i wipped all cache and data.
After a restart of the phone, only superuser and standard apps are installed, i no longer have Android Market, CWM, Androzip, etc etc installed.
I searched the web to find a way of installing the Android Market apk or the CWM apk, but i cant,, the phone says "Parse Error, There is a problem parsing the package".
So, this means that i'm not able to install any other ROM to fix this problems.
And the worts of all, is that i'm a noob on these flashing ROM's and other stuff things.
I really apreciate you guys help.
I dont know should i do now.
Thanks in advance.
no one????
I don't know if it is too late, but any way do this.
Download any other custom rom, put it on your cdCard and flash it.)
Don't forget to do factory reset and wipe dalvik cache. To copy files from PC to your phone using recovery mode, got to partitions menu->mount /sd card
Hope it helps
Cwm is in the flashable zip format
Find cwm for you, sorry your girl's device, setup adb or fastboot (Google this for easy step by step guides on this) on your computer and flash the recovery first and once it is done you can try to flash new working custom ROM through it.Press thanks button if i helped!

I had this problem once to. On my HTC Flyer, nothing I could do to recognize the phone. I had to ditch the HTC Driver and tried every copy of the android drive I could find on XDA. I will see if I can find the file that worked for me. But in the interim you may want to try a few.
BTW I am not an expert. This worked for me and it sounds like the same situation to me. :fingers-crossed:
Here's a question: where'd you get the recovery? http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager, i don't see your device as supported. Also, i believe they're called universal naked drivers, that may be of help.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20058157&postcount=1 if you havent found them.
and in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2129298, the cwm versions are removed.."CWM 6.0.2.7 is not save to use, you may damage your phone. "
so hopefully you tried these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843825
I am not a developer or anything & havent read many forums...but while playing with myTouch I did get stuck a few times.
Somethings I cant point out if u wanna try as a layman:
1. can u mount your sd card through recovery?
2. if you can than just pick another rom for your device and put it onto your sd card
3. wipe data & partition, wipe cache, delete davlik. some devices work ONLY with wipe script (for my friend only the wipe script worked)
4. dont use odin. go to cwm recovery & install zip from sd card & choose the rom (the 1 from step 2).
I think that should get u out safely....hope it helps
@bodh
i actually installed a cwm 5 version
maybe thats the cause of the whole problem
@indiankarmas
i did install multiple roms from the sd card, first cm9 then stock rom
but it doesnt really work
how i fixed the problem:
when i flashed cm9 and used the bootloader with odin to pass the recovery mode my phone booted the stock os
installing from the external sd didnt work, i just wiped my phone for nothing
it booted the stock os, i didnt want this but this made my pc recognize my phone
so i transferred the rom and gapps in the internal sd
got back to recovery mode and installed from internal sd
and used the bootloader again to pass the recovery mode
again, i appreciate you guys trying to help me out

Malware/Trojan survives factory reset, what can I do ? ( no usb connection)

Hello, my JIayu F2 phone got a problem, I don't know if it's a virus/malware/spyware exactly, Malwarebytes found pup.riskware.smsreg but after factory reset it doesn't find anything and the problem is still here.
There's a hand cursor that appears on the top screen and it seems like the phone is taken over, it's extremely hard to navigate and ads pop up left and right even if I disable unknown sources. Parasite apps also spontaneously install themselves.
I have changed my google password, reset the phone to factory settings, the problem is still there even before I connect the phone to the internet.
I can't flash a ROM because the phone is hard to navigate and the USB port broken. Can't install apps from the playstore, the malware blocks the download, but I can install Apks.
Is there any app I could install to check what is going on? Malwarebytes doesn't find anything anymore, should I use something else?
If there's a way I could flash a rom without the USB I'd be glad to do it but the apps I tried (flashify, rom manager) don't see the zip file image to reboot in recovery
Thanks in advance
Please can someone help?
The phone still switches itself on I can do a few stuff before the "malware" takes over, mostly in airplane or safe mode.
Do you have a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) installed already? If so just find a stock rom for your device, boot into recovery and then wipe everything before installing the rom.
Thanks for your answer, I have ROM manager installed but CWR does not seem to work, is there a way to install it through an APK? I think the issue was it was not seeing the zip file of the stock ROM I have on the SD card. Would it work with an IMG file? I also don't know if my phone is supported by CWM or the other, on the jiayu website they only offer the SP flashtools option which requires USB connection. The file they provide for the ROM is a zip.
I can do stuff on my PC and install apks on the phone but as soon as I connect it to the internet it becomes impossible to navigate.
Thanks
The issue is it is built into the OS. Nothing short if a custom rom will fix that.
If you think a recovery can be done by an apk then you have to do more research as it doesn't seem like you are aware if your bootloader in unlocked or not
Hello so I switched the phone back on again and I do have CWM installed through ROM Manager, with superuser permission. The issue is that I can't seem to find the .zip file on my SD card whenever I browse with ROM manager/flashify/rashr, they don't see it, is it because I need to use a .img?
I have managed to reboot in recovery ( does that mean my "bootloader is unlocked"?).
If I need to get another ROM to make this work let me know which one and if I should go for a .img file or .zip
Thanks a lot!! And sorry I'm a total noob I tried to make this work on my own but have been unsuccessful
You will need to find a custom rom for it. It will not flash a stock rom. Also a stock rom will not fix it. It is built into it.

Thanks so is the only problem the fact that my ROM is a zip file and not an IMG? Flashify has an option to install .zip files but its file explorer does not see my ROM , I don't get it.
I have looked up online and the only custom roms for JIayu F2 available seem to be the original ones. from the vendor /"stock". WHere can I find compatible alternatives? WHen I got my phone 10 months ago it had no infection, I guess it's a "backdoor" issue that enables a malware to survive factory reset?
Sorry this is my first time trying to do this, it's pretty tough for a noob.
That is part of the issue with many of those devices. Developers don't get them so there normally is not any roms for it.
Not a backdoor persay. But built into the OS from the oem.
I can't say anything about CWM recovery as I have not used it in years since it was discontinued by the developer. It most likely will not flash any newer roms.
Also if it is a stock oem rom then no recovery will flash it except the stock one.
But when I got my phone it worked fine, it's only after 10 months I started having problems, probably after installing an infected app. Wouldn't downloading the original stock ROM enable me to go back to the true factory settings, unaffected by this malware?
JIayu offers flashing with SP flashtools but it requires USB connection, I need to find a way around that :/

You can give it a shot. Make sure to completely wipe the device when you do. Otherwise what ever it is could survive the flash. I have not used their software but look for an option to format all partitions before flashing. Mainly System and data

Thanks so how do I find the ROM through the file explorer? Because like I said it does not show so I can't flash it It's a zip file on my SD card, the file explorers of flashify/rashR/Rom manager only show me file directories but not the zip file.

Honestly I am not sure. If It was me I would find the official way to flash the device from bootloader and not rely on recovery.

Samsung S3 error on installing custom rom and now can't run my backup

Hi,
I have a samsung S3 and I want to update it to lollipop or above as my nexus 5 has started randomly rebooting and I need a phone to use whilst I sort a replacement.
I have been following this guide: wccftech.com/install-aosp-android-5-1-1-lollipop-on-galaxy-s3/ as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this custom rom business.
I have rooted the device and installed clockworkmod recovery v6.0.1.2. and copied over the rom and the gapps file to my phone.
I then booted into recovery mode and made a backup of the current setup.
I then did the factory reset and the cache wipe(s) and installed the new zip for lollipop and then the gapps.
This is where I received an error "E: Error in /sdcard/0/0/0/Download/gapps-lp-20150314.zip (status 7) installation aborted".
I figured that I should restore to my backup now but when I press it, the app says that files can't be found.
I can see that the files that I backed up do exist but they appear to have been dumped inside a new directory called /0/0/0 (I think this has got three levels because I've tried this a few times).
Now I can't boot into an OS to get any other roms on the phone and I can't edit the files on there (I googled and saw a possible fix for the gapp status 7) and I can't get clockworkmod to recognise an external SD card so I can copy over a new rom or file to try (I have googled and it's suggested the FAT32 is the format for this phone and my size of SD card (16GB)).
Can anyone offer me some advice on how to get out of this situation?
Thanks
Sounds like you're at a place where you should start exploring using your computer instead of a recovery in order to fix your system.
I recommend using the PC software Odin and installing a stock ROM of your device. (Or perhaps using fastboot)
There's plenty of guides on how to use Odin both here on XDA and on the rest of the internet if you just look around a bit
EDIT: This link contains a (possible) fix for your problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762
Don't use cwm as it is an outdated recovery. Use twrp instead.

I had a look at the link you suggested and it's one of the suggestions that had come up whilst I was googling for a fix. Unfortunately, I don't have any way to get the updated script onto the phone as the phone isn't picked up by my pc whilst it's in this state, and I can't get the recovery tool to recognise the sd card so I can't put it on there either.
I'll take a look at the stock rom or fastboot option and see if I can get back into the phone. Maybe then I can apply the fix in the suggested post.
Thanks

Thanks for your help
If the phone works in download mode, try to flash a stock rom too.
Update - fixed
Hi all, just wanted to let you know that I fixed the device with the combined advice from here:
I installed TWRP after holding the volume down + power + home buttons and then pressing volume up when the message appears (I can't remember what this mode is called). I then flashed the device with the TWRP image.
After this I rebooted into the TWRP recovery mode (Volume up + home + power and then release power button when the samsung logo appears).
At this point, the device appeared on my windows machine so I could upload a new image to the internal memory.
I decided to copy on CM13 and GApps.
I then wiped the cache, system, data, and davik cache using TWRP, then I installed CM13 and GApps.
After a reboot the device came back up as a new install.
Hopefully that information may be useful to somebody.
Thanks for all your help
