Kernel choose - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys since there is a bunch of kernels I don't know what choose.
I need a good sound for music and stable overall because my phone freeze with stock kernel. And of course a good battery life which is important
I hope you'll help me since I'm new in GSIII community: P

I can't suggest you which kernel is the best. It is all coming back to personal preferences. Some would say Neak, some would say Siyah, Franco, Speedmod and so on.
I can only suggest try each kernel for a day each. And come to ur own conclusion. That's just my 2 cent.
If you are looking for sound boost, Siyah and Franco has that feature but some don't becauae waiting for voodoo sound.
As for battery, they are all have good battery life. Maybe slightly different from each other but you have to try all of them with ur usage. And see which come out the best for u.
Hope this help

It's not what's the Best it's what's the most accurate...it's not the same thing as I need an advice for what's the most accurate kernel for my use.
It's the same when you choose a phone you ask what's fit you the best for your usage

Best AOSP/AOKP Based Rom ?

hi guys, which AOKP/AOSP based builds best for Our S3 ? (I mean Stable and good battery life ? )
Cm9 is stable now, but jelly bean roms are pretty good too, cm10, supernexus...etc.
Well, why not you try all of them and lets us know
No rom is the best. Just keep flashing until you found your best rom.

The Jellybean roms aren't 100% stable yet. They are good enough for daily use but expect the of bug. Both cm9 and aokp are very reliable though, and battery life is very good although battery life is also very good on the stock Samsung Rom so don't expect any big improvement.
I've tried them all and am sticking with cm9 until cm10 gets the last few bugs resolved but you really should try some different flavors yourself and see what you like.

[Q] stock rom with better battery life

Guys, what stock rom has the better battery life, LPX or LPY?
Sorry about my english.
Enviado de meu GT-I9100 usando o Tapatalk 2
Not entirely sure about the "battery life" part since it depends mainly on personal usage
Cheers

Ok, I says bad. I understand this, but I really want say in standby mode.
I does the LPY update yesterday, it looks like draining more the battery.
If you want good battery life, enable system power saving. My phone went from 100% to 99% in three hours.
I would say go for Custom ROM+kernel for better battery life...many options to tweak with battery life....
Try Siyah 4.1.5, and underclock. See if that helps

I agree, custom roms and kernels are more customizable and will give better battery life.

I agree with custom kernel but in my experience stock ROM provides best battery. It's all very subjective though and this question can't really be answered as you use your phone differently to me.
Just try a few ROM and kernel combos and see for yourself
I get 7hours or more screen time and awesome performance too.
I'm using stock ROM and Siyah 4.1.5, underclocked and undervolted

Have you tried a different charger? Or try an external charger. Then I would get a stock firmware from www.sammobile.com and flash through Odin.

the thread will be closed quite soon as you know and as you mentioned: test them by yourself, no one knows how you use your phone. Hence you will only get generalized answers like: for battery Samsung base is good, for speed, aosp/aokp etc.

No, my main target is find a best choose between official rom and non official roms.
And ONLY a lite rom. I know Omega rom maybe is good for our device, but i want a LITE one. I know i must test all roms, but i want use your experience for test only best ones.

which kernel is best to improve battery life?

Yeah so Im on CM 10.1 4.2.2 not the 4.3 version.
I download the latest RC, because Im guessing thats the closest thing I can get to the stable version.
Anyway, Im with the stock kernel of the CM... I wanted to improve the battery life, which one should I use?
Siyah?
Googy Max?
Devil?
Which one of them will do best for my phone and improve my battery life?
Thanks.
Read the rules....

Still... try using googy max. I had good battery life with it when I WAS using CM. but your experience might not be the same as all phones are unique. Even with same settings you might not get performance.

I need a nice, stable, fast rom.

So a year or so ago I convinced my girlfriend that flashing a ROM was a good idea. I looked around and people kept talking about MROM. It's been okay so far, but I really want to revitalize the phone. So I'm looking for a nice, stable, fast rom, no bells and whistles. Just a workhorse that will not let her down. Suggestions? Any of the CM versions fit the bill?
try ElmasRom, it updated yesterday.
Before throwing suggestions out, what android version do you want to have would be the first thing to ask

Same case than the OP. I'd like the most stable/less buggy ROM post ICS. She also need volume wake cause the power button is broken

We do not allow best/fastest ROM or Kernel threads on XDA. Please head over to the development section, try some out and see which best suits your needs.
