viperRez - HTC Rezound

Just curious, but if I flash viperrez rom 1.0.3 from my gingerbread rom now am I am able to restore using a nand backup? Or once you go to ics can you not flash back to gingerbread that easily?

If you are s-off, you're fine. If not, you can go back to GB, you just have to flash the correct boot.img right after doing the nand restore or you'll be stuck on the splash screen and the ROM won't boot up.

Just never went to one of the ics roms. I heard the camera quality wasn't the best and they had a lot of issues. this new one though sounds promising? Do you know if i can just flash the rom and i'm good and if i don't like it can i just restore my nand backup?

If your S-on you need to flash the firmware patch.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app

I am s-on.
I know it's a stupid question and i've been searching, but am having issues. So I'll just need the firmware patch to go from ics back to gingerbread right? If so can someone help me with a link? I am running cleanrom gingerbread version right now.
Or must I flash the firmware before i go to the new viperrez1.0.3 rom?

You need the old firmware patch found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614180&highlight=old+firmware+patch. When it asks to reboot say no and it will boot back to recovery and then flash the patch. Several roms currently have the patch included in aroma but I don't think this one does yet.

With Amon RA my nand backups backup the boot image already? So wouldn't I be able to just restore the nand backup if i was going from ics back to gingerbread? Since the boot image is already a part of the nand backup?

The boot image is there however we can't flash boot images through recovery if s-on, this temporarily allows recovery to flash the boot image.

Actually viperrez does have the patch built into aroma

gotcha so if i go with viperez i'll be good to go. Just if i go back to gingerbread i will need to use that flash that lets me temporarely flash the boot image. I think i got it now. Sorry for the newb questions guys. Still fairly new at all this stuff.
If this has everything built in, i can always switch between any ics rom once i do the viperrez rom right? it's just going back to gingerbread that i need to run that flash to let me flash the boot image? Sorry, last stupid question.

Thats right just follow the instructions in aroma and you'll be just fine.

I can't reply in the viperrez thread as I don't have enough posts.
I got it all working on 1.0.3, but how come in the settings > about are at the top i don't have a "check for updates" link at all like it shows on their first post in the main thread they have? I have no area in my settings to check for updates?

it appears i lost the updates due to titanium backup restoring go launcher.

Old Firmware Patch for ICS Roms

I haven't seen a thread for this yet and some people who are running old firmware don't know about this so I thought I'd post it for those that are running old firmware and want to flash ICS Roms without updating to the latest leak. This will work for any .22 based Rom I have tried it on so far. Some devs mention it, others don't. I do not know who made this patch but it came with Scroslers Cleanrom and I thank him for it. If you have constant reboots after flashing a .22 based rom, this is for you.
Hope this helps.

every ics rom thread has a patch listed..... and for clearity... Joel was the brains behind the patch... while we may not of used his exact files he was the one that informed us of what files needed to be replaced

I then downloaded the firmware/radios/hboot combos from chilpill here

i got the ICS-2.25-JB-5-7 zip then i flashed the NEW FIRMWARE PATCH
and then i got NEWTS RLS 1 ROM
Im getting alot of errors and the main one is HTCDM has stopped and wondering if i have done something wrong I have done and redone again and wiped twice to three times
My questions are and i so apologize because i know its been a wore out subject
But how to know which firmware I am on ??

if im on GB firmware and want to goto ICS firmware do i need OLD or NEW FIRMWARE PATCH???

If you flashed one of my ics hboot combos then you no longer need to flash the new/old firmware patch after flashing a ics Rom
And I haven't done this myself but flashing the new firmware patch on top of a gingerbread Rom should alow you to use ics firmware on a gingerbread Rom
As for that error I have no idea why your getting it, maybe a bad download or a app conflicting with something, afaik nothing with the firmware or firmware patches will cause that issue

2.17 Base Download? Freeza's All in One?

Hi, I'm fairly new here and I've read that if you flash a GB 2.17 base ROM while on the 2.17 firmware it will make for a better experience. My question is where can I download this and what would be the procedure while flashing ROMs? Can someone please enlighten me because I want to bring out the best in my phone.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
Here is the AIO for 2.17 - LINK. You would put this on the root of your sd card, then go into bootloader and let it do it's thing. Will automatically ask you to update.
Then just find the 2.17 ROM you would like to install and flash it.

Does this mess with hboot or bootloader (i.e. upgrade it from 1.4 to 1.5)?
I don't think so. Freeza usually removes HBOOT from his zips. May want to wait for someone else to confirm. Although, if you're already S-OFF you can just download the file in the sticky to go back to 1.4.

Does not mess with bootloader. In the linked post, he does however state that he assumed it was to be used with 1.4.

Don't know what you have as a back up, but I would do a clean install of a 2.17 ROM after you install the 2.17 firmware.

Sorry I have the stock ROM as a backup. Not sure what the base is although I'm sure it's not 2.17. It's whatever is installed after achieving s-off and downgrading. Is it recommended for the battery to be at 100% before flashing a new ROM?

Not necessary for the phone to be 100% charged for flashing. I wouldn't flash with anything lower than 50% though.

You have to flash a 2.17 ROM. The 1.13 base is ROM, has nothing to do with the firmware that you flashed.
the link has been modified to ONLY flash parts of 2.17, the radio and a few others things i believe BUT it wont make your HBOOT1.5 or change your S-OFF status or hurt you, when u update youll notice only the first few items in the big list off the update, actually get updated.
its exactly what you were asking for and its safe. just make sure u download the file correctly and copy it over correctly. anything wrong with this file can brick your phone since its concerning your bootloader.
Ok I'm either not getting something or I'm totally over thinking this does this have to be flashed before flashing every 2.17 ROM? Do i restore a certain ROM to flash it and then flash another ROM? Since you have already flashed the 2.17 firmware, all you need to do is flash a Rom. You do not need to flash the firmware again.
Find any 2.17 or ICS based ROM and flash away. Be sure to read the OP to see what works or not. When I choose a ROM to flash I always read a few of the last pages on the thread to see if any issues are being discussed.
When flashing a new base ROM, it is advised to do a backup. I backup sms, mms, call history, apps, and then do a full wipe prior to flashing. This can help alleviate any potential issues from one ROM to the other.

You don't flash it in recovery at all, you flash it in bootloader by renaming it pg86img.zip, putting it on the root of the sdcard, and let it flash, after that you have the firmware and won't have to worry about it again.

installed 3.14.605.5 leak,did s-off,now a problem

Hi. So I installed a 3.14.605.5 leak, and started to have bootloop issues. Prior to this it was s-on, unlocked. I now know I probably needed to flash the ruu twice, but I only did it once. I think I read instructions from a bad source. Since then I've done s-off successfully (since I was on the right firmware) and installed Rezrom s4 2,5. It boots up and works mostly ok, except going to the dialer crashes the phone and reboots it. Every time.
So now I'm wondering what I have to do. do I need to revert back to a leak?
thank you so much...

Ah...now we see something...you have the latest ICS hboot, 2.25...but an older GB radio...not good to mix and match... So flash [ICS][2.25][JB][5-7]PH98IMG.zip
this file from http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/-Support_Files-/SuperChilPil/
This will flash the joupunut bear hboot and the latest radios... rename to ph98img.zip, boot into bootloader and let it flash. Be sure to delete, change name of the file after. This should work!
ps..if you have a nandroid of your last ICS rom ...give it a try if you want, it might work.

Going back to ICS from Jelly Bean

I installed [ROM][Unofficial-AOKP] and while its nice some of the nuisances are frustrating. My previous phone was a DroidX so I could always just SBF back to stock no problems. But I am curious is there a way to go back to the an official ICS release by loading the PH98IMG.zip or whatever? I thought I heard once you went to an unofficial OTA you could never go back to pure stock if you were S-ON and I am okay with that I just want to get back to the last updated ICS that was available.
If I can just load the .zip what is the correct version and can someone point me to the download? Thanks.
You can go back to stock. You have to relock your bootloader by running "fastboot oem lock" from fastboot, and then reflash the stock RUU.
If you never updated past the Verizon OTA, you can get the 3.14.605.12 file from this site, rename it to PH98IMG.zip on your external SD, relock, and flash.

You didn't make a nandroid backup of your existing rom before you installed a new rom? You should start if you didn't, that way if you installed a rom you end up not liking, you can just restore your previous one without needing to re-set up your phone all over again.
Stay root and flash Neo's simplistic 3.0 rom. It is a debloated version of the stock rom. It's not as smooth as jellybean but is about as stable as you can get.

So I found this thread and I haven't been to JellyBean on my Rezound yet. Currently running Hawks latest EclipticRez and Snuzzo's latest Kernel which is dope.
1) Can I just make a full Nandroid of my current rom, then flash Neo's Inception 2.5 to try out jellybean?
2) If I want to go back to ICS Sense, can I just restore my nandroid?
It seems that simple, but I dont want a brick and wanted to confirm that I can go back to ICS.
Thank you.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 i-777 does not turn on only blinking black flashes

okay so I read through some of the threads and I still don't know how to fix my issue. I rooted my phone using Odin v 1.85 and used siyah 3.4.2. I did it successfully and everything was good. I then gave the phone to my cousin and he said he performed a factory reset to get rid of everything on the phone ( contacts ,etc). Now when I turn on the phone it shows the samsung galaxy display with the triangle and then the screen goes black and just blinks. It still goes back into download mode I just dont know what to do to fix the problem. I know I'm a noob but please HELP!!!
Development section. You'll find the stickies that show how to flash stock packages with Odin. Go back to stock to fix your issue. You should then be able to load a new kernel and flash a custom rom.
Oh, and never let that cousin touch the phone again.

You will need to root first. If you did not flash the stock plus root package already, flash that, and then install a custom kernel which has ClockworkMod Recovery. Then you can flash any firmware.
There is a good guide linked in my signature.

There is a good guide linked in my signature.

Thanks. I Used "Odin3 One-click Downloader I-777 UCKH7 Stock + Root No Bootloaders" to go back to stock.
I'm going to install Mobile Odin lite, I already found the flash kernel for the I-777. After installing both of these I should be good to flash the ROM of my choice by just putting the rom on the sd card right?

Flash a kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery, then boot into recovery and flash the firmware. Mobile Odin can't handle the CWM flashable zip format.
There is a Siyah kernel for gingerbread that would give you CWM so you could then flash a custom rom. It would be in the development section. Just make sure you grab the version for gingerbread and not ics

I assume you mean nandroid backup from ClockworkMod Recovery? No. It's mainly a space issue, where you want to store them, because they take up quite a bit of space, especially if you have several.

The general answer you will get around here is try them all. You can see what I like by looking in my signature.
I like both Shostock3 and the collective's rom. I don't think there is a bad rom on here.
