Has anyone used a micro Sim card adapter with VZW? I have a SIII phone that uses the micro card, but I have to switch to an HTC phone that uses the larger Sim card. So I was thinking I could buy a sim card adapter to switch around phones.
Yeah you can do that. You can also just use the micro sim In the Rezound if you can place it right
Yes, I have a old at&t sim card that has a cutout where I put the micro sim

Sweet thanks, when I was searching it seemed that you couldn't use a micro sim card with an adapter with a phone that took the larger one.The SKU has to match a phone that takes a micro sim card. So I wasn't sure if you could or not with VZW. The wife does not like the SIII and wants her Rez back. She said that she can't get a signal or data at work (she is a radiologist at a hospital) with the SIII, but she can with a Rez. So I'm giving her the Rez back and I get to sell or play with the SIII.Thanks again for the help, just wasn't sure if we could switch around phones with diffident sim cards.
I have on in my Rezound right now, works fine.
Gotta love those crappy radios in them sammy's....

gotta love samsung signal. Yeah, signal in hospitals around radiology are really bad. Too much lead in the way. Our hospital uses sprint phones so we have sprint signal boosters throughout. At least I can roam when in those low signal areas.

Yeah the wife's hospital has VZW signal boosters. But for some reason the S3 just sucks. AT&T Sprint and T-Mobile don't work at all.

Hey all,
So I resort on my phone (4G connection) for my main source of getting online. So today i picked up one of those little portable MiFi modems; and just for sh!ts and giggles i dropped my 4G sim card from my Rezound into the device and I almost pooped my pants when i saw the green light. Since I am a lucky soul who got grandfathered into the unlimited data I thought this would be a better way instead of burning out my Rezound and battery.
Now my questions are...I have a older 4G SIM card from a previous Verizon phone...is there anyway possible that I can somehow get a "copy" of my SIM, so I don't have to keep swapping it back and fourth from my phone to the MiFi device.
Lastly, since this is working flawlessly, probably the fastest connection I've ever had ( beating out T-1 line) Can Big Red see that my SIM is in this Mifi, and either cut me off, or start charging me? (even tho it's unlimited data)?
Thanks
ps i didn't know where to put this posting so sorry if its in the wrong place.

Problems as I see it. 1. Sim card copy/phone cloning is illegal.
2. Mifi units don't have truely unlimited 4G. They get capped at 5GB.
3. Yes Verizon will know you are doing this.

It isn't the mifi that has the cap, its your data and if you have an unlimited plan and pop the sim in there you won't be capped
Needless to say Verizon will know your doing it and I wouldn't suggest it. They will more than likely put you on a tethered plan

All Mifi/USB modems for 4G have a 5GB cap regardless. So even if they let him do it he will get a soft cap.

but, that account is provisioned as a talk/text/data line, not data only. I know on t-mobile they would definitely hammer you for it. I'm guessing verizon is the same. They know what device you put your sim in.
When I bought the rezound, I added a fifth line. I swapped sims on my tbolt and rezound, and when I went online to myverizon, it showed the switch and that the rezound was my primary.
I'm guessing they will either suspend the data or let you hang yourself with overages for that month (because they will switch you to a data only plan, none of which have ever been unlimited on lte).
On a side note, that is why I keep my TWC 3g/4g hotspot. It is the only one that I've been able to find to offer unlimited 3g and 4g (even if its on sprints network...)
Hey guys. I have the mifi portable wireless hotspot with verizon 4g lte micro sim in it. I downloaded 35 gigs last month. I have unlimited data. I also have the vl600 usb stick that I plug into a cradlepoint mr900 and a galaxy nexus. I swap the micro sim from the mifi to the usb, to the phone, and have no problems. I would like to clone the sim though, so I don't have to keep swapping it.

Read the small print on the contracts even with unlimited data they still CAN cap you at 5. Doesn't mean they will, but if you contently go over 5GB they will soft cap you at 5GB
But to answer the question, Yes they will know you are changing devices. Everytime you power up your phone the sim card registers with their network..If its in a different devices, it will register it under that devices. So yes registering the sim card under mulitple devices several times a day will trigger an alert on their end and they would check into it

You cant clone the sim card. as someone stated its illegal. If you can clone a sim card, then everyone would be doing it and have tons of devices under their account and verzion would be losing lots of money

Hi guys I an recently switching from Verizon over to Straight Talk to save some money. 45$ a month unlimited.. You can't beat it. Anywho here is my dilemma. I live in Michigan and out in the country on a lake where reception isn't that great as it is but it's still functional. I want to know if I should use the TMO Sim or the ATT Sim they offer. I already have a Tmo sim I can activate but if I do and the service sucks they said I need to change my number to get the att sim switched in. My question is will it give me any insight into my possible reception if I put in the sim b4 activating it and drive around? Bc it seems to show bars for awhile then just drop off and say no service after awhile for about 10mins then it comes in and out intermittently. Any insight is appreciated thank you!!
On another note I heard about some att /Tmo roaming agreement? If I could roam atts voice service all should be well right? Or is that not for mvno carriers? I really like my number or else I'd take the chance!

I use my amaze with tmo sim on striaght talk and it works perfect! Everything is working great. I have awesome reception. 4g works great and I can tether my tablets and laptop all for 45 bucks a month. We all know those coverage maps don't mean jack lmfao. Hey gamble what are your apn settings so I can try them out and see how it goes. It has decent service with the unactivated sim card but keeps kicking to "no service" not sure if this is just from not being activated or the service is spotty.

Is there a data cap on strait talk? Also how are the 4G speeds on strait talk compared to the 4G on tmobile. I was going to switch to Metro PCs just to save money. I am getting tired of paying 210 dollars for 3 lines.

Consider looking into Walmarts T-mobile Prepaid 4G plan if the Straight Talk doesn't have good coverage.
$30 for 100 minutes, and unlimited text and data (5GIG of 4G data).
If you prepaid it with credit card, you get $5 off making it $25.
I love the plan, and only ONCE have gone over the 5G of data. Speeds average 2-6MB, and with good coverage up to 15-20MBps

I thought straight talk piggy backed right off of AT&T so wherever AT&T customers get coverage you would get coverage?

thinking of switching from simple mobile... do any of you guys have issues with throttling? simple mobile throttles same as t-mo does after 2GB... also, what SIM card do I need for it to work? I have an old at&t SIM and a couple old T-Mo SIMs... do they require you to use one of theirs? If so, where do you get it? I went by my local wally world and they only sold the stupid phones and re-up cards, no SIMs and the person that was available was zero help... any info would be GREATLY appreciated... I'm not too worried about the speed difference, I'm in a large metro area, so I'm sure it won't be a huge difference whether I use t-mo or at&t...
ok, well I found the SIM on their site, ordered it, got free shipping... will purchase the unlimited plan when I receive the SIM and will report back with some comparison (to SimpleMobile) photos... I just went the "unlocked GSM phone" route instead of choosing one or the other, which I guess means it's equivalent of going the att route...

Yeah..i did the same thing. Supposedly they pick best SIM for your area. I say if you know what phone you have and what service is better in your area, just pick it instead of letting them. I ended up with ATT and signal was horrible at my house, dropped calls all the time. So i recently swapped over to ST TMO SIM and it's been amazing. I had verizon and it was terrible (at my house), sprint was the worst, no signal whatsoever. I don't live out in the country or anything either. It's like a dead spot just at my house, my brother lives down one block from me and has verizon and is great for him.
Anyhow...ST TMO with a Samsung Galaxy Blaze gets 10MB/s down and 1MB/s up. Download speeds faster then my home ISP.
Only had ST TMO for a week and it's been alot better then ATT for me. So it will be trial and error. Whatever fits best for you, but what's good about it is that SIM card is only $15 if you have to try the other one.
Good luck!

I just bought the Tmo SIM, the ATT service was horrible (Orlando, FL) dropped more calls this month than I have in the last 3yrs... absolute SHYTE!!! FU ATT!!! soooooo happy that "merger" failed hard on it's face!!!
Just my two cents hope this clarifies st just pays Atat and t-mobile to use there network, servers etc. They can't alter it ie. Roaming agreements. So if you have.both sims try them both to see which works better t-mobile still gives 4g I don't think Atat can on st. Also ive changed a number from a phone to a sim while it was activated.

Important: When you buy a ST sim card you will have a choice between at&t or t-mobile networks.
http://www.straighttalk.com/shopsims
If you chose.. "Unlocked GSM Phone (Phone must operate in 850 and 1900 MHz bands)" this is the at&t network card.
If you chose.. "T-Mobile Compatible Phone" this is the t-mobile network card.
You can buy both cards and switch networks without losing your minutes or being charged for switching networks. In the your ST control panel both cards (after registration) will be listed as available options.
Just a curious finding. When I first received my S4 the signal in my house was terrible. So bad that I was cursing the phone, as my Rezound was flawless....Great 4g signal. The S4 was constantly reverting back to 3g after being forced into LTE. So I cut down my Rezound sim card and used that in the S4.
Well, with the latest OTA (still on MDK) I applied Darkslides Rom to update to the new radios. Signal now sucks again. I've been reading how everyone loves the new radios, but I have hated them. Today I put the original Sim back in the phone and activated it, and my signal has improved in the house. I'll give it a few days, but I wonder if the new radio's were designed to work better with the NFC sims......as the Rezound Sim I was using does not have the NFC secure chip inside.

Interesting, I have had horrible problems with reception on my new S4 as well. It is strange because most are very happy yet a few are having problems similar to yours.
I had an S3 that had phenomenal reception in my home, my S4 is terrible, even though I live near the main hwy in the area and there are 4 towers within a mile or two. I barely get 4g at home and the phone frequently drops to 3g.
I have my old S3, wondering if I can pull the sim from it and try it. How did you get the old sim activated?
Thanks for posting. I am really hoping that Samsung and Verizon get this straightened out, otherwise I am going to have to find a new phone,.

Put the S3 Sim card in your S4. Log into your my verizon page on the computer. Go to activate phone. Select your line and then select a device previously activated. Pick your S4 (even though it already is activated. At that point it will bring you to a selection about sim cards. Pick that you already have a SIM. Then enter the Sim card number and it should activate for you.
So much jonesing for a 1080p screen with a recent Android version, snappy interface, and replaceable battery and replaceable microSD... I somehow forgot the reputation Samsung has for CDMA radios.
Whereas my Rezound provided consistent 4g at my home and in the park and downtown... my S4 gives no 4g at home (you read that right-- NO 4G at home), and occasionally some 4g in town. 3g is pretty consistent on the S4.
Short of
a) moving to a home on top of a Verizon tower
b) dropping a small fortune on a different phone,
how do I go about improving 4g reception on the phone? Is there anything that will help? Enabling/Disabling Power Saving mode? Fancy case? Carrying a cantenna around?
I've run the phone stock. I've also tried the VRUAME7 modem from arcanexvi's I545VRUAME7 Radio thread on my stock VRUAMDK ROM with no difference.
EDIT: Resolution was going to Verizon Wireless Store and having them replace with/activate a new SIM-- instant 4G connectivity after.
It wouldn't hurt to try a new SIM. Some folks, myself included, had bad SIMs that would give preference to EVDO over LTE.
Okay I was just at a Dennys and one of the customers with an S3 on VZW was showing me that he had 4G service. I'm wondering if my issue may be related to this being a phone purchase on Swappa from an east coast seller. I'm based on the west coast.
Pretty sure it isn't the SIM because the same SIM works fine in my Rezound and gives 4G service on the Rezound in the same areas where my S4 is stuck on 3G... That being said, I may drop by the VZW store to see if they can swap out the SIM just to rule out the possibility of something obscure with the SIM.

The SIM that caused me problems worked like a champ in my Galaxy Nexus. When placed into the S4, it would default to EVDO. Not necessarily saying that's the case with yours, but it's a quick and easy thing to try.

Thank you! Not sure if it was the physical change of SIM or if it was the configuration the tech was doing there in the store, but the whole process resulted in me getting 4G reception on my S4 all over town consistently and at home!

I cannot receive calls at 4g.The phone for a moment switches to 3g in order to take the call but it doesn't stay there and returns to 4g.
Is there any way, maybe at engineering mode, to make it switch from 4g to 2g?
i noticed this , the second i call someone it drops to 3g straight away.
just putting it in my pocket it can drop to 3g.
so far im not to impressed with the phone.
Im finding the internet connection freezing constantly when i take it out of idle .

I'm 3 mobile in Ireland and 4g works. So should be no problem in the UK
Here in Finland, all calls are 2G or 3G because the 4G networks is data-only networks. I suppose the same thing applies to most operators in the world.
Worked out the reason 4g is not working. I am using sim 2 for the sim and sim 1 for a microsd 128gb. With sd card in - no 4g. With sim in sim1 I get 4g. Bit of a pain as I had planned to have great big sd card for my music etc but now thinking of dropping the sd card out.

Yup, 4G working for me with Three.
Well it now says it is 4g although at home it never shows that. I live fairly remotely but not too remote and that excuse would not let it show 4g at home when I use the other slot (ie sim1 ) with the same sim.
So whether the sim 2 is not set up the same or not I am not sure
Even when my phone's says it's on 4g (the odd time) I'm not finding the speeds to match the claim .
Not sure this can be updated this is more of a hardware limitation .
So if you want to use a Micro SD card you can't have 4G? Am on 3 uk and have a 128GB Micro SD card. This will be a deal breaker for me if this is the case. No 4G on sim 2?
Here in Germany, it seems to work with 4G in Slot 2 (I just checked the speed, to check if it does not only pretend being on 4G) but when I start a call, it Drops to 3G. But Im not sure, if voice over 4G is active in my plan

I'm on Telstra network in Australia. 128GB SD card in slot 1; SIM in slot 2. 4g works fine for data - speeds are legitimate 4g speeds. However, Iike so many other people, I don't seem to receive calls when the phone is registering 4G connection, so I've had to change the preferred network to 3G and effectively give up 4G.
Disappointing. Hope the next OTA fixes this AND the crappy GPS inaccuracy.
(Even with 20160715 build, my GPS constantly re-routes and gives false directions.)
Love the phone itself. But unhappy with persistent poor performance of GPS, fingerprints and 4G voice...
