[Q] Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 screen wont turn on!

Hey guys i have the samsung galaxy tablet 10.1 model gt-p7510ma and the screen wont turn on. One day i accidentally hit the power and the volume buttons and now this device's screen wont turn on! I am at a complete loss as to what could be wrong. i was told that i may have to flash it back to factory to get it to work but i cannot find any stock rom download links. i have never dropped this thing so i dont know why the screen would just go out.
Does anyone have any suggestions tips or things that i may try to get this thing back operational? Right now it is just a 500$ brick. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
EDIT: when you hook tab up to computer it shows up as APX in device manager under unknown devices. I dont know if this helps but that a little more info.
Steve
have you tried charging it?
Apart from that I believe this is non-dev related, should go to Q&A section.
It might be that your device has hung. Press Power button and keep it pressed for 10seconds or something like that. And then try to turn it on again.
Sometimes it hangs like that. Especially if you are on some unstable custom rom.
/Edzz
it is actually running the stock rom I never rooted it or anything like that. To the guy above, of course I tried charging it that didn't work. It doesn't even show that it is charging on the scree. I have pressed and held the power button trying to get it into bootloader mode, but that did nothing. Wonder why the computer is picking it up as APX. Wonder what that is? Thank for the suggestions so far!
If you are on stock and not even rooted, then just take it back to shop or service for warranty. You will get if fixed immediately or working back in a week. Better play safe.
In your case I would do so.
/Edzz
black screen and apx on the computer usually means you're in the mode needed for nvflash.
i forget how to get out of that mode, but google nvflash and apx you should be able to get an answer.

I dont know how this guy put this device into APX mode but that is the only way i have found to get it out! Thanks for everyones help!
Hey guys,
I've been having this same problem the last 24 hrs or so now. I'm running custom rom Cynagoen mod ICS 4.03. This is apparently one of the more stable roms out there. Prior to this I ran an alpha stage jelly bean rom which ran just fine until last night. After leaving the screen off for an hour or so, the screen won't turn on after pressing the power button. I reboot every time and that seems to work. Is there something I need to do here? Should I look for another rom, maybe a 3.x? Thanks guys

Maybe try upgrading your CM9 install. 4.0.4 is the latest flavor of ICS.

You could try reading the entire thread. Hold the power button down while touching the screen. That fixes the SOD (Sleep of death).

[Q] Constant Rebooting

I'm wondering if anyone is having trouble with their phone rebooting constantly? I recently changed recoveries to 5.5.0.4, and now my phone reboots constantly. Never had this problem with the buggy no off-charging CWM (although I had the worst time getting my phone to boot after the battery died ), and I don't think I've changed anything else (same ROM) since then except recovery, but I don't think it's from recovery.
This is how it started: I was playing Tiny Tower last night to drain my battery, so I could have a fresh charge. When it got around 3% life, it rebooted, and now it has been rebooting whenever I turn the screen on for a few minutes. I tried fixing permissions and reinstalling NRGZ stock kernel, but it's still rebooting.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Edit: Went ahead and wiped everything and re-installed Energy ROM, and it seemed to have fixed the problem, but it just rebooted again. Starting to think it's a hardware problem now.
Also just for clarification, it's not a full reboot (no HTC splash screen); it just goes back to the boot animation.
Update: I went into the bootloader and did a factory reset and then wiped everything from CWM again and reinstalled Energy. I have slowly been restoring apps fron Titanium Backup, and I think the reboots were being caused by RootDim (possibly reacting negatively with NRGZ button backlight tweak). I'm not 100% sure about this, but it didn't start until I used RD to completely turn off the button lights. Anyways, the reboots seemed to have stopped for now...
I had a similar problem happening after I installed RootDim, but I never really inquired about it so I just left it uninstalled.
However, I saw on the forums that people solved these types of constant rebooting issues by going into CWM recovery > advanced > fix permissions.
I never tried it, but I kind of wish you didn't factory reset and reflash so you could give it a shot and let us know if it solves the problem

I tried fix permissions, but it didn't work.
Are you sure you're flashing the kernel properly? Flash the ROM, then reboot the phone from recovery and let it boot before using the kernel flasher.
My buddy had a constant reboot issue (along with other issues) using that recovery when I tried rushing and flashing the kernel right after the ROM while still in recovery.

It was root dim that was causing the issue.

There are a few apps that have been noted to cause reboots. Unfortunately I heard Pandora was one of them. If you call T-Mobile tech they can give you short list of reboot app culprits.

Yeah I went back and pushed this to my phone. It works great!
Having same fake reboot prob too
I just bought an Amaze from Ebay and it is running Energy rom. Once a day, it goes to that boot up screen with the spinning rings. However it's not a full reboot like you said, it just freezes the phone then I have to take out the battery and restart it. I am not a developer, so I have to ask, what is root dim? Sounds like that might be my problem. How do I fix it?

Like GlacierGuy said, RootDim is an app that I was using to shut the capacitive button lights off, but it was causing my phone to reboot. It's been fine ever since I took it off.

[Q] my.phones issue.

For the last two days my phone has been anything off at random... nothing has been changed... I'm on the cm9 nightly from the two days ago... this is the thing tho... If I gentely tap the phone it will shut off or shake it... so I figured maybe after time the batter is lose... but it also is turning off if it sits completely still...unless its playing music. It has not turned off since Round 8 ad I have just had it playing music this full time ...any ideas??
I already did a full wipe and re install and when I get home I'm going to Oden back to stock and redo everything.

My only suggestion at this point is odin back to stock 2.1.
Unfortunately this sounds like symptoms of hardware failure. I had a phone (cliq) which would do the exact thing as you described...the phone would vibrate shut off and reboot unexpectedly. I would open the physical keyboard and it would also shut off...this is totally hardware related from my understanding. But that is the worst case scenario.
Hopefully it is a software related issue in your case. Not much else i can say.

Overclocked? Voltages changed at all from default? If you have anything set in voltage control or setcpu, get rid of them and try it. You could also try booting into recovery and see if you can reproduce the problem. That should also help determine if it is software or hardware related.
If the phone is plugged in it does not seem to reboot. i have not had time to mess with it i will check it out this weekend. Weird because it only seems to be doing this at work? I have not had it restart on me at all while at home.
Also if i have the music playing it will not turn off. This weekend im going to oden back to stock and see how it goes. otherwise gonna try to deal with it long enough till the gs3 comes out, ha.

Random Reboots AOKP

Hey guys. this isn't my first rodeo so no flaming.
I keep getting random reboots on my phone. It happens about every 15 minutes to an hour. I've flashed stock and did a full factory reset. I've tried new kernels... What are my other options? This is starting to get on my nerves
My suggestion is going back to bone stock with no adjustment.

Are you undervolting?
Any 3rd party accessories? (Batteries, etc.)
Could be a hardware issue
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
No hardware accessories and no undervolting. I made sure to stop the UV when the reboots started occurring. I'm by no means a dev, but i've been around a while and this just baffles me.

It could just be a bad battery. I'd suggest wiping and flashing back to stock. If the reboots continue, you can probably get AT&T to give you a replacement.
I'm getting the same problem as you. Before I started flashing (I'm still seeing the problem in AOKP, too), it was happening on the stock rom. I'm going to flash back to stock and see if that helps for me.
By the way, I think it's a hardware issue also. It seems like the reboots are more frequent when I'm holding the phone or when it is in my pocket, maybe the contacts in the battery are the problem? It happens if I just sit the phone on my desk also, so I know I'm not accidentally holding the power button
EDIT: 1
Okay, after flashing back to the stock rom, the problem persisted. I just picked my phone up and it turned of as soon as I lifted it. Have you noticed that lifting/touching is related also?

My problem was also hardware related... it seemed to stem from a wonky power button. I contacted ATT and in 15 hours, FedEx had my new phone at my door. Win.

[Q] Wifi acting weird

For the past week or so the wifi radio on my phone has been acting up. Once or twice a day it will start to constantly cycle on and off. If I manually turn it off while it's in the "on" phase, it usually stays off. But when I go to turn it back on it just goes back into the loop, even if I wait an hour. The only way to fix it is to reset the phone, sometimes more than once (hard reset holding power and volume up). I rooted my phone over a month ago and haven't done anything else root-related since (no ROMs, mods, not even deodex). I did install AdAway, but that was at the time I rooted it and this just started happening. Not sure what could be causing this or if I just need to contact Verizon for a replacement.

I got a DNA last week and lose wifi when I'm on my patio, which never happened with my Galaxy Nexus LTE. In the house, the wifi cycles a couple of times a day. I would appreciate any input.
This happens to me no matter what network I try to connect to or where I am at.
Anyone else have this happen? I am ready to do a factory reset and I really don't want to since this phone doesn't have an SD card.

Did you install a custom ROM and/or kernel?
If custom, a kernel change may help.
If you did any tweaks like overclock, undo those changes.
But to answer your question, this hasn't happened to me.

I rooted my phone but have not done anything else besides install AdAway. I planned on installing a few tweaks like the battery percent indicator and location icon remover but honestly the whole odex/deodex thing really confused me so I haven't done anything else.
I am going to get a new SIM card today because my phone keeps saying it doesn't have one and I have to reboot once or twice to get it to come back up, but I doubt that could be the cause of my wifi issues.
